[Q]SGP usb audio out and charger for car - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Hello everyone. I am and android guy but I have and older ipod I use for my car that I would like to replace with an android player. I currently have a digital aux out to usb to charge and aux cable. With this cable the sound coming out is great. I have not been able to find any other players other then the ipod/iphone that sound this good.
Now i have a photon that when using the car dock has audio out but its not full raw out and dose not sound good at call like the ipod out set up I have.
I was wondering if there is a way I can hook the the SGP in my car like how I have my current ipod. If not would there be a way to make a cable. I see that someone was able to make a cable for the att samsung phone.
Any imput that you all can give would be great.
Thanks in advance.

help please - charge & headset

Hi I've had an htc HD was looking at HD2 but the TG01 looks a far better option for the amount it costs.
Can someone confirm for me though does this phone have a 3.5mm audio jack - or it that provided only through the converter for the mini-usb ?
if yes to the above is it possible to charge this phone and have a headset connected via 3.5mm ?
reason I want o do this is my car audio has aux in via a 3.5 mm cable and I often used my HD in the car but needed to charge it at the same time.
thanks for any help

Hi,
The TG01 does NOT have a 3.5mm jack; only the micro-USB port. You can however use a uUSB to 3.5mm adapter perfectly OK. Audio quality is excellent.
It is however limited in that currently you cannot charge at the same time. The uUSB standard anticipates the future availability of an external intelligent adapter to control this type of use (eg. car kit); the chips appear to be available to do this, but as yet no 3rd party devices you can buy.
A practical solution is to use a Bluetooth audio adapter with your own earphones (or to feed the car's Aux input) - something like the Sony Ericsson range. Or simply have a spare battery available.
There is more information here and here about connecting via uUSB.
that's really helpful, thanks for that

mp3 stereo dock....dumb question perhaps?

Hello....If i am using a samsung captivate or htc evo etc,......Can i plug these phones into an ihome? or any dock stations made for ipods but have an AUX?
Cant i plug in my micorub into the usb or whatever?
if not, what speakers exist, when im outside and wanna hear music louder, id like to plug my phone into a radio, one taht is somewhat portable and can be plugged into ac outlet.
thanks for any help? or any ebay links would be great too.
i got my own answer and bought a male to male 3.5mm adapter which i can then plug into the aux.
I have been looking into the bluetooth models myself

thanks,
I found this one too AS851 (Cant link yet). Comes with a remote and is 30 watts. They say you cant stream music thru the micro usb, but then how does the unit send audio and video to a HDMI cable, so I would think its possible. shrug

All of those docks use Bluetooth to stream the audio. From what I know the USB port on the bottom doesn't have the ability to natively send audio out of the pins. I would love to have a simple dock too for this phone that would let audio out without having to jack in on the top of the phone, but it's just not designed that way.
I used to have an ATT "Fuze" (touch pro) - used to have to carry a dongle everywhere with me to plug in headphones. I'm much happier that I don't need a dongle, but it does suck to have to plug in 2 things in the car to get audio and charge at the same time.

HD station or Car Dock have line out?

Do either the HD Station or the Car Dock have an NON-amplified audio line out?
Music sounds pretty crappy playing it through the amplified headphone port or bluetooth audio to my truck. Looking to used one of the docks instead if they have a line out.
The official Motorola car dock has no line out. Only a micro usb charging port in.

Are you talking about the Car Dock? If so, that rules out that option for me.
The HD Station looks like it has a 3.5mm audio port, but i'm not sure if that is a line out or amplified?
The car dock has a 3.5mm female connector at the lighter adapter. I have that running to the front of my truck's deck.
Check the manual here to see if that's what you're looking for.
I have the car dock and have tested the aux out. Its ok but the sound quality is not that good. It like im listing to xm in my car.. sound is ok but not the best. Im am comparing the quality to my Ipod that is hooked up to a digital out to aux cable that sound great. The day someone makes and android player that sounds as good as my ipod is the day i can fully leave apple behind.
this might not directly answer your question but, I have used BT in a few cars and with BT headphones. It sounds fine and I've never had any problems with sound quality. as an AUX input it sounds ok but, playing music off my phone gets pretty old fast. I personally prefer to use USB flash drives. I just put a stereo in with usb and an aux for 90 bucks. i can add on BT for 50 but, i have no use for it really. decks with bt built in cost about 160+. anyway, if u have a usb port, u can use ur phone as an flash drive and play the files directly off of there.
as far as docks go, i just use a cup holder or the dash space that i have.

Wow good catch. Hadn't noticed that. I can't make use of it because I have no aux in, currently using bluetooth, but good to know for future cars.
Thanks!

Music over usb

How guys! Been a while for me being on here.
Have been working hard and don't have time to actually play with my phones in the same way of used to
So I have a new project I'm about to start.
In a previous car I had an ipad mini dash install, so basically the ipad replaced the stereo and it usb'd into a stereo hidden away in the boot. So that all music functions were controlled via the ipad and volume was done with the oem steering controls which were operating the volume of the hidden stereo. This time round tho I don't have room for an ipad mini so was thinking of using an xperia z ultra in the dash, but in what way would I be able to connect this to a car stereo?
Any help appreciated guys
There are some methods. Not as tidy as with an ipad.
Easiest to setup is bluetooth via aptX. I know the z ultra supports this. But I have never used it. I stopped buying bluetooth headsets some years ago. Just buy a reciever with a good dac. Plug it in and supply it with a power source and play music. (Find one that allows charging and playing music at the same time. Some powers off when charger plugs in).
For hardwiring the z ultra to the car. You could use either the aux cable strait from the headset jack. Not ideally ..the z ultra has catastrophically bad sound.
Or buy a dac from http://hifimediy.com add a micro usb extension cord so you don't have the z ultra janking on the short cable to the dac. Then run the aux cable from the dac to the aux input.
I don't know what to do about power. The micro usb port is taken by the dac. Perhaps its possible to have a splitter. But I don't know if the dac is running in standard usb mode or via otg. The pinout on the cable is slightly different when you run in otg mode.
Anyways. A cable would look like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-USB-H...-Samsung-Galaxy-S6-6-Edge-5-4-3-/171837296881 Or use a magnetic dock with a car mount.
You could buy a chromecast audio.
It has a AK4430 dac. It looks promising on paper but google restricts the possibility to control the bitrate. Even if its capable of 192KHz. You're not allowed to stream audio in that bitrate.
Perhaps you can root it and change this?
Some good food for thought there.
I was thinking I could maybe charge with the magnetic port on the side of the device.
As I will be fabricating a mount built into the dashboard so the magnetic charger can just be in there ready to go as the phone is put in place and the dac unit in the USB port.
So the day u it would transfer all audio from the phone out of the auxiliary port on the stereo?
