Hello guys,
I've been following xda photon forums from the start. I must say that i like what you guys do here and your communication, being helpful and nice to each other. Devs are friendly, owners are like buddies. Honestly, MoPho forums draw a picture in my mind for what it should have been like in all other motorola forums @xda. I own razr xt910 and atrix now. Just decided to trade my atrix for the photon. Atrix is a great device but it doesn't excite me anymore. It's not that i need a photon but cant resist myself of getting one especially after the free msl code guide.
Wish me luck for the trade since i'm looking after a straight trade.

I think the fact that the Photon is not as popular as the EVO3D, SGSII, etc. is an advantage when it comes to this forum and the type of peeps participating. I remember how bad some of the other phone forums got after growing with users. Everybody started complaining, fighting, and most the devs, sorry to say, were just plain jerks. In there defense though they were getting stupid questions asked time after time after time from lazy, immature users who didn't want to read first.
The other great thing is that this phone is better stock than most other phones are so not as many peeps having to flash a new rom every hour to get things to work. The roms we do have in this forum are quality and backed by devs willing to provide any support needed.
After being on the EVO 4G forums, and Droid X Forums, boy, I hated the rude people. But after all, we have only had one major fight break out here, and I had to call in the mods to clean some trashy mouths up. But, only one. I am friends with every user, (I think that the one who got into a verbal fight with me left the forums, so now I can honestly say,) every user on the MoPho forums. We are the nicest people just trying to help one another in anyway we can. (Please join the XDA Fan Group by clicking below on my Signature.)
guess most of those "rude people" must be some kids who got too excited on a new phone. Photon is for men, lol... I found popular forums (xda, ppcgeecks, androidforums...) are always helpful.

I think you can block curse words bubb the rest of us I think are over 16/18. We can handle the words of the curse

If you look at my signature, SPB 3D Shell is giving me a headache at the moment, but I love my phone. Get Otterbox Defender over GhostArmor to protect that baby!
Coming from the EVO 4G since it's launch, I've definitely seen my share of arguments and rudeness on both XDA and the Androidforums website.
The community for the Photon seems smaller but not less served. We already have a nearly stable CM7, a Miui port, and our CM9 is well on the way to being on par with the EVO 4G's.
The only thing we're missing is some themed roms, but it is of little consequence, specially if you use CM7 and utilize the theme manager.
I've come from the Samsung Galaxy S, it was good and lots of development but the crappy GPS annoyed me, couldn't get a fix unless you're under a clear sky.
Loving the Photon, gives me a fix down to 6m indoors on a rainy day in just a few seconds! Also the notification LED is really nice.
Its funny how no one had this phone but when a little development comes around all these new people pop up randomly lol. Good luck with your trade, and if its successful hope you enjoy the best device on sprint's network!

You will never fully enjoy your phone until you ditch that launcher bro lol. I understand that many paid 15 bucks for it so you guys are clinging to it but its bad, Michael Jackson bad (aka it sucks).

I bought the Photon on launch day. But I came here hoping to find development works. I don't have those skills (or that time) but I am grateful to those of you who do.
Meanwhile, I like the phone, and I like the community. I assumed there were similar communities around most of the phones, though.
It's a very good phone. Just watch out for the texting issues.

Hello guys,
Will finish the trade on monday. For starters i know a lot about the photon, there is no texting issue or whatsoever. It is one of rare stable stable out of the box android phones in history.
Let me preface this post by saying that I just purchased my DNA on Saturday and am really liking it so far. So I do own the phone and am not trying to start any kind of war. I'm starting this thread with the sole intention of making sure I made the right decision and to get some discussion going about it.
I sold my GS3 to get the DNA and I had a Razr Maxx before the GS3. Other than those two, I have had all HTC phones. The Incredible, Thunderbolt, Rezound and now DNA. I loved the Incredible, absolutely hated the Thunderbolt and just thought the Rezound was so-so. The Rezound killed me how much lag it had for great specs at the time. And the dev community was fairly small and short lived.
Does anyone think that the DNA is going to follow the Rezound's footsteps? Especially now hearing rumors of the M7, is this thing going to have a small dev community and then just fade away?
Just wanted some opinions, thanks!

Fairly small and short lived? There is still active development in the Rezound. The only reason it didn't have a lot was mainly due to the flame wars. Everyone got chewed out over there. The DNA just dropped and it is going to take some time but everything will come together. Virus is working on a ROM, I think the Viper team is as well and we will have s-off soon. Just be patient
EDIT: Just checked the Rez forum. At least five ROMs from this month and I barely checked. You also have to keep in mind that this phone dropped at an awkward time. People are rushing around for the holidays and a lot of devs are either tied up in family affairs or they are students who are busting it to get through finals lol

My apologies, I guess I went a little overboard with my statement. It's probably because I didn't have my Rezound very long and I didn't keep up on the development page here on XDA. My bad.
That is good to hear that those devs are working on ROM's! I will definitely keep my eye out.

I'm just glad to see Verizon finally getting behind an HTC phone. In my local store, the DNA has a huge chunk of real estate on the wall.
The commercials are crazy... Looks like a trailer for a new Star Wars film. But whatever. I hope it puts HTC back on the map.

While I've never been a big poster on XDA, I have posted on various developers sites. After almost two years sticking right by my trusty 3vo, I am sadly moving on.
My phone was stolen over the weekend. I tracked it down with lookout, but was only able to get a general location from signal flare when the phone died. I had the option of paying $100 for a replacement, or $50 to upgrade +phone. $250 and one Optimus G later, here I am.
Point of this thread is to say thank you to all the amazing devs we have for the 3vo. I have donated a little here and there where I could, but still wanted to just say thank you for giving us your time to make our community what it is. Hope the Optimus community turns out to be as amazing as this one was.

Latest LG Optimus looks pretty decent.
I was going to go with the Evo 4G LTE or the Optimus, but when I learned about Ting (on Sprint) I decided against getting locked into another 2 year contract. Instead I picked up a used (but great condition) Evo 3D for $80 shipped and now enjoying an average 50% break on my monthly cellular bill! :good:

Sorry to hear that bro. The evo is an amazing phone and will still be a testament of legendary as years go by and all of us have moved on. I still got my evo 3d and continue to update it and tinker around with it. Because root is awesome and flashing is an addiction lol.

How many developer's are left here in the amaze section. I see other devs that left or can't wait to leave. While I notice the guy Justin LaMantia donated one of is his phone and who has many more. It sounds like out of all the phones he has if any. He is still using his HTC AMAZE. So the question is how many devs are and could we see more devas?
I'm friends are diehard Samsung fans... So they seen a htcone and started in on how much better the screen is on the S4 better compared to the htcone I simply pulled out this picture
And walked away and have not heard a word from them on the subject

Originally I was on the Samsung bandwagon but never owned the device. The company seemed to make all the right decisions at the time.
Then I got my HOX and bought my sis her S3... Then I knew HTC was doing big things just not getting much credit. My One's screen is just amazing.

just to add i let the same few buddies play with my HONE and now they hare considering buying a ONE lol they loves how fluid it is compared to crapwiz

That is what she said, verbatim. I almost wanted to punch myself in the face for just hearing something that incredibly ignorant. I know everyone is saying "just ignore them" yadda yadda yadda. I disagree and here is why:
HTC isn't Apple or Samsung. Several reviewers have called the HTC One the "hail mary" before they bite the dust, and they may be right. If we want to see HTC keep building these amazing devices, we have to educate in order to make a sell in order to keep them in business. We are the nerds that friends and family go to when they have a question about their phones (and computers too, of course). They may say something like "well the Apple commercial said the iPhone can do THIS!" or "the Samsung commercial said the Galaxy can do THAT". We know what ALL phones are capable of doing because it's our passion. Everyone, at least in the HTC forums, know that our phone can trump nearly every feature on both the iPhone 5 and the GS4, thus, we need to show off our phones capabilities whenever we are hanging out with our friends or family.
TL;DR: If the HTC One doesn't sell well, it may be the last HTC phone ever. Show off your phone and keep them in business! :good:

So, basically, your argument is that you should be allowed to bash other phones and cause random flame wars just because it might, somehow, convince someone to buy a HTC phone. That's never going to work.
1. You're going to be arguing/disputing/whatever with a fanboy. Not someone who doesn't know anything about mobile hardware and the difference between a "Galaxy" and a "HTC," but a full-blown fanboy. They're never going to buy whatever phone you're forcing them to consider.
2. Even if it was someone who wasn't a fanboy, you arguing and trying to make them see that your phone is the god of all phones isn't exactly going to make them buy it--if anything they're less likely, because since you were so militantly trying to justify why anybody would buy your phone it would seem that there is some buyer's remorse, at least in their eyes.
3. Like I said in my other post, flame wars do NOTHING. They don't affect overall phone sales and they don't prove anything. There are probably thousands if not millions of iSheep who believe iPhones are by far the best phones and will take that opinion to their grave. Doesn't change the fact that Apple's losing market share and that Apple's stock is in a downward spiral.
But if you really want to go ahead and be a fanboy, go ahead. I really don't care. Just don't let it get in the way of real discussion. Also, it'd be great if you didn't automatically assume everything Samsung makes is crap just because it's a Samsung. Not everyone shares your opinion. I personally hate Apple but I have to admit the iPhone 5 is a pretty good phone. It's just not something I would like. Just a suggestion.
