This has got to be the most stupid/ridiculous thing I have ever said.
Btw, I would never go out in public and hold a tablet to my face and talk too it. That already happens with bluetooth.

bigger is better. also an option to have 17" speakers setup via a portable dock... saw an 1980's boom box ghetto blaster and thought that would be cool if you could dock and tablet into it.,....

I would not get a phone bigger than 5.7-6". That's just too bulky to carry around.

i think that one day tv will go only internet based. and a 200" tablet would be for home use.

This thread is funny. Lol I like have phones but anything 6 inches is just too much.

10.1" tablet is too big. Personally my ideal situation would be to have a nexus 7 sized device that I could make phone calls from via bluetooth.

not bad idea. how about google glasses also making calls as well.

So, you want to be one of those people that looks like an idiot when taking pictures with a tablet? And how do you carry it around? You can't even come close to putting a 10" tablet in your pocket.

special cargo pants would hold the tablet or a fishing jacket would work also,,,,

Screen size is perfect for me. I wanted something in-between the size of my Gnexus and Ipad. While I wouldn't carry the phone in a belt holster, it fit fine in my pockets just fine when I went by Sprint over the weekend to play with it.

OP is obviously trolling. You're all either giving him the benefit of the doubt, or you're just blind.

I don't know what size I would end up feeling comfortable with in the future. But after saying that, I would agree that at this point 5.7-6" would be the largest size that I think I would be comfortable with for this type of device.

I had a Note II on TMobile for a grand total of one week ... I had to switch back to VZW because the reception was horrible, but I thought about my phone after the Note II - am I going to need to stay with a phone this size, or will I be happy if the Note line gets discontinued and I have to go back to something as ... small ... as the GS3.
First world problems. eh?

I won't be happy till my phone has a screen so big that it would make Mandingo call his mommy.

The international Galaxy Tab 7.7 has a GSM option with a mic and headset, as does the 10.1. They both sold decently well. There are people out there who only use a bluetooth headset to make calls, so what does the size of the device making them matter? Most days I could carry my 7.7 as my only device and use a secondary phone for times when I go to bars/concerts/events and need a more pocketable device.

Desk Stand?

Just wondering if anyone has bought a desk stand for their Transformer, any to recommend? I've searched and although I didn't see one specifically made for the Trans, there are some universal stands available.
I don't want the official keyboard attachment, thought I'd better mention that just in case.
There is one on amazon (US though). It's perfect and everyone keeps asking where I got it from. I fits any tablet really. There's a thread on the XOOM forum somewhere

I think I've seen that one in a search result, how do you find it for stability? I'd hate to have something that's easy to topple.
There's loads on Amazon but none particularly cheap. Cheapo option is to use a picture frame or plate stand. Sounds stupid but they do the job. It's not like you'll see them once the pad is on it. Either that or you could make one yourself if you're handy with tools, and don't burn down the house.

That thing is stable as a rock! I put it every where... I even keeps my TF upright when it's standing on the mattress at night! It has padded rubber feet and the same rubber at the part where the tablet rests so it cannot slip easily. Well worth the money and it's foldable....

The biggest issue with that stand (I have one) is that you can't really have the charger connected whilst it is sitting on it.

Why cant you have the transformer's port at the top, and plug it in that way? The screen will adjust fine. You need a usb 3.0 extension cable of course though.

+1 to the Infuse being much smaller. I used to think that was huge and my friends all thought it was a monstrosity. The Infuse feels so tiny and mega portable now though. They all think the Note is insane. Haha. They do all seem to like it though, especially the HD screen.
Now that I have my Note, there's no way I'm going back to a smaller screen. The only way I could go smaller is if it's still at least 5 inches and a 1080p screen, though 5.3" seems to be perfect for me. Any bigger, I can't each that top left corner with my thumb. Any smaller, I would be wishing for a larger screen. Hopefully Samsung continues and expands the Galaxy Note line. Seems they're promoting it pretty hard, so hopefully they get enough of a response to continue it long into the future.

I played with my iPod touch yesterday. Was actually surprised how easy it was to type on and use, despite how tiny it felt.
For me, there's no beating the Note on the phone front, though. Could never go back to an iPhone now.
I've been on a phablet for over a year now, Dell Streak now SG Note.
No way I could ever go back to a toy with a sub 5" screen
I love it! Went from Captivate to Infuse to G Note. The screen size is perfect for me. Excellent job Samsung...keep it up.
Agreed! The only thing we can do now is go bigger. I'm hoping for a 5.7" or 6.0" phone with a bluetooth headset. I felt like an ass the first week I was using my Note. Now it feels completely normally and anytime I grab anything smaller it just feels silly and unusable.

if u took away the top and bottom portions, you could probably get 5.7",or maybe 6" in the exact same size as the note (just thin bezzle)
I went straight from the motorola backflips 3.2 in. Screen to the note and I love it!
So true. I could not go back to another phone for anything. If they went to a Bezel free just think what we would have. I can't wait. 5.7 would fit into this frame no sweat. Just think this thing with quad core and 2 gig of ram and shazam!!!!!! I would love a little better camera. But I love my note.

