Honeycomb? - Motorola Photon 4G

Uggg...tired of dealing with sprint. Anyway just wanted to let everyone know that 2 cs reps have told me that honeycomb is now available for the photon. Smh.
Sad part is they argued this as fact. Asked for link, version number, build number etc. They told me to go to the store to get it. :banghead:

Wow... I wish they would evaluate the knowledge of the employees before hiring them. I went to radio shack the other day and asked for a quad A battery (here you can only get them from the employee) and she argued with me saying there was no such battery lol.
She was a really hot blond though..

I used to be an in store technical consultant. We were better trained on the phones than anyone. I used to get annoyed with customer service myself. If you go to a store with techs don't assume we are idiots please. They were great to work with and i still have alot of respect of their skill. My lead tech is the one who taught me to use xda and just keep quiet about it.

We have some members here on XDA that are bright as he**. The remaining Sprint employees are idiots!!!!!!!!!!! Want me to prove it?
August 21, 2011 I go to Sprint store, Rt 4 at the Garden State Plaza in NJ. My power button fell off and I wanted new phone. The girl tells me, I will have the Tech look at it. Homie comes out the back and ask me, ready for it..............
"Have you have this for 30 days or more?"
In case that flew over your head, Photon did not hit the streets until August 1st, 2011, there is no way I could have owned the phone more that 21 days!!

Okay. Well I guess everyone should be judged separately then. I like to think I am fairly bright myself and I did a great job at Sprint. The reason he asked about the 30 days was because it is almost a reflex to ask that question when we see a new phone with damage. The reason for that is those types of exchanges are not actually done by the manager instead of the Technical Consultant. As soon as we confirm it happened in under 30 days (now two weeks) we can have a manager authorize us giving you a new phone. Its simply methods and procedures.

Best Buy Pre-Order SUCKS!

So, I had my pre-order with BB for aut 3 weeks. When I placed the pre, I explained to the rep that I was doing the 1 year upgrade. So, yesterday, I was back and forth from BB and the Sprint store because of the buy back thing. Long story short, you have to had to bought into the BB buy back program, whereas Sprint was buying OG EVO's for $150, no questons asked.
So here was my problem:
I went into the BB store this morning to get my phone @ 8am. (I was #2 on the list!) So, the rep pulls out my phone(at which time I'm like a kid at Christmas!), proceeded with the paperwork. Then goes to the computer to pull my information, calls over a manager, who says to me,
"Sir, are you part of Sprint's Premiere program?"
Me: "Huh?"
Him: "Apparently you're trying to do an early upgrade and we don't do early upgrades."
Me: "Whyin the hell wasn't I told this at the time of me pre-ordering?"
Him: "I don't know, but they should have checked to see if you were eligible. You'll have to pay to full retail price for the phone....wait, let us see if one of our other locations do early upgrades........they do for $399."
Me: "Oh nawl. Gimme my money back please. I'm going across the street to the Sprint store."
So, they refunded my gift card, I went across the street @ around 8:30, waslked in the lively Sprint store and was greeted by the prettiest woman I have seen with "We have the EVO 3D! Wanna get one today?" I said, "Yes, only because of you." I walked out of there with OG EVO, walked out with E3D for the same $50 I used on my pre with BB. All in less than 30 minutes!

Not even sure what you mean by early upgrade? As long as your upgrade shows up on your account then that is what you are eligible for. It doesn't matter if it was early or not......

[GUIDE] 30 day return..NO!! 90 days!!

So here is the deal, I just want everyone to know this because I see it a lot! You have more than 30 days to return your phone, well it works out that way! This is the way it works, and you can verify this with Sprint:
You can return your phone on the 29th day and get the exact same phone, or whatever one you want, you can do this 3 times total! ( I want to clarify this, when you get your phone is 1 time, first exchange is second time, and final exchange would be third time.)
So you can try out the Photon for 30 days, exchange it for the exact same one, or something different? Say you want to try out the SGS2, ok so your 29th day just happens to fall a few days after it releases. Cool, take your Photon in, tell them your not sure if you like it or not, but your wanting to try out the SGS2. Try that one out for 29 days and hey if you like it, keep it or exhange it out for a new one maybe you might have dropped it. Or hey you do like the Photon better, well there you go, get a brand new Photon and welcome back! That would be your last exchange, but it reset your 30 days!
This is real, this is not a scam this can be verified by Sprint, it does help getting a cool guy at the Sprint store, but even so, they have to do it, period!
I just want people to know this, because maybe you do want to give the next best thing a try, so go ahead, get the phone you WANT, not the one your stuck with!
I did this with the Evo3d so I could wait for the Photon release. I know it works first hand, and I have called Sprint just to verify that it works for EVERYONE!
Hope this helps some of you guys and is not too confusing!

