[Q] changing the housing from black to white.. - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

im just wondering how hard if even possible it is to change my black s2 into a white 1.. iv seen the housing kits on ebay quite cheap. i know the back is easy to do just 6/7 screws to undo, im just wondering about the front really.. is the screen glued in can it be poped out and put into the new white housing? has any 1 tried/done this?

A search will find the answer as usual question been asked before probably in Accessories .

HTC Touch pro 2 FULL Housing now on EBAY (non OEM)

Just saw this on ebay...Im a fan of housing and facia. But i know %98 of TP2 owner right now dont wanna touch the Hardware section of the phone.( for customizing)
It Just nice too see that we can tweak not only whats inside but also the outside too... Im just hoping for a nice fit and high quality. Its too early to tell how good this housing is but i wanna know soon.

I also noticed that a couple days ago but they only offer red and blue right now. I'm not savy enough but I think it's a cool options
For that, did you know how to dismount the TP2 ?
Looks like not really easy to operate at first glance...
You get a screwdriver with it ... just find all the screws and replace!
wait few months... dismantling this phone will be on youtube!
I noticed those when I bought my TP2 last week... to bad they are only red and blue. I would be down for black, or maybe a nice dark green. They look nice from the photo. I don't like taking apart slider phones... PITA
The Wing wasn't so bad. I did the whole thing solo since my brother broke his screen and there weren't any dismantling guides available yet. It's easier than you think... just don't force anything and keep a sharp eye open for screws.
The only problem with swapping the case for a T-Mobile version is that you have to keep the T-Mobile keyboard. The layout is unique to T-Mobile and the HTC version (as well as other carriers) vary from model to model.

It's really easy to swap cases. I had to replace the screen on my room mates Kaiser which is a slider tilt screen device as well. Took me 40 mins tops & I had to completely disassemble it. Will probably have to again soon. He broke his screen a second time lmao. The one thing I'll note though is for T-Mobile, the whole device is different basicly. The screen does have a tappered edge & the screen cover is bigger & the battery cover is a completely different design. the Stylus doesn't go through it. So, the T-Mobile wouldn't be completely changible. As for the keyboard, that can be changed via ROM. The HTC Kaiser has a different KB Layout than the AT&T Tilt, we just install a CAB to "fix" this as the ROM's are made for the HTC version. Also, the Sprint/Verizon/AT&T(From what I read) have Headphone Jacks. You could arguably use only part of the kit, but for $80-100+, I want one completely compatible with my device.
As for Colors, there's a full silver/full black/& black & orange version available. I wish they made them available in pieces so you could mix & match parts. For example the Battery covers.
Anyone knows whether a housing is available for the european version? Mine has some ugly scratches due to close contact with the asphalt Can't find a new housing though, only bezels... I need a new grey edge around the keyboard to which the battery cover is attached aswel. Is this even possible?
Luckily, the keyboard, screen and batt cover are still intact, and the phone is still functioning properly. It is now protected by a plastic rubberized case and a screenprotector.
Help would be very welcome!
I'm thinking about giving this a try to replace the screwed up button layout that ATT provided. If I can just swap the buttons and the remap the keys with a cab file I'm thinking I can get the QWERTY keyboard back to it's original form.
Anyone else tried this?
Jon
Tried going to the link but it appears to have been "removed".....anywhere else?
This one is working for me.

Dismantling HTC Touch PRO2, HTC Rhodium in pictures...
The above dismantling link has been in the XDA-Wiki for several months now.
So what? If someone asks a question and I can help, I sure will. Or should I be an smartass and tell it's around here, use the search... Maybe it's your thing, not mine.
i'd like to try to replace the bezel on the screen-part, it's got little wholes and even a completely crushed section.. but according to the link you'll have to disassemble the whole keyboard-part in order to do that.. isnt there an easier way to replace the bezel??
just wanted to let everyone know that I have the black/blue case from ebay china. It took 3 weeks but I finally have it.
After taking apart my g1 and 90% housing conversion from white to black. I accidentally cut one of the ribbons off and broke the phone. So im a little scared to take apart this $400 phone. Didnt mind the g1 because there dirt cheap and easy to find another one.
If you all can gather some links and any guides I will probably convert my tmo tp2 to the new housing sunday mourning. unless someone can confirm that its extremly easy to switch housing.
Just an example of the g1 dissemble.

