Should I swap out for a skyrocket? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I just got this phone without realizing that the skyrocket was better. (I don't have 4g in my area). I recently found out that it was better from a hardware standpoint.
According to AT&T, i have 30 days to swap out the phone (for a fee). Should I go ahead and do it?
My main concern with the Skyrocket, is that it will not have as much development, or ICS roms. Is this valid?

In before op is flame broiled.
Skyrocket isn't better btw.

Why don't you go through both forum and do some reading. No one can or should really tell you what you should do.

I really have, there isn't really a definitive answer as to what will happen in the future. I'm sure that someone knows better than me what will happen.

Actually you have it backwards. The original is better. I have the Sprint version which has the same specs as the original GSII. The skyrocket has a Snapdragon. The original/Sprint versions have the Exynos processor which SMOKES the Snapdragon, especially for games but also for processing things. Also, LTE is a waste of battery; HSPA+ is plenty fast. And you'll get more ROMS for the original since it's basically an i9100T (international GSII with NFC)

If your area doesn't even have 4G, then why would you care about the Skyrocket?
Better hardware? I wouldn't say so.
Yes, its processor is 1.5GHz but different chipset.
And beside a bit bigger in size, I don't think it's better in any way.
Anyway, again, this is your phone, it is your choice, make your own decision what best for you.

Just keep the i777, the Skyrocket is NOT better.
As said before, the Exynos mops the floor with the Skyrockets snapdragon.

Personally if I was you I would stick with the phone you have. If you're within your 30 day window and want to change I would go with the galaxy note and not the skyrocket.

Better from a hardware standpoint??? Huh??? All I can suggest at this point is... read bro. Keep reading until the realization hits that your original post is incorrect.

Man and i thought we were finally done with these threads

I actually went the other way. I swapped out a skyrocket for the og gs2. Just because the hardware is better on the I777.

I'm gonna give you a final answer:
- 1.2 GHz Exynos Processor (Faster and more efficient, MUCH more powerful Mali 400 GPU) vs 1.5 GHz Snapdragon CPU (1.2 vs 1.5 means nothing; it's a higher frequency to try and compensate for a slower architecture)
- HSPA+ vs LTE; HSPA+ is still very fast and doesn't use any extra battery, whereas LTE uses a LOT of battery (and I know people with a Skyrocket who complain about battery life all the time). You're also not in a 4G area, so it shouldn't matter.
- You're either on a 2GB plan or a [throttled] Unlimited plan, so going with the Skyrocket will either use up your data faster or you'll be throttled regardless.
- The original GSII has the same internals as the i9100T (International Galaxy S II w/NFC), so you'll get MUCH more support than on a Skyrocket.
- Exynos Samsung phones are said to have better quality screens (and it's been shown in the T-Mobile GSII forums [same internals as Skyrocket]).
In other words, go with the original GSII.

Well, from my standpoint (skyrocket owner) The skyrocket definitely looks nicer. The bigger screen in nice, although 4.3" is great as well. You'd think the resolution would be worse than the original, but it is virtually the same. And my eyes are picky, too.
For those of you who say the OG sII is faster, get real. Yes the exynos processor is faster and more efficient on benchmark and spec sheets, but both processors are silky smooth when using the phones in real world circumstances.
In terms of battery life, I have owned both; and I will say that in a non LTE area, they get the same battery life(give or take). In an lte area, the skyrocket will definitely lose, but it will be much, much quicker on the internet
Finally, dev support. Yes the original has great dev support. However because exynos does not support lte, manufacturers will be making more phones with the snapdragon 8860. Which in turn will mean that most devices(and ROMs) that run on 8860 can and will be ported to the skyrocket.
In the end, I chose the skyrocket. Why? Because when I go to sell it in 6-12 months, it will have worked just as well as the original sII, and it will have a much higher resale value due to LTE.

The OG is faster. It has the Mali-400 GPU, which is a hell of a lot more powerful than whatever the Snapdragon's packing. This is coming from someone with a GSII and who also had an Evo 3D for a while. Even if you overclock the 3D's CPU to 1.5 GHz from 1.2, it doesn't hold a candle to the GSII. It's immediately noticeable not only when playing games, but also when processing things. You won't notice it while going through the app drawer, like the guy said, but when you actually DO things, you'll notice.

