[Q] Some questions about CSC - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello xda-developers this it my first post, but it will be more and I will try to help you.
I have a SGS2, bought from Romania, but the CSC code is "XEF" which probably means that it was imported form France. Now I want to change my CSC in "HAT" or "COA" according to my country but I don't want to lose my warranty.
1) There is any method to do this?
2) If I will find the CSC files, flashing only this with Odin is possible and if yes I lose my warranty? I only flashed AIO or PDA,CSC,BOOT files in the mean time on my second phone,Samsung i5700, but never only one of those.
I tried with CSC Selector from Play and with Preconfig code, but my phone have no Multi-CSC, it have only "XEF".
My SGS2 informations:
PDA: I9100XWKJ2
PHONE: I9100XXKJ4
CSC I9100XEFKJ1
Thank you very much for your answers and sorry for my bad English

no need to change it unless you need something specific in that csc.

I want to upgrade to ICS via Kies, but in Romania the update exists and in France it doesn't... That's why I want this

Just flash XWLP8 Frankenstein with Odin. Kies is a complete piece of crap. Uninstall it right now and just leave the samsung usb drivers.
The aforementioned package already includes everything you need... and it's official... and it's newer than the package you are planning to flash ; )

@bala_gamer: I will look forward CSC files and just flash them with Odin... But is it possibile? My device is not rooted...
@victorator: Doing this I will lose my warranty...Am I right?
Thanks a lot for the answers

Go into settings->about phone and write down what you have now.
Worst case IF you ever really need to get warranty just flash this package...
End of story. The link I gave you gives you the newest official ICS rom, non-rooted. It doesn't increase the custom binary counter (that's how they check if you messed with your phone) and it is official. Just flash it.

Ok, I didn't know that I can put the phone into download mode and flash a new firmware without increase the counter, thx

The only thing that increases the counter is flashing specifically a kernel via Odin that is not signed by Samsung.
This is why flashing some ROMs won't necessarily increase the counter: If you flash a ROM that includes a kernel that is signed by Samsung, it will keep the counter at zero.

Should be fine. But the link isn't broken, per se. Just right-click it, and "save link as". That will save the .7z file to wherever you want.

That kernel is posted just in case you need it, if you flash a custom or insecure kernel, and want to flash back to stock. If you don't flash a custom of insecure kernel, you won't need it. Wouldn't hurt you to download it anyways though, again, just in case you need it later.

When you go into Download mode, it will display a count if you have ever flashed a non-Samsung signed kernel. If you have never done so, it will not display a count at all.

You'll have to install CWM recovery to do this... which means flashing a kernel NOT signed by Samsung, which means increasing your counter.

Yeah you can just head to this thread

You can do it if you're not rooted and I'm not sure about your warranty but I think i this doesn't do anything to it, not sure though. To make sure everything is ok you could use a usb jig to reset the binary counter to 0

Users are pretty consistently reporting improved battery, better sound, speed.
I'm one of those. I'd say yes, do the upgrade, if any of those sound interesting to you. You could always flash back to another version if you don't like it.

Is the frankenstein version the same, I cant see any difference?
Anything I should notice?
Glad you got it!!! (Did it work the way I hoped?)
You probably wont notice any visual changes as such.
Remember, you installed a no wipe version so you will still have the same theme (If you applied any), or wiill still look "Stock".
Changes, if any, maybe more on performance. Keep an eye on battery usage and maybe just general speed of the device.

I normally flash roms at 100% to avoid throwing off the battery calibration. Give it some time, drain the phone and charge it back to 100. It will slow down unless the reason is due to a rogue app.

[Q] Reset binary counter for I9100G?

I've a GT-I9100G with 3e recovery. Tried the old bootloader from Intratech's thread. But Odin failed (see image). I got it working by flashing the stock bootloader.
So here I assume old bootloader isn't compatible with I9100G, right? I've searched but everyone is pointing to the same bootloader used for I9100. While none of the G's owners reported back their success (or failure).
Any other ideas on how downgrade to be able to reset counter with a jig?

