Could really use a reply on how to unlock the bootloader here, it feels like pulling teeth just trying to get info on how to do anything with the bell atrix, I've spent the last 4 hours scouering the internet for guides on how to root and unlock the boot loader for a bell atrix running 2.3.6 however all of the forum and links and guides are out of date or only for the at&t version.

I semi bricked my Bell Atrix 4G when I tried to root it with a method that buddy used with his Galaxy S2 and haven't tried since I got it repaired.
I'm almost given up on rooting my Atrix but does anyone know a method that works on a BELL Atrix 4G?

Bell Atrix 4g need to unlock the boot loader
Can any one please help? I am trying to re open this lost thread.i have a bell atrix 4g .Which has 2.3.6.I need to know a confirmed method to unlock the boot loader.I don't want to brick my phone cause I can't effort it.

 if ur on at&t !!
the best way to unlock is to use the automatic bootloader unlocker !!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ight=automatic
for how to do it, here's a youtube video describing the same !!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6a0BWquqAc
also do some research before doing it !!
and be sure, never flash sbf files or use rsd lite after unlocking the bootloader !!!
i unlocked my bootloader using the automatic unlocker (but i was on 2.3.4[4.5.91]) !!!

Title says bell atrix so not helpful at all my friend.i know it is easier from att but i could not find a single way to do with. Bell atrix 4g which has 2.3.6.

Hey i have Motorola atix 4g Att phone. I'm from pakistan and ATT service is not available in Pakistan . My Sim is working on this phone which means its probably unlock . I want to to unlock my boot loader but i could not get understand from where should i start. i few confusion like as I'm not using ATT user so i will follow ATT pudding user guide ??? and please whats this pudding ? will it be remain network unlocked after up gradation. please help . I'm newbie and sorry for my poor English
It depends what carrier you obtained it from. I'm not familiar with the carriers in Pakistan, but if your phone is not from AT&T I would recommend following the International bootloader unlock (IHOP)

Well, if you have an IHOP phone, you'll have to apply a RAM fix after unlocking. If you have an AT&T phone, you should be set.
Just to be clear, there is no AT&T logo on the back cover of your Atrix?
If there is an AT&T logo, go ahead and flash using the AT&T pudding.
If your phone does not have the AT&T logo, you'll want to flash IHOP. If you have a non-AT&T device, the AT&T pudding will not work for you.
To be safe choose ihop I believe it works even on att so choose that to be safe

I'm sorry! I didn't realize you didn't know what Pudding was Pudding is just the term we use for the file that will unlock your device. That guide you just linked is perfect, and make sure you download the AT&T files.
Your device is an AT&T branded Atrix, so pretty much everything will work for your device.
Good luck with your bootloader, and enjoy!
Thx for help.
Well since it's an att atrix my video guide will work

Bell Motorola Atrix rooting/CWM/ROMs - possible?

I just recently purchased a Bell Motorola Atrix and am interested in rooting it, installing CMW and installing a Custom ROM. I'm a bit worried because some of these tutorials specifically mention "AT&T" and not "International" or "Bell". Is it possible to root and install CMW and ROMs on a Bell Atrix? If so can you send me a link to the appropriate thread (tutorial for rooting/CWM/ROMs). Also, is it possible install the Alien ROM found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186537 on a Bell Motorola Atrix?
Thank you!
p.s. Any software unlocking method out there that I can do myself that doesn't require $$?
responding to your PM now
I am also curious. I've had an Atrix for a month now, still stock fw.
I am dying to get gingerbread on this thing after seeing the AT&T version get it.
I've scoured the forums many times without a surefire solution
Once you unlock the bootloader using international ihop pudding you can flash anything you want. Just make sure you have the right international kernel and any rom will boot. This is a bell atrix and I've been on alien, cherryblur, picherry, and cm7. Cheers.

I am JUST realizing now that Bell IHOP isn't some other carrier from another country..
"IHOP" threw me off. IHOP = international house of pudding.
I seriously though it was some other carrier. Ugh.

