Hey does anyone else get spam popping up on there Note. How do you stop them they are annoying. It say's I've one an ipad yea right.

it's called airpush. one of your apps is the culprit. download AirPush Detector (link below) to tell you what app is doing it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsImNvbS5icm9zbWlrZS5haXJwdXNoZGV0ZWN0b3IiXQ..

I had it a while ago, it was coming from a live wallpaper i downloaded. I noticed it in the "running services" menu. I just uninstalled it, now it's gone!

It really infuriates me that today's phones are becoming the target of malware / spyware as bad as PC's. Before long we will be seeing fake anti virus alerts and everything else now common on desktops & laptops. If I were able to develop software, the last thing I would do is put crap like that in my software for a few cents revenue. /ENDRANT

Technically, if anything, it's akin to adware. But technically it's legit. I am all for in app ads, but to spam me with crap when I'm not even using the app is too much. Adding to that, there are even more ads in the game. I recommend that before uninstalling that you rate the app 1 star and leave a short review stating this app uses airpush to put garbage in your notification bar.

Thanks for that idea, I'm going to start doing that, I rate apps occasionally.

Thanks, had this popping up with a green plus sign in my status bar. Removing "Android System Tools" the ads have seemed to stop.

I had this problem and asked here as well.
I found out it happens when I run in combo; Adfree and then run "Bloat Freezer Free"

If you are talking about the original Bloat Freezer by Trey Holland, then you are being duped, FYI.
Bloat Freezer has data forwarding to ad sites built into its framework. That's why it was yanked from Google Market. There is an imitator app with the same name now on Play, but look at the comments and you'll see that Trey is still pushing his apps.
Here is an XDA thread where I show this to be true, backed by other users.
Here is androidunderground article attesting the same thing
Edit: And I just now saw that you specified "Bloat Freezer Free" which is indeed the offending app. Get rid of it ASAP and find another way to freeze. Titanium Backup does it (although not as well, last I checked. That is what makes it so irritating. The app was well engineered and didn't need the underhanded theft to justify its existence).

Its not samsung apps lol
those are just to set up your email/on line accounts
the ones with the star and "youve just won.." are apps from the market
or if you downloaded a "paid app" for free it could of been modified to push air ads

Ok so all the ads i see pop up are samsung. Ha. You have no idea what u are talking about. The very first day i got the phone all stock apps were installed and i got the ads that night. When i uninstalled samsung apps and featured app it stopped and i havent gotten any. A few weeks later i installed them and what do u know....i got the ads. Little green plus sign and orange and red star. I know my phone and how to use it so idk where u get off saying i dont know what im talking about.

Then to help the rest of the community out, why not run Addons Detector and let us know which Samsung app is giving the airpush ads? Seems nobody else has mentioned it that I know of except you. That would also settle the argument. A screenshot would say it all.

How am i supposed to do that. I have the airpush detector but it has no apps in it. Doesnt register anything. Had one the other day but say what the source was. Was getting them 4 to 5 times a week when the samsung and featured app was installed. Took it off and havent had anything. You dont have to believe me and u sure as hell dont need to run your mouth thinking you know everything. I was voicing my experiance.

Sounds like some quality spyware protection if it doesn't even tell you what's infected.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
Doesn't tell you? That doesn't sound like good protection to me! Oh wait, maybe you have to get the paid version.....
So far, every mobile protection mechanism I've seen has been snake oil.
None of the snake oil protected against the rash of Market malware that briefly sprung up, and also - any app that truly is looking for spyware will just go off constantly on nearly any phone sold in the United States. Damn carriers...
The fact that it claims it has found spyware but won't give any details should be a sign that most likely, Lookout is itself the scam/malware. Just like the fake "antispyware" malware that's always going around on PCs.
I also use Lookout (have for four phones) and it hasn't alerted on anything on my SGS2. Running absolutely stock and loving it! My original Cappy had to have custom everything to make me happy. Now, I'm just happy!