An i9100 is not a i9100G and they have different firmwares so the bootloader is also different. You could try and reflash an older firmware until there is and older flashable bootloader.Although once the new bootloader is set i dont know if its changable. If you know what older firmware you need I could look for it.
yea figured that pretty much. However the phone came loaded with the mentioned firmware. I tried to figure which firmware was compatible with it but no luck.
Any idea, resource or list one could look into? and how much old of firmware should one try to get the 2e recovery? I read somewhere that 3e was introduced on Android v2.2
Thanks cooza. I hope someone could point me to the right direction on this one.

its quite possible that the G-series being released after the i9100 international came with the new bootloader pre-installed from the factory and that will be why its so hard to find a solution.I can only guess that in time with new firmwares someone will be able to find a way to make the old i9100 bootloader compatable with the newer series phones like the G,M and T galaxies and hopefully it will be Odin flashable to help other owners out.
Pls help

after that just flash any rom and i can use USB Jig to reset the counter..

It is the bootloader from firmware DZKJ2.

Ok, so you need the BUKJ3 stock kernel. Unfortunately, the only place that I knew of off the top of my head to download it is Intratech's carrier branded firmware thread, and all the links for it are on multiupload... which was shut down by the DOJ.
I'll hunt around a bit for it, but google (which is what I'll be using) is your friend.
cheers buddy i will try google then and see what happens

So I've not had much luck... I tried finding the full firmware to see if I could strip out just the kernel, but all the full firmware downloads for BUKJ3 I've found only unzip to an md5 file, which I don't know how to strip out the zImage file from.
You could post in Intratech's carrier branded firmware thread to see if he (Intratech) still has the stock kernel for BUKJ3 somewhere, and if he can re-upload it to a file server that is still in service.
Alternatively, you could just order a USB jig to get rid of the triangle. This will also reset your non-Samsung kernel flash counter back to zero.

Have rooted S2 with custom ROM. Want to go stock.

Hi all,
I am selling my S2, and would like to a) get rid of the triangle, and b) go back to a stock rom. Is this a simple process, and maybe there's a guide?
I am downloading I9100XWLPW_I9100XSALP6_XSA.zip | 695.6 MB – is that an OK file?
I am also downloading GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XEUPL5.7z
Which would be better?
I'm in Australia, but it was a UK sourced, unlocked phone to begin with.
extract and flash using Odin 1900XWLP7 rom to go back to stock and then use trianle away which could be found in this forum to reset the counter.
after flashing and using triangle away, do not forget to go recovery and wipe the cache, go to advance and wipe daavik cache and do a factory reset to remove all personal information and apps.

Will grab.

What is a enc2 extension?
Isn't it tar?

If you have flashed an unbranded stock firmware could you explain the steps you took to flash it like what file you used and a detailed step by step?

[Q] The easiest way to flash stock

Hi all,
I want to be sure here for obvious reasons, i had a rooted s3 with custom rom/firmware, which i then used triangle, went back to stock and unrooted. However the firmware i installed isnt what i wanted, i read that the firmware with xx in it was for uk use but it seems to be primarily for israil as it has jewish as its default language and a jewish calender installed as default. So i have now downloaded which i hope is a tmobile uk firmware 19300xxella_i9300t from sammy. will i need to root again then install this with odin then reset counter then unroot and will this download cover the rom and firmware as im never to sure the firmware (screen entered when holding volume up, power button and middle button is now official stock. but not sure if this will allow me to install the official?
is theis file 19300xxella_i9300t the rom or firmware im now confused
You dont have to root to flash stock rom. You might need to reset your S3 though..

Just download the stock rom that you want (e.g. from sammobile.com) and flash it via Odin. Afterwards do a factory reset and you should be good to go. No root required.
Follow the flashing via Odin section of the guide

Firmware means the full firmware and operating system and modem.
Rom is just a word used to describe a firmware file .
Stock rom stock firmware the same .

Thanks for clearing that up. I think where ive read on various websites and forums these terms used incorrectly it threw me out. Thanks for clarifying that.
