[Q] Connect a usb pendrive with otg cable - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm new.............sorry for my bad english!
Some days ago I bought an OTG cable to connect a pendrive to my phone.
It doesn't work.
I think that 5380i doesn't support this type of connection.
Is there a program or a workaround to make it possible??
I downloaded this file from the forum, but I'm not sure that it works, and I don't want to damage my phone.
kernel_usbhost_build3_jvugalaxys.zip
Thank you for any answers

Yes, this is possible - It is called Reverse Tethering. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371345.
If you're using Windows system on your PC, you can see my post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429734 , you need root your phone first.
however, some applications does not work (or work well) with USB net.
It was fast to surf the net when you use the USB cable.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A

[Q] USB OTG on SGA

Does the SGA support USB OTG ?? any hacks or workarounds??
1.Try to search before asking such questions which are answered several times.
2. Answer : Currently no support for OTG.
Currently not. Need to patch kernel with modified driver. Nexus one and ZTE blade got the driver, but i've failed miserably to apply it, got nasty error in kernel headers

Hardware problem
I think your problem is a hardware problem.
I bought a cable with mini at one end and female usb on the other end, i guess is the same as you got.
It wasnt working at first and I had to strip open the mini tip of the cable to short pin 4 and 5 so the phone would recognize host mode.
Search for how to do a otg cable on the forum.
*****NOT SURE IF THATS YOUR PROBLEM****** but it happened to me so....
Good luck.

(ROOT+BUSYBOX)
FXP kernels don't support USB OTG by the way. And high memory (power-consuming)
flash drives cannot be detected. So if you hadn't, better try a 2 or 4gb drive.
If that doesn't work then I'm curious to know your phone model, ROM and kernel combo.

I think all minicm7-based ROMs support usb hosting... Of course, before being able to use minicm7, you will have to unlock your bootloader, flash a new kernel, etc.
If you don't understand what I just said, search the x10 mini forums, there are many tutorials regarding this...
Please press thanks if I helped .

There is a thread in the x10mini pro dev section for usb-host, with circuitry for the cable, but it won't work, it's not android related, it's just that our phones don't have a usb-host controller. They were trying to work around it but i think they've given up. Our phones don't have power-out on the usb-port for certain, so you would have to use an external power-source, but even then i doubt it works.

Please don't create new thread for every question. There's already Moto E : Questions will be answered thread in General section. Ask there and your question shall be answered by anyone.

Haven't tested. But its unlikely that it will work with just root. There might be some modifications needed. Provided the port on Moto E can deliver sufficient power, if it doesn't additional power and a y-cable might be required.
Just traversing possibilities.

Well, I think asking a question in the Q&A section is preferable. That's what this sub-forum is for. Also, having a thread for question is better for indexing and search results than a misc question thread.
So, unless the question is been in FAQs, or one of the pinned guides, this is where it belongs.

But External Hard Drives require more power than the nomal pen drives .. So it won't run !
