[Touch Recovery][Abandoned]TWRP 2.2.0 for Rezound 7/12/2012 UPDATE - HTC Rezound

EDIT: Flyhalf has taken over development for the Rezound. Please visit his thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1902381
I have successfully ported TWRP Recovery to the Rezound. It is an unofficial port and all credit goes to teamwin.
Known Issues:
1) Can't copy things from computer over USB to the internal sd card. External card is fine and you can use the file manager to copy it over if you want.
Installation:
1. Download the version for your firmware version NOT ROM VERSION
2. Flash the zip via PH98IMG.zip. If you want to flash via fastboot, use the command "fastboot flash recovery nameoffile.img" if and pull the recovery.img out of the PH98IMG.zip

Note: I have sold my Rezound. However, that does not mean this won't be updated.

Wow, talk about timing lol.. I was just sitting in hboot contemplating RUUing in attempt to fix my amon ra recovery issues. Flashing and seeing if this fixes them. I don't even use internal anymore since I haven't been able to flash anything in it and it seems to get wiped alot Well, it is definately backup up so that is fixed ! now just need to see if it will mount external and I am happy as a clam ! Thank you very much Con !

Con is deff on a roll good job man thanks
Sent from my S-OFF Rezound

Nice damn job dude. Not going to use this yet, but a Thanks for the work!

I am testing a full wipe->rom install to double check it. I haven't found any issues except the internal SD so far.

Nice job on this Con!

i assume amon backups will not work with this?

I have Twrp 2.1 on my TBOLT. Uncompressed nand backups works, but if you backup using TWRP and compress, you cannot use nand to restore. Pretty simple process and works great. Wouldn't have posted this earlier but TWRP team hadn't said if it would work for Rezound yet. No e-mail from Dev team. Guess Con got his email back first.
Note: That is working on GB. No idea about ICS.

Lol, should have read a little closer.. yes this does not work on the new firmware yet I was just stoked trying to fix my amon ra issues I glossed over the big red lettering lol.. Still works except for as you noted mounting internal and no it doesn't mount the new firmware properly to flash new roms.
Thanks again Con.. really looking forward to the new firmware version

This will work fine for new firmware, the internal SD won't mount though which doesn't work anyway.

nevermind.

Well, when I tried to flash a rom on the new firmware , it wiped just fine but when the installer tried to install the rom it said E:\ can't mount SD card and errored out .

nice job con!

Stock GB - Rooted - S-Off
Just loaded this and did a backup (Amon-Ra would NOT backup)... worked fine backing up.
Note that the backup went to the /sdcard not /sdcard2 which I think is normal right?
CORRECTION: It said it was going to /sdcard but it actually ended up on /sdcard2
Tried taking a capture of the screen using ddms but it came out scrambled.
Never played around with the leak.

Awesome work con247!

[WIP] ClockworkMod Recovery - FreeXperia

Hi,
here comes Recovery for Play of Team FreeXperia.
Download here: (Beta1 - Update 20.06.2011 - 18:28h GMT+1)
http://www.multiupload.com/VC3JRZ74H0
Broken:
Cannot backup&restore boot partition (kernel related)
To test use this command:
fastboot boot recoveryPLAY.img
Button mapping: (thanks Logseman)
Back- Back
Home/Vol UP - Up
Menu/Vol DOWN - Down
Search - OK
Please DO NOT FLASH! This recovery is designed to work just as recovery, if you flash it to your device it will NOT boot system anymore!
Please test and report functions. If there are errors please include EXACT outpot of errormessage.
Thanks to Blagus for his Xperia Play Kernel!
To gain root on every ROM (Stock ones too) just flash the attached RootXperia.zip via Recovery
Regards
Bin4ry & Team FreeXperia
I assume we need to install the custom kernel first?
No! You have NOT to install custom kernel to use this.
Just issue the command i wrote on your windows console. Then phone boots into recovery!

