Ear speaker/loudspeaker problems - Nokia Lumia 800

Been having the problem for a few days now and not sure if it's hardware or software related. So ear speaker doesn't work most of the time. When I make or answer a call, I'll have to switch to Speaker mode. But then, Speaker mode doesn't work sometimes in neither Call or Media modes. Pisses me off. Is anybody else having the problem or should I just get an exchange?
I think the problem might have started after I flashed the RM-819 firmware, then back to RM-801.
Thanks.

What's your volume set at? One of the weak points of WP7 is that it has a global volume control that affects everything.

Definitely not a volume issue. Speaker will sometimes stop working in the middle of a call or just using the phone. There's no static or any weird sound that would indicate broken speakers though. When it works, it's very clear.
I woke up this morning and decided to clean the earphone jack. Everything seems to be fine for now. Maybe that was it... a dirty earphone jack?

[Q] I have serious Call speaker problem with my S2...Help

Hi:
I just got my galaxy s2 today. The only and important problem i found so far is the Speaker ( the one we use for calling not music). I keep hearing the electric noise when i make phone calls. the noise disappear if i use the earphone. So, I am sure that something is wrong with the Speaker........
love this phone so much.
Can somebody help?
Thanks a lot!!!
Return the phone for a refund or exchange, the earpiece speaker is broken.
where was this phone purchased?
I bought it from clove
When I turn the volume down a bit the problem is gone.
It only happens when I turn the volume to max or one step from max.
Is that still mean there is a problem with my s2?
Thanks.

Does anybody know how to solve this?
this problem is still there no matter what.
Thanks.
Might be a dumb question but whatever.
Are you connected to edge/2g? Are you next to a computer/wifi router?

NO I am having 3g or H+ from rogers, Canada.
it mast be something to do with the speaker because If i use the earphone the problem is gone.
is it possible that rooting caused it?
root did not cause it, the issue was probably always there. i really wish more people would reply saying if they do or do not have the issue as well, so we know if its common to all SGS2 units, or you just have a specific defect.
As per request..
No I don't have this problem and have used the speakerphone several times.
No problem with my earpiece speaker or my speakerphone
Not here but I do get the headset issue...though that's another thread..

awesome, there are some data points. max volume doesnt seem to crackle everyone's speaker, so maybe a bad batch is going around.
My SGS2 ear-peace crackles on max volume pretty badly - sounds like something is rattling inside. If I put it one or two notches below max, the crackling stops.
I also purchased from clove and live in Canada.
I had this issue with a nokia years back. I ordered and replaced the speaker and the problem was solved. It could just be that it was not glued-snapped down properly and this causes it to vibrate. real crackling is caused by a distorted diaphragm in the speaker.
Anywho, I also was wondering if anyone else has this problem.

I'm afraid to say I noticed this on my phone today. Turned it down a couple of notches & the crackle could no longer be heard. Far from ideal. Will have to check with clove on next steps, and samsung australia on repair cost if done locally.
Yup same problem here. The local samsung service centre technician says there's nothing wrong with the speaker, I guess he's just lazy to look into it.
I'll send it in again to another samsung service centre to have another look.
no problem with my speakers, but sometimes the earpiece sound does seem too low when receiving calls even if i have it on max volume settings
Have the same problem... Like the earspeaker is distorting and vibrating. It starts just when I call somebody, when ringing.... Tomorrow I will take it to hospital
ok I got back my phone from Samsung Service Centre, after a second persuasion they changed the front panel (whole LCD including the front speaker, not sure if the back speaker too, I don't know the structure of the phone).
And now, it's solved!! NO MORE BUZZING when making/receiving calls!
Definitely go ask for an exchange or a change of your panel guys! It's a HARDWARE ISSUE.

crackling earpiece

when I make a call, the earpiece makes a staticy popping noise. I turn the call volume down and it's still somewhat there but I can't help but think there's something wrong with the earpiece. Do this happen to anyone else?
Does it still do it if you uncheck voice privacy in the dialer settings? That would be my only suggestion.
I experience the same thing. I have to lower the volume to make it go away. I tested my earpiece on other phones (touch pro 2 and iphone 4s) and I don't experience the same static even at the highest level. I suspect that the lte is pushing higher frequencies that some headsets cannot handle. I tried different equalizer settings without any changes. I took a higher quality headset and the distortion goes away confirming my theory. I don't think some headsets can handle the full range of frequencies that the lte pushes out. Does anyone know of any mods that will alter the frequency more than the stock settings?
similar problem, but with playing videos... (at least with some of them)

that seems to have done it, will test it further but for right now thank!
having the same problem, constant ticking noise coming from the earpiece speaker when I make a call, and its only on my end. Tried the solutions mentioned above, still got the issue. No problems with bluetooth or using the speaker phone
I'm having the same issues, doesn't seem to happen on every call. But it only happens on my end where I hear the cracking noise. The person on the other end says I sound fine. Does anyone know I can do?
This is an EVO problem

