moving to another phone after this will be impossible - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

phablet they say...
I swear, every time I hold my wife's iphone 4 - it feels so small and weird now. I cant believe I was using it for the past 2 years almost.
The screen size of the Note has totally spoilt me. I cant see myself going to a regular size phone now.

+1 to the Infuse being much smaller. I used to think that was huge and my friends all thought it was a monstrosity. The Infuse feels so tiny and mega portable now though. They all think the Note is insane. Haha. They do all seem to like it though, especially the HD screen.
Now that I have my Note, there's no way I'm going back to a smaller screen. The only way I could go smaller is if it's still at least 5 inches and a 1080p screen, though 5.3" seems to be perfect for me. Any bigger, I can't each that top left corner with my thumb. Any smaller, I would be wishing for a larger screen. Hopefully Samsung continues and expands the Galaxy Note line. Seems they're promoting it pretty hard, so hopefully they get enough of a response to continue it long into the future.

Lol yea I went from Motorola Backflip to Atrix to Infuse 4g to Galaxy Note. Never had a phone with the same screen size...just can't do it. 3.5 to 4 to 4.5 to 5.3. Right now on my 10.1" lol.

I played with my iPod touch yesterday. Was actually surprised how easy it was to type on and use, despite how tiny it felt.
For me, there's no beating the Note on the phone front, though. Could never go back to an iPhone now.

I've been on a phablet for over a year now, Dell Streak now SG Note.
No way I could ever go back to a toy with a sub 5" screen

I love it! Went from Captivate to Infuse to G Note. The screen size is perfect for me. Excellent job Samsung...keep it up.

Agreed! The only thing we can do now is go bigger. I'm hoping for a 5.7" or 6.0" phone with a bluetooth headset. I felt like an ass the first week I was using my Note. Now it feels completely normally and anytime I grab anything smaller it just feels silly and unusable.

if u took away the top and bottom portions, you could probably get 5.7",or maybe 6" in the exact same size as the note (just thin bezzle)

I went straight from the motorola backflips 3.2 in. Screen to the note and I love it!

So true. I could not go back to another phone for anything. If they went to a Bezel free just think what we would have. I can't wait. 5.7 would fit into this frame no sweat. Just think this thing with quad core and 2 gig of ram and shazam!!!!!! I would love a little better camera. But I love my note.

I will be ok with a galaxy s3 with a 4.8

I went to BB today today and was checking out the Galaxy Nexus. Dam, even at 4.6 it felt tiny. Holding the Galaxy S2 was worse! I remember when i thought the S2 was big lol.
I really wish they would go with at least a 5" display for the Galaxy S3.

Couldn't agree more. Can't touch anything else. Went back to a skyrocket for a minute and couldn't stand it. I think it's the screen resolution for me mostly along with the size. I can't even touch a iPhone. It's a toy to me now.

Had to use my wife's Evo yesterday...

and it felt TINY!!!
it was really a mind bender. the phone that was at one time the biggest and fastest phone on the market felt like a tiny slug. it was pretty surreal... 3 weeks ago the Evo felt big... now it feels tiny.
I am loving the GNote and haven't had a second thought about the purchase (except that i am exchanging the blue for a white one)...
This reminds me that back in mid-2010...I nearly switched to Sprint because of the EVO. I remember that I was drooling over it after testing one out for a few minutes.
But, I decided that it wasn't worth the switch just for the phone...due to the rather spotty coverage and slow data speeds in LA.

HAHAHa i can top that. I had to use my GF's iPhone 4s for a day YUCKY! Damn it was insanely small. I am thinking about exchanging my white note for a black/blue one. My GF talked me into getting the one. I think it looks really nice and flashy and will deff grab more attention when you whip it out. Ive already gotten in like 4 convos with people about it this week lol.
But i like how the black is slick and clean. Not sure though yet Did you have to pay a restocking fee? I'm gonna have my GF call tomorrow and see if they would wave it being i paid $650 cash for mine.
What made you want a white over the black/blue?
Agreed.
Gotta admit the truth that most phones are starting to look like pieces of toys to me right now. After using the galaxy note for a moment, I started to have the thought of "Isn't this phone starting to look a bit small to me now?" When I looked on the other side, someone's Iphone4,then again I realized it was the galaxy note that have deluded me in such a way that the size of it is comparable to any other phones out there which is in fact not the true case.
Before using the galaxy note, Iphones and other smartphones look decent in size and nice to use with, but after getting my hands on the galaxy note, just felt like..."meh...aint that just another 'toy' phone right there? (takes out my galaxy note and start using it)".
Doubt I could use any other smartphones right now due to their sizes unless emergency issues arise...

