Help Needed UN-Root Evo 3D - HTC EVO 3D

Ok So this weekend i got a EVO 3D new from some dude got a really good deal on it its clean esn and its for sprint, so what i noticed is that it is rooted not a big deal but the main issue i have here is i cant get rid of his EMAIL its the main email on the app market so i can even get into the market to down load anything.,
Its rooted by abd Hboot1.5 Relocked all ready ive tried un rooting it my self and i seem to have got it but on my cmd promt it says waiting for device and on the Ruu file is says cable not dected ive tried 4 different usb slots and 3 cables. i know its not the cable because it works when im using it to put songs and pictures on my phone...
If there is any way i can get rid of the email and keep the root that would be awsome if not i want to un root it.. any suggestions or advice?

You can just do a factory reset to reset his main Gmail username and password. However, if it's not connecting via a usb cable, it's likely he sold you a phone with a bad usb port.

Here is what I'd do, If your cool with it.
Here is what I'd do, If your cool with it:
1. Boot up into HBOOT. (Turn off phone, take out battery, put back in, then hold volume + power until a white screen comes up.)
2. Scroll down with the volume buttons to FACTORY RESET Then press the power button.
3. The phone should reset and you should come back to a clean phone. THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA ON THE PHONE
If you don't wish to do this, I have another method that will involve unlocking the boot loader (WIPES DATA) then flashing TWRP and wiping the data portion of the phone.
---------- Post added at 10:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:23 PM ----------
1. Go to Settings
2. Scroll down to accounts and sync.
3. Find the guy's gmail account.
4. Tap it and then tap remove.
It may give an error, but it is worth a try. Sorry for the overcomplicated old response... got a bit carried away.

Go into Settings and Accounts; you should be able to remove the Google Account there, which should remove his GMail. Other than that, removing all the data from the GMail app in Settings and Applications should do the trick too.

Man o Man let me tell you guys, when i said ive tried everything i have,
I ve done the factory reset and all his info is still there i called sprint and they gave me that ## number # and still nothing.
Ive added my email and tried removing his and cant because its says hi email is sync with some apps..

have you installed the adb and fastboot drivers?
if not install them and follow the steps
Turn on USB debugging from settings >applications > development..... then adb should detect your phone and you should be able to run RUU also......
or boot into bootloader , select fastboot , connect to pc , phone should say fastboot-usb , then run RUU.....
@sitlet
the op clearly states that he use his phone to copy data , so he has a working USB port.....

I think i might have got it Just waiting for the Ruu 2.17 to finish downloading now when i run CMDit found my device i had to install the Driver..

Okay, if you can't remove, do this:

[Q] Bricked after attempting to upgrade to 2.3.5... HELP PLEASE

Hello, I am a newbie Android user and I have been exploring the greatness of the OS for few days now.
Just now I tried to update my firmware to 2.3.5 and followed instruction from a non-xda developer site and little did I know, it messed up my phone big time.
While I was loading all the files (CSC, tar, modem, etc), and I should've known better when the site told me to check the "re partition" box, but I was stupid enough to go along with it.
So Odin got stuck at re-writing the modem or something like that and I had to pull out the battery from the phone.
Now the phone turns on only in recovery mode and none of the recovery choices work, if I choose one it just shows a little green android with white bordered triangle with an orange exclamation mark in the middle.
I can still access the download mode by using conventional button pressing method, but my phone is NO LONGER RECOGNIZED through the USB so I cannot flash the old stock firmware...
Is there a fix for this? If anyone can help me resolve this issue I am willing to compensate very well in return...
Thank you so much for reading my convoluted troubled story, and I really hope to find some resolution in your wisdom.
If u can't reflash your farmware
Than their is only one option left
give it to the Samsung service center they will repair your phone

I'd be down to do so but it will be hard as I have 4 custom binary flash counter... What can I do as of now?
i dont know if this helps you out buddy but maybe if you read in this thread you might find people that had the same trouble as you..just try and search the thread first and if nothing comes up try and read the first page maybe there you might get an idea on how to unbrick the phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Thank you.. But I unfortunately did not follow the instructions that is written there I used an external source which told me to check "re partition" which completely messed up the phone, I think. Thank you for your input, though.