ive been modding hardware since everyone had a nextel i730. ive seen alot of crappy poorly made housings in my days. usually the first and second generation batches of housings that come out are poorly cut, or made of brittle plastics. i would advise that when looking for housings(especially for expensive devices), that you get a 3rd generation housing and look on youtube for directions.
So excited.
I am trying to covert my T-mobile touch pro 2 soon. The full housing will arrive in 2 days. I dropped my precious on the pavement.... T-mobile housing is nowhere to be found so I bit the nail. Hopefull it's going to turn out awesome
Check this one for taking apart. flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/sets/72157621828152091/

Replacement Hero Housing/Facia

Hey guys,
My white unlocked Hero has sustained some nasty body scratches plus it is starting to turn yellow. I'm considering a full body replacement. I was only able to find this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/GENINUE-HOUSING-FACEPLATE-FACIA-GOOGLE-G3-HTC-
HERO-WT_W0QQitemZ280402919652QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item41495100e4
Do you think that it's going to be as good as the original one? The seller claims that it's genuine, What do you think?
I found a site that has both the black and white housing for the gsm hero.
http://www.truesupplier.com/faceplate-housing-cover-for-htc-hero-g2-touch-white-color-pr-18489.html
How do I know that it's genuine? or at least as good as the original HTC cover?

The web page is called "truesupplier.com". OF COURSE its genuine
How hard is it to change the housing anyway?
by changing housing you will probably break phone trust me ... and truesupplier housing is oem not genuine by looks of it..
He might not break it if he's careful, and has the proper tools. I've taken apart a few phones without causing any problems.
So unless i'm handy at doing these things, I should not do it myself?
What if I have our local HTC agent do it? Will it at least look as good as new?
i have the white hero and would love to put the black case on it.
the site mentioned above says it comes with the tools needed to change the cover, has any tried doing this?
i would love to go for it but don't want to f*&k my phone up!
i think its not so difficult to switch the cover if you take off the backcover there are 6 screws than open the case from the top of the mobile phone and pull it off
but becarefull maybe there are flatcables from die lcd or the trackball just make it slow and be carefull all the time
and maybe you can find a dissembly how to in google
peace
this site has pics of disassembly of a hero but it's in russian.

If you have to pry the phone open use something plastic so you dont damage the original case. Just in case the ebay housing is rubbish.

whats the difference between oem and genuine
any1 bought replacement white hoising? mine is getting yellow. so need to buy a back cover.
Thinking of buying one myself. I accidentally dropped mine on the tiled floors of my workplace toilets LOL (luckily not IN the toilet). so now there's a little nick on the top left corner of the case.
If this is your first time you will probably scratch the covers but nothing more. You need to be very patient and i will suggest take a look to a good tutorial.
iopened my hero 1 week ago and its so easy maybe in the next days i will upload a video in youtube
bye
I bought the ebay one. It's surprisingly well built (Not Teflon though).
The sad part is that my touch screen got screwed up during the installation. The bottom part of the screen is no longer functional and the sensitivity is messed up overall. Did the replacement in a local phone shop.
Now trying to find a way to fix it.

That would be greatly appreciated!
hmm do you want to sell me your backplate of your old case? i need it please
and to fix your problem : you need a new display glas with digitizer
to remove your old glas: use a hairdryer, you have to heat up the old clue of the old glas and than you can push it easily out of the frame but be carefull not to heatup the frame, the plastic can deform, maybe you can cover it with aluminium foil from the kitchen
the video of the dissembly will be uploaded tomorrow by me
good night guys!