I got into 5 convo's with random people since Saturday about the phone. People are fascinated by it and always laugh at how big it is. As soon as they pick it up and start playing with, seeing the screen and what not, they all realize that.. wow... this actually works as a phone.
I look at it now and I say to myself ----- perfect
re: note
You know how girls are.......they get really excited around something BIG. They don't get that privilege very often
You think that is small. I looked at my wires iPhone yesterday and couldn't believe how small it was.
My wife has the HTC Magic, with a 3.2" screen. It really feels tiny and slow now. The screen is dull and with such a low DPI small text looks blurry.

I borrowed my roommate's HTC Aria for a visual aid to a speech in my Public Speaking class, and it's soooo comically tiny compared to my Note. It got a few chuckles out of the class when I held them up next to each other, but I think it really drove home the point that Android offers a wide variety of sizes that will suit anybody and everybody. It's crazy to think that our screen is 2.1" bigger than that of the Aria though, and so much higher definition.
Also, since his screen was cracked, I offered to fix it for him. My fat hands had such a hard time taking it apart, but it took me about a half hour overall, and he now has perfect glass again. I think I would enjoy taking apart my Note so much more with the size of my hands, because there would be so much more room for my fingers. Haha.
Holding my Infuse now feels like a joke. I can't believe it was the biggest screen for android not that long ago. I could never go back to something smaller than the Note now. I am fully adjusted to it, and my thumb can reach the whole screen; it really is the perfect size for me.

I have a buddy who is an iPhone fan. Just likes not having to mess with stuff and having stuff work. He liked the Dell Streak I had, but wasn't a big fan of how much I messed with it. This weekend I let him play with the Note and he loved it, his kids both loved it, and now they all want one. Then I took his iPhone and laid it across the Note to show him that I had a little more than twice the screen real estate.
Even messing with my gf's Skyrocket, it feels like a toy now. I can't believe how BIG I used to think 4.5 was. They called it behemoth, gigantic, super-sized display and now...its Standard. "Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke"

Am I the only evo3d owner who thinks EVO LTE to big?

I handled an EVO 4g LTE today and I have to say I would have preferred the 4.3" screen size of the 3d with the internals of the EVO lte of course with hd resolution.
I have one on order on my sprint store and not sure if I will upgrade. Don't get me wrong the screen is awesome looking but I am not sure about the size.
With the galaxy nexus, gs3, and EVO lte as the top high end phones are we going to be forced to a larger screen size if we want the latest technology? Will anyone come out with high end phones with smaller 4.3" screens?

btw. Men get bigger things to make their small **** look better. hahaha. Yeah, the phones are getting "too" big. If I want a tablet, I'll go buy one.
Honestly, I don't mind it as long as it fits in your hands well and slides in the pocket smoothly. Personally, I prefer bigger screens as long as they're not too big.
No sir this TINY EVO 3D is killing me... I hated the fact that it was not as wide as the OG EVO. AND I SLIGHTLY WISH it was a 4'8 or 4'9 inch screen
think of all those stupid iphone users. lol. They think they have rock solid phones. lol. soooooo small. could never go that small. However, I put mine in an Otter Box. The smaller and larger the phones get... means breaking phones. Maybe they'll come out with a phone with OLED that allows us to pull out a screen of our size and is paper thin? of course you know some jackass company like apple will put a patient on that and claim it belongs to them when WE INVENTED IT! NOT THEM! then no one will be able to use the technology!
My first phone was a Evo 4G, so 4.3" is what I started out at. I'm ready for an upgrade in size. Especially after playing with my friends Galaxy Nexus that he just got, I'm SO jealous of that screen. It's huge and videos look ****ing incredible on it. Even with it being that large, it's still very easy to handle in the hand. Especially since Samsung is smart and puts the unlock/power button on the side instead of on the top.
I use to say 4.7 is the "barely usable size"then I held a ONE X... Now 5 in and up to me is unusable.
4.7in is perfect for me lol

I bought my wife an Evo 4G LTE as a mother's day gift (thank you customs for dragging out that surprise...) And I have to say I'm kinda jealous. The size isn't bad at all. Maybe it won't fit in your pocket if you wear tight, pulled down, tapered jeans but that's who iPhones are for ;p
The battery life also beats the 3d hands down. We were running down the battery and the darn thing wouldn't die. It was about 5 hours of screen on time over a 2 day period. Very jealous! Lets see what the rest of the year brings. I'm not to excited about the GS3 so I may get an evo as well.