There was not a restocking fee for me at anytime. Unless the Sprint rep is a *oo**(not nice guy) then I wouldn't think there would be. Like I said, helps if you friendly up with the Sprint rep of your choice.

YMMV but if they wanna charge me the restocking fee, I might call CS.

Not to rain on your parade here, but in many stores, such my current and all previous retailer chains I've worked for, we limit you to one buyer's remorse swap. It's the fault of the customer for not researching more indepth before purchasing a device, but we understand mistakes happen. As such, you may swap models one time within your first 30 day window. Malfunctioning devices we will swap into the same model for, but that's it. You can go extending your 30 day's all you want, but it is up to the retailer, not Sprint, on how we handle the sale of our merchandise. We are only required to give you one buyer's remorse swap. It is way too costly for our companies to go RMA'ing two-three phones per customer just because you feel like it.
As such, this is not a guide, this is just a way to manipulate the system and piss off sales reps, likely resulting in you not getting service at the store you do this to. No one likes a tool.

It doesn't matter what YOU and your other reps do, by Sprints law, it is completely doable and if a customer requests it, it has to be done. Whether or not you're that (not so nice guy) that we have to go above and beyond is up to you. Like I said, we avoid people like you and talk to the nice reps.
Obviously I don't mean just go in there looking for this, I just meant if you were indecisive about a couple of phones, this is a way you could give them both a try. It's not that I want every Tom, **** and Harry to start doing this every time they upgrade, I just wanted to make people aware of Sprints rules.
Edit: Also, this is where I would make sure I had a rep that would do this for me before I even bought from your store. There are ways to cover your ass.

I would hope this is what you would do, this is not at all how I meant it. I am not trying to have people go piss off reps, once again I am just giving information on the laws and limits of Sprint. I am not condoning a mass phone return from all of Sprints customers.
For instance, if I had just got my Photon, and then the SGS2 came out and I wanted to give that one a fair shot, this is something I would use that for, as I thought I explained that quite well. My bad.

I would like to reiterate that M&P specifically states that 30 day exchange/returns go off the inital purchase/activation date. Any corporate store will be able to search this in RSP and find the information.
If you visit an authorized dealer you may find some different results.

"Nice reps" huh? Funny enough that I've been recognized at the district level every month for top customer satisfaction scores on both phone repair and sales. I just don't let people like you walk all over reps and manipulate the system, which forces Sprint to tighten their reins and make it more difficult on the honest customers. You can't argue policy with someone who has to enforce it daily, resetting your 30 days is a manipulation of an extended courtesy option given originally only by retention to solve major customer satisfaction issues. It's not for every joe-schmo to take advantage of.

You can spout off at me as much as you want bro, the fact is, is it's completely legal. Be mad, go cry to your manager I don't care, the guy I go through at Sprint doesn't have one bit of a problem with it. It's completely legal.
And guess what else, because the guy at my Sprint store did this, I have brought him over 60 people from competitors. Just think, if you weren't so anal, you might have got someone just as bad as me that walks all over reps and gives them as much commission as he could ever get from just one terrible guy like me.
Who gets to vote for you? I think they were rigged! Lol Chill dude, it's not a bad thing. You don't even know me, I bet we'd get along just fine, and I bet you would have hooked me up the same way if it was your store. You know why? Cuz we both have this in common! This being xda.

Whats wrong with a paying customer trying out the merchandise before he commits to such a large purchase? How can we research a product that just came out and truly get an unbiased opinion? Buyers remorse or not, these manufactures always tell you the pro's to their products and never the cons. I've gone through 3 phones to finally get the one that works good for me. I'm not manipulating the system, just trying to exercise my right as a consumer. A small price to pay for a multi-billion dollar company that should adopt a "spare no expense" type mentality against this economy and its competitors.

