[Q] [19 Feb] Help - Problem with Touchscreen and PC Connection - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've a T Mobile HTC HD2 (Windows mobile 6.5), and the Touchscreen stopped responding at all recently. Soft reset set did not help and as per T Mob support the next step is to do a Hard Reset. However, I have to backup the data first - I've some email drafts/Texts that I cant lose. When I'm connecting the phone with my PC (Windows Vista), Windows Mobile Device Center (6.1.6995) is not recognizing it. I can access the sd card, and it is visible as 'Removable Disk (L)' L being the drive letter. In Device manager> Portable Devices, it is visible only as 'L:\'.
I did connect with earlier with the PC and Mobile Device Center worked. One of the possible reasons for not connecting now I found is "enable faster data synchronization" being checked. It might be checked for me, however can't check/change as the Touchscreen wont work. I re-installed WMDC, also tried with a couple of my friends PCs(Windows 7/WMDC & Windows XP/ActiveSync) - was the same behavior.
So any helps for this predicament (!) will be appreciated - specifically is there any other way to connect / change the value of enable faster data synchronization/ access e mail drafts (from PC)? My plan was to use MyMobiler if WMDC recognized it.
There was physical damage to the screen a few months back - but the phone was working fine till now.
TIA and Cheers !

Any ideas?
TIA
little help
 I had the same problem twoweeks ago ,and I realized that from some strange reason one small application repllog.exe (located in windows directory) is not activated anymore. This aplication activates USB communication, and when you run this manually -active-sync will work. However I dont know how to fix this problem to run it automaticcaly, but -i don´t want it eather, because of I´m using connectionto internet through GPRS of my XDA2 (WModem+HTC USB modem driver+USB modem dialer) and automatic sync via ActiveSync makes collision in communication (blocking USB port)......
From M$ site:
PRB: ActiveSync May Stop Responding or May Not Connect After Many Soft Resets
SYMPTOMS
If you soft reset Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 for a Pocket PC device or for a Pocket PC Phone Edition many times, the device may stop responding when you synchronize with Microsoft ActiveSync through a serial cable or a USB cable. Infrared transfer speeds are not affected.
RESOLUTION
Hard reset your Pocket PC device. For more information about how to perform a hard reset, see your device documentation.
MORE INFORMATION
Restoring an ActiveSync backup may not resolve this problem if the backup was made when the problem existed.
To reproduce the problem, perform a soft reset several hundred times.
I've root it down this problem to notifications queue. Memmaid apprently killed repllog.exe, as mcmills correctly pointed out.
I also recently encountered this problem. I cannot, however, find repllog.exe.
I even usedthe search function but the file is just not there. I am an
experienced user and I do not remember deleting anything.
By the way, I'm using Windows 2000 SP2.
repllog.exe
For>ahro
this file is not in PC, but in XDAII, so you need to look there: XDAII_root\Windows\repllog.exe ....

g4 wm6 doesn't connect to activesync.

i let my almost-future son-in-law take home and play with my g4 wizard love wm6 cingular branded wizard.
he mailed it back to me and now it won't connect to activesync 4.5.
if i uncheck advanced settings on the usb settings page, the computer gives me the usb balloons that says it is connected to the computer.
activesync doesn't even want to look for the pda.
if i check the box, activesync tries to find the pda but fails.
also, the computer doesn't seem to connect to the computer since there are no usb balloons.
is there anything i can try short of reinstalling wizard love.
thanks
Plug it into the usb wire, turn it on and then do a hard reset do not unplug it till active sync pops up on your computer.

You havent mentioned what OS you have on your pc. If you have XP SP2 you can sometimes jumpstart activesync 4.5 by restarting the DHCP.
Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools (only visible in classic view of control panel) -> Services -> DHCP client -> Restart

Same problem with me too..
all the sudden the activesync service in WM6 doesnt start at all..
ActiveSync on PC warns me there is a problem with the connection..
Is there anybody out there that knows how to get the ActiveSync service back and running again.? I tried the the taskmanager to look for the service itself. But found out that the activeSync service is nowhere to be found between the other services. 16 other services are found.
I tired it on Vista (Mobile 6.1) and Windows XP SP2 (Activesync 4.5)
It does not help when i start the program ActciveSync (application) in WM6.