Obviously Skyrocket fans are going to love their skyrockets and say its better. OG (i777) SGII owners will say they love their phone and its better (because it is )
My thoughts: If you own a i777 and want to trade it in for the Skyrocket, then try it... because if you are even thinking about it, you obviously arent a dev nor do you really use your phone and all its features to the fullest so you probably wont notice any differences under the hood. Whats probably pulling you away is the bigger screen and the white finish. Go ahead and go, go trade it in for the Skyrocket.
One less thread started to ask "why is my battery draining so fast?".

The solution to that would be to go to Sprint and get the Epic 4G Touch, which is basically an i777 with a 4.5 inch screen and also available in white

I wouldn't touch a LTE device right now. I would wait until VoLTE comes included and when they put LTE band support in AWS(1700/2100), PCS(1900) and Cellular(850) bands. In 1 year when 700mhz is saturated, you will have to deal with slower speeds due to At&t's constrained spectrum in that particular band. These above mentioned features will supposedly be supported towards the end of the year or early next year.

WRONG. CPU is only a small part of the portability equation. All of the other peripherals on the device make a difference too. This is why, for example, you'll never see HTC firmwares running on the SR or T989 despite having the same CPU as many HTCs.
Basically, the Skyrocket has a unique hardware configuration that has NOTHING in common with any other device beyond the T-Mobile T989. It only has the CPU in common with other Qualcomm Snapdragon-based phones, and nothing in common with Exynos-based devices.
As an example of what happens when a device has the same CPU but different peripheral hardware - look at the state of the Infuse. It has the same CPU as the Nexus S and original Galaxy S series (other than a small speed bump to 1.2 GHz), but significantly different peripherals, which means it has major trouble leveraging development for other devices with the same CPU.
Also look at the state of development on Infuse - they have almost nothing beyond Hellraised I9000/Captivate ROMs, which they at least have due to that 70% or so hardware commonality with the I9k/Cappy. Note how many of their developers (including myself) got frustrated with the device and gave it up, even with this relatively high commonality. (That remaining 30% was a major pain in the ass... Including a ****ty Bluetooth chipset not used by any other phone on the planet I knew of.) The Skyrocket can, at best, "Hellraise" from the T-Mobile T989 community and that's most likely all it will ever be able to pull from.
Basically, Skyrocket is Infuse v2 - It takes everything that was bad development-wise about the Infuse and makes it even worse.

Samsung vibrant or wait for the Google G2

My Tmo phone is the G1 which i currently have. I loved the phone, rooted and everything but I have a chance to get the Vibrant. I am not sure if i should go ahead and get the Vibrant, or wait for the G2 especially after annoucning the +hspa on it. What would you guys choose if you had this choice(which some of you probably do)

I was looking at it too, since I loved my G1, but I read that it was going to be marketed towards more mainstream users, which to me means it will be cheaper and probably have lower specs. I might be wrong and the specs aren't out yet, so I guess we'll see.
Hard decision.
I see the winner in these categories as follows...
Physical keyboard: G2
Larger screen: Vibrant
Manufacturer: G2
Physical layout: G2
Weight: Vibrant
For me, not wanting to give up my G1's keyboard was a major hangup. But honestly, Swype is so good that I have accepted no keyboard.
As far as development and support, HTC phones are unsurpassed in the Android world.
Screen size for me is the single biggest, and why I opted to get a Vibrant instead of waiting for the G2.
However, I REALLY miss the physical buttons on the G1. They beat capacitive buttons all to pieces.
Physical keyboard immediately means, I won't get it.

i was thinking that i should sell my vibrant and try to get the g2 but after lookin at the specs it was a big step down from the vibrant.
G2 vibrant
processor: 1ghz snapdragon vs 1ghz hummingbird
screen: 3.7" OLED screen vs. 4.0" SAMOLED
there's some other features that weren't quite up to par against the vibrant. the only reasons i like the g2 is its getting the HSPA+ network and has a track ball pad thing. the only thing wrong with the vibrant right now is it doesn't have a cyanogen rom on it to make it godly.

CM6 is in the works (don't ask when) and the G2 isn't using a Snapdragon its using:
So what exactly does the MSM7230 have to offer? We initially labeled it as a budget-Snapdragon since Qualcomm’s press release said it was destined for “mainstream smartphones”, but now it looks like it will offer about the same performance as Samsung’s Hummingbird chip or TI’s OMAP3630.
Based on all the info we can gather the MSM7230 is a 45nm system-on-chip which contains a similar Scorpion CPU as the previous Snapdragon (QSD8x50) matched with an Adreno 205 GPU. The new Adreno 205 offers about 4x the graphics performance of the previous Snapdragon (Adreno 200), which is around the equivalent of a PowerVR SGX535. Support for HSPA+ 14.4 Mbps and HDMI out are other notable features.
The Adreno 205 GPU is also believed to be in the dual-core Qualcomm QSD8672, which first appeared in the HTC Glacier benchmarks that everyone went crazy over. It should offer plenty of power to run all the Gameloft HD titles, but we still expect the GPU inside Samsung’s Hummingbird is a tad faster.

