Rezound or One X? - HTC Rezound

I Really want to get a new HTC phone so i could get rid of my blackberry. I used to have a touchpro 2 and loved it!
so ive been researching both the rezound and one X but i can't come to a conclusion of which one to get... just looking for some opinions.
Thanks

One x I have the rezound and I love it but it wont get sense 4 and the one x has better specs

Are you in the US? If so, you're saddled to AT&T and we all know AT&T is a Rezounding failure. Verizon isn't picking up a "One" phone that we know of ... so unless Sense 4.0 is a deal breaker...Rezound all the way

We already haz sense4 thanks to newts OnE XxX rom. Also, I am not ready to turn in my microSD card or removable battery. Rezound kicks butt and for on $49 everyone should get one or ten.

Well i live in Canada and I should beable to buy the phone unlocked correct?

It won't get Sense 4.0 officially, but developers are already working on Sense 4.0 with ICS 4.0.3 and it's a day or two from being released as a daily driver.
Even then the One X is a quad-core phone, there's no reason not to get it.
Although I don't like the white.

This is the reason the rezound wins. Even with a tegra 3 it doesn't sway me to get the one x (Also because they haven't announced a flavor for Verizon)

Honestly, do you really think you'll notice the difference between the S3 and S4 in daily use(if you're getting it American)? I'd rather have a 4.3 inch screen with 720p, than the gigantic 4.7, its nicer, and plus we have removable battery and sdcard space, a huge plus. The Rezound can run sense 4 perfectly fine, HTC just wants the one series to be their main money makers.

That could be a problem. I don't think you'll have much luck using the rexound up there. Its not a global phone and even though it has GSM radios, people are having a hard time with data and SMS outside of Verizon. I'd get the one x.

I don't care what a new phone does if you can't take the battery out.
Those are two really good reasons that nobody wants a nexus.

Performance wise, it won't be the deal breaker, since the dual core pretty much handles everything smoothly unless google optimize the next generation os with quad-core. Bigger engine doesn't always run faster and more efficient , especially in this high gas price age.

The nexus has a removable battery.
I don't mind the whole not.having an sd card thing. I'll be honest, it didn't bother me one bit. It takes five minutes to copy all the files over to your computer, and with the WiFi file transfer apps, its even shorter.
I definitely wouldn't base my decision of which phone to buy on whether there is a removable ad card. Unless someone can explain some great features that I simply haven't found yet.
With that said, the rezound is an awesome phone while amazing hardware. I absolutely love it

If you are on GSM I would do ONE X all the way.

If I were buying a new phone I'd probably buy a Lumia 900. But since there will probably never be a VZW version, I guess I'll stick with the Rezound!

Even if Google optimizes the OS for quad cores, it'll only help for the actual Android system itself, not any of the apps you use, half the apps in the Play Store only use 1 core anyway and won't probably ever change that since it's not needed. (Facebook for example, Pandora, etc)
The S4 is a beast processor, best available, Tegra 3 is good for pure power but probably nothing else, I'd hold off on it honestly if you're rocking anything in the past few months.
Now if the One S came to Verizon with a S4 in it, that'd be a better debate.

HTC Rezound over Sammy Nexus??????

I don't know, for some reason I'm feeling like the Rezound might be the best new Verizon phone. Of course this is completely dependent upon Devs hooking up the Rezound with ICS and the latest and greatest. I think they will tho. And I'm "noob" status when it comes to dev knowledge and modding, but it seems the HTC may surprise people VS sammy phone
Now I admit I don't know much about all the hardware that goes into these devices, but to me the Nexus has the advantage because, well, it's a Nexus! And that is strictly a software advantage as it will most likely get timely, BS free updates because it's Google's baby.
While I have loved my TB, I think it is because of all the GREAT developer support! Have I not rooted this device I would imagine that I would be a little more than frustrated with it by now. From the GB update tabacle to HTC saying that it will not be officially be getting Sense 3.0. Not to mention the reboot issues early in the devices career. IMO, the development for this device saved it ... IMO any way.
I will be getting the Nexus when it drops and I will be enjoying ICS goodness :-D I will have my TB waiting on the sidelines in the event something happens to my GN ...