The recovery image is structured exatcly as boot.img, with the difference in executable files - regular boot.img boots Android system from /system partition, while recovery boots into... well, recovery
So, since it's structured just as boot.img, you have to pack kernel inside as well. That's where, in this case mine, zImage comes in handy instead of unpacking SE's special boot.img structure, it was easier to take zImage from standard boot.img.
ive just tried it now, boots into CWM fine, im going to try a nandroid and report back
It looks weird in this DDMS capture, but in the phone it looks all right (black background, orange text). I've had no error messages of any kind.

This capture looks funny
But important is how it looks on device. I doubt that ddms cannot capture 32bit framebuffers

Ok, i did a nandroid, rebooted, booted back into bootloader and fastboot erased /system/, pushed the recovery back and tried to restore /system/ but i get the error " Error formatting system " i also get the same error in the mounts & storage menu can i flash the nandroid image from fastboot?
*edit* no it wont let me flash it from fastboot, it tells me the image is too large lol probably because i moved some widgets and lwp's to /system/, no worries i'll flash the image in the development section.
Recovery booted fine, did a nandroid backup worked fine, not sure i want to follow suit and delete a load of stuff and try restore. will wait to see what androhero and bin4ry can figure out first with andro's issue

try and clear cache, see if you get the same error? if the action works it wont matter if cache gets formatted
I hope you can help me figure this out, because right now I am astonished at least.
I've been poking around with ClockworkMod, and getting a couple of errors. I know there is an error reporting utility inside CWM, "Report Error" in "advanced" so I made use of it. However, the log would save to "/sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log".
Since I'm using the custom kernel, I'm not able to use the sdcard as it seems to be improperly mounted. It shows as mounted in CWM, I unmounted it and remounted it again to no avail... though it can be mounted on the computer properly.
However, that's not the point. I thought I'd do a search on "recovery" with Root Explorer, wanting to find the Recovery.log somewhere else. And boy, did I find it. I found the two recovery logs I saved inside the folder /data/system/dropbox . I happen to have DB installed in my Android. But not only that, I found my kmsg logs, and boot logs, registered there as well.
Hereby I attach the two recovery logs. Does it make sense that these kinds of logs are saved in such a folder? Am I worrying unnecessarily?
this is one of the reaons why google take root access off us in the first place isnt it?
Thanks for the logs.Dunno why they was stored in DB folder
@AndroHero:
Yes just restore the img files from backup via fastboot flash.

just put it in the same folder as fastboot.exe
When backing up the progress bar doesn't work and it can take some minutes, so just be patient when doing a back-up.
Are their any specific options you like us to play with?

okay so i formatted the cache and it comes back
Cach wipe complete.
E:Can't Mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't Open /cache/recovery/log
E:Cant mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Cant Open /cache/recovery/last_log
it wiped cache ok but is this error something i need to be worried about in away before attempt wipe and restore of system with my nandroid?
Do not bother trying to restore a nandroid backup: the /system partition won't get formatted and the operation will be cancelled.
The back-up made a cache.img, data.img, system.img and a .android_secure.img
I assume I can flash the system.img with fastboot like I used to do when rooting through fastboot? Could safe me the bloatware removal trouble after I get into a bootloop (yet again ).

