Modern Warfare 3 not compatible?!! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I tried downloading from the market and when I launch it, it says, this is not compatible with your device, please request a refund.
that sucks, I like that game. Has anyone been able to load it?

Nope, Gameloft needs to update it for our GNotes. That is the number 1 game I can't wait to play on this thing, hopefully soon we'll see an update....although not holding breath.

I've found that quite a few games are failing on the Note. Apparently the Note is being reported to the app as being a Tablet, and so they're throwing that incompatible notice... which sucks obviously.

Yes, the main games that I'm interested in aren't compatible just yet. Thankfully my scrabble games are to keep me preoccupied for the moment

you could root the phone and change the build.prop file to reflect the Note as like an HTC Vision or something, then everything should work.

From what I've read I was of the understanding that it would be a low resolution version in comparison to our Notes, is that not correct?

Will give it shot then, thanks. I'm rooted but haven't messed with anything like that yet, I'll post my results.
Edit - I've changed the build.prop but it must be incorrect in some way. After a reboot, I can see Modern Combat 3 and Real Racing 2 in the Market. I've downloaded them both but neither work. For MC3 I get "This game is not compatible with this device" message and for RR2 it won't even load.

I believe some may be checking the screen resolution on startup, and would then still fail regardless of a build.prop change.

I don't think so, it might be the resolution that it's detecting as well, maybe try setting it to 240.

It was working on my international note and transferred it over to the att note and doesn't work. Can't be the resolution

Did you modify your international Note at all to get it working?

I downloaded MC3 and Real Soccer 2012 both on my phone and they both said "Incompatible request refund" on start up and wouldn't download the files.
So i did some editing on the build.prop. I changed ro.product.model, ro.product.device, and ro.product.name all to GT-N7000. (GT-N7000 is the international note if you didn't realize.) Go figure, after making the change and rebooting, I launched the game and it downloaded all the files needed. And now, the game runs flawlessly.
This is on a less than 2 week old rooted AT&T Galaxy Note with 2.36 Saurom NOT overclocked but it should work on any AT&T Galaxy Note as long as your rooted.
Try it!

I'm just takin a guess here but you might want to change your model name in build.prop from sgh-i717R to just sgh-i717. Not sure where the 'R' came from but it might be causing the market to think its some other model.

I don't think that's the issue. I think the issue is your ROM. On stock, S Pen apps work perfectly fine, but as far as I know, Saurom is based of AOSPs and is different from the Touchwiz'd version of Gingerbread that Samsung uses.

I'm starting to agree. I changed all of my entries to i717 without the R and it's still not working. We need figure out what exactly it is that the market checks to determine compatibilty. Any ideas?
Did you by chance mess with your LCD density? If you did then it very well may be the culprit. Try to change it back to 320 which is the stock Note density and let us know if it works or not.

I believe there's nothing really to do. You could try sideloading the APK from someone else's phone, but I am presuming you (or someone else) has tried that. There's nothing to do because Saurom is simply a different framework from Touchwiz'd GB. That's one of the trade-offs you get for all the extra benefits, I guess.
Which app(s) are you having trouble with?

For some reason I thought the stock density was supposed to be 285.. Can anyone confirm the correct value? I never changed mine but if it is, and the ROM sets it at 320, maybe that's the culprit
320 is default. I messed with mine before and had some weird/bad results so I put it back to default.
Maybe if I played with Overskreen more the lower levels might be interesting.
I just checked my build.prop on the stock rom and it is set to 320.

Yea its definitely 320 so Im currently searching through other values and settings looking for the cause. I've removed the "R" from my model number everywhere I found it so that's not the problem. Hopefully it turns out to be some file or setting that can be modified, and not the framework issue mentioned earlier because there will probably be more apps in the future that are affected as well.

Thank you for your interest in Gameloft games. Unfortunately, this game is not available on your type of phone. Our development team work on bringing new games on all types of phones. Hopefully, this game will be released on your phone too. Please check our site for other great games for your phone.
To see games selection please enter Gameloft.com into the search engine of your browser directly on your device. If some game is not listed, it's no use trying to get it. It will not work and it is not meant to work. We'll release it later specifically on your type of phone.

Works fine for me. I found it on the net somewhere and installed it, let it download the 1 GB of extra data it needed, and it's been playing fine for me. You need to make sure you get the right version for any of the games you are trying to play. Often the version numbers are like 1.2.3 1.2.4, etc. that last number generally corresponds to the model the build is for, so 1.2.3 is not necessarily an older version than 1.2.4, it's just how they label it.

