Just making this thread to let people know that the prime can be brought at Office Depot, dont know if anyone else said it but it seems like its the only place that has it in stock right now

That's where I picked up my second prime after the local best buy was out. Definitely read their return policy for technology, though.

Anyone else had problems exchanging at Staples?

After over 6 hours on the phone with Samsung support (until 2:30 am on SAt.) I was told to take the device back(stock and unrooted) and exchange or get a refund. I called Staples and was assured that they had PLENTY in stock(their words) so I made the 45 minute drive (one way) and upon arriving at the store the cashier was very polite but said she must talk to Mgr. The mgr shows up and says "oh your bringing back another one,(with a huge smirk on his face) I said yes I had tried very hard to resolve the issues with support but could not. The mgr continued to smirk and look at me like "yeah right" He said he must call his district mgr he left and the cashier apologized for him saying"He should not have treated you like that. The mgr returned and still had the same smirk on his face. and said "what do you want to do?" I replied, I will try another one ( I had purchased one a week and a half ago and returned it for refund after 3 days.) He said just a moment and went to the store room and when he came back he said I can exchange it for one in an opened box, I replied NO WAY!!. He then said that they had 2 in the back and both were opened, I said what happend to the plenty I was told on the phone? I then asked for a refund and he whispered something to the girl and smirked again and left. The cashier then all of a sudden had all of this info about stock in the backroom etc. I firmly believe that they did not want to exchange the device and would rather refund and look for others to come in and buy their stock.(opened and unopened) The cashier apologized once again for the mgr's actions. I got the number for corporate and will call tomorrow. Upon reading the coupon it says coupon good only while supplies last. That could mean that all stores were only shipped a very few. I now have no coupon and no device. I had just returned the TF I had been trying and decided to stick with the Gtab and had purchased a Samsung keyboard for it at BB. Anyone else have problems with Staples?
I will not shop at Staples again after the way I was treated when my wife and I went to the store to buy my Samsung Tab, was treated very rudely by a manager, ended up driving 45min to BB the next day to buy my tab. Guess they didn't want my money!!
To make a long story short, website said in stock, went to store, young kid said oh yeah we have some in the back but I can't go back and get them. Asked to speak to a manager,she said it was too much work to get it out of the back and I should buy a Xoom because it has an sd card (funny huh?) I exchanged several intense sentences with the manager and left the store and will not ever go back in one. I pulled our business away from them on our business side as well. Doesn't hurt me any, I order from other places now.
While at BB purchasing the keyboard a man and his girl friend saw the keyboard and asked me how I liked the Gtab. I replied I really liked it but might have to return it for issues. He then stated that he was going to attempt to get BB to honor the coupon for the Gtab. I told him I had tried that at another BB and it was a no go. Well about 2 minutes later the mgr showed up and told him no problem. So perhaps there is a chance I can get the same BB to honor a coupon when I find one. I am going to return the keyboard as it would not function properly(called samsung support and they could not help me get it to be recognized by the Gtab. I will try to purchase the device with coupon.

Maybe Staples has caught wind of people trying to return locked GT's to try and find unlocked ones, or at least that store did. Kinda like what I wanted to do but decided not to, not worth the hassle and gas with a perfectly fine GT.
I was going to keep trying to get BB to honor the coupon because I wanted the 32gb version, but my first attempt at my local BB failed. So I decided that was not worth the gas and hassle so yesterday I had the Ghost Armor screen protector put on, no returning now.

was not trying to get an unlocked one(would have been nice though) just one without a lot of issues. Samsung support after over 6 hours urged me to take it back for an exchange.

I am not questioning your motive or reason, I would do the same in your shoes. Just saying maybe they have had people doing that, I was about to do that, and he just did not believe you. Which is totaly wrong, he should smile and take the tablet back from you and give you a new one.

They acknowledge that the mgr was wrong in his actions but the item is out of stock and they have no idea when it will come back in stock again. When it does I must pay full price or whatever the going rate is at the time. They will not issue a rain check. Just checked and All of the stores in my area(within 50 miles) now show not available at store for the Gtab and the acer Iconia. What a ripoff. They just decided that the coupon (!00) was too good of a deal and just pulled it from the stores.
You could have exchanged it for an open box unit and then waited for some new ones to do another exchange later. Maybe one of the open box units was like new? The coupon is good until 7/30 so you can keep checking local stock.
And what was wrong with your tab? (just curious...)

