[Q] One Series Issues? - HTC Amaze 4G

http://androidandme.com/2012/04/sma...periencing-design-problems-with-new-handsets/
surprised to see that users are experiencing so many problems, i could see the LCD wavering but the coat chipping off?
hoping if t-mobile sees a g4x that we don't see the same issues.
any thoughts?

HTC is going down the drain with quality now. They need to get their act together...

Ouch... so much for the new HTC policy about quality over quantity...

[Q] - If you were to upgrade, which phone would you choose ?

Hi Guys,
Unfortunately I have to send my SGS2 back to Orange UK. I've had the phone for 4 days but I've got 2 issues with it... Battery warning while charging " too hot or too cold " and now I've found I'm also getting the Echo issue when I've got the case on.
I've looked into both the issues and they're both very common, so although this is by far the best phone I've had ( and I've had a few ) I simply can't keep it. I'm not going get the SGS2 replaced like for like, so my question is :
If you were in the market for an upgrade right now, what would you go for ? unfortunately I can't wait for the Prime to be released... I need to decide within the next few days.. I'm thinking maybe HTC Sensation XL or XE..
Any thoughts ?
Thanks
Dmonty
i know you said you can't wait for the nexus prime, but if i were you i would, its going to be an amazing phone, try wait for it, use a crappy nokia while you wait, nexus prime shouldnt be too far away...
isnt the sensation xe exactly the same as the original sensation? in fact i think there is a rom you can flash to make the sensation into an XE version...
At this moment in time there is no phone worth upgrading to as this is the best there is, i couldn't afford to keep upgrading anyway im happy with the SGSII until the SGS3 is released, the nexus prime sounds good but Samsung are releasing too many smartphones too soon in my opinion and i guarantee you sales of the nexus prime wont be anywhere near the SGSII.
Hi guys thanks for the advice,
Unfortunately I honestly can't wait for the Prime due to my contract situation. I'm not too sure about the HTC Sensation ( although a fantastic phone ) it just seems like a downgrade from the SGS2.
Is there another make of phone that may come close to the SGS2 that I've overlooked ?
I may even take a chance and get a replacement SGS2 in the hope that the replacement doesn't have the Noise Reduction or Battery issues.
Thanks
Dmonty
i think SGS II is the best one among of them ( HTC Sensation and so on ... )
Nothing current, unless you go to the fruity side.
Get another SGS2? I've had mine since launch no issues at all.
Next best would be the HTC sensation with beats.
Again, Prime and the new droid razr are the most recent upcoming phones.

I'd get another s2.
Echo might be due to the little mike being covered by the case.

I had this problem with my GSII, too hot or too cold. Did a cache and stat wipe, battery out for half hour then put it on charge. Strangely, battery temp monitor was claiming it was 40 something degrees, but it was freezing cause i left it in my office at home which is ice cold (close to zero) usually.

quality build indeed

I spent about an hour tonight checking out the Amaze at my local tmo store and I was impressed with the feel and build quality. I compared it to the Samsung and while it's display was nice the rest of the phone left me wanting, the default dpi is way off (I'm not legally blind) and the UI was lacking as well. On the other hand Sense was not as bad as I thought it would be, I can feel ok knowing that HTC has stated that ICS will be released for my phone, where on the other hand Samsung has a poor track record on updates comparatively. The kicker is I can pick it up for 99 bucks through our corporate rep with no activation and a 10% discount on the monthly. Bye bye Optimus-T, hello Amaze 4G.
Also hoping for s-off soon which should allow for more ROMs.

You don't actually need S-Off.
You can flash any rom available for the Amaze 4G.
The only problem is that you may have to manually flash the kernel (boot.img) file.
Has anyone noticed any screen bleed from the capacitive buttons? I bought a slightly used one from the market to use on attand it has horrible screen bleed.
I wish I could send it in to htc for a replacement but I don't think they would allow it. Other than that the phone is basically new. It's a shame but guess I'll either keep it as a backup to my vivid or sell or trade it.

Interesting.. SO the bleed comes from those buttons. Maybe HTC will release a patch to dim them a little. I have the Evo 3 and there is no screen bleed.
Htc makes really solid devices and ive been really happy with what ive seen but.. dunno how to say this
Htc make amazing devices and probably the best but they always have a flaw. Ive had:
touch pro 2- overall not that gr8
Nexus one - screen multitouch problem
Htc hd 2 - screen broke easily (atleast for me cuz i broke 3)
Htc mytouch 4g - actually that was the best phone as far as build quality ive seen (of all time)
Htc sensation - dust bunnies all over ...well everything to be honest
And now screen bleed from the buttons.
Maybe we should write a letter to htc and tell them to check their phones one more time before selling them.
Dont get me wrong regardless of those issues i still think that Htc makes the best phones.