Check this unbricker
android-roms.googlecode.com/files/DREAIMG-RC29.zip
Download DREAIMG-RC29.zip and unzip the file.
Reformat the SD card to FAT32 and copy the DREAIMG.nbh onto it.
Safely eject the SD card.
Put the SD card into your device.
Step 3: Wipe The Phone
Hold home and press the power button.
When you see the image of an ! mark, open your keyboard and press Alt + L if you cannot see any command options.
Do a factory reset by pressing Alt + W or just using the trackball.
When the reset is done, go ahead and hold the camera button and select the reboot system now option with your trackball.
Step 4: Flashing The Phone
Once the grey screen pops up (or the white screen if your phone was rooted with JesusFreke) it will ask you to hit a button to start installing the image…press that button. DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO STOP THIS PROCCESS. It will take about 8-12 minutes.
When the image has completed the installation (it will say completed), go ahead and press the green, red, and menu buttons at the same time. The phone will reboot.
And your done! Your phone is now unbricked!.
If this helps u buy me a HTC sensation.

Ah I see. Could you please help me understand what you mean by "open keyboard?" I just don't see how I could open keyboard on my SGS2 when it isn't recognized by my computer... If you could clarify what you mean by that it will be really appreciated!
So from your information provided, you have a stock recovery and your phone is semi-bricked. You can still boot and your computer won't recognize your phone.
Do you have a jig? What firmware did you flash? You could use a jig to reset the flash counter on the phone and return it for warranty saying that Kies messed up while upgrading firmware. If you've flashed the KI3 with the new bootloader then the jig won't be able to clear the flash counter.
EDIT: Maybe an experienced senior member might come and look at this thread and provide some other solution. Do wait!
EDIT2: Try reinstalling Kies and the drivers. Don't give up just yet!

I don't think that the guide he posted is particularly for galaxy s2 because he also mentioned a trackball...
but if you can go the settings he mentioned you might find something and lead you.
And if you decide to bring the phone to samsung you might want to have a read at Intratechs Official firmware
thread in (Original Android Development)there you can find a bootloader that you can flash so you can use the jig to reset the counter
edit: wow I also failed to read that your computer can't recognise your phone
anymore....
Have you tried to delete the samsung drivers when you go to
your hardware settings?? and let windows find it's drivers again?
Not sure if this will help. I read somewhere someone else with their PC not really recognizing the phone. Someone else advised to unplug the phone and remove the battery then connect to PC insert battery and put it into download mode.
I could be wrong with the method. Its just from my memory.
Also this may make no difference but maybe removing the sim and SD card. Someone will probably call me stupid for suggesting that though.
I wouldn't try that unbrick method mate. That looks like it is an unroot for an old phone..possible the G1 (AKA HTC Dream).
Thanks for all the help... I have been trying to uninstall the driver and reinstall it but no luck. If I could just get the phone to be recognized I think I will be fine, but I just don't know what to do
Thank you for all the suggestions, please keep them coming!
EDIT: this is the guide I used that messed up my phone.. http://androidflip.com/install-andr...-samsung-galaxy-s2-gt-i9100-installing-guide/
EDIT: Tried to reinstall KIES, no luck. It's like there's nothing on the other side of the USB cord... Not even a sound when I plug the phone in...
If it had been via XDA the instructions are do not do what they are saying .
In Odin Select Re-Partition , Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time
In Odin select these files
For PIT select u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit
BIG BIG NO to the above .
As usual some stuff ripped from XDA and some from elsewhere .
My suggestion would be one buy USB jig it hopefully will clear the rom counter and enter download mode .
two in recovery mode go to mounts and storage and format cache data dalvik system and sd card .
Clean phone with nothing on it .Flash stock firmware .

If PC does not now recognise phone either try another PC or return phone to service centre and say it failed on a Kies upgrade .