Wow that is terrible, so sorry to hear that. Maybe try and bring coupon to BB and see if they will honor it, there have been some success stories of that happening. I think the coupon is good till the 30th, maybe you can get lucky at a BB. They should have given you the rain check since you were able to purchase it in the first place and you recevied one that was faulty.
If I were you I would try one of the open box items, maybe there is nothing wrong with one of them. If you still get the 14 day return policy you can test that one out and if something wrong finally return it or possibly exchange that one in 14 days when they may have more in stock?

It had almost constant black screen freezes and youtube videos would not play without FC. Also constant Samsung apps FC. Also it refused to acknowledge the samsung keyboard I purchase for it. I tried all of the fixes mentioned in this forum and also spend over 6 hours with samsung support to no avail.
Interesting stories about Staples customer service. I bought a 16 GB Galaxy Tab from Staples on the first day of the coupon offer, and got an unopened, unlocked unit that I am very happy with.
But, before I said I wanted to buy one, the salesperson would not go to get one out of the back (so I could examine the specs on the box), which I found strange. And, once I said I wanted to buy, he pushed like crazy to get me to buy the protection plan ($230 on a $400 purchase!!), over and over again, which was very annoying.
I would have much preferred to buy at BB if I knew they would have honored the coupon, but I did end up with a well-performing Tab.

UPDATE: I ended up going to BB and was turned down by mgr and then later that day I found out a staples near BB had one in stock (acer iconia and Motorola xoom) upon arriving there it turned out one was display unit(acer iconia) and the price on the Xoom was 599 instead of 499.00.I decided against both of them. Stopped by BB on way home and was considering buying a TF at full price. Just for fun I asked the sales rep to help me and he replied he was busy and then got this other rep to help me. I asked him if he would honor the staple coupon and he said funny you should ask we just got an email from corporate(he showed it to me) and we are authorized to honor the coupon (just the devices listed in email) if the store nearest us has it in stock I knew the closest store did not so just said if you honor it I will buy the Gtab. He then asked me what color -size etc and I replied 16gb white and he pulled one out of the cage. I thought he would call the nearest Staples but he did not. He just rang it up and told the girl at the main counter it was done according to the email just received. When I got home and unboxed it I found that it was UNLOCKED!!!!! I am go grateful. To be able to get a good Grab in the color I preferred from the start and to find it unlocked is just Amazing. Keep trying BB if you have not picked up a tab with the 100.00 coupon yet.

I really think Asus is doing some quiet back tracking and recalling a lot of these tablets that was sent to US.
This would explain why the local Best Buy's in my area were quite confident that they're shipment was going to be here by the 19th and soon changed their tune to that they didn't know how soon they would get them and that they were suppose to get them earlier but Asus pulled their shipment and they've pulled their new shipment.
I really think that story from Canada about the faulty Primes were true and Asus is being super hush about it with in regards to the US.
This is why there have been so few sold here following the launch.

I assume they figure early adopters wouldn't give a crap. Which they rarely do. I'm just glad we're going to get a next rev tablet. Maybe we'll see an improvement. Maybe they'll carve a hole out of that aluminum slab to fit a proper antenna.

OK guys, amazon messed us up big time. So what I suggest we all do is, wait for them to credit us the 10 dollar they promised and then cancel any orders you have with them and go to another place.
I mean I got my prime from gamestop last night, but still have 2 on preorder from amazon. They got the nerve to send us an email and say we can preorder again and we waited til midnight to do it, and we got the same date as people ordering much later. That's so not right. You'd think they would have it sooner. So by friday you all should be getting the 10 dollar amazon promised. If not call them and as soon as you get it. Drop the preorder.

WoW, if they don't tell you early they are not informing you and if they wait till the last minute they aren't being honest.
Curious to know, were you planning on buying 2 preorders from Amazon or were you going to cancel one or both so they would have to change their inventory allotment again for distribution of preorders? (hint about wherein lies at least part of the problem)

Ok, interesting response. Did Amazon cancel your preorder? Also you addressed my second statement but not my first. This is curiousity only on my part. I originally posted because of what BB just anounced this evening and I was thinking about it in comparison to Amazon letting people know earlier than 3 days before Christmas. To answer your question I don't see how they perpetuated a problem. Which problem are you refering to?