I gave my wife the 3D and have the LTE.
I was concerned it would be too big. It's absolutely not. I love it.
Use it for a week and you'll think the 3D is too small.
It's actually closer to the original EVO 4G. Which I liked for size.
The slight difference in size makes a huge difference on making less mistakes on the keyboard.
My biggest gripe with the LTE is they removed the Search and Menu buttons at the bottom and added a Most Recent apps button. Really stupid move.
Some people have remapped the most recent apps button to MENU.
Yea when I use her LTE I find myself missing the menu button. I couldn't, with a good conscience give my wife my 3D and keep the LTE, hehe it was Mothers day! I used my line upgrade for it too! Her upgrade comes in September. I'll have to hold out! On the bright side,i can see how the development scene goes, Haha.

The original 4g was the sweet spot....it was the perfect size. The 3d has always felt too small in comparison and the portrait keyboard isn't easy to type on like the 4g. Now, as for the new LTE......they can keep it.....I have no desire for it whatsoever. It's too big and I have great WiMAX. No LTE til probably late next year. Additionally, after playing with one, it quite honestly doesn't feel like much of an upgrade to me. No thanks!

The international Galaxy Tab 7.7 has a GSM option with a mic and headset, as does the 10.1. They both sold decently well. There are people out there who only use a bluetooth headset to make calls, so what does the size of the device making them matter? Most days I could carry my 7.7 as my only device and use a secondary phone for times when I go to bars/concerts/events and need a more pocketable device.

I love this thing!

Sorry if this post doesn't really add much but I have to say, I love this device! It is absolutely solid and almost as easy to hold as the n7 with build quality that puts it to shame!
I don't know how anyone can say this thing feels or is cheap feeling at all. The finish on this feels awesome and the device has zero flex in it. I even like the shape! iPad can go to hell. 10 hours of battery life for my usage, an amazing screen and it is faster than any high end android device I've had a chance to use. Samsung and Google hit this thing out of the park.
I really hope whenever my n4 comes in that it can hold up to the example set with the 10.
Only thing I'm worried about is how long I will have to wait for my screen and body protector to come in the mail. Some cases and the mag power connector need to get here fast too.
Anyone else here feel the same?

But I do love this tablet. Samsung makes beautiful devices. Loved the GTab 10.1 and now this. The screen is stunning. I compared viewing a high-res 24mp image (6000x4000) with an Asus TF Infinity and the difference is staggering o.o Don't believe people who say the screen isn't that much better than 1080p. It sure is, providing you have high-res sources.
can't wait to get mine this Wednesday

Loving mine already have it unlocked, CWM and Rooted just waiting for some AOKP.
stop with all the praises..lol i have too many tablets already. i want a nexus 10 ;(
i have a feeling i will get one soon. either that or microsoft surface.
I love mine....I can't understand the neg reviews either. The screen is absolutely gorgeous!
My only probs are that we need more quality tablet apps, and I wish the battery was a bit higher capacity.
After owning the orig Verizon moto Xoom, the orig Transformer, and Nex 7... I have to say this is a joy to use