Thanks, I tried to do this but unfortunately the problem persists... What do you think the root of the problem is? I just dont' get it why it won't be recognized anymore.. I feel like I could easily get it to work if I could just get it to become recognized to flash stock firmware....
EDIT: JJE, I would turn it into the service place but I have custom rom count of 4 And I don't have any USB jigs to work with either.... I am still within the 15 days of the phone purchase day, would they be willing to swap my phone?
BUMP, any input would be appreciated...

Phone will not get past "Vibrant - Samsung" screen

Here is the problem:
My phone is stuck on the screen you see immediately after pressing the power button, which has a big "Vibrant" and a smaller "Samsung" both white on black. Whatever I do, it won't get past that.
Here is what happened:
- I had Eclair on it for a long while, and updated to Froyo via Kies, also a long while ago. Then, tired of bad performances, I followed a tutorial to install ICS on it. It worked fine for a month and I was very pleased of the newly gained performances. However this week, (while I was on vacation away from my computer and even internet in fact) it started giving me messages saying something about "Memory low, close some applications" (paraphrasing), even thought my memory indicator said that I was using around 160 MB, which should not be that bad. Then, after a couple of hours like that, applications started to crash (because of low memory I assume). I killed applications not that useful, but it did not change the message. Then, the core application also started to crash, whatever I did. I rebooted several times to get it to start fresh, but as soon as I booted, I got the low memory message and the core crashing. At one point, it would get stuck on the ICS 3D flying boot scene, and not past that.
- So, I rebooted in recovery mode and tried to see if I had an option to just restore part of the ROM so I could use my phone anew. I wanted to avoid restoring it completely since I did not have the information about my APN (I have the T-Mobile Vibrant, but I live in Canada and I'm on Videotron's network), and performances before ICS where really bad (lagging, freezing, name it). Also, I figured it was only a booting problem, so (biggest mistake is here I believe) I tried to restore the boot only. I found somewhere in the advanced options of Clockwork an option to restore parts of the backed-up ROM. So I did it, but I got an error saying something about the checksum I think. There I realized that I was trying to restore an Eclair boot backup to an ICS ROM, so the checksum error probably came from that. I try it a second time... same result. Then, when I rebooted it stopped at the Vibrant screen I described above.
What I tried to resolve it:
- Tried to go back to recovery mode by holding the three buttons as usual. Cannot get in. The only thing that "works" is that if I hold the power button for 6-8 second, it will reboot. And get stuck at the same place.
- Search intensively on the web to see if anyone had the same kind of issue. Saw a lot of the "Exclamation mark bricked" type, resolved by going in recovery mode. Not useful to me.
- Tried to connect it to my computer and see where I could go from there. I am unable to mount the device. If the phone is powered down, as soon as I connect it, it starts to boot (and get stuck you know where). Windows does not recognizes the device, and gives me the message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". I tried to use the drivers from ADB and those from Kies with the same results.
- I tried to install Android Debug Bridge, but without the phone mounted, it doesn't work.
- I tried to see if Odin would detect it, with the same results
- I tried to pray, but there is no answer there yet. :crying:
So here I am, with the following things still untried:
- I would try the "resistor" way of booting in download mode it that could help. However, I don't have soldering iron, don't know how to solder and don't have the parts required, so that would take me a lot of time just the try this option, without any clue that I would resolve my problem with this. I am willing to go that way if I am pretty sure it will work
- I haven't tried using the Riff Box, and I have no idea what it is and where it would get me. I would not even know where to get access to that.
On a final note, this is my only phone in the house, and to make the matter worse, I changed providers with this phone, so my older cell phones don't work with Videotron's SIM card... I would rather have the issue resolved fast if possible, because otherwise, I'll have to buy a new phone. Let's say that I would have better uses for that cash, so I hope it does not come to that.
So that concludes my sad story for today.
Any clues welcome. If the answer is "get a new phone", I would rather do it that trying stuff for two weeks and having to buy a new phone anyway.
Try reinstalling the drivers and add the nexus drivers since some people report that you may need it. Then get into download mode for Odin, on my phone its both volume buttons, but now power, then keep holding while put the USB in. The pit and pda and reparation should be selected, since that's what I do.