Amazon also said that it was an accident... I'm not on either side here as I already know I'm probably not getting one til next year but I want correct things being argued over. To answer your number 2 question. I order 2, but intend on only keeping one, whichever was available first. At that point I also rushed to preorder at other sites because I had only originaly ordered one from amazon. Seeing as how amazon canceled my order and seeing how there is delays everywhere, I decited to order from several different places hoping that I would get one of them. You see, if Amazon would keep my ONE order, I would not have to run all over the place ordering everywhere else, including reordering 2 from amazon hoping to get one. It turns out that I did get one from gamestop, which now will force me to cancel both amazon orders. You think I like buying from gamestop? I hate them, and I also hate paing taxes. I could have saved by buying from amazon, which I want to, but they have failed me and they failed again on the second preorder sending me back to the end of the line.

I was wondering if best buy will make me pay a restocking fee for returning my transformer. I know it says i can return or exchange it within 14 days but is that only if it is unopened? Or if i fond that it is damaged or has something wrong with it (the only reasons i would return it) would i be able to return it anyways? Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this.

You can return no questions asked as long as it's within 14 days. No restock fee.

How about shipping cost ?
I think I might need to return mine.. the right side edge moves 1/20 of a mm (guesstimate) when pressed down yet no other side moves.. Maybe the glue is coming undone

I received my TFP Dec 28. Called in for RMA number on Dec 29 because of GPS issues, held off sending it back, waiting for XDA wisdom to find a workaround. Then Asus pulled the spec, which I find offensive.
So I called Best Buy back to clarify and confirmed refund when they receive RMA'd unit. Full refund, credited back to card after a few days. So, did the factory reset, cleaned it and put it back in and sent it off via UPS.
Got caught up in the bleeding edge, learned a little.

Why didn't you just return to a store? Seems like it would be easier...
My bigger questions are: did they refund shipping, and are they honoring their holiday return policy for tablets?
Oh, and when does the return period start, when it's ordered or when it's received? I'd have to imagine when it's received, because a week can be lost in shipping, but I'm not positive either way.

Pretty sure the holiday return period does not apply to tablets (one of the exceptions). 14 days.

My order says I have up to 45 days to return the item for a full refund. However I'm also a reward zone silver member so I don't know if that is why or because of the holidays

just returned mine to the store. you get full refund (i got free shipping but when i talked to customer service they said you get shipping refunded as well) . there's a big "flyer" on the counter saying bestbuy has eliminated restocking fees so no need to worry about that.

Not sure when the return period starts, I assume when delivered.
As to shipping, I opted for express shipping, targeted by them for 12.27, negotiated a discount to $10 for that shipping since I was one of the crew who'd originally ordered champagne and had to convert on 12/23. But they didn't deliver until 12/28, so I called back and got refund on shipping, separately from RMA. So shipping in my case was ultimately free, and yes/no is the answer to your question, depending on whether you're a glass half full/empty kind of person. ;-)
As for returning it to brick and mortar store, could have, but more driving in my case. Didn't want an exchange anyhow. I'm going to wait for ICS tablets with a customer use reputation now.

It says on the link posted it is upon receipt of the product is when the return period starts. After all of the drama regarding what Asus has done with the website and customer service responses, I will more than likely return mine and either get a g tab or wait to see if later production models eliminate the issues.

I received an email to take a survey after one of my many phone calls with them. Aside from my excellent experience with the Reward Zone, I gave them a big FAIL on the rest of the survey. As a "valued customer", I've now been invited to speak to someone about my experience. I plan on calling next week. My biggest problem was the complete lack of communication to the CSRs and Supervisors about what we were told via email were our options for replacement ordering the champagne.
Anyway..... The items purchased from BB during the holidays fell under their extended holiday return policy. The its been posted, and it's something like 30days after delivery, tablets are not a excluded, and premium silver members get an additional 14 days

I agree but at the time of purchase, Fry's was selling it at $499 and Amazon for $650!!! for almost $700 (tax included), I got both they keyboard and the Prime where Amazon would have been $800 more.

I went into shock when I saw that too
You just have to wait for amazon to offer it as a official seller (how I got mine).
But I get next day shipping for 3.99 with my free 6 months of amazon prime.

Actually, Amazon has never sold the Prime for anything more than its retail price ($499 for 32GB, $599 for 64GB). Those inflated prices are by people just using Amazon as a storefront. Worse than the inflated price, maybe, is that you don't likely get the same return policy as with Amazon. Basically, buying from those people is pretty much exactly like buying off of eBay.