The negative reviews was basically Engadget and PCmag, the rest were positive but also mentioned the ipad 4 being superior. I have a few theories as to why this tablet is betting some hate despite the specifications and excellent Samsung manufacturing and design. I truly believe these theories to be quite accurate as well. The hate I believe stems from three camps. The Samsung haters(there are a lot including Engadget), the Infinity owners, and the ipad 3/4 owners.
The Samsung hater theory is self explanatory.
The Asus owners are basically trying to justify how crappy their tablet runs by emphasizing the few minor features that the infinity has over the Nexus 10.
The ipad 3/4 owners are the same as the infinity owners except their tablet runs great but they are still insecure and throw some hate at the Nexus 10 because they are jealous that their retina display got beat and how much thinner/lighther, less expensive, the Nexus 10 is. They also are hating on how cool it runs compared to the literally scorching ipad 3.
Basically player hating.
the screen is just beautiful and colors are not washed out like nexus 7.. didnt notice any light bleed, as long as I dont notice any bleed in my day to day use, I dont care if there is any.. I plan to use this to occasionally watch movies stored in my desktop.. for browsing or lugging around the house, nexus 7 will do..will wait for aokp build and root it..want to enjoy pure android a lil before I load custom rom..
Just got mine in...still setting it up but so far so good. The screen is absolutely amazing and the swipe keys work good as well. I can already say without a doubt that it does not suffer from the stuttering seen on the tf700. Love it love it love it

Same here. This is my first Android device, and I can honestly say I'm blown away by how much more open it is.
haven't put it down since pulling it out of the box on Friday. Screen is amazing and it runs flawlessly. The only reason I'm even going to root is install AdFree and have full access to Root Explorer, other than that I see no need to mess w/ custom Roms, it has all I want and need!

It is indeed a thing of great beauty. :victory:
This is the experience I was expecting when I bought my Prime last year. This runs circles around the Prime and I agree with Tomatoes8 on his N10 hate theories. Can't imagine the tablet experience being much better than this. Also, the boot time blew my mind compared to the Prime. I would imagine with updates etc that the N10 will only get better.

Got a Nexus 4. Decided to keep the Amaze.

Well my long awaited Nexus 4 came today, and after using it for a few hours, I decided to keep my Amaze.
My main problems with the Amaze - poor battery life and crap Sense OS - have finally been alleviated with a new 1900mA battery and CM10.
Don't get me wrong, the Nexus is a beautiful device, great weight, good battery, very fast, lovely screen. However I agree with some reviewers that the screen is a little washed out, and the
Amaze definitely has a better camera. Most importantly, I was pretty sure that I would break or scratch that back pretty quickly. I like to be able to pocket my phone so that means no cases, and even banging up against a car door might be enough to shatter the back if it was in my pocket.
Last September I was in the La Merce fireworks parade in Barcelona and my amaze got knocked out of my hands face down on cobblestones where several people trampled it. Other than a nick on the corner it showed no damage at all. Now imagine that had been a Nexus 4. Dead phone.
Not worth it. I'll take the rugged Amaze with its excellent camera and CM10 and someone else can have a nice Nexus for Christmas.
Thanks to all the devs here for making the Amaze truly amazing.

Damn your lucky your amaze screen didn't shatter. I dropped mine flat on its face WITH A D30 CASE on it and it still shattered

Good move, shouldve went with the S3, if you have a screen protecter on this thing its a tank, and it has crazy development.

Its also considered the "Super Nexus" because of its specs and how well AOSP/CM runs on it. (basically its what the nexus 4 should be... google should have went with samsung again)
BTW, heres a good wallpaper for the S3 when running CM10. Its the super nexus wallpaper.

I'm sadden that the Amaze has few Dev teams. Even after a year that I have had my Amaze, it's still plagued with OS issues. Most stable rom is Energy and it's full of minor but annoying bugs. Been just dealing with it.
I love how it's sturdy, which is why I chose it over the S2. I recently got a hold of a AtNt S3 and it has a cracked screen. I should be getting a screen tomorrow. If 4g works well, I will be switching phones. Tired of just "dealing with it" and I have been hoping for a opportunity to change phones. Unless of course CM10 fixes the BT audio routing problem.

I've had my amaze for 8 months now and now an running energy-stock look. I'm curious to what the bugs are that you encounter. My phone runs prefect. Could use more battery life, but it isn't bad for me. I always get a full day out of it.

I picked up a 3600mah battery, it messes with the camera, but with 20% battery usage for a heavy used day, I can get a week of heavy use out of it.
Its nice to be able to drive for 5 hours playing music and still be able to watch a movie or 2 when i want to chill before bed.
Plus SD Cards work in it, 64 gig class 10 cards!
if i have a choice i would keep Nexus4...thats the device which is made for developers what means so many diffrent ROMs etc
how many options do we have for Amaze? for Nexus ... go and look at their forums...:good:
