There were early names when the codenamed HTC Jewel was announced a while back of the EVOx, which they could use for this one, though I think they'll probably just called it EVO One X or EVO X.

maybe it will be called the Evo-OneX ?

While the EVO is a name that has been good to sprint I think they should keep it the name HTC gave it. Since its a new phone n the other EVO phones haven't been the best or sold very well.

Sweet! Now if I can just have the patience to pass on the Nexus and wait till June.
So no external SD and no removable battery correct? Hmmm will take getting used to but I guess I could live with that.
eta: oh and no kickstand. That might be the most difficult transition.

so far its been no external sd or removable battery, which I would assume would be to prevent rooting. But I'm certain we'll be able to find a way to circumvent that, unless HTC has finally made a masterpiece of a phone that root is no longer necessary. /sarcasm

On the surface it appears to be a great phone.
Wonder how much internal memory it will have since there is no SD slot.
Also, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure phones with no SDCard are still able to be rooted.

Sure hope it has a SD slot as I will be needing that for viewing videos from my gopro on the spot. Plus I will be buying a 32 gb card and don't want that going to waste.

I love the looks of this phone, specs seem great, been eligeable for an upgrade since last June, Oh Boy!
But...
I can't imagine going to a phone with no removable battery and no memory expansion. How many power users are still using the original battery only or 8GB Micro SD card in their EVO?
Over the past (almost) 2 years don't know how many times I've swapped to a fresh battery when no outlet was available or had to pull the battery while messing around with ROMS. Locked up and can't pull the battery? What then? Is there a "reset button"?
And no way to expand memory? Remember when 8GB seemed huge and you didn't figure you'd ever run out of room on a phone? How much space does it take up to add a micro SD slot? In two years it's no stretch that 128GB micro SD cards will be available, 64GB cards are coming out now. Hey, with a great camera how many more pics would you be taking?
Oh, and NO KICKSTAND?
I'm looking forward to upgrading although my launch day EVO is running as good as ever with Classic (Thanks TommyT!), but man, those are just about deal-breakers!

Couldn't agree more. This is a huge advantage and I don't really understand why they would take that away.
Pretty sure the specs I saw did not include SD port though. Someone please prove me wrong.

i sure hope as well that they include an sd slot but by the looks of it, It might be a no go on the slot. If you got htc's site and look at the one x (att version) it doesn't mention SD. Also on the spec sheet it has 16gb of internal, more reason why there probably wont be a SD slot. Personally I think i could live with that, but like Mike Fitz said the removable battery might be more of an issue. No more pulling of the battery when phone locks up.

Just to comment on the above portion - your EVO has a hardware reset key sequence that allows you to reboot the device without pulling the battery. In some cases, you can even get into the bootloader.
Just press and hold both volume buttons and the power button simultaneously for about 4 seconds, and your device should reboot itself. If you're stuck in a bootloop, for example (the boot animation keeps looping), you may even be able to get into HBOOT by first doing the initial sequence, and then releasing all the buttons except for the Volume-Down. When the device reboots, it may bring you right to HBOOT (I say "may" because I've only been able to get that to work on ICS ROMs, for some reason ).
But I assume any new devices without a removable battery will have a similar key sequence. I personally do find that and the lack of removable storage limiting, though.
As far as the kickstand goes, even though I love it, and use it all the time, I can just get a case with one built in. It's not as if I ever take the case off my device .

I've railed against this constantly but the idea of having no expandable storage or removable battery does not seem to be causing the backlash I thought would happen; especially from the development community. This and the ability to not be tethered to a wall outlet all the time by having a fully charged battery in my pocket if this becomes the norm is going to revamp how I use my phone everyday.
IOS wanted a consistent experience with it's handsets hence they did not offer expandable storage because the processing time would change causing lags. I think Android decided it was tired of complaints about lagginess and decided "since people want to complain, we'll fix that. No external storage and you won't have lags". The truth is we who tinker and are power users are a vast minority. How many friends or family do you know who have X handset that do absolutely nothing to it except load apps, play games, etc. They use the phone like how it came out of the box. Heck I know people who have the original two year old software that came with the Evo! And you know what, they complain about their phone e.g. low memory, bad battery, it lags. But they are the majority so the handset makers are going to cater to them to have the best stock experience. I hope and pray that I'm wrong, but I see the OEMs getting more "iPhone" like in the future to merge the "Android" experience into a cohesive single experience that is going to put a crimp on what "we" like to do to our phones. But isn't that what everybody wants? No fragmentation, a single user experience?

^^^^^ Great points

In my OP the HD2 is ...

a POS $500 paperweight that no matter what ROM you put on it Windows 6.5 will F up.
After many phone exchanges and owning Android and Windows phones, Windows 6.5 is the windows 95 OS of phones, period. The HD2 seems like a great phone, but that Windows 6.5 renders it useless.
The promising ROM of Core Droid on the HD2 can’t take away the lag, freezes and unresponsive that Windows 6.5 is. It’s just a POS OS for phones, have you tried Windows Mobile 7? So much smoother, if it wasn’t for this OS, I would completely hate windows mobile.
I had hopes for running Android on the HD2 and again the promising ROM of EVO Droid made it possible, but only for a couple of days. Running off the SD card is not ideal for heavy use and the way I use to my phones, I test them to the limits. I hate having to reboot the system, every time the phone lags. So for now, you may be able to run Android, but it has its limits.
So that leaves me with a paperweight. The fact that I have to take the battery out to reboot the damn phone was my last straw. My HD2 is smashed : ) and now I am going to go get a loaner phone and see what other phone is available for me. I hope to never own another POS phone like the HD2. I once said that with the DASH, fooled twice.
This is just my OP, and if you disagree, well that your OP also. I’ve had it with the HD2; it doesn’t live up to its “hype”

Ahhh... I can see your problem... You're an idiot. There's a little yellow button back there too that precludes battery removal. It's called a "reset button" in the trade...
One can only assume that if you can't get something as simple as that right then all your other woes are of your own doing... I own an HD2 and manage a dozen of them - they all work very well with no complaints from my users.

I don't believe this community should be in the habit of mocking its members. FenderGuy was merely stating his opinion, albeit, in a Q&A forum, but none-the-less, the response wasn't appropriate. I too own an HD2 and find myself sympathizing with FenderGuy.
When I had the 2.10.531.1 Stock T-mobile rom, it took about 10 - 15 seconds for for the music tab to load my music. There were a thousand 'fixes' and none of them worked. I finally had to get a different program, disappointed in HTC. The music tab wasn't the only problem. My phone would reboot randomly. I have tried custom roms, but I don't recall that they improved my WM 6.5 experience (no offense to anyone making the roms, I likely did not put in enough effort to make them work for me better).
The newer 3.14.531.1 T-mobile rom is 'better.' The music tab works fine, but I've obtained new problems. The weather never updates in 'my location' (I know there are threads on this topic). Also, my phone reboot when I plug it into a computer via USB. Every time, without fail, the phone reboots when I plug it in. And I have no resolution to this (if anyone has any idea... please let me know, I cannot for the life of me find any forum threads on this).
I like android roms, but they still seem less responsive than the native WM 6.5 and the camcorder still doesn't work (but, I truly appreciate everyone's work on making android on the HD2 possible).
Last, though this should've been my first point. I too find that I have to reboot my phone often. I have a case on my phone, which I have to dismantle, then remove the case of the battery cover, and then pull out the battery. This is an annoyance. If anyone suggests that it is easier to press that little yellow button than to pull out the battery, you must either have your tools always accessible, or you have managed to create and attach a bionic finger that has a release mechanism with a 1/8th inch-pointed tool hidden inside that can actually fit and press the button, because my fingers cannot press that button without these tools.
Actually, even if you did have a tool handy... It's way easier to just remove the damn battery.

The peanut gallery has spoken
Let’s see the reset button can be either yellow or red right, and you have to actually get a pin or something to poke it to reset, so taking the battery out is just another way to reset the phone when the reset doesn’t work, after all the HD2 is perfect ?
I could care less if you manage your clients phones and I doubt they are so perfect as you claim, like I said it's my op the HD2 is a POS
I use to work for T-mobile and guess what the #1 phones that has complaints was always the Windows Mobile phones, even now when I went back to get a loaner the HD2 is still the #1 issue phone with customers

I've managed Palms, iPhones, Androids, Windows Mobile and Blackrubbish... Windows is, by far, the most reliable, configurable and sensible business solution. But I'm just the "peanut gallery"... You carry on in your little utopia...
There must be like a "driver license" for this phone
Some people are realy but seriously really dumb
There are many threads with an answer for almost all problems of the HD2!
Get lose of the STOCK ROM'S like Airborne Aircrew say's
And if u are installing new rom's read the installation guides first!! there are 10+ guides at your disposal
Now the chance of a problem is decreased with -99% believe me
If u getting android... read the installation guides first!!
Congrats!!!! if you have no problems you may obtain your HD2 driver license (create your own one)
How strange or stupid that ppl keep saying that Android builds are unreliable, with constant freezes and such...... I have NO problems running 5 different builds for days with no issues and no restarts... I do restart the phone once in a while but only to switch to different builds....See that's the beauty of this phone we can switch to many different roms, both Windows and Android. And to break a phone bc it froze shows being very immature. Instead should've found a reliable Rom there's Lots of them here. It never seizes to amaze me the ignorance of some people .......

My honest opinion
When i first got my hd2, i was super excited with it. I thought it was the best phone ever. I'd already worked with WM so i knew something about it. The HD2 was great, but after few days i was bored of it. I found nothing to do with WM, as there are almost no GOOD apps for it. Then, i came to XDA, and read about flashing custom roms. I was afraid of bricking my phone, but i flashed a custom rom anyways. After that, I flashed like 5+ custom roms on my HD2, and I looked at it and said: Now this is more like it. But i was missing something. WM, custom or stock rom, has almost no GOOD apps. So, i decided to try android on my HD2. I've used more than 10 android builds on my HD2, just for fun. After putting android on my Leo, i can honestly say I think it's the best, most versatile phone EVER. I currently use WM, Android and Ubuntu on my HD2. It's so much fun. Why would i want a phone that has everything there, when i can have my HD2, and get excited when a new custom rom is made, or a new Android build comes out for it. My Leo is more than my phone, it's my hobby.

You seem like a person that just needs to go buy a damn iPhone already. This phone is not about simplicity.

Razr can't hold 4G for more than a day and then drops 4g/all data.

I have been data droping for a long time and have been able to fix it. I think it could be doe to the lower right side of the phone "giving in" to much with not really trying. I don't know if I should try and wait this out MORE for an update, try for a Droid fighter on 4/12/12, try and swap it for a "new" phone now or Go for a SGS3 when it comes out and say by-be big BAD red.
I would really like a fix to this, becuase every one thinks it has to be a AT&T phone when they see it mess up and that happens a lot.

Edit2: They said I live in a good 4G area and this should not be happening, So they are sending me a refurb. I will report back after I get it.
Edit:3 I got the "new" one it's feals better build than my old one and it has only droped data one time and that was for only about 30sec. If it does any were near as bad as my 1st one, I will be making some calls. It seems to run 10-20F cooler, so thats good.
Edit4:I can't seem to get 1080p youtube videos to play right. I don't know how to put it, but it looks like a slide show. I updated the flash player my self and no change. I don't want to take this phone back due to it failing this one test. I just like what I am paying for thats all. I see it has a dead pix just like the old one, but I don't care about that. any help on this would be nice. thanks
Edit5: 1080P video fixed buy it's self, but the phone has droped data 2 times and fell back to 3g in the past two days. Still way better than what old phone did. Will be keaping an eye on this and here's the video of it were it had fallen back to 3G: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqetYdaiIYg&feature=channel
I know verizons 4G network is unstable and for them to call it the Most Reliable 4G network is full of it, but right now I am just glad It's more than usable. I will be testing both it and my S2 side by side for the next few days to make sure this phone work's good or at lest better than the first one.
Edit6: ok now I know this is full of it. I have lost data two times to day and had to reboot the phone just for it to fail me again. I will be uploading videos soon.
Edit7: I have no idea how to deal with this. I think I am being throttled
P.S were is my ICS update?
Try downloading Fresh Network.
I just droped data looking for that app and then It does not seem to help so I removed it. Thanks for trying

From what I was tolled I live in the best 4G network area and there have not been any "outages". I think it's a software/hardware clash bug of some type that has to do with the battery level.
You have run across it before, can you tell me more and if phone swap will fix or if not then what will.

I see that your tethering or mobile hotspot was active the whole time. Have you tried turning that off or uninstalling then reboot and see if it still happens? Have you also tried with a fresh install (as in not letting any apps download at all)? Just wondering if it could be an app causing the data issue.
I turned it off at some point in the video to see if that would help. I have rebooted the phone just about every day. I can't uninstall the stock tethering. I could reset the phone and not let ANY apps install, but I don't think any of the 3rd party apps are making it do this kind of thing.
I may try a reset some time, but I don't think it will fix it.
Thanks for the comment.
Edit: 3ooth post oh yea and I droped data yet again

Ok and what does that meen?
This should fix it:

If you have market-based battery saving widgets, try to disable all settings related to signal/data and see if you lose it again (after running the above app)
Thanks, but I have tryed that app 2 times and still the new videos happened. I wished so bad that it would fix it, but it did not. I don't have any battery saver apps installed, but I tryed it any way. It would take me a day or maybe two to find out for sure if any thing posted here fix's it or not.
P.S I wish I had a maxx for the battery life.
Edit: Would calling 611 help or do they all not know what a USB cable is and that you can tether from it?
The 4g is working now, but I can never tell what will set it off. ( before the updates USB tethering would make it drop data all the time, but now it's just as likely as loading a m-site on the phone.)

I showed the guy at a Verizon store this and he said that there "thotting" me.( He did not want to use that word, but thats what he ment.)

Or you could just stop being a data hog.

I have used 17GB so far on my AT&T phone and guess what. It never has done any of this. If you had home internet at 1.5mbs WHEN YOU ARE PAYING TW FOR 10. I bet you would use more data too. AT&T tell's you what the F they are doing to your phone or they fix it. Verizon does not tell crap. I will now be uploading more videos. I will not stop intill it's fixed or I drop them. They will not get away with this BS.
I have never herd of any one who talks on the phone all day to be a phone hog, when they are the ones PAYING FOR IT FOR THEMSELFS.
Any way, whats a "hog" 20GB THEY sell a 20GB plan. 10GB,5GB,4GB,2GB or is 1GB a HOG becuase 95% don't even use a 1GB.
I just what the phone fixed or tell me more about there data thotting, so that I know. AT&T users now have SOME idea about when this MAY happen. I don't, know the when/if/WHY they "thottle".

Everyone throttles data regardless if they tell you or not. Data throttling is your carrier controlling the speed at which data transfers between your phone, servers. Most carriers throttle only the top 5% of their customers. Some probably throttle more.
Sent from my AXI0M ICS RAZR using tapatalk.
Not only do they "throttle", but they cut you off. The last ISP that did that to me was AOL. And guess what be-by they went. I am ok with the "throtting" for the most part, but losing data this much is sub par to say the lest.
P.S So you think losing data connetion about every Day is ok. If thats VZW standerd's then:
1) They should be SUED BIG time for all the crap thay put on tv.
2) I am so moving back to AT&T %1000.
3) Upload ALL MY videos after going back to AT&T.
Can't sue them, it's in your contract.

I will be reporting them for Bait-and-switch Fraud if this does not get fixed.
I guessing you work for verizon as a sales rep right? I bet if you tryed a AT&T phone or a sprint one for that matter you would see the truth.
As soon as I buy a new cam, I will do vs videos and that will do it in for them.

4 dead rezound's, offered a new divice

I have gone through 4 dead Rezound's. The first one i bought was purchased late december, this was a XA model. About 2 weeks ago, it started to act up pretty bad. I called verizon and they sent me a certified like new device, this one was an A model. This one had the same exact issues my first one was having. I called back verizon and they sent me another rezound, A "B" model. This one was great, my battery life was fantastic, i had about 3.5 hours of screen time on the normal 3.7v battery, then i went to make a phone call and noticed that the proximity sensor was dead. Called up verizon and they sent me another one. This one is a "A" model. Well, this one is the worst one of them all. The batter hit about 140 degrees and ate about 35% of the battery doing the initial set up. I literally have to keep the internet turned off to be able to make it through the day.
Well, verizon gave up on trying to replace the rezound and they offered me a comparible device. The offered me a droid charge. At that point, i asked to speak with the manager. While i was waiting to get connected, i took a drive to the local Verizon store. I was talking to the manager when i walked into the verizon store. Handed the Tech support person the rezound and the phone i was talking to the manager on. After a few minutes of the tech support guy messing with the phone and explaining the problems to the manager i had on my other phone, i was offered a Galaxy Nexus.
I just needed to vent, and see if anyone else had the same issues as i did.
Nope.....mine has been perfect...great battery life...with an extended battery.

Be interested in hearing if you have any connectivity issues with the Nexus. My wife was handed a brand new one (Nexus) on Thursday, as her company phone. I couldn't even download tiny apps and widgets to it over the weekend, because it would randomly lose signal completely, all the while my Rezound had a strong 4G connection.
I was having major issues with my fiance's Droid Bionic and I was offered a Razr, Rezound or Galaxy Nexus as a replacement. I took a Rezound.

The first 3 devices had no connection issues, this last one does indeed have connection issues.

Initially, i was on ICS. when all the problems started, i went back on S-On/ stock GB and still had the same issues. With this last phone, i kept it on GB. I didnt even try to change anything at all.
Dammit i specfically asked for a nexus just to see what they would say a couple weeks ago when i had to return my Rezound, but they said no "its a premium device" they said.
I'd suggest not taking the nexus, if you don't have signal issues you will get the USB port problem
Wher it thinks it's charging when it's not, the phone overheats like crazy and the screen turns on and off erratically
I'm never buying a Samsung phone again

I understand all the issues that the Galaxy Nexus has, and i appreciate your input. I am just at the point that i want the phone to work. This is my 4th rezound, and i have had nothing but issues with it. I am really not keen on the Galaxy Nexus, but am willing to take it as long as it works.
you know what? i disagree. try the nexus. Seriously. Just try it for a week. what the worst? you return it for a rezound or you keep it and your happy. see, if i was in your shoes, id try it out because i am a crack flasher

I honestly didn't want or ask for a nexus, but at this point, i am willing to take it. I just want my device to work. I don't know how its possible that 4 out of 4 devices where defects. Its almost as if HTC's quality control went down the toilet.
I love(d) HTC until recently. My Droid Incredible was amazing, but the rezound is a very poorly built device.
Take the Nexus if you want any long living development or lifespan.

Bad lag when coming off the net

As title, everything else is fine but when coming off the net and going to straight to texing, contacts or calls, there's bad lag, I've turned animation off also disabled s voice and stopped quite a few apps running in the background, but still there. For such a so called state of the art quick phone, this carry on badly Let's it down

That's because of 1gb ram
The launcher redraws making the phone unusable for a short period of time .
Bad architecture.
I thought that would be good, obviously it's not......I know the external ram/memory's better but it's the internal one that counts when operating.....so that's it then, I'm stuck unless I change phones

I just tested you scenario on my phone running stock rooted rom ELLA guess it depends on what you mean by a bad lag.
Tried from stock browser to messaging and stock browser to contacts and its almost instant just as long as it take to tap the home button to close the browser and tap the icon to open messaging or contacts, can't actually time.
Tried it from a 3rd party browser the same way and the same results basically tap home to close and tap icon to open app for contacts or messaging.
I have not disabled animations or anything like that, but just wondered if you have anything like virus scanners or app managers running on your phone as they may casue delays.
Nope no virus scanners ect ect running, and anything I found running I didnt need/want (and it was quite a few) I turned off
When I say in real time, it's about 3-5 seconds, that's going back to the home screen coming from the net, it doesnt matter if I press soft key back button or the hard key in the middle, it's bad either way
These phones are expensive enough

Just had a look to see how many processes are running in the application manager and there are 17, it isn't something that has bothered me so I have not stopped anything it just does what it does. I can say the process from pressing the home button to close either the stock browser or third party browser is almost instant at any time, its just press then the app is closed, it isn't something I can time but would guess at about half a second, it realy is just press and its closed.
As I mentioned I am running the stock rooted ELLA non branded UK rom and I don't have any lag anywhere, I know this doesn't help you solve the problem of the lag but if you are on the same rom maybe do a foctory reset, clear the cache and dalvik in recovery then set up the phone again.it will be a littile slow for the first day but after that it should run properly, without lag.
Don;t forget to backup contacts etc if you do decide to do this, it may be worth a try.
How do I tell if I'm on this ella
It's either try that or get a diffirent make......this lag's really pissing me off, it's doing it all the time

1GB RAM combined with poor ram management isn't exactly a good combo.

LTE means Long-term evolution and implies the use of 4G networking. A lot higher speeds than HSPA+.
I didnt realise it's the Note 2....it's even bigger than the S3, and I'm just about managing with one with this, It'd be 2 hands with the other one
Is there anyway the S3's ram can be doubled or no

Yes, kind of. It's called "S3 LTE" and is a different phone from the normal S3. The S3 LTE has the model number i9305 and has similar hardware to the i9300. What differs though is 2GB's of ram and an LTE capable modem chip.
Ok, but it's a physically bigger phone, and like I say, I'm just managing the size of the S3 with 1 hand, I'd be back to using 2 with the other

Successor to HTC ONE in February 2014?

HTC is close to launching the successor flagship model to the HTC One. HTC has not revealed the launch date. Nokia has adduced evidence which suggests that the launch date is in the first quarter of 2014 and possibly as early as February 2014. HTC has not contradicted this.

SD card or bust
I'm really hoping they come to their senses with that. (no pun intended) The one was the first upgrade I've skipped thanks to lack of a sd card, and while the evo lte is still a solid device I'm sure not going to wait another year for a new evo.

This looks like a very promising upgrade for me. But I really am not a fan of phones without SD cards these days...
SD cards are old hat. Don't need them. they are slower and have more issues then on board storage. Just make the new devices with 32gigs minimum of on board storage and all is well.
Nothing more irritating then SDcard 0 and SDcard 1. How many times has this driven good Dev's batty? Ask the sense 5 rom porters.
Not too mention the only reason the EVO LTE doesn't already have a multirom port is because the sd card issue. Years ago I would have told you I needed an SD card slot. Truth is I buy an sd card and throw it in and forget about it. Hvent removed it since the EVO lTE was new and it might have well just been on board storage. I have a Nexus 7 and love the fact that it doesn't have an SD card confusing everything. Love not having to remember which drive the rom is on when flashing in recovery. "now lets see...did that download go to sd card0 "downloads" folder or sd card 1 "downloads" folder?" Yeah enough of that trash!
SD cards are for OG nerds, you fill up a 32 gig phone and I say go buy a real video camera there Spielberg.

That's just it, you put it in and forget it. And in the process, you buy 64GB of storage for $40, instead of $300 (or, not at any price, for most phones). I use pretty much all of my storage on videos and other stuff. That doesn't need to be fast.

Still, I'd love to see them keep it looking pretty damn close to the One. One is the sexiest phone I've ever seen, but I had to skip it due to no upgrade, so anything else made won't look as goof, unless nearly identical.

I could fill up a 64 gig card with music alone. I don't find it confusing because I don't use the onboard drive for anything.

Some people like to have most of their music with them (me included), and NOT stream from a cloud with ok reception and eat up battery life. Maybe a 128 gb phone would be acceptable, 16 and 32 are not enough, and haven't been for yrs. Better graphical games are bigger nowadays as well. And I have tons of games, and all emulators on mine. Seriously, stop bashing on people who like options. U want to be ruled by Nazis, than get an iPhone! Sorry, but that's my 2 cents
