Who says they can't? They have a lot more to lose if a patch breaks phones than some dev on XDA.

I agree with you they are the ones who build the **** our guys edit and hack. If they make it I'm 100% sure the things our guys are doing is nothing new to them.

LOL thats debatable 30 fps on original evo was IMPOSSIBLE!
Now I agree they are chained to what they are allowed to do since they work for a large corporation but dont sell our devs short my guess alot would be Hired on at HTC in a heartbeat

I'm not selling our devs short. It is only ignorant to say that HTC'S devs cant do the same thing. HTC'S devs are restricted to making the device functional for everyone.

same way with a car. manufacturers just release the car for general public for the most part. then the tuners go to town for the hp and speed freaks like us!
there are speed freaks in tech and in cars i happen to fall into both categories, haha

I agree, HTC makes their devices lag for everyone and XDA Dev's make our devices smooth as butter. Now why would HTC want to do that?
HTC gives us all crappy battery life, HTC Dev's tweak to give us better battery. Why would HTC want to do that?
I guess only us geeks really care if a device runs as smooth as it is capable of and also offers good battery life. Does the regular everday user doesn't care about things like this?
And let's not get into the ridiculous skins that HTC has in it's hub. I guess most people want terrible skins that all look the same but in a different color.
All I have to say is thank you to our Dev's here who truly bring these devices to the next level which for whatever reason the manufacture's cannot.

You hit it right on the head! Most people don't care about 30 fps or a colorful skins. Most people just care that they can make calls, read email, check FB, Twitter, go online when needed. The skins and other stuff are just icing on the cake. Look at how bland IOS is but people still flock to it because whether it is pretty or not, it does what is is supposed to do. Now for our crowd that isn't enough. We want it push our phones to limit of it's capabilities. To squeeze every drop out of it. We want it to be as customizable as possible. But alas, we are the small minority, so HTC builds for the masses, who make up the biggest portion of their bottom line. To continue the car analogy, look at HTC like Mercedes or BMW. They produce a real nice car for the general public but for those who want something extra they go grab a AMG or M model which is like a phone after the devs here finish with it.

MIUI just released their own phone running the software and also Sammy just acquired a guy from Cyanogen so it seems unlikely... but cool nonetheless. SGSIII with MIUI would be pretty snappy.

Its got a iPhone wanna be interface, a wanna be iphone look and shape, and too much hype too late. Just get an iPhone already and shut up, at least you can be trendy and show off the shiny apple on the back.

MIUI as the default UI? That'd be sweet. I'm a big fan of MIUI but I wish 4G worked on it.
With Samsung throwing it's attention towards Software instead of Hardware now, then they may start pumping out more updates quicker for future devices.

This phone might be the crack to MIUI finally getting 4G to work
And its open sourced so no need to run MIUI if you do not wish to.

Hey guys, so this is just a little video I put together about the history of the prime!
I have a feeling that it should settle most of the flame wars. The bottom line is, although it is the best tablet out, I can't recommend it because of the "lottery" quality control asus has.

It's actually a very good and well done piece, IMHO.
It's good that this gets more mileage for Asus to really move its butt (not that they haven't, but they could do more).
You should have also mentioned the fact there still a lot of devices out there that exhibit none of the prevalent issues, as well as a lot of customers who are satisfied despite the issues (just to balance things a bit).
But, overall, as I've mentioned, it's a good piece.
Although it seems more than a few are wondering how Gary would feel about this Greg person you mentioned.

Sorry dude. I was searching for recent Asus Prime video. I don't have 1 yet but getting 1 soon. I wanted to share what I found because your video is right on to the point. A lot of people were hipped about this tablet but once they become owners all you read now is negative.
Update your first post when Review 2 is up. I'm hoping for in-depth review.
I liked the video, was right to the point and informative. I learned a lot about the Tegra 3 that I didn't know before. (I kinda jumped into the Prime without doing much research)
I haven't really had any issues w/ my Prime. GPS is weak compared with my Xoom, but works good enough. Wifi is also right on par w/ the Xoom. Been rooted and overclocked since I got it, and really its only shutoff once. (during a file transfer, kind of annoying)
Overall, its the best Android tablet I've used. (I've used quite a few)
Nice video. When can we expect PART 2 (full review)? Will Part 3 include the mods for WiFi and GPS?
Enjoyed your video. I'm really looking forward to Part 2.

my theory is that it's not an individual or a few but the community. everyone was ranting and raving and showing impatience for his upcoming themes. when the time came to release he was underwhelmed from the thanks/donations afterwards. I could be wrong but that's my guess

I agree but it must have been the end results. just hope it's not about appreciation. he already started to purge files and links. that's a possible bad sign to encourage others to look elsewhere. sure hope not because the rez is a great device

as ive said we didn't need to loose any devs. xda is still pretty busy for the rezound. look at rootzwiki, no one posts there.

I think he specifically said in his mods thread that it had nothing to do with lack of thanks/appreciation.
Mike D's themes were legit. Seeing what he was able to do has pushed me into learning how to theme roms
IM sure he will be back one day...
He is just working more hours... If he got more donations for his work I am sure he could cut back on his hours.
But no one ever donates to the guy!

Well donations are optional plus times are tough. I know ive thanked the guy plenty. Hope he comes back one day.
perhaps I'll start doing small things in his place. I'm not good enough to do total themes but I can certainly decompile/recompile,edit png colors and switch font color hex codes in the xmls

Sure, they are optional, but people start getting demanding and the money helps put up with the idiots. I think the enjoyment starts to go away.
I always donate to those whose work I consistently use. But then I also buy apps.
There's a reason why devs want to dev for iphone even though there are more android phones out there. Android users tend to be cheapskates who would rather steal an app than pay for it.
cant blame the community . this one is the same as others. i know someone who was working on bamf rezound in the beginning said hed stop cause of the "community" and he did . we're not THAT bad, but quitting cause of that is kinda lame- though i do understand in away .

And yes the second part of that statement tends to be true. Users forget that Dev's are people with real lives and real responsibilities and that Android Dev'ing, for the most, of us is just a hobby like collecting Stamps or baseball cards. They seem to think that because we make cool things we are some giant company with the resources of many when in fact we are only one person trying to bring some fun to your device. But anyways.. You know that already and I am grateful for your support!
I don't know about the iPhone thing though. I couldn't deal with it if I had to. I love Android. Never really liked Apple. Hahaha

honestly, I would still be on wp7 if verizon had one with lte and a bigger screen. Really enjoyed my hd7. Spent more time using my phone. Tinkering with it is fun, but didn't miss it jumping from winmo to wp7. Used to build my own roms back then, but haven't had the time to really dive into what makes android tick.

Ok, I just think it would be cool if someone was able to make a Pokedex UI theme. I'm not a huge fan or anything, I just know that thousands of people would instantly get this app if they thought they could turn their phones into Pokedex's.

Lol! I have plenty of friends who have kids and they OBSESS over Pokemon with them. Haha. Still love Pokemon myself and going on 26... It's fine to love something fun and childish, that's what keeps one alive! Lol.

Really great idea, it would be nice to see a pokedex theme.
should be pretty easy to make too,perhaps using the slideshow feature to move the pokemon through the pokedex.Well in fifities here and me and the son had some great pokemon battles,still into Mr Potter and Co and definately lord of the rings series.

Actually found a way to display the dex rotating which was pretty bloody easy really,well at least on my galaxy S4.Simply use the built in frames widget if your firmware supports it and it will rotate them,the drawback is that you can only display each pic for seven seconds before it rotates to the next,anyway just a though in case anyone fancies trying it
