ADW Launcher dock custom icons disappearing - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having a problem with custom icons in the launcher.
When I turn the phone in landscape and back, the icons either return to the standard ones, or disappear all together.
Before:
After:
Or after 2:
If you open the icon settings dialog however, the custom icon is still there!
Any ideas?

Its because of ram issue, use ram manager in which you can lock the launcher

Didn't work. My phone also started to go funky after a reboot, might be a conflict with the data2sd script...

Anyone's got the solution? It's really annoying...

Ok, changing the icons and then going into adw settings and choosing close and restart seems to have solved it.

Launcher question

I want a launcher that I can have the option to hide or remove the dock and icons so I can place a widget in that area is there any such option in launcherpro? Or do I have to get something else.

Adw has this option. launcher pro does not.

yes, and ADW Ex has even more customization. definately worth a few dollars
Alright I found the setting
Is there any way to have a shortcut or something that would pull up the app catalog without having the dock?
The only way I could do it was by enabling one icon but that defeats the purpose of me doing this since Im trying not to have any icons on the bottom of the screen where the dock is so I can make my own shortcut with minimalistic text

You should be able to set that as a swype gesture in the adw settings. Or set the home button to open close the app drawer.

Yeah I actually figured out something I was doing wrong in trying to get the look. It wasn't minimalistic text it was actually a dock and with launcher pro i just made some blank icons and set swipe feautures and it came out how I wanted. Thanks

[Q]Laggy Task Manager

Hi, I recently noticed big slowdown in built in task manager. I have to wait about 15 seconds before it kills process/opens/closes. Also I noticed that it consumes about 10%of battery. Anyone had such problem?
EDIT: It feels like it's because of ADW Launcher Ex... Anyone can install, use it for a while and confirm it?
Yes I can confirm the same behaviour, after not seeing anyone else report it - I thought it was just me.
Recently I was so fed up with Task Manager almost locking up my tab that I completely wiped it and put Overcome ROM on there, I haven't experienced it since however from reading your post I just realised that it was ADW Launcher all along, that's the only thing I haven't reinstalled since the wipe.
Good find.

I've found temporary "fix" for it. Just frozen task closer in titatnium bakup, and I'm using Advanced Task Killer now. but I hope that developer will fix it, I've already send him an email.
I only have this issue with the task killer widget so I don't use it. Longpressing home or swiping the tqsk bar works just fine for me with adw EX.

Lock Screen Replacement

I'm using widget locker with honeycomb theme and was wondering if there is a way to replace the stock lock screen with this one due to a few force closes making it revert to stock lock screen.

I used MagiLocker for a little while, but it seemed a little laggy to me.

I use WidgetLocket too with the ICS theme, and haven't had it force close once. It has worked perfectly for me so far. Maybe trying reinstalling it? Are you rooted or running mostly stock?
I'n rooted running adw ex with the snowball mod. I was wantint to replae stock lockscreen and not just have an overlay. Just seems like it would run better.

I find that with both widget locker and go launcher, that even if I have links to the apps copied to the system/app folder, my clock widget (fancy widget) loses the skin definition and needs to be reapplied.
Otherwise, things work fine.
Do you think putting a link to fancy widget in system/app would fix the clock skin issue?
Don't know if this would work but on my phone I use NoLock to disable the stock and Go Locker as a replacement. Might be worth a try.
There is a setting in the widget locker settings to disable stock lock screen. Can't remember where it is right now in the settings tho.
As far as the widgets disappearing after reboot, I have the same issue and haven't found a way to fix it yet.

If you want them not to lose configuration you have to move them from datt/app
to system/app and there you should give them full permissions. That has solved my problem with widgets in Go launcher

[Q] MeanROM 1.93 - Resize issues

I love the new Rosie size that comes with this new version of MeanROM. However, I am having trouble with resizing widgets on it. Specifically, I have tried 3 RSS readers (google and two others). Each one has an issue if I try to resize it when it's on the top row. It causes Sense to enter an infinite loading loop. I haven't had this issue with friend steam or the HTC calendar widgets when resizing them. The only way I can break the loading loop is to uninstall the app/widget by going through the settings drop down. As long as I don't resize while on the top row i don't have any issues. Unfortunately, this also defeats having some of the extra space the 5 x 4 mod gives.
I did a clean wipe before installing.

u should have just posted this in the mean rom thread!! thats what they are there for.. opps sorry boss u need atleast 10 posts to post in rom threads.. my bad
the 4X5 Rosie is new and Meanrom is the first. Give Mikey some time to work out the kinks. For now, switch to the 4X4 Rosie or don't put your widget in the top row.
Hey, if we don't point out what is causing an issue it won't get fixed.

Mikey has released 2 more updates with more tweaking of the 4X5 Rosie. Try 2.1 and see if that works.