This method should work for you, what your talking about is called a "USB Jig". You can buy one for around $5 online, I would recommend www.mobiletechvideos.com to buy from. Before you buy the jig I would try booting into download mode with the gingerbread button combos just in case you somehow installed them. Download mode is volume + and power button. Recovery is volume - and power.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers several times, to no effect. In fact, whatever driver there is, it does not matter since Windows always give the message about device not able to start. So I just can't use Odin.

I just tried the gingerbread combo buttons, but no more results. I will try to get a Jig assembled asap, it would still be faster than ordering it and waiting 10 days to get it. I'll let you know how it goes.
I went and made myself an USB Jig and tada!, it worked!
So I'll now reinstall something with Odin and report a last and final time to confirm everything went right.
Many thanks guys!
Still no joy, I now only get the following message while connection the phone to the computer "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (code 43)". I tried to use the drivers from Kies, the ones from ADB (unsigned, therefore cannot install them on my Windows 7 x64).
Tried to uninstall, then reinstall. Rebooted and reinstalled, and finally tried every USB port on my computer. Always the same result. Anyone has a clue?
Will try tomorrow on the computer @ work...

No, it is a T-Mobile Vibrant, and thus has only one camera facing the back. However, I fail to see how it could be relevant...

How to mount internal SD with a Dead screen!?

My SGS 2 screen is done for. The phone still boots up and responds normally otherwise.
I am running a Gingerbread 2.36 Siyah Kernel on it.
How do I get my data of the phone by mounting the Sd card?
Maybe someone who has this kernel can tell me what to blindly press after holding Vol Up plus power to get to the mount internal SD menu.
Thanks!

Lol, its not that easy as said by u, 'Will Try closing my eyes and walk in the midst of a Heavy Traffic and see what happens'.
Either replace ur screen (either by paying or warranty claim) if not take it to a nearest service center and see what best they can do for u
If you want the stuff from the card, remove it and use a card reader. If you want the stuff from the internal storage, this gets tricky....
Get your phone to a service center and specifically tell that they need to just replace the faulty screen. So no JB updates, motherboard replacement or wiping the device clean.
Sent from my digital submersible hovercraft.
Really guys? Take it to a service centre? I already knew that.
I don't have the money to take it into a service centre. Phone is out of warranty.
Replacing screen costs money too. About $300 in Australia, may as well buy a new phone.
Actually if I boot into recovery the phone is already rooted etc it is that easy.
All i need to knwo is volume up down power, up, power etc.
Or there was some android app windows sdk where you simply mnt/sdcard etc while connected to USB.
What recovery is on there? If it's cwm non touch let me know and I'll give you the sequence of keys

I'm not exactly sure but it the one after installing Darky rom HD gingebread, Or as its now called alliance rom V1.1 Ginerbread.
I just installed the latest GGB compatible Siyah Kernel on top of it and thats it.
It is non touch. Not too many menus, maybe 6.

That sounds like a better idea. Mashing around blindly in recovery seems pretty risky to me, especially if you're not sure what version you have. Unfortunately I don't know the first thing about ABD either, sorry. Good luck.
I just plugged in the phone to samsung kies, and it detects it just fine, but it says to set the phone to USB samsung kies mode and it doesnt support this mode. ATM I am in USB debug mode.
Surely there is a progam that acceses the phone via debug mode?
OR even via Download mode?
I am giving this Android SDK a go, holy crap it is so complex. I installed some packages, double clicked on ABD under sdk>platform tools, and a command prompt window comes up, a bunch of text flies by in 1 second and it automatically closes..