Cracked App Help

Hi All,
I'm not looking for cracked apps.
I have downloaded BlackMart and installed a cracked app, however it never gets updated, and i would like to buy it now. When i go to market it says its paid and just the install button is there. I tried to clear market data/cache, tried to clear the services data did a clear data/devlik cache after this, rebooted and it still says paid. I also removed my account from the accounts database restarted and setup the Google account again. go to market and its still showing it as i paid for it.
anyone have any suggestions.
Try creating a new Google account and attach it to the market

Use titanium back up to removed your cracked version. Then it should show up as not installed then buy.

this did not work. I tried to force attach to market, then wipe data and uninstall.
restarted and checked market, still said purchased.
I then tried to remove from market, wipe data, and restart and nothing!
I also have that issue where your market apps don't show up under "my apps" do you think that this part of the issue?
because when i login to market on the PC and go to my apps, I see apps on there that say they are installed, and they really arnt on my phone any more.
Suggestions?
You cannot simply uninstall because somehow the market thinks you purchased it as it attached itself to your google account, correct?
I would do as suggested and just use a different google account to purchase it. Of course you will then have problems updating it when you switch to the google account that syncs all your other data.
Maybe email the dev and explain you screwed up and wanna pay them $ if they know how to fix it?

Im having the same problem.. want buy swiftkey but can't get the option to buy in market... it say that i already purchase it.
Same issue
Hi,
I am having the same issue.
I have tried the cracked versions of the apps and now I genuinely want to buy them but I cannot.
I'd never feel comfortable using a cracked app on my phone. I don't know if anything malicious can be done to them (cracked apps) that might harm my device, but the prices on most apps are so low, I'd rather not risk it.
Besides, after having been a member here for a while and reading the work that goes into development, it just doesn't seem right to steal the work.
My take, spend the 2-5 bucks, reward the dev effort, have the security of knowing your app is genuine.

Ill have to disagree. I have tried free apps and they were so bad I would so kick myself if I had paid for it. There should be a requirement that there has to be a free app and a paid. No paid only apps should be be allowed. Free with dumbed down features until you buy a key is the way to go.

No solution, I am thinking it has to do with my market being broken, (I cant see my apps) however if you do not have this issue then there goes my theory
So I sbf'd today and went to newest 2.3.5 leak and installed eclipse! Living it. And I got my apps back!!! I did not have them earlier today so I really don't know how they came back but I'm still having the issue with the cracked app. :-(

I solved the problem of empty list uninstaling the blackmart... but that dont have any relation with not being able to buy some apps
If you use a root explorer/file manager and go into system/apps you should be able to delete the apk file from there at the source. If that doesn't work its got to be a market issue. Good luck
I had same problem, and got it to work downgrading market version
Like some guy sugested me in this topic: forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?p=936431#p936431
Here is a thought: pay for your apps? How much was this 'cracked' app you installed? 99 cents? 5 dollars? If you cannot afford that, then cancel your cell contract and save some money because you obviously need it.
Every app has a refund period after purchase, and almost all apps have a free version you can try out.
Even if you get stuck with an app you don't like, you spent what, a dollar? A few dollars? Uninstall it and wait for improvements, you already own the app. Cracked apps and warez are for pathetic losers who wanna be cool or are not man enough to pay for what they want. Support your devs.
I can't believe this thread is even here.

SPYWARE, are you safe?

So I think someone installed spyware on my phone. Is there anyway I can get rid of it, prevent it, and blank the persons blank for doing? The software has to leave a trail of some kind, doesn't it? Don't laugh, it's pretty easy to get on your phone from what I have read, and they can get a lot of info from your phone, listen to your calls, location updates, read your texts and emails, no good or cool.
It'd help if you say what app it is it what evidence there is spyware on your phone

If I am being spied on, how would I know what app it is? Proof? People know things they shouldn't, I'm not going into details, trust me. I believe they listen to the people I speak with thru my phone and one other persons phone close to me. Information these other people always seem to know about us when they shouldn't know. Phone gets warm for no reason, weird numbers, noises and beeps during calls, sometimes we each hear other people talking during our calls. My girl and I both have DNA's, it also happened when we had RAZRs and Fascinates. Her phones, the battery always dies a lot faster than my phones always did. My phone is 90% of the time on wifi, hers not, and her data is always high, she doesn't use her data at all, other than a few emails here and there.

