from XDA app
Press THANKS if I helped

I've written all info in first post..also can anyone tell wat all things of kitchen are compatible with ace
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium

Did you mount /system and /data before flashing? How-to on UOT kitchen's site also says its better to wipe cache and dalvik-cache before flashing. But I say if you've applied some sort of partitioning on your SDCard.. Just clear dalvik-cache after flashing.

Yeah its important to wipe cache partition ...

well there's a lot of bootanimation.zip in xda that people uploaded (not in this arc section) that i wanna try, so that's why im asking if i can just use the .zip file replacing it with our bootanimation.zip in system/media..
i guess i can try the uot kitchen tht u mentioned, thanx but its limited to the one tht they provided, right? n which one shud i choose? the galaxy s GB rom?
Can be done thru root explorer also.
Just find a BA u like on google or whatever even youtube.
Dl it ,
move to system ,
Rename it to bootanimation.zip
set premissions (rw-r--r--)
Move to system/media
Overwrite current BA
Reboot
Enjoy
Be careful when changing system files as it can result in boot loop.which means re-flashing thru seus
Only try it if your confident or willing to reflash
Ps: backup orignal

You should be able to use any bootanimation but just ask which 1 u want and ask if it would work or try it yourself and see if it works

Is it really as easy as that? have you tried it? I just DL'd one off UOT kitchen and the screen res is different, therefore png sizes will be different and the desc.txt is a slightly different format too....

If ya wanna try heres one I just dled

Follow instructions as stated ,do premissions before moving file into system/media not after that where most people go wrong.
The first boot will take a bit longer than normal,so dont panic
This is android scribble with red flares

I just change my bootanimation with green burning android (don't know what it named exactly) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13933946&postcount=1 change it with root explorer like pushtostop said. just remember to change permission before you reboot and always make backup your original bootanimation.
It's worked, something laggy in first 5 sec animation but smooth afterward.
I dont know how you lost the status bar I have basically changed everything on mine what u can possibly so anyway and never had anything missing but some people might but uot is defo a good place to go
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App
so basically if using uot..
choose bootanimation available
upload framework-res.apk n systemui.apk
upload to kitchen
waiting for it to finish
when done, download it n save it to ur pc
extract it
change the extracted file in system/media to bootanimation.zip
put the zip file into the phone
change the permission
paste it in system/media
right?
n izzit normal the bootanimation.zip file can be as small as under 100kb?
Just double click on the uot folder what u downloaded then find bootanimation.zip or whatever its called and copy paste make sure permissions are the same aswell should be fine

Hi - you don't need systemui.apk for some things.. and you don't need framework-res.apk for boot animation - it's not linked to that...
you can just create a boot animation and then put it on your phone, and because it's not active when you move it across you don't need to drop it in the system directory first..
you can put it straight into the media folder, change the perms (rw-r--r--) then reboot.. and as pushtostop said.. it works.. it really does.. Ive got the CIA one now.. geek.. but cool!!
[EDIT - bit more info.. The file that you get out of UOT for this is layered..
open the ZIP and go into the SYSTEM folder..
Then go into the MEDIA folder.
now right click and COPY the SANIM.ZIP folder.
PASTE this outside of the UOT ZIP somewhere.
rename it to BOOTANIMATION.ZIP
move to SD card.
USE ROOT EXPLORER to copy the BOOTANIMATION.ZIP into the system/media folder.
Change permissions to rw-r--r--
reboot.
done.]
[EDIT 2 - Link to a crap quality video I took of my new bootscreen anime!!.. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28937429/VIDEO0020.3gp]
Yea I want sure if you have to but id rather do it anyway just incase anything happens it just covers my back for incase I bootloop then have to flash ftf again
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App
thanks guys, i juz did like wht iceman said, n now i got cool simple android words n its file is small
@im_iceman
Its best to move to system, then do premissions, then put in system media.not sure if it will cause probs wit BA but will with systemui and
framework-res .
its a good habit yo get into.
Just my exp ,glad it worked for u
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App
Hi..yes..you do have to do it in 2 stages for systemui and framework because they are active whilst you're using the phone.. But the BA is only active while booting so there's no conflict..
And advice for anyone getting a bootloop - you can re flash system image and retain user data.. There's a check box on flash tool on the right near the top when selecting which ftf to use..

[Q] HELP!

I been trying and looking for a long time to find a way to make the mopho statusbar transparent I've tried metamorph and ninjamorph but no luck tho..... anyone know of something or a tutorial on how this can be done? Ty
Your title should probably a little more than just "HELP!" I mean really are you on fire? Did you send Lassie to let us know you were trapped in a well? Are you an American POW who somehow managed to access to XDA and this is your only chance to request a rescue? Oh, no You just need to make your status bar transparent. Stand down SEAL team 6.
Maybe try UOT KITCHEN...there are a lot of options there.

looks great but im only rooted i think you have to have a rom for this?
Dont need a rom for this..
Save your framework-res.apk and systemui.apk to your computer and uot will make the changes to them in a zip file u can flash using bootstrap recovery. I am on stock rom so I know it works.