That's all fine and well if you want to do your business at corporate, but many of us aren't Sprint for the most part. We sell and represent Sprint, sure, but that's it. Our company assets are extremely finite and exchanging massive amounts of product for customers would not only cost us a substantial amount but it would also risk us losing our right to sell Sprint. Sprint and the manufacturers impose a set maximum number of product that we may return to them via RMA, and every exchange results in an RMA. This number is surprisingly small, and we get charged back for every item that we have to return. Justify your exchanges as you will, but I hold nothing against we third party retailers for denying you anything beyond one exchange. If we order 50 phones in a shipment, and 10 customers exchange their phone twice under buyer's remorse, that's 20 phones we're sending back, 10 sold, and 20 remaining for other customers. So out of 50 phones we purchased, we're only getting paid for 30 of them.

I see what you mean there, but it was that third party store that should have read the fine print pertaining to sprints rules to the customer. So next time order more phones! Jk. But I mean said store should know about how Sprint works, shouldn't they?
And by the way the one I go to is a third party store.

This is why I've explained and as [email protected] has said, the 30 day reset isn't a policy. It's a customer courtesy option. Your contract and our M&P both state that the customer has a 30 day satisfaction guarantee in which they may exchange under buyer's remorse or for manufacturer's defects. Being third party we do a lot of things to bend rules for customers but we avoid the ones that can put us out of business. Sprint doesn't like to pay any of us as it is, we all work for minimum wage at my store and average $400 commission per month with no overtime and no holiday pay. I'd say the amount we do for customers versus what corporate reps do, especially considering the difference in pay (our average W2's are about 15,000/year after taxes, corporate sales get roughly 35,000/year after taxes) is pretty dramatic. You can't blame us for protecting our companies.

I don't mean to sound stupid, but when you say 3rd party store, do you mean like a Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc? I totally understand how this would hurt you, on the other hand I also agree that if Sprint has this, they do. Is it possible that if a customer came into your store (having already exchanged once) that you could redirect them to a corporate Sprint store? I'm not sure how it works. I know I originally bought the Photon at a Sprint store, took it back (it started having probs right after the 1st OTA), the db at the store charged me the $35 restock fee, didn't even bother to turn my old phone back on (I had to call in and have it reactivated), and I was gonna wait and get the GS II, but after the announcement I got another Photon (this time from BB, and saved $100 in the process).

lol thanks
wanna know what i make?
i have a bachelors degree and a masters degree, and i sell phones at an indirect store.
i make god damn 7.50 an hour with ****ty commission of like 8% on 1-3 new activations, if i hit 4-8, i'm at 12%, and then it goes on.
it's not good money; then again, i don't have ridiculous quotas to meet like corporate employees do (from what i hear) so i'm content. i graduated in may, applied to 20+ government jobs, didn't get a single one, and then nobody else was hiring, so i took this job...it juts randomly fell into my lap one day. most of the reason is because i agreed to do pay+commission, because i don't want the uncertainty of 100% commission...yeah, i'll end up getting like 50% and **** on phones, buuuuut we are a small store that isn't that high traffic of an area, so i NEED that guarenteed pay weekly to know i have money to pay stuff off. this months been my best month since AUGUST, and thats 4 months ago...so far, i've worked 6 days in december, and i've already sold 11 phones, and have 3 new activations. that's REALLY damn good for me, and i have a feeling this month is gonna be better than summer (and summer is crazy because i live on the jersey shore here, and our store is where all the douchebags and bennys come down near in the summer, so they always drop their phones in water because they're morons so we bank in the summer)
but yeah, i make garbage and i'm very bitter about it
lol especially when i've got well over 40 grand left in student loan debt to repay starting this month

I went to verizon store and the manager offered me a job but I had to move to norhtern california. I was actually talking to one of the employees and he brought his manager out to talk to me. He said he could get me in. I told him about all the pressure we are in constantly about signing poeple up for frys cards and forcing use to get warranties and stuff. The guy there told me that they have sales quotas but they don't force them to treat their customers unfair. They all looked pretty damn happy working there, plus they are always fricking busy with customers.
I am trying to get in to management at frys just so I can have a title under my name and get the **** out of there and go elsewhere. I dont even get treated unfair but some people get treated so bad that I am tired of seeing it. ****ers made us work overtime on blackfriday, and we worked from 11:30PM thursday night to 7:30pm at night friday and we all got only 2 hours of overtime.

Heh.. I have a Bachelors in Computer Science but then decided I didn't want to sit in front of a PC all day. I'm currently a limo driver($12/hour + tips.) but the hours are whack. I just have a ghetto Astro van I got for $3000 & a sound system in it that cost almost as much.