Here you go, guys. There are 2 versions of this ROM, odex and deodex. This is a STOCK ROM, the only changes being:
Rooted (su located in /system/bin)
Busybox
Everything else is left stock! I encourage any developers to use this as a base, I have no issues whatsoever with that, just please credit me if you do use it
Requirements
HTCdev Unlock (Choose "All Other Supported Models" and follow all the directions, including driver install)
Custom recovery - I would recommend TWRP since it doesn't have the /misc issue anymore
How to flash
Download your choice of ROM below and place on your internal_sdcard or sdcard (doesn't matter, just remember where you put it!)
Go into Settings > Power > Fast Boot and uncheck that.
Turn the phone off. Once off, press and hold the Volume Down + Power Button until you reach the white bootloader screen
Choose "RECOVERY" (volume down and up to move, power to select)
You SHOULD make a backup by tapping on the "Backup" button. You are not required, but I would recommend it.
You also SHOULD manually wipe cache, dalvik-cache, and factory reset (wipe /data). This can be done by tapping on the "Wipe" button. Choose those 3 options (and even system if you want, even though the install script does that for you)
Choose "Install" and locate the ROM wherever you put it. NOTE: If you don't see it, make sure that either internal_sdcard or sdcard is mounted. This can be done via the "Mount" button at the main menu of TWRP. Be sure that either internal_sdcard or sdcard is checked!
Wait until the install is finished and then tap "Reboot to System"

Yeah, it's kind of weird.
Disk drive - mounts sdcard
media sync - mounts sdcard as card and internal storage as phone
file system sees them as microsd= /sdcard2 and internal storage= /sdcard
And internal storage also has an ext_sd which seems to be a replicated microsd?
I dunno, I'm tired.

Yes, there was an official release, but that's 5.8.0.2. This one is unofficial 6.0.0.0. Koush says it speeds up backup/restore times by 4/5%. He has implemented some new features, like incremental backups, and so on.. In this release USB mass storage is working, whereas in 5.8.0.2 is not.

Are you sure nandroid backup is not working it skips backup of system files and just makes a small backup of about 20 Meg or so the bulk of the stuff should go in the blob folder it a feature of incemetle backup.
To restore a backup you install the main ROM again
At least that's how it works on the nexus 7

No, it's not done that way. Download the Android SDK, then open the SDK Manager and get the SDK tools(or however they are called). Then open cmd and navigate to the platform-tools folder, which is located in the Android SDK folder, and execute the given command.

As you may or may not be aware, I have been working on get CWM Recovery working on the Gen9's and basically make the layout of the Filesystems etc reflect some sort of Android Standard, In SDE mode at least. This is coming along nicely and I should be ready to kick out a Early Beta in the Next Couple of Weeks.
I would like to gather some input on any additional options people who like to see in CWM, Basically CWM Recovery Comes with a standard set of features but they maybe options that you have found useful on Device's you have had in the past etc.
I already plan to make it possible to boot into all modes on the device, that Archos Recovery, Archos Android, SDE Android and SDE CWM Recovery.
So Yeah, Give me Ideas and I'll seen If I can accomadate them
NOTE: Obviously We are just getting started on this and alternative recoveries will come in time, TWRP for example but one thing at a time eh :good:
Okay, Here's a currently "wishlist" of feature I think would be quite useful
Archos Specific Features
Include Stock Repair and Recovery Options
Include Stock Developer Edition Options
Reboot to Stock Recovery Option as a Fail Safe.
Reboot Stock Android
Flash Archos aos update
Upgrade Existing SDE Images to new structure
An the list goes on.....
Print system Properties
Print dmesg
Resize Partitions
Manage FS Image Location ( mainly nice to have on HDD Version I suppose )
Backup to Sparse Image ( I'm sure CWM5 Nandroid did this with ext4 partitions, god knows why they changed to a default choice between tar archives or dup differential blobs, What If I just a single portable file for my data partition backup!! )
Start Fastboot support ( could be useful for flash images rather the 'ffing around with edify scripts and update zips )
Power Off ( Suprisingly not include by default )
Full Touch Support with on screen keyboard and command line
I think those features will do nicely but If anyone has anymore then get involved!
The nandroid backup interests me a lot... its always nice to be able to "return" to when it was working if anything breaks.
Im watching this thread with interest good luck!!
TrOjAn
Maybe an ability to mount the whole system through usb? So one could DD clone the whole memory chip to PC. That could recover some bricks.