Personally I'm not impressed with G2's specs at all. But I know there are many people out there who won't even consider a smartphone without a physical keyboard. I think that's what G2 is targeting at.
If physical keyboard is not a must-have for you, I don't see why you should pick G2 over Vibrant. (you won't get the HSPA+ speed most of the time)
HTC will lose here.
Over the last couple of months a few huge features have come to be standard for any respectable smartphone, and just the fact that the G2 won't have an excellent display is a big enough reason in itself that it will not sell.
It doesn't have any serious ups over the vibrant besides the HSPA+ capability (which we all know is virtually useless at the end of the day), and when you walk into a store, just comparing the displays can be a deal breaker.
They really should have included some things that the vibrant doesn't have... but they didn't.

I completely agree. This is poor timing for the G2 to be released with the specs it currently has. With the 3rd Gen Snapdragons supporting 1200 x 800 displays I'm incredibly disappointed it will only have 800 x 480 (same as our vibrant but still not an upgrade)
Also with gingerbread expected to be released anywhere from October to December (wide range I know) why not wait and have it release as the 1st phone with the new UI? Wouldnt that really make it the 2nd generation google phone?
I was expecting more HTC, but maybe after the G2 released we will start hearing some specs on some other awesome new phone scheduled to release in late november/early december.

I was one of those people. Fortunately my wife wasn't, so I had a chance to try Swype... and I bought myself a Vibrant a few days later.
As someone who has used both phones I would say the Vibrant is still better. Both phones are extremely nice but I don't care for hardware keyboards anymore. The G2 feels just as fast as the Vibrant though since its stock 2.2. The biggest let down is the screen, I can never go back to an LCD screen after that Super AMOLED beauty.
I think at this point it comes down to whether you want the hardware keyboard or not. That is going to be the deciding factor.

I completely agree with the screen and all that. But I disagree with the hardware keyboard is the point "it comes down..." simply because the G2 is running Stock Android. If the G2 gets fast updates kind of like how the Nexus One got 2.2 so early, then that would be another factor (vs. TouchWiz). In addition, Cyanogen himself said that he was getting the G2

So people and certain devs might go towards his direction if they don't have a Nexus One themselves (or upgrading from a N1) just simply because Cyanogen would be getting one and that he would most likely be putting his #1 priority as the G2 (or Nexus One.. Note: this is my pure speculation).
The Galaxy S is definitely better on terms of hardware without a doubt. With a strong developing community to support the phone, it should pretty much fly on its own.
Edit: People have the option to go with the Epic 4G for their physical keyboard. It's still a Galaxy S phone!