There is nothing to do with custom rom.I dont know only for aosp rom, but with custom Samsung rom the game keep says that is incompatible.
Maybe the users who runnning max payne using a moddified id in build.prop (i havent test it yet)?
the same happened with MC3, GTA 3 etc.
The solution I found with MC3 (when it was not yet free on Sam Apps and not yet "compatible" with S3) is to buy it direct on Gameloft website and they will send you a sms with a link to a direct APK download.
Whereas the above worked with Gameloft, it did not work with Rockstar games for GTA 3. I contacted the support and they just said: yeah its not working with your phone (they redirected me to a page with a list of compatible devices and S3 was not on there). Found the APK then in other sources (will not disclose here due to forum rules), whereas I would be more than willing to pay.

Well, as someone has already said, you can only download it when you are on an AOSP ROM (or, at least, it has worked for me on CM9). I don't know why Samsung ROMs make the phone incompatible with the game.

It's not that it won't play stock, it's because it is being phased out by Adobe. They canned it from the Market sometime in August and will no longer be making regular updates to it, in order to progress movement over to HTML5 content.

Actually, Adobe and Samsung made an agreement to keep Flash updated for the Galaxy S3, which also means for the Galaxy Note 2 as well since they have almost identical hardware/software. Flash was just updated again a couple weeks ago to .34. I've been using .29 on my devices.
And even though the latest Flash versions are only for the S3, they will work on most any device running Jellybean.
The following thread is keeping updated with the latest versions of Flash, along with text and video tutorials on how to install:

Next day they replied that they will update Google Play within the next few days. 12/18 I get an email that the case had been closed and to rate their support and as of today 12/21 it's still not listed as compatible. Funny thing is all the different carrier Note IIs have the same Exynos 4412 SoC CPU/GPU so it's pretty much guaranteed compatibility. It's physically compatible, they just have a flag set on their purchase requirement somwhere that says our device isn't. Knowing how software requirements work, I promise there is a set of specs that Google Play ensures our devices meets before offering an App. While our device meets all the physical specs, I bet there is some missing item that is unique to the Verizon model, such as our particular model number. People could test my theory if there was a way to trick play into thinking you were a different model number. Anyone know how to achieve that?
I sent an email to the developers on the day of release because our phone was listed as compatible in their description. They asked for my model number and said it would be available in a couple of days. Still nothing.

I have it running on mine with no issue. It wasn't compatible on the Play Store, but I just emulated another device with Bluestacks, then transferred the APK to my Note II.
I sent a email to them the second day of releasing and I got no reply then a week later I get this "We at rockstar do not know the release date of vice city for your specific device but we are trying hard to get it to all android users" I was like on f*ck it ill keep playing gta 3.

I have not installed this game on here, but when I installed it on my tablet which was supposedly supported it didn't run. I downloaded a pirated copy of it and it worked fine. I emailed Rockstar and told them what I had done. They offered me a refund, but I declined it lol.
I just got my VZW Note II today to replace my VZW GS3.
I find it interesting that currently, GTA: Vice City is compatible with my GS3 but not my Note II and for Max Payne, its vice versa.
I hope they make both games compatible with both phones soon. This fragmentation can be a pain at times.

Here try it. Its the one I'm using to get the game (as you can tell by my signature). Just back up your build.prop by adding .bak at the end of your original one (im sure you know this already), extract the zip and put the build.prop in. Make sure the permissions are correct. Then reboot and go n get the game! Haven't been able to stop playing it

i dont get why some of you are going out of your way to modify your phone to buy the app
they messed up ..let them pay the price
dont go off doing something thats going to cause you bootloops and waste hours of your time
pirate the game and be done with it ...we all kno that every1 is going to buy gtav anyway, so its not like they aren't going to get money out of you down the road

Modding the framework is extremely simple. Just do a edit the small lines which takes about 10 seconds, reboot n bam there it is its not hard at all. N the reason he got boot loops was because he didn't fix permissions. But you can go ahead and pirate the game n be the reason why we don't have some of the great games and apps iOS has that android doesn't. Because of piracy

We don't have as many games as iOS because optimizing a game for one phone (latest iPhone) is easier than trying to optimize a game for 5+ flagship phones that have different resolutions, hardware and OS.
You don't even need to jailbreak anymore to pirate apps on an iOS device.

This particular case is not one of development. The game has been ported and works on all Galaxy Note 2s, and was ported by Rockstar. In fact, you can find it on the play store for the other Galaxy Note 2s. I have even run it on mine after pirating it, but they've screwed up and it doesn't appear in the play store so I can't legitimately install it.
I submitted a ticket as well days after it was released. After going back I was told it will be added in a few days, then in a few days the ticket was closed but it still didn't work. There was now way to reply to the ticket so I just gave up.