Your union. Kroger doesn't have a choice.
I currently work for Time Warner Cable as a phone rep at 13.87 an hour + 5% commission on any service I sell. You call in wanting pay per view. 5% commission. Minimum 40 hours a week, and as much overtime as I want.
I drive a slightly modded 2011 mustang 5.0 that i have a loan on and still have a 2007 Toyota tundra that is fully paid off.

I work for a corporate VZW store and make pretty good money. Also to jayochs we aren't all "corporate store know-nothing douchebags" I tend to keep up on everything, hence why I'm on sites like this lol.(I was only interested in the job because I like phones lol)
That said, VZW takes very good care of their employees, from entry level up. Benefits from day 1, great health care, 2 weeks paid vacation first year, not to mention good money.

I think he's talking about Fry's Electronics and not the grocery store. Unless Kroger owns them too? I have no idea ,
The value of a person's car is inversely proportional to the amount of money they make, at a certain point, then up to a certain point.
If it makes them feel better about their crappy jobs...so be it. I do agree though, smoking in that car is pure negligence.

I make a ****load of money doing nothing $1,200/month housing allowance from Post-9/11 GI Bill, $1,400/month VA disability, $350/month school stipend from the Reserves, I have 2 renters in my house that was given to me by my parents when I graduated high school, my renters pay me $400/each and I obviously have no rent. (Sorry, yea I am spoiled, but my dad is a millionaire, lol) I make a hell of a lot of $$ on my online ventures with a group of guys who I worked with in the Army. And, I work some side jobs when I have some free time, usually charge $15-$20/hour.
One of my renters is a Sprint Corporate employee and I know he makes bank. When he moved in he payed me his deposit + 6 months in advance.

What would you do...if you suspect someone stealing?

Ok.....heres the deal. About 3 weeks ago i saw a ad on craigslist about a epic touch for sale. I use Textplus App when I text someone on Craigslist...but anyways, i texted the person to inquire about the phone.. He said he was a manager at the Sprint Kiosk in the mall down the street from my job. He said that he was selling the phone for $500. I was like, thats full price. So I declined and took my business elsewhere.
About a week later i see an add in Craigslist from the same person, this time selling a iphone 4. I use my sister's phone to send the guy a text about the iphone 4. Again he says its brand new and still in its wrappings and he's selling it for $400. I passed again...
So last Friday, i see another ad on Craigslist for a Epic Touch, brand new and sealed. I make contact with the person, via regular text. Its the same person as before. He tells me that he's selling the Touch for $500 or willing to trade it for a good computer.
I offered him a laptop or two phones. He accepted the offer but after a couple hours, i contacted him to let him know i had to think about it.
Yesterday he texted me and now says he has a brand new Iphone 4s, wrapped and seal and that he can get me any color i want. He told me he'll sale it to me for $650 or my laptop, one of my phones plus $150...i said, hell no. Thats too much to give away. I then tried to call his bluff. I told him to text me a copy of the receipt showing he paid $650+ for the phone. He said that he didnt have a receipt and that it was a direct ship to his job (the sprint kiosk). He said that the order receipt doesnt have his name nor a price on it. I then told him that i noticed that he was selling a new phone almost every week and selling them for full retail. He claimed that he has a family plan and that since he's a sprint employee, he gets phones for the 2 year price.
My guess is that he's stealing the phones and then selling them. I find it strange that someone has a different high end phone every week and brand new at that.
What do you all guess?

I'd say if your worried about it then make a call to Sprint and report what info you have. Then it will be up to them to look into it. If they don't, you did your part and Sprint can only blame themselves.
if it's a corporate kiosk he could get fired for that whether he bought them legitimately or not. our employment agreement says we can't sell phones at all as it's a conflict of interest since you would be competing with the company you work for. most of the kiosks that are left are 3rd party but i'm sure they have a similar agreement

if youre going to accuse someone of stealing you better be sure they are. it sounds like you do not have any real evidence to prove that he is.
Still sounds fishy.
I would give what info I had, the links on craigslist, and let Sprint or the 3rd party store take care of it themselves. Let them do the investigating.

I'm basically just going off of speculation and assumption. But all in all, it just doesn't sound right....selling high end phones every week, brand new, can't produce a receipt...then says it was a direct order to his job....(the spirit kiosk)....sounds fishy..

I would still call Sprint and have them transfer you to the right department and have them investigate, try HR - Human Resources. BE SURE TO CALL AND HAVE THEM INVESTIGATE!!! Ask if they can call you back and let you know what the story is. Good luck!!! Make sure to call, because this will make prices go up if he is stealing!!!
What do you mean prices will go up?