Where can I find new display glass for HTC hero? or can I just buy something generic?
I don't mind giving you my old backcover though it's in a very bad shape (which is why I wanted to replace it in the first place).

Surprisingly I am currently looking into changing to white housing. I saw some on ebay which had a white back cover and all, but then again I do not think they are OEM and you may not be happy with their quality... as for the keyboard -I am not sure if I saw some with a white keyboard or not, but I am sure there is something out there.... maybe your best bet is to order an OEM white housing, then order the all white back cover on the side...?
How about the trackball? Are you going to get a white/clear trackball? or does the black G1 have that already...I know the bronze one has a black trackball...
i found some cool housings by Googleing g1 housings but i have not found any key boards or buttons. and there was this site called cool colors or something like that would do it for you like 175$ but they dont do it for g1s anymore only bb and nexus 1
thx for the answes guys .
What i want is ALL WHITE, but almost all Housing's are White but with Keyboard in Silver but keys in white with bronze the Symbols . So i found a white keyboard, with letters and numbers in some grey almost black and symbols in green . got to buy a only back cover in white, and try to get a non silver keyboard .
Its gonna cost much more than buying it all together but i want that colors D: so the only thing is, OEM no ? and if somebody knows some page where they sell housing, just post it plz .
Oh and the other thing is the Trackball, cuz i got it black D: gonna see if there is a white one on ebay or something .
PD : sry if i misspelled something, im from Argentina D:

If its from the eBayer seller ibestone, than I wouldn't buy from them.
I bought a full black and full white from them few months ago. The white keypad was QWERTZ while their listing showed QWERTY. The black LCD face didn't have the nutts in the housing but the white one did. The sellers solution was use fire to melt the old ones out and melt them in the new one. Also his solution for the QWERTZ keypad was either use the old one (which was bronze) learn and get used to QWERTZ or send it the whole thing back.
While his g1 housings came with everything except the screws, maybe its a different seller.

I saw a lot of trackballs on ebay...they have different colors maybe you might want a clear / white one..then you could think like me and get a blue or red one ? or did you say you wanted a green keyboard or something ? then you can get a green trackball ...idk its up to you but I saw some on ebay...
I was going to do this then I just found a nice White G1 so I dont feel like taking it apart just yet....First thing I did after I bought it was order a white battery cover (lol)...I really would like an all white keyboard as well (like you stated) I find the key pads but not the key pad housing (only found that in non white colors) ...I can always paint it of course (but I would rather not go through that hassle).....
Curious
Hey guys, i'm kinda curious as to how do I replace my housing for the g1?
The housing for my white g1, is chipped, and i'm thinking of getting a new red one, from true supplier.
Do i need to know how to open it? will there be a manual? I dont mind white keys, but the silver might plate might look odd with it. any advice?

[Q] Note 8 - Shattered Glass

hey guys, sorry if i put this in the wrong spot. move it for me if i did?
anyways, i shattered the glass on my note 8 n5110. lcd is ok.
i know they sell kits, but i could only find them in white, And mine is black/brown.
1.) could you guys find me one?
2.) could you tell me how to do it?
ill answer any questions you have, sorry if i wasnt clear about something.
Just choose the white color screen and buy a white back cover together
Hello, I searched Samsung Galaxy NOTE 8 N5100 N5110 LCD Digitizer Screen on ebay. Yes, you are right, there are only white colors available. And the sellers are very less. You can buy this white color LCD with touch glass together and buy a white back cover too, then take it to your local repair shop for help. They can help you to replace the broken screen and the back cover together. At last, your Note 8 will be a total white color !:cyclops: Hope this is helpful...
Have you checked this with your local phone repair shop?
Some of them may either have stock for the black version or may be able to place an order for it.
This might sound ghetto, but I would say just get a white one, cover the screen in masking tape and use spray paint on that sucker. Ha. You can get spray paint specifically for plastic and it doesn't rub off. That's what I did with my phone's back cover. It has held up for over a year with no rubbing away.