Ooooooppps!
Yes, Devs most definitely saved this phone!
another thread about these eh?...
"if" I get a new phone, it's going to be the reZound as it's the successor to the greatest phone ever made, the Thunderbolt.
specs aside, I'm certain there's going to be a lot of support(roms/kernals/radios) just lke the Thunderbolt.
RAZR lost me with the non-removable battery(locked bootloader also, but I'm sure devs will get around that)
Nexus lost me with the 'no microSD' support & the 5MP camera(common! who doesn't use their phone to take nice pics these days anyway!?)
you could argue that Nexus will have ICS, but all 3 will in time(officially). not to mention unoffical roms that we'll all be using anyway
I must agree, Dev's really did save this phone. I'm also getting the Nexus but keeping the bolt on my desk just in case.
Coming from having the OG Droid for almost two years to the DInc. (only had the Inc. for two weeks) to the Thunderbolt. I will miss Sense, I am a fan, but I think ICS will be a nice change.
I am getting one or the other, will wait to play with in person. I am guessing HTC may get better battery life on ICS. I think the Nexus may be a tad to big and no SD card slot or removable battery, which sucks, but I am sure the screen will be incredible. The Rezound will have to impress to keep me with HTC.

The Nexus does have a removable battery.
keep in mind that the nexus is 1.2GHz dc & the rezound is 1.5GHz dc.
the nexus may also have a bigger screen(4.65" instead of 4.3") but it's not a super amoled + & has same pixel count as the iphone's 3.5" screen.

Higher MP doesn't mean that the camera will take better pics. It's all about the sensors that the phone uses. And if you want to take "nice pics", you should get a camera for that, not a phone.

oh I've got a 14mp panasonic lumix for that... but your phone is generally always on you, your camera is not. you need to make sure you are properly covered at all times for emergency picture taking. because you never know when "mother of god!!.. what the hell!?.." and you need to capture the moment.
not to mention paranormal occurances.
Don't get me wrong, I use my phone to take pics quite often. But is there really that big of a difference between 3 mega pixel? I never remember complaining about the pics my D1 took.

As mentioned, it's not "mp's" that makes great pictures it's the sensors. The only good thing about an 8mp over a 5mp is if you want to zoom in on someone and see if they have bloodshot eyes! Or more realistically, if you want to blow up a picture to poster size and not lose quality. I think the SGN went 5mp to gain better 0 shutter speed lag.
Anyhow, there are TONS of articles and forums posts that explain this in way better details. Point be said, the SGN having 5mp should NOT be a negative factor.

if you don't upgrade phones very often, wait a couple of weeks and see what deals that best buy, amazon and wirefly offer. I got 2 tbolts, 2 dinc2's for 300 total from amazon.
As far as the rezound, wow!!!
Better specs than I thought it would see. Thank you HTC for finally getting the screen right.
I was definitely in the nexus camp, but now, as long as we can get root on the rezound, I will probably get that after xmas. I like the no buttons look of ICS, but have preferred HTC over samsung for a long time now.
Did we get specs on how much storage the rezound is going to have? I'm hoping 32gb internal like the Nexus.

keep the amaze or go htc one S?

Hey guys sup!!!
Anyway, Tmo US is bringing in the HTC One S. Wondering what you guys think about it. Is it worth to switch, or just keep the amaze? I went form htc sensation to htc amaze in 1 month, now i'm not sure if i should do the same and switch to htc one s.....
if it were the htc one x with quad proc then should be a no brainer, but TMO US the way they are argghh, just don't get why they didn't get the htc one x instead....
any thoughts??? Also, I believe the galaxy note is now workable in TMO US, as someone here got it to work with a different radio....
I wouldn't, if people think battery life on the amaze sucks, it'll probably be worse on the one s because it has a smaller capacity battery, as for me the upgrades are very nice but not quite worth it to switch from the amaze. I don't like how OEMS are starting to remove the search button, its something i use all the time.
the fact that it has a non removable battery and no expandable memory are the killers for me. hell, i dont like the fact the amaze has an internal sd, but its tolerable
I agree, too soon to switch. Dev. is picking up and once the release of 'you know what' comes out it'll be a free for all. Nobody is working on 2.3 anymore, its the calm before the storm. I see lots of good things on the next couple of months for the amaze
If you don't care about not being able to pull your battery or increase your sdcard storage then upgrade.
Not being able to install a bigger sdcard and not being able to pull the battery are deal breakers for me. 16gb of storage is not enough for me. I'm already past 16gb on my 32gig. Not being able to pull the battery also means you won't be able to replace it with a better extended life one. We all know stock android batteries suck ass.
In my opinion, the one s is not much better than the amaze. Besides sense 4.0 it gots nothing else on the amaze and almost nothing at all when the amaze receives the official ics update.

