[Q] USB OTG on SGA - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Does the SGA support USB OTG ?? any hacks or workarounds??

1.Try to search before asking such questions which are answered several times.
2. Answer : Currently no support for OTG.

Currently not. Need to patch kernel with modified driver. Nexus one and ZTE blade got the driver, but i've failed miserably to apply it, got nasty error in kernel headers

Try to download USB OTG Helper, then connect your flash drive, open the app and hit the mount button. It's working for me with Rage kernel and ICS

Hardware problem
I think your problem is a hardware problem.
I bought a cable with mini at one end and female usb on the other end, i guess is the same as you got.
It wasnt working at first and I had to strip open the mini tip of the cable to short pin 4 and 5 so the phone would recognize host mode.
Search for how to do a otg cable on the forum.
*****NOT SURE IF THATS YOUR PROBLEM****** but it happened to me so....
Good luck.

FXP kernels don't support USB OTG by the way. And high memory (power-consuming)
flash drives cannot be detected. So if you hadn't, better try a 2 or 4gb drive.
If that doesn't work then I'm curious to know your phone model, ROM and kernel combo.

I think all minicm7-based ROMs support usb hosting... Of course, before being able to use minicm7, you will have to unlock your bootloader, flash a new kernel, etc.
If you don't understand what I just said, search the x10 mini forums, there are many tutorials regarding this...
Please press thanks if I helped .

There is a thread in the x10mini pro dev section for usb-host, with circuitry for the cable, but it won't work, it's not android related, it's just that our phones don't have a usb-host controller. They were trying to work around it but i think they've given up. Our phones don't have power-out on the usb-port for certain, so you would have to use an external power-source, but even then i doubt it works.

It doesn't work.

I downloaded this file from the forum, but I'm not sure that it works, and I don't want to damage my phone.

I'm using stock kernel mate, my bootloader is still locked.
I didn't know that usb-otg has specific kernel requirement.
So, is that where the problem lies mate? the kernel?
Thank for the response

Okay, sorry, I guess I was wrong. Thought you have to change the kernel, but it's not really necessary. Sorry for that!
Check that