I know you guys think I'm nuts, but look up cellphone spyware. I wish I could say who is doing it, but that is sensitive info. And it isn't necessarily bad things they know. Just when we go over there they always bring up stuff my girl and I just talked about. When are phone are on us they never ever call. If we both leave our phones at home for a few hours, like when we take the bike out, all the sudden they call constantly. There's tons more. I just want to know how to remove it and prevent it.
It's there, it's real, and all too easy these days to spy on someone using there cell. I've read it can reinstall it self after you factory reset your phone and it is virtually undetectable. Every time we buy new phones the person I speak of sends a text with a pic, after that we never get texted by them. Or after an update (OTA) or otherwise. I was just hoping I could get some real sound advice being this is XDA.
Check it out, I was thinking about doing it to the suspected persons

You still need to install it on the phone. You can't push it on the phone without you knowing. Like it says on the website you linked to, it's either a link you need to click on, a qr code, or copy the install file from a computer via usb.
Either way, just do a factory reset.

Phone spying on me?

One thing I have noticed is that my phone seems to be spying on my activities.
My phone knows where I work and when I work and get off. It tells me my commute time and etc. One time it told me when/where my girlfriend works when I was taking her on the regular. I checked National games for the sake of metro and its the phone has started to give me MLB game times and scores. I had a time when my phone gave me an alert to attend a cookout from my car insurance company. It had emailed me this weeks in advanced. I also get advertisements for games I have looked at that pop up.
Is the Android/Google taking it too far by monitoring your activities?

I don't really get what the problem is. It isn't like it's harming you, if anything, it is making your life easier.
Google goes through tons of security and they've even said that the only thing that sees the information is their algorithms. I mean, when's the last time you've heard about Google being hacked?
But like WolfePack said, you can always disable it.

aside from google now if you're getting pop up advertisements for games, or notifications that advertise things, it's because you have a ****ty adware app that you need to block or uninstall.

Birds eye view, turn by turn navigation gone?

As many of you may already have heard, the new Google Maps update integrates the blue triangle navigation app into Google maps. These seems fine, until you realize whatever navigation they are using is not the same as before. It isn't birds eye view anymore. It's come crap apple like not turn by turn thing. No longer any options for avoiding highways and tollway, no more customization, and I can't find the so called multi route thing they supposedly added. Google navigation was practically flawless, why did they kill it off? Somebody please tell me

I've been using Scout for months now. You can choose different routes and the map rotates when you make turns.
Ditto for me, Scout is pretty nice

Thanks you for your suggestions, but it's irrelevant to my actual question. Just want more inside info on why Google destroyed the best app they have ever made

Yeah, but I don't think anyone actually knows why. To get people to use Scout? lol
It's freaking weird... All tech websites talk about is how wonderful the new updates are. What updates? The navigation app has DECREASED functionality, how come nobody is reporting on this?

My guess is that they are preparing to release a paid navigation app that has all of the bells and whistles of the previous version. There is no other plausible reason for this.

My mohter is technologically challenged and she is very upset about this. You know how long it took her to learn Google Nav? LONG! Both her and my stepdad where like "where is the blue triangle thingie" and I was like what do you mean, and oh surprise it was gone. They are the ones who brought to my attention as I have not been using GPS lately.

Scout is a good one, I prefer Waze over Google nav anyways.. Waze is a social navigation which gives you updated information on traffic conditions by monitoring other users. And you get turn by turn, along with warnings about traffic hazards (including police and speed traps)
Is there for me. .. went into maps typed address clicked the car on next page triangle was there.

A lot of the functionality is still there, including the bird's eye view...it's just hidden 4 or 5 steps deep. The big problem is that it's not at all intuitive like the separate Navigation app was. So tech challenged folks can easily get sidetracked by something as simple as getting it to start navigating. It's kind of like when Microsoft decided to start updating MS Office. They tried so hard to make it more "MAC" like that none of the controls made any sense, not just in the naming of the tool or the icons, but also where they were located. Office 2003 to Office 2007 was just stupid. This is what Google did with their navigation app, trying to make it more iphone like.
So what's next? How about a separate paid app that makes navigation simple to use? That could be the direction that they are going. Either that, or they just hired the wrong designers.... probably ex Apple employees

Sprint did it so they can charge new customers more data fees.

This navigation thing happened to all carriers. You really think Sprint really had any say in it? I enjoy vilifying Sprint as much as the next guy, but in this case I think it was all Google.