Gotta say this community is just abysmal at handing out help.
To the dude above asking what android version. Read the OP before spending time asking a useless question. I said 2.36. And windows or mac...? Do you really think I would not find be willing to use either if there was a way to recover my data.
If anyone is interested here is how I solved my problem, this simplest method could not simply be mentioned here?
I turned my phone on. Let it boot. Then I plugged in the USB cable from the computer. The phone should register the connection either via vibrate or noise, and in "my computer" the drives show up but are inaccessible by windows explorer, or kies because USB debugging is On.
go to google play store via your browser, preferably chrome. search for a a program called My phone explorer. Select install. It should install it to your phone. Look in the description and install the PC side of the software on your PC.
Open "my phone explorer" on your pc and voilla should be able to sync
I only wish someone could tell me this instead of having to fluke it on my own

[Q] HTC One; Need Assistance Restoring/Recoverin Phone (Will pay via Paypal for help)

Hello XDA-Developers,
I've been a reader here for awhile now learning things about the android development for my devices and used many of your all members TUTs, but now i have came across a big issue that has broke my phone and need assistance getting it back online to be used with my carrier again. Below I'll explain my situation of what happen and what I need to be done so I can use the phone again or least get it back to factory stock so I can get a new phone... I will also offer someone $5-10 via PayPal for the assistance if you can help me get my phone back to the condition needed.
To start it off, I purchased a phone off a guy on craigslist, a AT&T HTC One M7 (Model: PN07120), when I purchased the device it was unlocked so I could use it on my carrier that was the reason I purchased it because I'm with T-Mobile. When I purchased the phone i went to setup the device to my needs and requirements and after two days of having the device, I noticed that the phone still had the previous owners information stored and was setup based on him, so because I didnt know the phone was rooted or anything, I googled how to factory reset my phone, so that way I could set it up to my wants, and requirements and below I'll explain the steps i'm at and what it is doing...
1. Searched google for the how-to method to factory reset my phone...
2. Went to 'Settings App', Backup & Restore, Reset Phone, Erase everything, Selected OK.
3. Followed the steps, phone rebooted..
4. Loaded up to the HTC (green logo) screen and stayed there...
5. Waited a few moments, phone never powered 100% back online just stayed at the HTC welcome logo when you first power phone back on.
6. So then I did the Boot Menu steps, (Hold Powerkey + Volume Down) to get into the boot menu,
7. When I got there it loaded to the boot manager window and I clicked FASTBOOT
8. Loaded new menu/logo "twrp" logo, then went to a menu "team win recovery project v2.6.3.3" with the list of options: INSTALL/WIPE/Backup/Restore/Mount/Settings/Advanced/Reboot.
9. I went to reboot to try to least get the phone booted, then when I was in the option to reboot, it gave me the warning of "No OS Installed", Continue without OS?"
10A. If I selected yes, it told me Install SuperSU, for root, otherwise phone wont be rooted.
10A1. I tried doing INSTALL SUPERSU did nothing..
10B. Did without installing SUPERSU and did nothing too, just when I boot comes back to this same menu Team Win Recovery Project.
So it seems I bricked my device as what everyone calls it to what I believe, I am unsure though or unsure how to fix this. I need to get the device either back to factory resetted to like the device comes out the box, so that I can use it, or what to do to get it back rooted successfully and working to be able to use the phone like i could at first.
I tried contacting the buyer but hes ignoring me now that I told him he told me the device wasnt rooted but the device was rooted and i seemed to have a major problem happen trying to restore the phone to factory defaults to set it up to my requirements...
My concerns and want is..
- My Carrier is T-Mobile USA LTE - So, I would have to get the device to stay UNLOCKED so I can still use the device on my carrier: T-Mobile, as it is a AT&T HTC One M7 Unlocked (Was working fine on my T-Mobile Sim prior to me trying to factory reset, besides the phone was named to the original owner and had all his settings and customizations that i didnt like or want.
- I NEED to get the phone back in a working condition. So please I'm really asking for your help I tried searching a couple articles here but couldnt find anything related to my situation.. This is why I am offering a payment for someone to be able to successfully restore my device back to working condition. Please help me!
- NOTE: When plugged up to the computer via USB Cord it did not connect or anything also. I also did not perform a backup because I didnt need any information that was currently on the device because it was the content and settings of the original owner i bought it from so I wanted to clear it all and set it up to my own.
- Overall, my phone is messed up because I tried factory resetting the device not knowing it was rooted, during the process found out it was rooted and now seem to have a bricked phone and need to know how i can fix it, and get android OS back installed, as it tells me there is NO OS installed when I reboot or try booting the device, and it remains at the HTC Bootlogo when powering it on without holding the power + volume down key to access a boot menu to perform a reset, install, etc, Like I mentioned I just want to restore my phone back to working condition even if that means to have to root the device again, etc. All I'm asking for is someone to either help me with each step or to write a step by step what I would need to do to recover and restore my phone.
Phone: HTC one m7 (AT&T)
Computer; Windows
Thank you,
PM or respond here.
Don't worry you device is not bricked...
Google Android Revolution HD 41.0 for HTC one. Download that ROM.
Second you will have to install android SDK to be able to access adb.exe and fastboot.exe...
Now once you installed the SDK move the ROM ARHD to where adb.exe is located.
run command prompt "CMD" from your computer until you are in the folder where you have you adb.exe
Now on your phone get into recovery TWRP and select advance, in advance the is an option called adb sideload click on it and at the bottom slide the button to initiate that mode.
Back to the computer in which you should be in CMD type command "adb devices" and make sure your device shows up. After successfully seen your device there type "adb sideload file-rom.zip and press enter, make sure the file-rom.zip is the exact name of the ROM you are trying to push into the phone.

Where can I find this stuff I need to download? I tried doing a search and got a different version, Android Revolution HD 51.0, but could you please link me to the stuff I need to download on my computer, etc?
Okay I've done the steps you've instructed to me and I'm stuck at after launching the sideload feature on my phone; then going back to the computer and running 'adb devices' and under "List of Attached Devices" there isn't anything listed yet, and the phone says "Starting ADB sideload feature..." is the last line, I'm stuck with what to do...
I downloaded android SDK
downloaded the ROM
moved the ROM to the sdk folder where adb.exe and fastboot.exe are
launched adb sideload feature under advanced on mobile device
went back to the computer and ran, 'adb devices', and list of attached devices is none...
so I'm back at being stuck.
djay1127 said:
Hey again,
Okay I downloaded the android SDK, and I'm downloading the correct ROM now to install. Only questions I have for you is the following...
1) You said to move the ROM to where adb.exe is at... What do you mean by this? I don't have that file on my computer...
Where do I move it too once I have the android SDK downloaded and the rom downloaded...

I watched the video and got all of that working and checked based on the video and made sure all was installed, now i'm just still stuck at where you instructed me to do 'adb devices' after launching adb sideload under advanced on mobile, i did that, and i get
List of devices attached...
<nothing>
Then goes back to where I can type another command...
The phone itself screen is on the adb sideload feature, and in the textbox thing, shows the following
Updating partition details...
Starting ADB sideload feature...
then has a Cancel button underneath and then a loading bar underneath that... am I doing something wrong? or missing something?
Do I need to have the USB cord plugged into phone/computer also to do this? or dont have it plugged up...

HTC Manager = no
drivers = i dont know.
Note: I never had the phone plugged up to my computer before when it was working. I had just purchased the phone off of craigslist and the guy didnt inform me it was rooted or anything just that it was unlocked and worked on tmobile and when i got it it had all his info on it so i factory resetted it and it messed everything up as you can see.
So, I dont believe i have anything drivers installed and i know when i plug it up, there are 4 things windows says installing/etc, and only the first one says completed the other 3 fail.
I am using Windows 7.
You help me get my phone back in working condition I will personally paypal you $20.