I'll take screen bleed over lack of long term support software-wise.

Really you paid good money for this phone and would take 1 issue over another. It's people like you that encourage these OEM to not gave a damn about quality control . But HTC insist on pushing a multitude of devices every month trust me quality control is the last thing on their mind if it's even there to began with. Didn't mean to come out rude.

I wouldn't even call this screen bleed. The light comes from those buttons and not the lcd screen itself. I am sure it can be solved if they lower the brightness but either way it doesn't bother me. Disable the button light and you wouldn't see it.

Yea I notice that too, plus my friend has actual light leakage around corners of the screen.

Hate to shatter your tiny rose-colored world, but nothing in life is perfect. No matter how much you spend on something, it inherently has flaws [see:luxury items]. Find me one (1) perfect, tangible, man-made object that will get physical use, and I will buy you a rock to throw through the walls of a glass house.
Just one.

Again, find me something perfect--you can't. TBBH, it is just a phone--$500 is a lot of money to you? I'd hate to think of the hell you will raise once you can afford to spend $180k for a house, and it doesn't wipe your @ss for you.
And yes, life is about settling for the things that make you happy, as well as get a job done.

Really?? Thats your example? No i would not expect my house to whipe my @ss but i would like it to have windows... And regardless of how much money you make 500 bucks means something.
Htc/Samsung/Motorola make really good phones and we pay a good amout of money for them but lately the have been halfassing on the quality control and thats not good. We have to tell them to fix it because we are the final consumer.
Im pretty sure that if there was no screen bleed we wouldve found something else to be unsatisfied about but this is xda. We are here to improve the user experience and in order to do that we cant think like you.

So.....
Back to the reason I started this thread, After 4 days with my Amaze I have to say I love it, my Optimus-T feels like a toy in comparison now. I do however notice the bleed from the capacitive buttons and would like to be able to set a time out regardless of lighting situation, which would take care of any real complaints since you would most likely only notice it while viewing some sort of media.

Hardware problems?

Hi everyone,
I want to buy EVO 3D, so i need to know, what are common hardware problems with this phone if any (overheating, dust under screen, dead/stuck pixel....etc.)???
Thanks
My first EVO 3d had a green, dead pixel. The only time it gets overheated is when its plugged in, or I am using gps and my mobile network on a sunny day it gets hot.

Lots of users in the beginning reported their EVO 3Ds shutting off randomly. I just bought the EVO 3D and had the same issue and narrowed it down to being Sense-ROM related (didn't happen on AOSP ROMs).
I only got the phone because I had the Sensation for TMo and loved it. I think the 3D is a disappointment IMO. I'd recommend waiting til June and getting the EVO LTE (or whatever it will be called).
My nightmare is ,,dust under screen,, I have 2 htc sensation and with booth i have dust and i can't live with that and i sold them. I don't want to make mistake so i need more opinions. Thanks for reply
I was thinking to wait for the ,,ONE S,, but i think that htc make a lot of mistakes at the begining with this phone (don't have sd card slot, don't have radio, can't remove the battery...etc). I think that Evo 3d will be good phone for at least one year.

what about wifi and screen fault ?

Hi
I wonder about wifi and screen fault in the one X did they fix it in the one X+ I will sell my one x because of the wifi and the screen and Iam confused about one X+ and the SGSIII
thanks
Your english is hard to understand, but I think I know what you want to say.
Wifi fault is fixed for all One X+, and the fix is applied to all antennas. So wifi, bluetooth, GPS, 3G, all will not have that issue. Screen faults should be much less likely, as HTC has had many months to learn how to properly make the screens.
Yeah Iam sorry for my english its my second language and yeah thats what I mean so now I have just to wait for the One X+
Thanks
Sent from my HTC One X
I'm also interested in screen problems. When I was looking for One X months ago I couldn't find one without screen flex/ripple, yellow spots problems so bought Galaxy Nexus instead. If there is someone who tested the device or came across a video about these issues I would like to hear a word from them.
I think that is wise to wait for proper reviews.

[Q] About to get a HTC ONE, few quetions

Hi guys, I'm about to buy a second hand HTC ONE but I heard that trhe camera has a defect, purple tint.
-How can I check if it does have the defect?
-Is it something that happens over time?
-Is there anything I should know before I make this purchase?
Thank you!
If it has the tint problem, it usually seems to be at its worst when the phone is warm. Neither my m7, or my wife's m7 have this problem though, so I can not say for sure.
Most of these M7 camera problems I have seen have been software related.
The newest camera app provided with the Sense 6 update is fairly good at fixing this issue.
The HTC One is bar none the BEST phone I have ever owned. And I own MANY.
Don't let this glitch stop your purchase.