I had the same problem one time after flashing to WM6. How I got it to work was to delete the old mobile device from my active sync, then connect the usb cable.
i've tried all the hints here but so far no connectivity to activesync.
did anyone get the pda seen by winxpsp2 any other way that worked.
i can get into boot loader but still no connection ro activesync.
thanks
Hi
in the begining , sorry for my poor langague
first point u should have active synchronize virgin 4.5 not earlier
second point delete the old connection from the programe.then make a new connection between ur device & pc. it will work properly (in shaa allah)
try it & let me know

i uninstalled activesync and then rebooted, downloaded a new copy and reinstalled it.
the computer sees the pda through the rndis driver and says it's installed.
at the end of the install i got some kind of message about outlook not being the default email reader but i ignored it.
then i ran the basic outlook setup but did not make outlook the default mail client.
but active sync still refuses to connect to the computer to the pda.
any other thoughts.
later tonight or during the week i will try it on another xp computer and then a vista computer to see if one of them works.
Hey lissen folks.... any luck on finding the solution.... were u guys able to run the AS4.5 after removing the device? If yes, how do you remove the devioce?
I know its a problem with PC because i tried it on other PC with Win2000 and it worked fine. ANything to do with firewall perhaps?

uncheck the USB to PC if any from your system/connection setting
Goto phone Setting -> Connections -> USB to PC, check whether USB connection is ticked or not...
did that already guys but like what i said:
unchecked the Programs>settings>connections>usb to pc> enable advanced network functionality: still cannot connect ( i noticed that if i unchecked the advanced network functionality and i would got to activesync>menu>connections> "WHEN CRADLED" there's no usb option and if i check the advanced network etc etc it shows the usb option
i finally found the culprit its the pocket mechanic app, i ran all the tests there and deleted some stuff, maybe something with the usb connection got deleted also so beware!

Whose ROM are you using? It is known that some older nhocbanme's 6.1 ROMs have this problem.
Try different ROM. helloworld1 is good.
activesync problem
try this:
download and install activesync 4.5 version
Disable firewall first and then connect the phone to pc.

Pc Connection Problem

The last while my HD2 wont connect with my desktop. I connect with the USB and the phone just charges i cant physically move files unless i change to Disk drive. I thought this might have been a problem with the ROM i installed (Dutty's Creme De la Creme) But the phone connects to my laptop as it normally would and any other computer.
I recently did a fresh install of my pc OS and i still seem to have the same problem i still cant locate the phone. (unless i choose disk drive)
Iv tried everything that i can think of to fix it but nothing. Can anyone shed any light
Cheers,
russe

[Q] Cannot connect TP2 using USB on Android

Hi there,
I have just started using the FRX06 bundle on my HTC touch pro2, but am not able to connect to Windows Vista using USB. The phone is found as a disk drive (but I am unable to open it, it asks me to place a replecable disk), on the phone the USB sign is visible and it gives me the oppurtunity to enable USB connections (when sliding the topicons downwards over the screen. But when I hit the USB enable button, it just keeps thinking about it and not connecting whatsoever. In device manager it also says Android phone with the ADB interface installed, no exclamation marks anywhere, but still no luck. Anybody an idea what could be going wrong? There is nothing wrong when connecting with windows mobile, so hardware should be ok..
Thanks, Wouter

USB connection does NOT WORK, at this moment...
You can use DroidExplorer.

Yes, adb is the only way to use USB at the moment.
Please read the FAQ.

Please read the FAQ. USB mass storage is known not to work in any configuration using loopback images (e.g. system.ext2/data.img)
It sort of works (will mount to the computer, but you can't remount the SD within Android) if you partition the SD card with some native ext2 partitions. (system on partition 3, data on partition 4)