One series has a kill switch instead of a removable battery (so u can mimick a batt pull, but can't replace a shot battery ) and the no removable/expandable memory is a DEFINITE buzzkill... But it does come with internal storage and that Dropbox hack built in for an extra 23 GB

I remember when I got my hero, I upgraded from a touch diamond, and I was blown away at the screen. That's what an upgrade should feel like, I look at my old one and then the new one, and you can definitely tell that there's an improvement. With today's phones, unless you're buying something that's got a 3D projection on it or something beamed straight to your brain, I think trying to top what we've already got is going to be pretty damn hard. 1080P? I can't notice much of a difference.

I think you would notice it on a 4.7 inch screen. Hell, my mytouch has a 3.8 in hdpi screen and I can tell a difference between that phone and my amaze. Maybe you need glasses?
The One S is a lot faster than the amaze.. supposedly ~60% increase clock for clock based on the new "s4" snapdragon. But that probably isn't enough of a reason to jump ship unless you have a lot of money you want to burn. The screen is also kind of weak on the One S. Hopefully tmobile gets a version of the X.
It has ics and suppose to be faster but can't upgrade the battery or memory i would pass

I said much of a difference. The current screens are very good nowadays anyway, the differences are miniscule. And I already wear glasses
btw, samsung can kiss my ass!
1080p on a 4.7 screen would be so pointless.. it would also be laggy, much more than 720p. even wvga looks decent on the titan, qhd look good, 720p looks amazing, thats a waste of tech/money lol. just my 2 cents.. most people that have normal human eyes don't notice a difference between 720/1080 unless the screen is around, or above 50"
samsung hasnt released a superamoled plus screen with anything above wvga as of now anyways, i dont see why or how they would jump to 1080p. unless they have been working on something for a quite a while
I don't get why some of you like to drop so much cash on new phones that do the same thing. Talk about wasting money.
From what I've read on the engadget review, the amaze has a better camera for stills. Plus once ics hops along we should be getting better battery life and performance.

I agree, I had to wait for a tax refund to buy my amaze, had the G2 for a year before getting the amaze and that was only because it was free with a new account. I'll stick with it for awhile now, I love tech but I don't find a need or have the cash to upgrade every 6 months when some l "cutting edge" device comes out.
Once some "other" things happen for amaze it'll be even more of a beast.

This.
Obviously the Tegra 3 would beat the Note in terms of raw performance.
But I love the Note because of it's versatility. It's more than just a phone.
Two things make the Note the winner in my eyes. The screen, and the fact that I hate Sense. Samsung has screens on lock, and I couldn't go away from Super AMOLED or this 5.3" beauty. And I know Sense is easily dealt with by custom launchers and such, but the icons still bug me in the app drawer.
Plus, I don't have any complaints with my Note's performance, so any performance improvements from here will really only interest me if they improve battery life with similar performance...that, or I want to be able to hook my phone up to a controller and HDTV and play Battlefield 3 online.
Didn't read that article, but I'm gonna say that I still prefer Note over the One X.
I usually "rent" the newest phones for a couple of months before returning it, but I still haven't tried out the intl One X yet (and probably gonna pass on it).
Other than some casual skimming online, the One X looks like it's barely even better than the original GS2 (if at all...)
Although it looks like the One series is something "different"...I'm not too sure how fast HTC can recover from consecutive quarters of having decreasing profits.
That's what happened from them releasing EVO rehashes....whereas Samsung actually released newer upgraded stuff.
Coming from the htc evo I already hate htc with there crappy sence stuff... The evo was a cool phone for a bit and the new htc one x looks nice but im loving samsungs screens and i love the huge screen on my note... I would rather stick to my note!!!

I'd prefer the international HTC One X over the AT&T Galaxy Note, but if we're comparing both AT&T versions, I'd go for the Note.
I am sticking with the note. I hate when he does the quadrant on the note. That's not accurate. I would get 3200 on stock. He has to many rogue apps running. My SERAPHIM ICS ROM averages 3500 quadrant. So that is a unfair comparison.

The ones has awesome battery life? I thought it did not, and I don't like the fact that a battery can't be swapped out.
The ones looks nice but I like my Note, especially since I got it 2 months ago and I have probably about 16 months until upgrade eligible!
I'm not as worried about the non-swap battery as I am the lack of a MicroSd slot. While I generally don't bump up against the internal storage max, I always feel more comfortable knowing I can add additional storage if (and I always seem to add a card ) I want/need to.
I have to say that I love my note and other than rooting it at present, I am sticking with stock till ICS or a really stable ROM comes along.