Why would you want to do that, you can just restore the backup.
Dont forget the backup holds lots of personal info on it, so you dont want to share it....
Just curious as to why you would want to do this?
The data portion contains sensitive info right??? Not the system.img isn't it
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I wanna make my own Rom and share it with ppl... I've added toggle panel to notification bar, changed animations in framework-res, changed icons in systemui, did some build.prop tweaks, some out-of-memory manager tweaks, took some apps from the arc s firmware, removed some preinstalled apps and added some apps to system partition itself (like browser replaced with opera, titanium backup included in system partition, applied adblocker...) and many other things.... I hope that qualifies me to call it my *own* ROM????

Oh ok,
You need to use sdk and pdk software to make your own roms, I am sure its much easier that way.
Just google them and download
PS, just themeing a custom rom doesnt make it your own, but developing from the stock rom in any way does, especially if it more than just the UI. Circular battery mod and other UI's are easily achieved in UOT, but changing OOM values and build.prop is different, as long as you know the benefits you are making
I've made changes to stock only. Not on anyone else's custom ROM. Yes did make some oom changing scripts. (umm.. Yep I guess I know what changes and what advantages. Lol) also removed some stock-ware added better alternatives like go sms n dialer in place of stock ones.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I have the android sdk. I'll get the pdk... But what after that?? How to make the zip file of the ROM?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Just pull (with adb or root explorer) everything you changed then make a flashable zip of that. No need to post a whole rom, just call it a mod or theme...
Btw I'm not even a proper firmware-tinkerer.. Far from being a dev or anything. I'm just a humble 12th grade student. Still pretty much in my teens.. Lol
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Ok that's a good idea now... Lemme see if I can pinpoint which files I need to pull and which I can do without.... But about the zip thing.... I never really understood the certificate thingy... That meta.inf and all... What is that about??? Basically how to create a flashable zip??
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Same here, I am not a dev, but I teach 12 grade!!!
As far as I know that can be done with apk manager, the update zips I use are generally borrowed from other zips, as I only mod things others have done for myself, or make them in UOT.
Try getting in touch with a dev called DooMLoRD
He is very good and friendly (Also from your neck of the woods) but he is very busy. He helped me out inmy noob days, and I am sure he will help you if he has the time.
Ya he did seem helpful.... I know him of course... Anyone who aspires to overclock their xperia knows him....lol... But ya he is busy usually.... And he's more of a deep dev...tinkering with kernels....not the one to make custom ROMs and all isn't it???
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
So what I can do is take the zip of someone's rom, keep the certificate in it. Remove all other files, add mine into it and voila I'm done???
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I've made a lot of modifications to my stock rom, and would like to share it.... so is system.img a valid way to share my *own* rom or mod ? (valid as in technically feasible? means ppl can d/l it n flash using recovery n use it?)
my main concerns are... will it boot on someone else's device? (i tried it myself... total wipe + clean stock instal, followed by flashing only my backed up system.img, *didn't flash data.img, only system* it took an eternity to boot first time but it ran)
second concern... system.img doesn't have any personal data right? logs, msgs etc are in data partition i guess??

Easiest way is to repair it with pc companion. Install pc companion on Sony Ericsson website, if you don't have it
Do you have root access (if you haven't done this yourself, you wont have it)?

i have done rooting and recovery too now what to do??
installted setcpu too
Go into xrecovery (keep hitting back button when u first turn phone on till it appears) then find fix permissions (I think it on advanced) volume controls scroll up/down, home (middle) button selects. Try that and let me know if it helps

I think you might try custom roms available on developer threat as most of them have the basics tweaks and optimisations. I personally recommend this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16477883 rom for it is easy to understand instruction for newbie. Cheers.

I really want to help you and will give you the steps to have a smooth phone like mine

I recommend you sync your contacts with Google sync, back up your stuff with titanium back up free which is on the market. (note after you've flashed the ROM which has a kernel built into the ROM you will need to install titanium back up again to restore all the stuff you backed up)
. It is a very fast and smooth ROM I am using ATM. Okay go into xrecovery by starting your phone up and when you see the Sony Ericsson logo, keep pressing the back button.
Now you're in x recovery Wipe Dalvik cache, Wipe cache partition and do full factory wipe. Then go to install custom zip.

04. Put some rom on Your SD Card (Im using Wolf ver 4.0.4s. Ive tested all roms here and like it the most i could give u some links)

Compiled APK Query

ok so basically i have got CM9 n i was just trying to decompile contacts.apk, change a few things n compile and basically when i flashed the zip file via bootmenu the phone icon disappeared. so i presumed i had done something wrong.. so i started over fresh again n tried just with the images, this time icon showed but kept Fc'ing. i was 100% sure that should have worked so i thought I'd test the file out itself so i decompiled and straight recompiled n it still Fc'ing. anyone know why this is??
I've done like systemUI n framework.res without problems, I've done alot of this so u can rule out basic suggestions. done wipe dalvik cache too, no luck there.
was done with CM9 01/08/2012 version.. not sure if contacts.apk has the same problem in the newest update or not..
