5/14 NOW CWM Flashable!! Added -AOKP/CB ICS/CM9/MIUI_V4) Fix Sprint Phantom Voicemail
Make a Nandroid Backup just in case, I'm not responsible if something messes up your phone.
FIX for AOKP, AOKPCB, ICS ,CM9 ,MIUI Sprint Phantom Vmail
ALL HAVE BEEN TESTED AND CONFIRMED WORKING BY ME ON LATEST VERSIONS OF THE ROMS AS OF 13 MAY
Instructions:
1. Go to 'Settings/Manage Apps' / Navigate to 'Phone' and press 'Clear data'.
2. Download attached -MoPhoPhantomVmailFix.zip for your CURRENT ROM.
(A) CM9_6.1-MoPhoPhantomVmailFix.zip for Jokersax's ICS/CM9
(B) MIUI_V4-MoPhoPhantomVmailFix.zip for Spleef/TH3BILL's MIUI V4 2.5.11
(C) AOKP_AOKPCB-MoPhoPhantomVmailFix.zip for Spleef's [AOKP Build 35] and [AOKPCB 20120513-0133] Rom Ports.
3. Make a NANDROID Backup your current ROM just in case.
4. In CWM (I used Jokers CWM-v3 for all 4 Roms) FLASH your downloaded Zip
(Zip clears Phone.apk's Dalvik Cache for you but you can also clear it manually)
5. In CWM, Go to 'Advanced' menu and 'Fix Permissions' and then 'Reboot System'.
6. Once booted up, open up Phone app, Navigate to its settings and in 'Voicemail Settings' CHANGE *86 to YOUR Mobile Number.
(STEP 7. Only for CM9) Uncheck 'Voicemail Notifications' checkbox to Disable, If not already Unchecked.
Then REBOOT your MoPho and enjoy
These Disable the persistent Ghost/Phantom Voicemail Notification & Icon that could only be removed by either clearing data in the phone app (and after every reboot), or the fix in which you can call Sprint to activate a dumb phone, leaving yourself a message and then clearing the voicemails, then reactivating your smartphone.
As you guys know, i search every devices sections, testing and trying out different mod's/apk's/zip's in hope that it would benefit us all, today i'd like to bring to you......Modified Phone.apk's which will get rid of the notification altogether, both the Icon and Notification in the pulldown menu.
*For those of you who have the Sprint VVM app installed or Use Google Voice for Vmail, this Mod wont mess up the Notifications for them.
**I CAN Confirm that Voice/Data/WIFI and Roaming work on Roms Mentioned above.
*** I DID NOT TEST TABLET-MODE FOR ANY OF THE ROMS WITH THESE MODIFIED PHONE.APK's SO PLEASE REPORT BACK.
--------------------------------------------
Big thanks to the Sprint Samsung Epic Touch 4G & Sprint Galaxy Nexus sections, been pulling apps from almost all the Roms there to test different stuff out that would benefit us MoPho guys too and got these.
Happy Modding

I'm having trouble too.
Side note- What widgets/theme are you using in your screen shots?

This worked fine for me except I don't like how it changed my incoming call screen. Now when receiving a call the answer button is partially hidden behind the home and back buttons. It is still usable but ultimately I'm trading one cosmetic flaw for another. I'm not sure which is more appealing.

I have a Droid Incredible flashed to a CDMA network here in Nigeria (Visafone). On Stock GB ROM there is a 'Clear Voicemail Notification' setting, under 'Settings > Calls', which I pretty much use since I have this problem. I had a Moto Q earlier and this problem carried over from that phone to the Droid Incredible. Now I am on CM9 ICS Unofficial ROM and the only way I could get rid of this annoying notification was from 'Settings > Manage Apps > Phone > Force Stop'. This is very cumbersome to say the least. Your mod fixed this for me... It works well. I have rebooted severally and still no notification. Thanks.

It worked for me. But like Sub2k1, it changed my incoming call screen and like he said, trading one flaw for another. I am just barely able to answer a call. Most of the slide button is placed off the screen. As of now I can deal with the phantom notification better than this. If there is a better fix, please let us know. On Joker's latest.

This app did solve my problem. The answer slider is covered in the default app, but you can install a skin anytime. A layout mismatch isn't as annoying as the frigging cassette icon and sound notification every 5 minutes!
I am using CM9 on an XPERIA PRO
In the country I am in, both carriers are ruthless. Their way or the highway. After four years of pleading, they haven't disabled my voicemail. Of course, they charge for every voicemail hit. At least I can forget about it now. Hit TY, moonzbabysh.

[Q] U8150 FusionIdeos 2.7.10 & messaging app issue

First I would like to appreciate the hard work Fusiondev has put into this custom built ROM & say thank you! Am loving it,so much better than stock.
I however have run into abit of an anomaly. The default messaging app seems to have persistence without the option of removing it. It also shares dialer app function of storing the simcard's pin no. thus if you attempt to kill it,it won't die but you'll instantly receive a notification requesting you to enter your pin code.
It would also have been nice if the edge/2G/3G connectivity notification wasn't tied to messaging notification sound settings, its a little odd when you have a voice notifying mp3 for messages then again you here it on edge/2G/3G connectivity notification. Can anyone confirm this issue coz I followed instructions to the letter when installing FusionIdeos 2.7.10. I used clockworkmod & didn't forget to wipe/factory reset before flashing. I also can't tell how many characters am typing in the messaging app.
Installing a third party messaging app like Go SMS Pro still fails to relieve the default messaging app of its persistence & causes message/notification duplication. Is there a fix for this issue?
Anyone pliz help! I re-installed FusionIdeos and all I get now is improved battery life, the prob still persists even after fresh download. I can't get into boatloader mode (something I later also discovered). It just displays a blue 2 @ the bottom right of the screen & I have to remove the battery to boot normally. Anyone help me.!
Have you tried uninstalling the default messenger app (using a system app uninstaller)?

Infact I'd love it if you could suggest a good app that does just that coz I have installed apps alone without games & all am left with is a measly 57MB. How would one untie the edge/2G/3G notification tone to the text messaging notification tone?

You could try this app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.danesh.system.app.remover&hl=en (always works for me). You could just try changing the message tone.

Let me see, where do I start. Alright that app means serious biz. I played around with it and it cost me my keyboard hence wasnt able to post here until now. As of now I have been through CynogenMod 7.2 found that it cant surf the net, has no list of APN list and now am back. When I used system app remover to take out mms.apk (messaging app) it went with the system keyboard. It was extremely persistent in giving a "force close" error right until I rebooted the phone. So I flashed CynogenMod 7.2, realized it cant surf then looked for an online pc and had to download a third party keyboard.
What effectively happened was my system now has alot of free ram instead of free space, its very fluid in performance especially with Go laucher Ex effects all enabled. I really wish there could be some FusionIdeos update separating all this ties within the system. I believe the reason why this ROM is so big is because of the language packs coz the CynogenMod 7.2 ROM left me with 142MB to play with but this one does only 67MB as of now. Is there anyway this language packs can be removed? I still cannot boot into bootloader mode
Bump, anyone?

Yes I am able to.
As for (power+red+vol.down), what happens is, the phone reboots then remains in a sort of an idling state where nothing is happening,I have been reading around and now it seems that is what they call bootloader mode,if that's it then yes. Probably its idle coz there isnt a zip to update to. Is that right? I also read in some forum that you can flash clockworkmod recovery using bootloader mode with a custom zip but only in Evo,havent found for u8150-D yet.
I believe I can get more freespace if I can remove the language packs that I dont need. Know how?
How can I remove the language packs that I dont need from this ROM?
Da#n!!
Bricked my phone again!
I may a noob going through puberty (brick-phone stage) trashed my recovery menu, trashed my rom and ram, but am not interested in building a dynasty of expensive brickhouses (deaded ZTE blades,U8800s,U8150s......)

Bump!
Considering the heading of this topic, I would say that my problem has been solved by simply removing the default messaging app, therefore this topic can be bagged and tagged. Link2SD also solved my space issues dramatically... even my launcher 10MB is auto linked 2 sd and works flawlessly!

How to Enable Native Visual Voicemail HTC One M8

Restore Native AT&T Visual Voicemail on any ARHD ROM for the HTC One M8 (only works with AT&T carrier)
S-Off is not required (S-Off is only required if you want to update your firmware to the latest version)
Phone must obviously be unlocked and rooted
I don't recommend using v9.1 ROM, the ElementX kernal will not be updated to support 4.4.3 thus sense 6.0 toolbox homescreen swipe commands and motion gestures will not work. I read that 4.4.4 will be out soon, so no one is really investing time in custom kernals to support sense-based ROMs for 4.4.3. You can still updated your firmware to the latest version and run the 8.1 ROM. I recommend searching for the "no red text" firmware version.
Keep in mind that your Voicemails won't download when you're connected to a Wifi Network. If anyone has a fix for this please post and PM me so I can update this thread.

If your phone is rooted with a custom ROM such as the Android Revolution HD by mike1986 and your visual voicemail is missing, corrupt or broken, I will teach you how to reinstall it! Note, this has only been tested on the AT&T variant of the HTC One M8.
If you're an advanced user you can use the Android SDK, Cygwin and Kitchen to modify the ROM and include the following APKs:
- Phone.apk (replacement rom, newer version)
- ATT_VVM3.apk (new rom)
- HtcContacts.apk (replacement rom, newer version)
- HtcDialer (replacement rom, newer version)
- Message (replacement rom, newer version)
There are many tutorials on this site that explain how to modify and repackage a ROM.
If you want to keep it simple here's the process.
Acquire the apps listed above. Visit my website to download the APKs, just Google Trick Master PC, or you can pull them from your Stock ROM under /system/apps and/or /system/priv-app
Drop the apps on your Internal or External SD Card
Use ES File Explorer to Mount the system directory with Read/Write Permissions
Use ES File Explorer to Install the APKs from your SD location
Use Titanium Back-up Pro (yes, you have to pay for it). Browse the list of applications and find the apps you installed, long press the app and select "Convert to system app", if you have the option to integrate into ROM select that as well.
Restart the phone and set-up your native visual voicemail functionality. This process restores full functionality with zero glitches.

Yes, that happened to me a few times at first, you have to follow the exact procedure above and you have to restart the phone. As long as your phone is the ATT variant this should work. I had to mess around with it for a while, but got it working flawlessly. Restart after installing the APKs, the use Titanium Back-up to elevate the apps to system level apps. Then restart again.
Yeah I've uninstalled the apps with titanium backup and tried the process multiple times on my ATT variant running Viper ROM to no avail.

I had the same issue. What I had to do was change the SKU to 7 and the Region to 1 in the ACC\default.xml file. This also enabled the VVM button in the phone app.
However, I now have a problem with retrieving voicemails when connected to a wireless network. If I turn off wireless, everything will work fine. When on wireless, it gives an error about mobile data not being available, but it is most definitely on. It's like the messages/vvm apps aren't being allowed to bypass the wifi to check for data.
In case it matters, I am on a stock international ROM (1.54.401.5), and I also could not get the phone.apk to install using the directions above, so I installed the applications using a flashable zip.

This works 100% on the Android Revolution HD Rom for the ATT variant. The ARHD ROM is the stock rom modified by mike1986. I'm not sure how the Viper ROM was developed ie from stock ROM or from KitKat baseline ROM.
Unless your married to Viper I would highly recommend checking out the ARHD ROM, you won't be disappointed. It's an incredible ROM.
Can confirm this works perfect on ARHD ROM by mike1986! Thanks!!! :good:

Interesting... just tried leaving a voicemail off wifi and voicemail notification went through. Turned on wifi and left a new voicemail and got no voicemail notification. Turned off wifi and refreshed voicemails and new voicemail notification showed up.
So, voicemail works with wifi off. When wifi is on, the voicemail app says there is no data and that it doesnt work over wifi.
On a positive note, transcribe to text works great!
I don't think it should be too hard to fix but then again, I am not a developer.
I have confirmed that everybody on AT&T, tmobile and sprint regardless of your phone type cannot download visual voicemails while on a wifi connection this problem is acknowledged and stated by AT&T, they even add the disclaimer alongside their visual voicemail stand alone app. Iphone users everywhere complain about this as well. Honestly, I never noticed the issue before, but of course who would ever really engage in extensive voicemail testing. Perhaps one day the carriers will solve this issue; although personally I believe it's an intentional move by the carriers to force their customers off WiFi and on to the carriers' very expensive data network. I mean we're talking about tens of millions of dollars per year in data charges just from users downloading voicemails over cellular data on a daily basis. No one in leadership at the major carriers would ever let that revenue slip away, not unless they had to address the issue to resolve competitive threats.
So in conclusion your visual voicemail is functioning perfectly as it should.

Let us know what you find out, but all the research I did would suggest otherwise. ATT's standalone application for visual voicemail even has the disclaimer in the app store that says it won't work on WiFi. If it works for you please post a copy of your default.xml file \system\customize\ACC\
Thanks.

It did work over WiFi on the stock AT&T ROM using the built-in HTC VVM app. The app appears to be able to use the cellular data connection just like the messages app does to receive sms even when on WiFi.
I have attached the stock AT&T ACC\default.xml, but I doubt that's where the solution lies. I have tried flashing in the APKs listed above, plus the ATT AAinfo.txt, the default.xml files from ACC, CID, and MNS. I also flashed in the market.xml from the permissions folder as well as the nfcee file from the etc folder. The wireless problem still persists for me even with all of those just thrown into the ROM.
Unfortunately, that is as far as I've been able to get with this project. If anyone else has an idea, I'm willing to give it a shot.
Thanks,
JTok
I'll try to wrap my head around this problem initially I did a comparison between the default XML file and the custom ROM default XML file. The variance in the file comparison was nominal, nothing that would affect voicemail download over wifi. I'm going to use the Android development kit to run debug while I launch the visual voicemail app on a wifi connection and monitor the logs for any potential errors. Still if there are any Android developers out there who might know what the problem is it would be great if you could share it with us

No, I have it installed but I have 2 phone apps in app drawer, you can't disable the phone app that comes with the phone.
Just tried it. Moto assist does not work using the Google dialer. So when I'm home, the phone no longer let's me answer the phone with voice activation. I use that more than I'd use the Google dialer features, thanks for posting the apk though.

I'm pretty sure you need more than just the dialer apk to get that functionality.
I was looking for a way to have that functionality as well, and after a little research I found out that the location search on the dialer is an exclusive feature for Nexus and Google Play devices :crying: . I had that on my Galaxy S4 GPE and I liked that feature too. Found a post on Android Police explaining on how to make it work on other devices, but a lot of bugs can happen.

I've updated to Android 5.0 out of the box when I got my phone few days ago. - This morning I've installed the 1.1 Dialer APK linked in this thread, however, something did not work, when I pull up the app info on the only icon in the drawer it tells me version 5.0-10.
However, if I go into Settings > Apps > (Downloaded Tab) I see Dialer 1.1 is installed, under (All) I still see Dialer, and version lists 5.0-10 - The 5.0-10 is the stock moto one for Android 5.0, and this one does not have the caller ID, reverse look-up.
I might try disabling the 5.0-10, but from what I understand, that messes with the phone in a big way?

I'm not sure what can happen if you disable the stock dialer app, maybe prevent you from making/receiving phone calls if you don't have another dialer app installed? That's just my guess though, never actually did it to check. Were you able to make the location feature work?

I was unable to get the Caller ID to work, the phone shows me that they are both installed ( Settings > Apps ) - however, the one that came with the stock/factory ROM is preventing the 1.1 version for loading/showing at all in the apps list, so short of disabling the stock one (which I understand is not something one should be doing), I can't even open/access the offloaded one (Dialer 1.1)
I might get brave and disable the stock dialer, see if the Dialer 1.1 surfaces in the apps list.

I think that no major issues should arise as long as you just freeze the app and not uninstall it with titanium backup, but again, that's just my wild guess haha. Anyway, leave us posted about your findings.

OK - Got it Working!!! - Not Really, it crashes.
Step #1 - Download/Install the APK from this post
(will need a file manager to browse the phone to where the APK was downloaded to)
Step #2 - Create shortcut for Google Dialer 1.1 that you just installed using QuickShortcutMaker
Detailed instructions are HERE - Start at Step #3 on that page.
(Stock Dialer should be the only one showing in app drawer, you need to make a shortcut for the Google Dialer 1.1)
Step #3 - Win!!!
Some Pictures as Proof in Puddin
Stock Moto X Lollipop 5.0 Dialer / Settings
Nexus Android 5.x Dialer (Dialer 1.1) / Settings / Results
Google Dialer 1.1 shortcut above Stock Dialer shortcut.
Since trying this app initially, I've rooted my phone, and I've tried to follow steps outlined in (http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-to/install-new-kitkat-4-4-3-dialer-your-htc-one-0155515/), specifically Step 2 - Where the app is installed in /system/priv-app/ folders - I am sad to report this does not work still on MotoX
As previous users suggested, there are probably those other services the Dialer depends on that need to be installed.
I'll update if I find a solution.
I don't know if it matters but I had a Nexus 6 before getting my Moto X. The Google Dialer was version 2.0. I didn't grab the APK before returning it but I'm sure it could be pulled from the factory image.
I was unable to make this work, root/non-root.
Got it working, here -http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/themes-apps/mod-google-dialer-messenger-pure-edition-t2982408

[Q] ZV8 (lollipop) - Google Messenger App not sending MMS

Google Messenger App will not send or receive MMS on Lollipop ZV8. It was working fine on ZV6. Every other texting app I tested works fine. All I could find online was deleting unused APNs, but there only appears to be one on this phone.
Has anyone managed to get it working?
Thanks in advance.
I had the same problem just re/uninstall it amd once uninstalled reboot the phone into recovery mode and wipe your cache partition(s). The reboot into your system anfd reinstall it.

Thanks for the input, but your process did not fix my issue.
I at least found some others online with other carriers that are having the same issue. I think we may have to wait for a messenger update.
Glad I wasn't the only one. I thought it was due to my Airave, then tested with the default messager app (G3) worked fine.
Seems to be an Auto-Select APN issue
This issue comes down to the APN and how the app automatically selects it. I found a bunch of threads where Nexus owners were having this same issue with their lollipop upgrade. The solution they used was deleting all unused APNs. I don't think our phone has this option.
I am currently using EvolveSMS since it has a Google Messenger Theme and you can manually select the APN.
Does anyone who is more familiar with setting APNs manually know a workaround for this?
Worked for me:
Stock LG (It is very ugly)
Textra
EvolveSMS (Go into MMS settings and select the Sprint APN manually)
Did not work:
Hangouts (Hit or miss)
Google Messenger
Google Hangouts has worked fine for me and yes, the stock messenger app is ugly.
Thats true, I can't wait until xposed becomes "official" and we can use xposed G3 again I will be themeing everything.

I think the problem is with the Google Messenger app itself.
But please post you APN settings here so I can have a look
Afaik, Sprint doesn't even set the APN via the OS, it's all in NV items. You mentioned you found evidence of people with other carriers facing this issue? Can you please link the thread? I'm also interested in what other carriers are having this problem.
So somehow I managed to get Google Messenger to send MMS messages.
I did a nandroid backup to include the modems.
Flashed ZV4/6 rpm tz partitions
Flashed Illusion ROM 6.5
Flashed nano gapps
I ran the Illusion ROM for the better part of a day and decided to go back to BarePop so I restored my backup and voila, it works. I'm not sure if it had something to do with flashing the zv4/6 rpm tz partitions or not, but it works. I originally flashed it to get GPS working on AOSP working which it did.
If you do think it is apn related follow this quick min guide by me:
Download shortcut master
Press the 3 dot menu button and click "search"
Then search for this "com.lge.SprintHiddenMenu.iot" it should be the first thing click on it
Then once in the app/menu click LTE settings>Apn settings
Then add new ones ect...

[ROM] Extreme Syndicate

Hello XDA!
Disclaimer:
I am not responsible for any damage or awesomeness stemming from you flashing this ROM to your device. I am not responsible if you do not read the thread in its entirety and you miss a call. With that being said, my ROMS tend to lean on the EXTREME side of things. This means a lot of what you are used to on an LG stock ROM is GONE. I am not responsible if you do not know how to "sideload" your own applications of whatever you want to add back or for your "data" used to download apps readily available on the Play Store. I am also not responsible nor will I address any issues or "bugs" that stem from utilizing the "Dirty Santa" rooting method such as static on reboot and/or vibrating on reboot etc. These are bugs that in time should be fixed and I will update the ROM accordingly but this is not a cause of the ROM itself so let's keep specific bugs to this ROM in this thread.
Goodies:
- Based on Stock Deodexed US996 Firmware (US Unlcoked Version, NOT US Cellular)
- Rooted
- Deodexed
- KCAL Support
_ HD Voice
- Working Hotspot
- Forced High Impedence MOD
- Assertive Display MOD
- More to Come!
Prerequisites:
- Must have TWRP
- ONLY TESTED ON VS995
- Download the latest Extreme Syndicate ROM (of course) to your Device
- Kernel of your choice, I recommend Konverged Kernel
Install Instructions:
1) Download ROM and Kernel to Device
2) Boot into TWRP Recovery
3) Do a standard wipe as you would when doing a "clean install" (data, cache, dalvik)
4) Flash ROM then Kernel
5) That's IT!

Bugs & Fixes
Extreme Syndicate v1.1 Bugs/Fixes:
- I would not call it a bug but I have no added busybox yet so use an installer from the Play Store once you load the ROM
- I have not decided what Kernel to use yet, so have a kernel ready to flash as per instructions in OP or you might have issues
- No other issues ATM.. I will also be uploading files to my Google Drive with all removed bloat so users can add back what they wish since this ROM is EXTREME!
Extreme Syndicate v1 Bugs/Fixes:
- Google Dialer FC's/Download a 3rd party dialer or side load LGContacts.apk until a fix is found or I replace the dialer in the next update.
- Hotspot Won't Connect/Delete or uninstall using TiBu the Verizon Mobile Hotspot apk and it will work fine. Will be removed on next update to avoid the extra step.
- File Transfer with PC not working/For some reason you need to connect a flash drive to the phone to enable MTP mode, then it will work with the PC. I need to figure this one out.
- Double Clock in status bar/I just need to edit the SystemUI to hide the original clock. For now just hide the 3minit clock if you don't want two and I will remove this issue in the next update.
- That's it for now!
Just a reminder, if you need to install an .apk without play store access/internet access, you can transfer an apk to your sdcard and install it on the phone by going into Downloads > Sdcard and installing it from there (for those that don't know fancy-shmancey adb stuffs)
i also recommend signing into google acct during setup to ensure you are able to update the keyboard if it starts acting up
You VZW bastards with your selection of roms.
Thank for the link will be flashing soon thanks brother.

When I had the issue of two clocks, I used the 3minit for the date in the alternate corner.
Side note: in the mods section is a flashable 3minit batt and clock mod for our device. Eliminates the original clock.

We all must bow to the T-Mobile guys though. They get all the love :'[ Already have 2 AOSP based ROM's :'[
@elliwigy thanks for the ROM man. I like how you are trying to put a stock google spin on the LG ROM. I hope you stay with it!

Unfortunately, I live in a rural area and Verizon is the only game in town. Verizon is nice when it comes to service. I live 30 minutes from the nearest city in the middle of the woods and get 4G and it's been ages since I've travelled anywhere and don't have a constant 4G signal. And I'm grandfathered in on their unlimited data which is true unlimited. I use on average over 300GB a month and they never throttle the speed

T-Mobile has always been at the top followed by AT&T, Sprint while VZW is usually at the bottom of the list
I'm not going to clutter up the thread anymore but Thanks @elliwigy. Even if it is for VZW all work on the LG V20 brings more interest to the phone which is good for all V20 users. me2151 is busting his ass for our sprint phones. I never expected root for any non T-Mobile phones so I am already a happy camper.
Good luck.:good:
The currently installed Google DIaler (Google Phone) doesn't work (crashes on opening), however, you can make and receive calls all day long:
Go to Contacts > Pick a contact you want to call and initiate a call from the contacts app.
Until you install a different phone app, you won't be able to dial, but you can make and receive calls.

Yep! I believe the Google Dialer actually uses a different app for the actual call, the dialer seems to be just a way to interface with the actual phone calling interface thing (or something like that).
That's why using the contacts app to initiate a call still works as well as actually receiving a call. I've tested it out myself, made a few phone calls yesterday and received one.
Happy to help
p.s. I pmed you about wifi calling not working, not sure if you read it