Not to mention they're comparing the international OneX to the AT&T note which for most people here makes no sense (haha, get it?). The AT&T OneX will only have a dual core 1.5GHz Snapdragon which is found in the Note because the Tegra 3 doesn't support LTE. So this thread is kind of pointless. The Note has a bigger and better screen, better UI, and everything else is about the same between the two.
Oh and a non-removable battery and no memory expansion? What are we, Iphone users now?
I am pretty confident the ATT One X is going to have the S4 anyway... No LTE support on the Tegra 3.

look at the specs page. Yes it will only have a dual core. That's honestly what killed it for me. From this note I'll step up to a phone with a quad core that also support LTE. Now since no such device exists yet, I'll be here for a while.

If you mean why did the websites compare the two? Probably because they're both the new edgy devices and wanted more readers to think that they had something insightful to day. Or they were just bored and wanted to kill all our time.
If you mean the OP? I'd probably say they were bored.
How did this guy manage to get 2254 in quadrant on the note? I got over 3500 out of the box...

It'll sell but not like it should since HTC can't figure out how to put a big battery in a phone.

This and only 16GB with no SD, locked bootloader and craptons of VZW bloat. I feel bad for HTC really...
I don't think the locked bootloader or bloat will affect sales much. Not many people are going go with something else because of this - it's not like Verizon has alternatives. Most people probably won't even ask what the battery size is and just see the 12.5 hours of usage and think it's enough. People just getting off of a 2 year that don't research phones also wouldn't think to ask if it has a sd card slot since that was standard last time they got a phone. Kind of like asking if a tv comes with a remote, you just figure it does since they have for a good while.

I share your excitement but I'm pretty sure one of the HTC reps said the red grilles on the sides are only aesthetic, not speakers or anything.
HOWEVER. They have incorporated 2 audio amps, one for line jack and one for speaker! So line out will be getting around 2.5amp vs the normal 0.5-1.0amp (or was it volt? idk) So louder music with less distortion!

no it doesn't it's not even 3000MaH. Huge power hungry screen and power hungry LTE and a Wimpy battery not a good mood unless the technology for running it is 5 *better than 4.1.2 lol

unless you live by the boondocks and constantly jump between 3g and 4g, lte can actually use less power, since it can finish a download and turn off like 5 times faster than 3g

Awesome.
The phone is the only quad core phone on Verizon other than Note....and that has a screen way too big. Verizon had kinda screwed with the Butterfly because it had a SD slot and more battery. Verizon could have made this one of the most popular phone on the market with some nice ads and stuff like Samsung had done with S3. Ah well, when will they learn that giving users what they want will make both sides happier.

Really its not HTC its all Verizon because you see so many ads for Sprint, AT&T, and T -mobile HTC devices. Verizon controls HTC a lot with sd slot and battery. Why make one x+ have 64 gigs and not their flagship? That's Verizon for ya

I jumped ship, but i had no choice! Help me choose

Alright so i had gotten a warranty replacement OG earlier last week and i had woken up one day only to find it unable to turn on, LG logo would show and then would just turn off, tried to LGNPST it and it had no effect so i called ATT and they sent me to a device support store. They tried using their own LG tools and could not communicate with the phone so they considered it a dead on arrival phone. They didn't have any OG at that location and i needed a phone that day because i was making a long road trip and couldn't go without my phone (gps) so they gave me a OX+... with the option to have them send me an OG when i got home and me send them the OX+ back. aaaaannnd i really really like the OX+.. It does benchmark slightly lower than my OG 17500(ish on the OG) vs 15500 on the OX+ (but i hear that antutu is snapdragon biased?) anyways, hardware wise the OG is better, but this thing is so damn nice in my hand, build quality is awesome, i love the sound quality when plugged into aux (had to turn up the radio to like 30 with the OG to get a muddy quality loudish audio, where the beats eq makes it sound amazing, way louder at like 19 on the radio and MUCH more crisp and clean audio) Camera is way better, 64 gb of internal is nice... plenty of dev.. Im for real torn between them both, i love certain things about both of em and dont like certain things.. Guess i just would like to know what others opinions are about the OX+ compared to the OG, maybe this isnt the right place to post this for an unbiased opinion, but please try and be unbiased? haha
tl;dr
My OG got messed up, they gave me an HTC One X+, i really like it but love the OG also, would like to hear unbiased opinions to help make decision which to keep.
Keep the one x+ if you like it. I would if it was me.
I agree with gunnyman. Keep the HOX+, if you like it. Either way you have a very good phone. Best plan may be to research it like you are buying a new one and pick the one that you like best. If it's truly a toss up, keep the one that you have in hand.
To me the only difference between the HOX+ and the LGOG is expandable storage vs fixed, but 64GB, actually what 58 GB ish? is plenty.
I'm told the battery life on the HOX+ isn't as good, because Krait chips use less power over all and have integrated the LTE radio on the SoC.
If someone approached me today and wanted to trade my LGOG for a HOX+ I'd probably take them up on it.
I may be biased though because my One X is the best phone I've ever owned.