I will be ok with a galaxy s3 with a 4.8
I went to BB today today and was checking out the Galaxy Nexus. Dam, even at 4.6 it felt tiny. Holding the Galaxy S2 was worse! I remember when i thought the S2 was big lol.
I really wish they would go with at least a 5" display for the Galaxy S3.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Couldn't agree more. Can't touch anything else. Went back to a skyrocket for a minute and couldn't stand it. I think it's the screen resolution for me mostly along with the size. I can't even touch a iPhone. It's a toy to me now.

Just a Simple Stand (I just bought one)

Not a dock, or a charger, just a cheap little stand for the desk or the table to prop the N3 up hands free.
Why can I find one? What are you guys using?
My favourite hobby always is to build them with whatever I find on my desk with sticky tape... (I know that's not much help).
There's a great thread on here (which I can't find at the moment, it would have been on the HD2 threads two years ago), about how a few small cuts to a credit card make a great portable stand.

Works without having to plug in an external power source. Tested on Galaxy S3, S4, Note 3.

when you squeeze the body of the device, the plastic gives a little bit. When you squeeze the real one, it does not give. This is probably because it actually has the proper components within, whereas the fake one seems to be missing something inside.

On top is the real one, and it looks like it has a more yellowish hue to the white compared to the fake one.
Here the real one is on the bottom, and you can tell the MHL label is a little lighter of a shade of grey. The metal male plug is also different, with the real one having a little smoother look to it and where the metal interlocks in the middle it seems to be in a different style in the fake one.
On the right is the fake one. It looks like the connector's edges are more defined and has two ridges along the bottom, whereas the fake one it seems there are none.
Let me know if you guys want more pics, I took plenty just in case.
Mine is genuine because its from Amazon directly. But the crackling noise when you shake it is a bit concerning

Just received mine. Seems a legit one
Only when I connect to power source. It keeps connects and disconnects in a loop.. Weird.. It works well without power source
Here are some pics

What kind of power source? Also, did that choke on the adapter come with it, or did you add that yourself?
Thanks,
--Matthew
If you mean by choke the cable no it was not included. The power source is included in the Mhl adapter

Got to play with it for 5 or 10 minutes

The guy at best buy let me play around with his working sample unit while he set up my preorder. That camera is amazing. I have wide hands and not long fingers....it was a perfect fit. I thought the N7 was good but the N8 just seemed to fit better. Can't reach everywhere on the phone one handed like I can on the N7 but that's ok.
I like writing it more than the N7.
It I mention the camera is amazing. 2x is just a game changer.
The black is a monolith.
I got the fingerprint friendly grey.
always bet on black
ill have the alcantara case on the beast so fingerprints matter not.
appreciate the johnny on the spot review boss... :good:
ok just checking but you said, "I thought the N7 was good but the N8 just seemed to fit better. Can't reach everywhere on the phone one handed like I can on the N7 but that's ok."
So it fits better than the N7 did in your hand, but you cannot reach everywhere on the screen like you could on the N7???? hmmmmm
I have no expectation of reaching everywhere on the 8.
It feels better....that's all I can say.
I still have my 7 and took it to Best buy to compare.
I can still handle it one handed, but like on the s8+, I sometimes maneuver it on my hand to reach parts of the screen. I don't mind that at all I'm used to it.

I love the way the note 8 feels in hand and I have the s8+ I always rest my phone on my pinky and my 3 other fingers are on the back of the phone.. so I can handle the big phones quite easy

It's not pinkish, is it? If so, I think it's my favorite color for this phone.

No it's because my lifeproof case on my s8+ was mirroring onto the back of the note 8

If anything, it's a bit lavender. Looks better in person than in pictures.

Definitely right about it looking better in person then on pictures!!
I just got to check one out at the Samsung booth at best buy. I have a Motorola Z Force, had the N7 and previous notes before that. I miss the pen. I was surprised to see that the width is pretty mich the same as my Z force. Its just about 3/8" taller when eyeballing them one ontop of the other. But the amount of screen real estate you gain is nuts. I like it, even more than he N7 and I was glad to read that I can get the bonus stuff wihout having to get some sort of phone plan/payment plan.
I watched the Destiny 2 trailer on a display model today and it was gorgeous. I didn't think much of the infinity screen before, but it's super sexy.

It is such a huge night and day difference with less bezels in terms of looks, but I usually run a case on my phones so it has never been important to me. But I do enjoy how the overall size of the device benefits from this. The taller slimmer profile will take a bit of getting used to though since my Moto Z feels almost square next to the N8. I guess I better order a good case to protect those nice curved panels.
diggin the positive banter on you experienced cats who are no stranger to the note series. this is my first ever samsung phone and its good to hear the long time users still loving it.