Hi There,
I think, You've got your wires crossed None of this is related to letama CWM Recovery./ If you haven't already you may want to have a read of this thread in the development section I won't go into details here because It's all in there!
I well aware of how fastboot works but to supporting the fastboot protovol allows the same workflow when it come to work with the AOSP source as any over device. which is
Build Rom
Flash the Partitions with fastboot
Reboot Into Rom.
???
Profit
When you control both ends of the conversation, We are free to do as we please.

[ROM] [H918] H91810p Stock ROM TWRP Flashable Zip

with little to no activity lately for the LGV20, specifically the H918 T-Mobile variant I decided to look into creating a TWRP flashable package for the recent H91810p release. these zips flash every partition included in the latest KDZ package with the exception of recovery to keep TWRP. standard disclaimer applies, you do all of this at YOUR OWN risk! I've tested this on my device after backing up and so far so good on the latest 10p release. because 10p is not rootable, you need to be root'd before flashing this! failure to do so will probably cause you to lose root and/or lose TWRP! and worst of all, because 10p can't be downgraded, you're fscked!
NOTE: you can find the partitions that will be flashed in the updater-script. to be extra cautious you can back up all of the partitions that will be overwritten with the following: dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/{partition} of=/external_sd/backup/{partition}.img.
Instructions:
download H91810p.zip file listed below and put on microSD card
backup any data from internal "SD card"
boot into TWRP (requires TWRP recovery to already be installed)
create a TWRP backup of the device
flash zip from microSD card by using "Install"
flash your choice of root, either Magisk or SuperSU *Note: v12.0 of Magisk does not work with the LGV20 device in general and v13.3 is recommended. Flashing root is VERY IMPORTANT BEFORE REBOOTING!
reboot
profit!
Download:
H91810p.zip md5sum: 700d43b365eea134d2d1431b347a9323
Flashing Process:
flash necessary partition images with the exception of recovery (to keep TWRP) from the KDZ
rename /system/recovery-from-boot.p to /system/recovery-from-boot.bak to prevent stock recovery from being installed on boot
wipes dalvik-cache and cache
BIG thanks to @McNutnut on guidance, as well as his script to put all of this together!
also thanks to @bullghost for the KDZ extractor (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600575)
@Tilde88 for the original updater-script template w/root (https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/us996-nrd90m-modded-notsostock-rom-v5-1-t3526542)
and lastly thanks to @dudeawsome for the 10p KDZ!
@dimm0k Thanks for the mention and great work!

I hear you though... tough walking on thin ice, which is kind of what this would be... if you lose root for any reason, it could be game over. only reason I went ahead with it was because I have a second device for backup. hopefully the next release won't have anti-rollback
Does this overwrite the internal storage as part of the flash?

no, you can verify this within the updater script. it only flashes the partitions that affect the system's OS
Flashed and still rooted via Magisk. Only downside, bloatware is back. Anyone has a de-bloat list.

Big thanks to everyone that helped for this. I just want to show my appreciation because I know you guys don't have to do this for those of us (like me) that don't know how to do it for ourselves. Big thanks and thumbs up. [emoji106]

How's it running? Anything new? Any difference in performance?

Performance is about the same after the apps update and cache themselves. I'll have to check to see if the bugs in Bluetooth and second screen is fixed but that won't be until tomorrow when I start my day. Bedtime now. Be back later to update on things.

Can we just flash the zip then SU? Or do we have to change the recovery partition first?

what do you mean change the recovery partition first? you need TWRP already installed as your recovery BEFORE you can flash this. then be sure to flash SU after this before rebooting.

I am slightly confused by this part.....

The "Flashing Process" part only describes what goes on behind the curtains so to speak.
You must read the "Instructions" part

sorry, that was just an outline of the process from what flashing this zip would do...
Lol..... After reading it a few times, the lightbulb clicked. Thanks for all your hard work on this
So after testing all day while at work, 10P seems to have fixed Bluetooth, 2nd screen, and Wi-Fi issues I was having.