Ok, not trying to start a argument at all. This is just my opinion so do not take this the wrong way. My wife has a one x and I can't stand it. It was ok to begin with but over time I have grown to hate it. She has went through seven replacements since this past September. All for different reasons. To me it is a cheaply made device. She definitely won't get another htc phone and I won't either for that matter. If I was the op I would stick with the lg.

I had 2 HOX's the first one had a bad camera module in it. I've heard of people with problems with theirs for sure, but luckily mine was rock solid.
Only reason I got rid of it was I got sick of At&T and their restrictions on bootloader unlock and such.

Yes. And my One X was fully rooted and had custom ROMS, however it was a pain in the ass and in protest I got rid of my One X.
To solve your sound issues on the OG, use MysteryEmotions' kernel and the FauxSound and Speaker Loudness apps. The camera is a distinct win for the X+. Everything else is either close or a win for the OG. I considered the X+ before I bought my OG, but the OG had a lot more in the Pro column when weighing the Pros and Cons between the two. I wouldn't trade it now for anything currently out there. Even of the upcoming devices only the Experia Z has piqued my interest.
Hmm.. I think I need to root it and remove bloat to really make a solid decision. I've decided that the only thing that the OG wins with is s4 pro and 2gb of ram... Is the s4 pro really that much better?
Also with the mystery & faux fix, it's nice knowing that it was cared about when the phone was being made, not give it the worst possible quality and then never fixed.
Bout to root it and see what's up with the stock rom

the S4 pro is a generation ahead of Tegra 3.
smaller nanometer fab, lower power.
I think the only place it loses to Tegra 3 is GPU, and even that's just barely.
You lose some effects on some games and access to the tegrazone games, but I don't use my phone for heavy duty gaming, I have a Nexus 7 for that.
For me, the feel in the hand and the excellent build quality of the One X+ beat out the LGOG.
The nice thing about the HOX+ is of course, official repos for CM10

Yeah, the S4 Pro is built upon a better chip architecture, and is definitely faster/more efficient then the Tegra 3. Where I would like to disagree is the GPU. Sure Tegra has their effects, but any phone can run those, and use Chainfire3D to unlock that stuff on any phone. The Adreno 320, scores more than double in GPU benchmarks the X+ score.
The X+ wins in official support for now, but other than roms, it has a better camera, and the sound quality is definitely a placebo: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/06/26/beats-me-why-htcs-amazing-sound-on-the-international-one-x-isnt-amazing-at-all-even-by-the-numbers/

Idk if i can agree on the sound quality being a placebo.. The difference in quality with beats off and then beats on is like night and day. And I could Never get the og to sound decent no matter what rom, ad-on, app I used. Always sounded like garbage..
I don't play games on any phone.. Idk how people can be hard core gamers on these.. Lol

I had oX+ for a day or 2 and returned it and got LGOG. For some reason I could not take even a lil bit of "sense"... Also 2GB ram on this one made me think it will last longer (for support) than OX+. (my 2 cents )

Beats is merely an EQ. Its not some type of crazy hardware. I've used the official Beats EQ compared to a One X and the OG was similar. With Poweramp and high quality files, sound quality is awesome on my OG. Yeah 2GB of RAM guarantees support for much longer through ROMs.

Yeah the One X+ may have better audio hardware than the OG. It's definitely better stock, but a little tweaking and the OG can be great too (PowerAmp, FauxSound, etc ). Wish we had a Wolfson though

I think I'm going to keep it. They're selling for higher prices than the OG so I could potentially sell for something else.. The 1gb of ram is really really bugging me though..

Don't let it. Android will manage the ram. You'll only notice if you run more than 4 or 5 apps at once and constantly switch between them. Even with 1 GB of ram androids beat the hell out of iOS for multitasking.