Why I switched from Skyrocket to SGSII

Roughly 6 months ago, I upgraded from a Backflip (my first Android phone!) to the Infuse. I immediately fell in love with Samsung's beautiful screen technology (which prompted the purchase of a Samsung laptop later on), and that was a great experience. I even hard-bricked an Infuse once and had to replace it. Good times.
A couple weeks ago, I purchased the SKYROCKET for $149 on AT&T Premier, by upgrading a second line of mine. It's everything the Infuse was, and more (better camera/video, faster in every way, etc.), EXCEPT: I discovered the problem with the screen calibration. For details, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337194 (want even more details on the issue? see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320942)
Needless to say, I wasn't going to put up with the crappy screen problems, especially since I was still within 30 days. After a 3-way call with Premier and a "local" AT&T corporate store, I was able to swap the skyrocket out for a new OGSGSII, only paying the $50 difference and no restock fee. Within 2 hours, I had it rooted, ROM'd, and all of my ~70 apps back on it using TiBu.
I'll admit that the screen on the OGSGSII is not quite as nice as the Infuse. The screen doesn't get 100% pure "black" like the Infuse did, but it is still FAR superior to the Skyrocket.
Lastly, when I came to the Dev forums for OGSGSII, I found a very pleasant surprise: gtg465x and Entropy512 were here! These two were some of my favorite devs from the Infuse, and I'm rather ecstatic that they decided to make the jump from Infuse to this SGSII.
TL;DR: If you are still trying to decide between the Skyrocket (I-727) and the original SGS2 (I-777), DO NOT BUY THE SKYROCKET.
I spent a week with the skyrocket before getting my SII. My reasons:
Physical size: While the SR is only very slightly larger than the S2 (and on paper, the difference is measured in millimeters), I found the S2 easier to hold and manipulate.
Battery: The closest LTE area to me is about 5 hours away, but even in my non-LTE area, the battery life on the S2 seems to be considerably better than the SR. In theory, the SR should have a better battery life in my situation, but that wasn't how it worked out for me.
CIQ: Not even my wife is watching over my shoulder when I'm playing with my phone, and I have a serious problem with my phone sending that level of detail of my usage to AT&T. Not to mention that I wouldn't be surprised if someone discovered that the CIQ data being sent to AT&T is being charged as consumer used data (and therefore going against my monthly 4GB allotment.) SR has CIQ. S2 doesn't.
Development Support: Read the DEV subforum for the SR and compare it to the S2. Simple enough...
ICS: Samsung and AT&T projected timeline for releasing ICS on the SR: Eventually. Maybe. Once AT&T finds someone to port all their bloatware and CIQ to ICS. Should definately be available before the year 2016. Projected timeline for ICS on the AT&T version of the S2? None. However, I bet the S2 has it long before the SR does (simply because of the developer support mentioned above.)
Enjoy your phone,
Gary

I'm glad I stuck with my OGGSII. I don't think I would enjoy it as much without custom ROMS.
Oh, and that CIQ thingy isn't my taste. I use MIUI myself, which I don't believe has any tracking software. I'm getting a bit tired of it but touchwiz roms just aren't as good as MIUI overall.

SGS2 by far...
I sold my Infuse to get an SGS2 and I have to be honest, I initially missed the big screen on the Infuse.
Still the Super Amoled Plus display on the SGS2 is great and colors are vivid if you use custom ROMs that allow to change between Dynamic, Standard and Movie.
Another strong difference between SGS2 and Skyrocket is the actual chipset, The Exynos is way better in performance than the Snapdragon, even it is 1.2 vs 1.5 Ghz
I live in Costa Rica and there is no such a thing as 4G or LTE yet, therefore it has no impact for me.
I simply love the SGS2 and as a proof you can visit this XDA site:

Who cares that the original S2 can't display pure black? It's better than the Skyrocket, where black is the only color it can display properly. I can't believe you had to make a three-way call just to get an exchange (for a higher-priced phone too). Do these idiots at AT&T and Samsung realize their phone is defective? I can't believe they've been allowed to play dumb and feign ignorance for so long.
What kinda hands do you Infuse lovers have?? That was the MOST awkward and dev-crippled ATT retard I've ever owned, ever. As far as SR, its ATT crippled handset because an almost-clean S2 didn't tickle their crippling fancy, so that alone is enough to steer me clear of it.
So S2 only and only because its the 1st GOOD/uncrippled phone ATT released in the past 3 years...

I am glad I got the s2.. I was a little disappointed that right after i bought the s2 the sky rocket was out cos I wanted the bigger screen. But after plying with it a lot I think the s2 performs way better. Both are great devices though.

When SGS2 gets ICS, will it beat Galaxy Nexus?

Hi all,
Just a simple question
When SGS2 gets ICS, will it beat Galaxy Nexus?
Please share ur thoughts

I imagine it will take it down a dark alley and slap it around a bit yes....
apart from that, no idea what you are getting at
Yes. Lower res screen, better video and better cpu. Simple as that. I would like a HD screen tho'..
S2 has a better screen, faster processor and SD card expansion slot. It will be better with ICS IMO.
Ofcoz it will!!!
Its GPU is already better, and it has to render less pixels, so it will surely beat it.
depends what you mean by "beat it"
does it really matter though? will you stop enjoying your phone if it is no longer seen as top dog?

This is why I reckon well be in for a long wait b4 we see it on our s2' officially or untill nexus sales slow down
By "beat" do you mean like..an older man with daddy issues or performance/software wise? You sound a tad vague.

Damn..Reached my thanks limit but dude you are one hell of guy..Best post for a while here in the forums
I think he means beat one off...?
As in wax the dolphin... spank the monkey etc.
Graphics performance-wise - the SGSII will blow the Nexus away. CPU wise, the Nexus has a slightly better processor (more memory bandwidth). Go read about it on the Galaxy Nexus forum in general. Nexus actually does have a slightly better CPU

too bad the nexus phones come out 9 months after samsungs flagships do.. what's the point in upgrading to a nexus, when 3 months from now sgs3 will be announced, and rape the prime ..
I really do hope the sgs3 has led notifications ... bln is raping my battery, but its such a necessity..

Yup, if you're the type of person that gets their enjoyment out of being a show off.
Normal people supposedly bought the SGS2 because it fit their needs, how would the Galaxy Nexus make the Galaxy S2 less worthwhile of you? Unless of course, your goal is to have the latest and greatest, in which you should just wait and see which will be better and if the Nexus is better, pay some money and switch.
And I have to laugh at all the SGS2 owners in here defiantly saying the Galaxy Nexus has a poorer screen... sure the Nexus has a PenTile arrangement which on the face of it is a disappointment, but I'd personally wait until I see a Galaxy Nexus in person before passing judgement.
I did and it does not have gradient issue of sgs2 (actually all super amoled plus models, including infuse, i tried not just ours). Nuf said!
That does not mean I'm switching, in fact, no hell!
But screen on sgn is much better, you gotta give them that. Well you don't have to but it's the truth.

Can't agree more, sometimes we tend to rush to judge things too quickly.
And on topic, I do think the SGS2 will be awesome with ICS. Awesome enough to make 90% of SGS2 owners not feel like they need to switch. Think they'll generally still be on the same tier.

No matter which way you put it, the cpu slaps the nexus cpu around and it shows. Played with one today. Also, the screen is better on sgs2. Not hating, just disappointed
It already beats the nexus in terms of hardware and just about everything else... the nexus just has 4G of which isn't even useful to 99% of the world (no ssrsly). Oh and ICS... which isn't that big of a deal at all.
EDIT: Wtf

Do you know anything about either phones, let alone spelling? If you put an 'a' in definitely then you're definitely an a-hole.
P.S. http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3621&idPhone2=4219
The SGS2 beats the Nexus in almost everything... :/
Nexus:
No MicroSD
Only 5MP Camera
Only 1.3MP Secondary Camera
No Radio (this is a big letdown to some)
Half as much 'quoted' talk time when compared to the SGS2.
No Gorilla Glass????
Overpriced (given the above)
SGS2:
No 4G
No ICS (Yet)
Hardly an 'Upgrade' from the SGS2.. ICS isn't that much better than Gingerbread. On top of that who really needs 4G?
But hey, don't take it from me, I don't know crap all about the Nexus. Though I do know my own SGS2 inside out.
I agree with 'soraxd' the SGS3 is going to tear the newest iPhone (lol what a joke) to shreds and absolutely squash any hopes of any manufacturer getting even close.
Believe it lol!

The int note has a more powerful CPU but u probably won't notice it using some regular tasks. Screens should be the same I would think.

This is the fastest device Ive ever had my hands on. That includes ios devices and my T2 Transformer. Even with ICS the UI isnt as fast as my note (read: smoothness...the pages and apps may transition or load faster sometimes on my transformer, but it isnt as buttery). And while the international note may have a faster SoC, the ATT note hasnt stuttered a single time nor has it dropped the frame rate below 30 fps in any game. And Ive played some demanding titles. Ive played dead space, idatank, zombie wonderland, and a whole host of other games. Plus, your getting LTE in exchange. Would i have preferred an exynos based SoC? yea. But not in exchange for LTE.
The bottom line: the note is blazing fast now, and will only get faster when ICS comes out this month. The real world performance differences are negligible, and not even worth mentioning. And battery life (which is good with the screen power management enabled) i havent had a single problem with the phone.
It really all depends, do you care about 4G LTE Speeds or quadrant scores? The int version has the better processor but isn't compatible with LTE. IMO, After rooting and removing some of the bloatware on the AT&T note, it runs smooth like butter. But the int version has some great features that the AT&T version didn't come with. Those would be scrolling wallpaper, movie editor, and a few options in settings. Its hard to get the best of both worlds...
-On another NOTE, Samsung goes 5.3"

Galaxy Note
I've got the bell version just installed app Barometer HD checked with my local weather station and its right on... my note just keeps getting better Thanks Samsung
Intl Note doesn't have NFC, nor is it LTE capable. That makes up for the slight difference in CPU performance in the ATT Note, IMO.
Yes, I know NFC isn't enabled yet, but the hardware is there.
If you live in North America, it is better to get the att note. (warranty stuff, lte) If you live in europe is better to get the int'l one. I personally do not care what people say about the processor, you don't notice the difference and even the benchmark scores do not mean anything! +I like att note's design better