I'm going to be honest, I don't know what you're talking about :$
Hey guys, i've been working on my atrix and i'm currently a bit stumped. In this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138204 thread for fastboot rooting, it asks you to input "fastboot flash preinstall preinstall.img". I don't have this preinstall.img, I found one from the post above but it's under AT&T only, some help would be great. Thank you
Don't need that step. If my pm suggestion works let the community know.
So I have officially unlocked the bootloader using IHOP and now i'm a bit confused as to my next step. Y2Whisper says that I can skip the rooting because it's included in the Alien ROM. So I thought to install CWM here but it tells you to "Remove install_recovery.sh" which I attempted but could not do since I do not have superuser permissions since I am not rooted. I assume I cannot install the Alien ROM without CWM. Some help would be really appreciated, thank you.
p.s. What CWM should I install? I've always used the one that came with ROM Manager, is that one compatible?
EDIT: Attempted to flash this CWM , seemed like it went okay but when I enter recovery i get a "E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command"

I can't root or unlock my Atrix

I purchased my Atrix 4G recently, running Gingerbread, and every procedure I've tried has failed. I tried unlocking it and all I got was oem unlock not implemented. I did not try the Froyo-specific procedured as I heard they could brick your device. I'm not sure but maybe this is because the phone was bought running Froyo, then the previous owner must have updated it to Gingerbread himself, that's why they aren't working. How would I go about unlocking and rooting my Atrix? Please provide detailed instructions, I'm quite new to this..
To unlock, Grab and use IHOP from the XDA Atrix development section. That's what you need to unlock.
The root from Briefmobile's website has worked for everyone here on GB.
I'm on my phone so I don't have any links, but I'm sure if you Google - root Gingerbread briefmobile - it will take you there...

Noob with Bell Mobitily Atrix (need help)!!!

Hi, i was wondering if someone can help me out, I'm a noob to atrix (HTC's are my thing).
I just got a motorola atrix from bell mobility, at the moment is carrier unlocked by code. I want to do the following:
1) unlock the bootloader
2) flash clockwork
3) root the device
Since my phone is already carrier unlocked do i need to skip any of the previous 3 steps?, I want to able to install custom roms on my phone (but i don't want to brick it), remember my atrix is a bell mobility atrix (not an At&T atrix). I went over the tutorials in the forum but found nothing regarding bell mobility atrix, if someone has some info regarding what to do I will really appreciate it.
Thank you!!!
Check the newbie guide in the general forum. Or check my signature. It has all the answers for ya.

Do i have to skip some steps since my atrix is carrier unlocked by code, or do i follow the guide step by step?
you have to do all steps. You have just unlock carrier, not bootloader.
root then unlock then flash cwm
then flash rom may have to reroot after unlock (i did )

Quick question about 2.3.5

Sorry guys, my google and xda-fu do not seem to be up to snuff today. So here is my question(s):
I have a photon, rooted, unlocked and running the KDDI radio which works on tmobile and sprint, but i still have it on 2.3.4. Is there a way to update it to 2.3.5? I keep reading 2.3.5 will kill unlocking, but root still seems possible. Also does anyone have a thread where either the OTA or the ROM can be found (not the locked bootstrap version)
Update on 2.3.5. change log: http://mrlarge.wordpress.com/2012/07/18/sprint-motorola-photon-4g-receives-ota-update-2-3-5/
Lastly, does 2.3.5 add anything worthwhile? still have not found a change log on that either.
Like i said guys, my google-fu is low on chi today. Thanks in advance though :highfive:

IMHO, Motorola put out 2.3.5 for the sole purpose of locking the bootloader. There is nothing in 2.3.5 to make it worth "upgrading" from 2.3.4.
I recommend staying on 2.3.4.
Although the bootloader is locked, you can root 2.3.5.
If you flash mof's 2.3.5ish locked rom you will have all of the benefits of 2.3.5 without permalocking your bootloader. It's the most recent of the locked rom and IMHO the best option for locked people.
If you don't have 4G wimax anywhere nearby I would recommend unlocking that bootloader and trying one of the jb roms that th3bill has been cranking out

As far as I know, you can. Just root your phone and install bootstrap. The only thing the 2.3.5 update locked down is the bootloader so you should be good to go