Go to this website and download the HTC sync manager
http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/
Once installed go to control panel > programs and uninstall a program... Look for the HTC sync manager and uninstall it, but leave the htc drivers alone.
Connect the HTC one to the computer and wait for the drivers to install automatically... After they are successfully installed try to run the CMD adb command adb devices

Okay so I've done all that and after doing what you said, plugging the phone up to the computer everything installs besides the HTC MTP driver when the phone is plugged in. I still tried doing adb devices from cmd prompt to check and that didnt work still, no devices listed.
I get this error under the driver:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Based on what I've been reading that code error might be cause by a corrupted driver installed.

was a tough little driver... well the solution as we saw was that instead of trying to make recovery detect the drivers.... what needed to be done first was let fastboot detect drivers "android 1.0" and once that was done... the previous error was gone.
TopoX;
You know this guy right here is clutch in my book.... He actually walked me through step by step, customizing how i needed it, fixing everything, and getting it back up and even though we had to do alot of modifications on my computer-end, him with TeamViewer literally fixed my phone, upgraded my laptop, and got my phone running better then normal and actually showed me how to do everything and taught me things I didn't know how to do with these Android Phones.
I am now very happy and thankful of XDA-Developers for allowing me to get this assistance and for having a great community with members like TopoX who literally saved my ass and restored my phone back to working condition and fixed my laptop all together, even though I was a brand new member with hardly any posts and not really much background, anyone else wouldn't of wasted their time... but he helped and even was up until 3AM ish doing it with me to make sure I got it back to exactly how I wanted...
We had to get the HTC MTP Driver installed correctly which kept failing/getting code error 10 (Unable to start) which if you google the issue it seems ALOT of people get this issue, and we resolved it by fastbooting and letting it install Android 1.0 itself, then manually updating my pc with windows updates and getting rid of the junk to stop corrupting and failing the drivers needed, then getting everything needed to flash my phone and re-root the device getting everything back in a working condition, unlocked, got that done and now phone is working better then before...
I'm currently running Team Win Recovery Project, ARHDOne-61.0 Google Play Edition, Rooted, SuperUser and Unlocked.
I personally wanna thank TopoX for everything he did and dedicating his time to helping resolve the issue for me.

I love XDA.
If anyone is trying too get in contact with "djay1127", please contact me on this user, my original first account djay1127 I can no longer access the account as I set it up with my Google account, gplus login, and I can no longer access that email, it's closed out. [Q] Stock Verizon S4, unable to unlock w/PIN

I am in SO much trouble with the Wife....
Bought the Wife an S5, and pulled her SD card from the S4, and was going to backup files and contacts but entered the WRONG swipe pattern 3 times (I was using mine), and now it's asking for a PIN.
She hasn't set one that she recalls. We log into Google and do the LOCK, reset PIN to 1234 and the phone STILL sez it's the wrong PIN.
The only info I can give is it appears to be on 4.4.2 I think, recovery mode reports
Android System Recovery <3e>
KOT49H.I545VRUFNG6
I tried Aroma 1.8 and 1.9x to no avail, fails E-Signature. Is there any help to be had without destroying user data on the phone?
I don't mind donating either to whoever helps me!

Try "Adb devices" if nothing shows up, that is unfortunate....
This next way /SHOULD/ work, no promises though , I used this method to get from VRUFNG6 to VRUFNC5 after accidentally deleting some system files, your ideal solution is an NG6 No-Wipe TAR, because it would restore your /system, partition (and passcode) but keep user data, but no such TAR exists... so the easiest way would be to use the No-Wipe NC5 tar, then re-upgrade to NG6 via the settings app (OTA)
Download the No-Wipe, MAKE SURE ITS THE NO WIPE NC5 tar in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172 , and follow the instructions to flash it. (i.e. load the .tar.md5 file into ODIN's AP Slot)
When you reboot, you may be greeted by some apps force closing... all you have to do is uninstall them and reinstall those apps from the Play store. After you reinstall those, reboot again and take the NG6 update through settings. Then you will be at NG6 w/o a passcode and your user data will be preserved.
Good Luck man. Hope your wife doesn't kill you.