You can enable it with a canadian based rom like Saurom. I have been writing tags today with Nfc task launcher. Really cool app that allows you to write a batch of commands to an Nfc tag so that when in the vicinity, the phone runs the batch. I have one now on my car dock to turn off wifi, turn on bluetooth, open voice talk, turn up volume, turn on gps. All without touching the phone
I get 3200 in quadrant first run underclocked on aosp ics.
I say to each his own. If u play a lot of games and video and don't have lte in your city go international. If you can use lte stick with the att version as you won't notice a huge performance difference in daily use between the two phones

I have an iPhone 4s on AT&T with the unlimited data plan. Was wondering if you can switch back and forth between an iPhone and Note LTE? Being that they are are 2 different data plans (HSPA+ and LTE) would there be any conflicts switching SIM cards between them?

Yes, there are many conflicts. The 4S runs HSPA+ and the Note runs LTE...the plans are provisioned differently in the system. Not to mention Android devices and iDevices run two different provisions even between 3G or HSPA+. Then there's the microSIM versus standard SIM.

Galaxy S3 US version Dual Core..... Who's still buy?

Found out the Samsung Galaxy S3 is going to be dual core instead of quad core for the US versions. What a waste, I am no longer buying this phone. What about you? You can read about at http://9to5google.com/2012/06/04/sa...-s3-for-five-us-carriers-starting-this-month/
can i just say.. AT&T SGSIII is prob coming out June 20th. thats in like 2 weeks, itll take you that long to get an impossible to find SGSIII imported in. so youre not gonna be getting it any faster ordering it from uk.
as far as bloat.. you can remove it yourself once youre rooted, and there will be custom roms that do it for you..
as for the quadcore, the dualcore AT&T is using is just as fast, and clocked higher, so no noticeable performance differences there.
AT&T's SGSIII will have 2GB of ram, instead of 1GB.
and we just got LTE here in cleveland on AT&T.. im getting over 50kbps dl speeds.. thats not a typo, FIFTY!!! with the international version, youre looking at 4-6kbps MAX
the SGSIII on AT&T will be considerably less, (think 400 dollars less with contract).
these are all things you want to consider before getting the international version. its true in the past importing was always the best way to go, but this year seems like it may be different. id really suggest holding out a few days and seeing what AT&T's official moch up looks like
not even full bars V

Me cause its packing 2GB of ram.

i don't do much gaming but i do a lot of uploading/downloading of large files so the LTE is more beneficial to me than the better GPU in the international version.

Not to mention there arent very many graphic intense games on the play store. I was a little hesitant to get the US version but I'm still going with it, in pebble blue.

Yep 100%. Can't wait.

why would you want a Duel core.....lol
LTE? have it on the NOTE and Skyrocket......not enough of a draw for me anymore.
2gigs of ram? i see that as just a way to make it look like it is better...... to TRY and keep it on point with its international counterpart.

You can still buy the international version. And I don't think every model that comes to America will have the Dual Core snapdragon?.. Only the ones that have 4g.
smh
there will be people that say its no big deal duel core s4 and quad core almost the same speed . Not true theres a big difference bench marks only tell have the story.Im not buying this version maybe the international version. These carriers gonna get quad core working soon with lte. Most people that buy this phone now are gonna be pissed when samsung release a quadcore version this year in the states. They can keep that duel core mess cause i already got a duel core phone and a small increasement in speed aint worth my two year agreement. Its really sad to see most people that make these custom roms live overseas and cooking up a storm with these quadcore beast phones while here in the states we watch and wait.ugh
I already knew this when they said gs3 was gonna have quad cores because LTE can't handle 4. I think a single core phone clocked at the right speed is good enough. Our phones don't have to be more powerful then our computers
Sent From My SPH D700 On AOKP Dressed Like Touchwiz 4
But think about this for a second with regards to dev support: there are two versions of this phone, not 5+ like the GSII or other popular phones that get butchered in the states. There's the Exynos version and the Qualcomm version. That's it. I think North American dev support will be pretty strong, not as much as the Exynos version, but much better than the US GSII's!

I don't think I've ever posted before.. but do you know the difference between the word "Dual" and "Duel"?
As for a difference between the speeds between the two processors, it doesn't matter as much to me as the data speeds are. So if the processor is slightly slower but I can get data speeds that are 10 times faster, I'll take the Dual core.