If I had no proof nor proof of harm being done to anyone....... I would move on, mind my own business and worry about whats going on in my own back yard!
If you were getting those phones much cheaper from him, I am sure this thread wouldn't exist right now.
What about I fly to Wisconson and go to the store with you? I bet you get a free Photon. I'm 5'8" and only 145Lbs, Piss me off and I will clear a bar!!! (Seriously, I did not have a Sprint bill for like 5 months. I gave them he**)

First off bro, don't mean sound rude or anything cause that ain't me...but if something doesn't seem right to a person, they normally stay away...no matter how good the deal may be. I definitely don't need the police knocking at my door saying I received stolen property or sprint contacting me telling me the phone I have was stolen....
Also, remember he texted me this past time about the iphone...I didn't contact him. In addition, I don't think i NEED cold hard evidence...this isn't "The Peoples Court"...lol. But I do feel that maybe Sprint or whomever should look into the matter...

I'm going to be honest here. I used to work for tmo in the past and I sold phones on Craigslist, **** ton of them. I was the #1 rep in my district for a very long time and I had new devices falling out of my ass lol. I won so many phones from HTC, moto, Nokia, Samsung, blackberry etc I didn't know what to do with them. Before tmo changed up everything I think I won 2 or 3 phones a month. They said we couldn't sell them but what the hell else were I supposed to do with all these smartphones? Was I wrong? probably. Did I care? Ehh not really I was young and just saw this $_$. The moral of the story is either hes winning them in contest/drawings or has stealing them and others are in on it. I wouldn't get involved though let sprint etc catch em!

Too Good to be True... but What is the Scam?

There's a guy who is supposedly from a store here in Los Angeles who says he can sell me a new Rezound for $100 even if I'm not eligible for an upgrade yet. I've looked up the store and it exists, I've seen the pics, he said I could go there and I've seen something that says the store has been in business for 22 years or something like that.
Now I saw his listing on Craig's List. I emailed him. His email back had bad grammar and spelling and didn't come across as very professional.
Yes there new. We are a private company for verizon business department so when you upgrade through our sytems you get to keep unlimited data because we offer it if you where not a Verizon grandfathered customer. We can do early upgrades because when you tranfer over to us youe number automatically because eligible by terms and conditions.

So... what can the scam or the risk be? I'm under contract, bought the phone from Amazon end of last November. What can happen to me? Get slammed with early termination of contract? How would this place stay in business if they do this sort of thing?
I just tried my last hope of reviving my phone and it didn't work, so I need to get another one soon. Been without for 2-3 weeks already. ouchie.

He's going to scam you into getting into a long term contract with added fee's to make up the difference in selling the phone for so cheap..
Stay Away!!!

It sounds an awful lot like they are selling other contracts somehow. As in you are getting another account that is unlimited data... Or the IMEI on the handset is bad, and if that gets reported you have a brick, if the cops cone asking you about it... Well it happened to me with a computer repair job.
Phones can be cloned too. That happens. They're hacked, can become black listed etc.
Read this
www.scambusters.org/cellphone.html
The mac books were traced to me, and I helped the cops and all was good for me, but scary when they ask HOW you got the device and ask "didn't that seem too good to be true?? Are you dumb?"
Don't do it.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is 99% of the time a scam.
Common sense 101.. If it's too good to be true it probably is.
Dont do it..reconsider.
When I had Sprint they would call me twice a month with deals to upgrade my phone early, only catch was you had to sign up for another line of service. They wouldn't tell you that till they actually started doing the upgrade.
I'd say go investigate it personally. If it looks good, doesn't require another contract, and the ESN is good (call a VZW store to confirm), then maybe you win. You can always walk away.

Yeah, that's what I figure I'll do. Seems that what might happen is my current contract is violated and I would have to pay early termination which would then make it more expensive than just buying a phone.
And I was almost talked down from the ledge...
I'm also going to see if I can strong arm Verizon into giving me a phone under warranty. It's worked for me before with Sprint, although my contract was up and so I could go get another phone free starting an new one with another provider. This time I'm still under contract. Worth a shot though. Trying to decide if it's best to do that with a call or in store.

yet they scam customers by releasing minuscule updates on their phones as a brand new product to force their moronic customers into buying the next one. so again, they're a company that scams morons and is still in business.
the only reason they have the "best marketing of any company ever" (which i won't even go there, because it's simply good marketing in this idiotic country) is because americans are sheep, juvenile and just plain ignorant when it comes to most things.