I have the same problem... sometime it sounds ok, then some call sound like crap! Then I started testing it and found that it happens 100% of the time... just on one end of the phone. If you are having this problem, make a call... If it sounds good to you, ask the person on the other end of the phone how you sound! You will see that one of the two people will have bad call quality, making this a problem 100% of the time!

Sound mute issue

I'm getting this weird audio issue starting just a few days ago. It will suddenly ignore my volume settings and go to max volume. Even if I'm in the middle of something like watching a video in class on silent, it will suddenly switch to full blast volume without warning. However, the audio is extremely distorted beyond recognition so it is just very loud garbled white noise.
Any ideas?
I have an issue with audio as well but it's different in that when I lower volume to mute you can still hear the sounds play at very low volumes (have to place ear next to speakers to really hear it). I'm wondering if that's your case as well.

I've thought I've heard that too a few times but I usually shrug it off that it was just in my head. That's very different from the issue I'm posting about though.

(Z5 Compact / E5823) Speaker volume lowering itself

Greetings.
Just bought the Z5C. Phone is awesome, but when I play anything over the speakers (incoming call, music, etc.) the volume is good for about a second, and then it turns very silent.
Anyone experienced this, or knows something about the issue?

Hey! I had this same issue for the first day that I had the phone. It was driving me crazy. What drives me even more crazy is I don't what I did to fix it. I am not entirely sure, but I noticed a difference after pairing the Z5C to a bluetooth speaker for about 30 minutes. When I unpaired and went back to the speakers on the phone they were substantially better. Hope this helps...

I was trying different things on my phone and decided to factory reset it. After it rebooted the same problem is back. Low volume for second, then super quiet. I tried replicating the same process I thought somehow fixed the issue before and it didn't help. I've tried messing with all the audio settings, toggles here and there but nothing seems to fix it. I wonder what this might be and why the phone all of a sudden started working like it should last time. Any help would be much appreciated.
Hi, I had the same problem with lower sound from speakers after 30 seconds. After disabling "STAMINA" the speakers are very loud. And if you put "Audio settings" to "standby aktive" you could even activate "STAMINA" without speaker loudness problems
Yeah happened to me yesterday as I was listening to the Radio app while on a walk. Went from relatively loud to super low quiet. I thought maybe I pocket bumped the volume or something.
Same problem. In my case, I noticed audio almost stops from one of the speakers (sometimes the top one, sometimes the bottom one, wich indicates it may not be a hardware issue). Happens on games, music, videos, or calls with the speaker on. Seems to be random.
searching for this problem (this is also happening to me (mostly top speaker while i playing and mostly games
is only one speaker(top) for me not 2 speakers
(maybe the heat? if im not the only one is hardware or software? ) it was at 5.1.1 so updated to 6.0 still the same.. maybe speaker wont working well while heated? tried to shake the device thought maybe something loose connection inside

Speaker Volume

Yesterday the speaker was working extremely well. Even had to turn down the volume to the middle. Today, there is very little volume even when set to the highest and the tone is very scratchy. All was well yesterday and usable yet to day it is not even loud enough to hear. I made no other adjustment yesterday except for turning on the speaker which turned out to be great and what I was looking for since at my age, I find it hard to read the messages.
What is the fix or what adjustments do I make to get this back on track?
HELP!
Later today, the ZW2 volume and speaker came back to normal.
Anyone know why this happened and in the future when the issue repeats, it can then be solved.
You can change volume of speaker by press volume up and down on your phone when you are talking with someone by speaker of zenwatch 2.
Thanks for the reply but what is going on is that the Sound changes as described in my original post without adjusting the phone volume.
In the last two days it has been great and clear with a change to crackly and soft to only return again back to great and again today back to bad.
Do I have a defect in my ZW2, is it with the recent update, or is it a settings that can be adjusted.
Love the read out for the phone and want it to stay in the "Great" mode

This does not work for music. Any thoughts on that?
What is strange is that sometimes the sound is fine other times it can hardly be heard. I check phone volume and also OK Google to increase volume to max which it shows but the speaker does not respond to these outside adjustments