NOLEN-
It's WORSE THAN DEATH brother. She broke out the River of Tears on me dude.
Having said that, when I took Programming Pascal was the hip thing and C was the new kid on the block. However I have spent a lifetime building DWDM optical networks, so I'm at least a technoid. I'll read up on the ODIN...
EDIT:
1- Do I have to reinstall the APPS that may need to be? All I'm after are the pics and msg downloads and then I can toss it!
2- Once this procedure/upload is complete and reboot takes place, the is then on it's original release with no security?
DOUBLE EDIT:

1. Just use the no wipe TAR file in the AP Slot in Odin, don't fill any other slots, only check the boxes that are pre-checked when ODIN starts. Then Reboot into download mode by shutting the phone down, then hold volume down and power to boot into download mode, select continue with the volume up button when prompted. Plug into your PC and click Start.
2. Well, maybe. If the force close is not a constant one (like it was for me, Nova launcher constantly crashed), then you should be good.
3. Well, the /system partition is restored. Your data is still present. What do you mean by Security? Also, if when you want to sell the S4, you want to Wipe to factory defaults, just use the Full-Wipe in ODIN.
4. Thanks man!!! I really appreciate it!
In response to your Double Edit: Haha. Not your fault, It took me a few reads through to understand half the stuff Ive learned here XD

Oh. My bad, I forgot to include the step to install the Samsung mobile USB Driver here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
Try again after that.
If not, try a diff. USB Port (preferably 2.0), for some reason, I have one USB on my laptop that actually gets along with ODIN. XD
Edit: are you using ODIN 3.09? I know that 3.07 has issues with Kitkat.

Well, if it doesn't install, just use the Google Generic Phone driver, just Google it.
Then plug into a different port on your computer (not a USB hub) and also make sure its a nicer (preferably Samsung) cable, then try flashing again.

Did you get this sorted? Is user data all you need off the phone? Contact/call logs/text messages...etc? Also, why did you not just pull the battery once it asked for a pin to get back to whatever form of security was set previous? When you set up your security, it asks for a pin so she would have had to enter one.

Did you get this sorted? Is user data all you need off the phone? Contact/call logs/text messages...etc? Also, why did you not just pull the battery once it asked for a pin to get back to whatever form of security was set previous? When you set up your security, it asks for a pin so she would have had to enter one.

If I'm correct if an exchange email is set up on the device, rebooting wont do a thing, it will still want a passcode, one that she doesn't remember setting.

This is the screen I get when I incorrectly enter my swipe pattern. Stock/rooted. I'm thinking if they went with "forgot pattern" (which I'm not sure why the would), then they would have needed to enter email/password info to have the pattern image emailed to them. You cannot get to a point on an S4 (to my knowledge) where the security will overwrite the preferred and selected security (swipe in this case) for something else. Unless they selected "backup pin" and you get almost unlimited tries then and even still, once the 30 second lockout is over, security just goes back to whatever is set (swipe in this case). The question in the OP kind of does not make sense to me but if he's been flashing firmware, the security lock is not really his problem anymore if he still wants his user data....Unless I'm completely off base here.
[Edit] Her work requiring a pin if she gets company email to her phone just clicked. Lol. She would have had to set all that up through work though and definitely would've needed to select a pin number but that would all be done through work so changing the passcode through Google would do nothing anyway...

OK, so this is my WIFE we're talking about here; as far as she's concerned, it's Magic we're discussing here
She had Backup setup, so she got her contacts but the messages and photos that weren't stored on the SD card are what she's looking for. The pics her Sisters in Peru sent her over WhatsApp, downloads and SMS.
Thanks to everyone for pitching in. Not sure why it went to the PIN request, or what that PIN is but it does warn that after 10 attempts it'll wipe the device...but if I go to Google and do a LOCK command and change pin there, it resets the number of attempts to zero. SO. THEORETICALLY speaking I could enter 0000-9999 and see which one works but that may take a few years ....

I'd Install some different drivers and see which one gets ODIN to succeed, because if it will flash, that will work.

I'm worried that being LOCKED, it shuts down the port or something....

Uh. It shouldnt be locked. The phone should be in download mode. Have you been putting it in download mode?
OK so it TOOK the NC5 downgrade, but now it's at the "enter PIN" screen again. It HAD been in a boot loop with "android.process.acore" has stopped. Now it seems stable, it's not rebooting anyway.
What now?