I got the last one Fry's has on any of their stores in So. Cal. a couple of week ago. I drove from O.C. (Santa Ana) to Oxnard in Ventura county to get it but luckily I had work to do there so my company (I drive a company car) paid for the gas to go there and get it. My gps doesn't work but I was aware of the problem when I purchased it, that is why I still use a Garmin Nuvi 660 for my gps navigation.

While a phones GPS is good in a pinch, i love my nuvi too

I ordered mine from Gamestop online. It's Going to be here Tomorrow (2/20). I ordered it Wednesday (2/15). It would of been here Friday (2/17) Originally, paid $24 to overnight it. Since I never purchased on Gamestop.com with that expensive of a order & different shipping address from Billing address, the system put it on hold till I called from my Billing phone number (Never received email they said they sent). That was Thursday (2/16). Next day called up, to find out cause still never got my shipping notification email. something happened where kicked that error up again, this time the rep said to ship it's verified. Later that day Friday (2/17) i received the email saying there was a issue to call this phone number. This point I am getting way beyond pissed, so called yet again, lady said no it's all set that she just sent emails out. It will be here Tuesday. So I said that's it, I'm NEVER shopping at Gamestop again. I buy all my games and accessories for all my consoles there. I have PSP, PS3, WII, XBOX 360. Plus I purchase their powerup subscription. She was very apologetic for all my issues, explained why everything happened. Then she have me the overnight shipping for free.
On Wednesday before I ordered I wanted to make sure they had it available,.only one they had was the grey 32GB Bundle. It comes with a Bluetooth controller (Looks like a aftermarket PS3 controller). He said that there was a few hundred left of that, but are going fast.

So if you order before Noon, have no hold ups, and overnight it will be there the day after next. (example order on a Tuesday, should receive on that Thursday.) As I said if there is no "hiccups". Few hours later I got email with tracking number I go on UPS to check, sure enough it said Monday.

not so great for canadians but for US its awesome. For me i just bookmarked the Bestbuy, futureshop, visions, and memoryexpress websites to check every day if they had them in stock and i got lucky. Easy as that!

Thanks man. Oddly it is saying my local Game Stop at the mall has stock "been checking for days" lol & swore i checked today. But sure enough it says tonight after they are closed they have some. Gonna call first thing in the am. If they don't i'll order one. I hate waiting, even for 1 day .

OP, you should try Staples as posted by skr_xd or Walmart.
Got mine in Staples store with no wait or shipping fee.
Nice tablet but be aware of the light bleeding and battery life though!

That's why I'm hesitating to get it anywhere else but the Playstore. Was hoping the newer model versions will have some of these defects lessened.

That also means that its a bigger headache if you are wrong and the defects are still there. Main reason why i bought it from a store is so that I can exchange/return it without a restock fee and shipping

Beat me to it...Staples has an extended returning policy until Jan 15 2013, so I can return it in case I change my mind or find a better deal unless they price match.
I cannot say for sure but based on information I collected across the forums and in store, It looks like Staples and Walmart are getting two units per shipment, so you can get one if you are persistent.
Just left Walmart here in Abingdon, MD and they had two in the case

Yes, but be quick though or get the one from Staples first before cancelling your order, they are a few units and are selling like hot cake
Staples employees were actually surprised when I asked and they realized they had one in stock so in my case I was kinda lucky nobody noticed it before I arrived.
I know isn't something cheap but the demand still higher than the supply.

Thanks! For some reason my searches for Nexus on Walmart site are bringing only the 7"model.
Just tried Walmart again and it worked just fine. 7:17am eastern time (New Jersey). Showing in stock with delivery on or before 12/24. You might want to check the Staples site again too. They had them back in stock online as of yesterday.

My wife was able to pick one up at our local Staples today. She called and they actually had multiple in stock. Judging from the website we also would have been able to get one from our local Walmart, but we didn't verify after Staples worked out.

Just bought a 32gb from Staples, got 5% discount from their staples rewards and no waiting game!. This thing is amazing. I think it worked out pretty alright.
Didnt notice any light bleed on mine that everyone has been complaining about. I did notice that the seals were cut before purchasing. Manager said when he put the sample up, he noticed it and saw that all boxes had the seals cut. Not sure what it was but just a couple of dust specs on the screen plastic cover but nothing else. Noticed it was turned out a couple of times in the battery stats but no system information was inputted or setup.
Loving this tablet, my first. Just waiting for my case to come.
