Dark Meadow on non-Tegra3 Devices - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dark Meadow is finally out, and it looks amazing.... but I don't own a Tegra-3 device (yet). It is built "built specifically for the Tegra 3 4-PLUS-1 chipset" but anyone have insight as to what that really means? We have gotten Tegra-2 games to work on non-tegra devices with the help of Chainfire and other tweeks... so any ideas as to if it is even possible to play on a Tegra-2 device? Would I just be wasting my time trying to figure out how to get it running?

I think there is a non tegra version out, both tegra version and nontegra version wont work on my tf101.
Hooray for Android gaming....

I would also like to know if this can work on non tegra with chainfire 3d D;. I can't find the non tegra version. link please?

Dark Meadow work on tf101 with the apk patched for all device without chainfire 3d.

tried modded apk with titanium backup file and modded sd files on evo 3d, does not work, it just gets to the title screen and the graphics get all garbled with and without chainfire. if anyone knows how, please post. also does chainfire work well on tegra 3 devices? does it have msaa support? thanks. you can find more info on the modded version a mobilephonetalk.com. it shouldn`t breach the forum rules as it is a free game.

Sorry for the thread ressurection, but it's the first link that comes up when googled. I figure it's best place this here for those looking to make Dark Meadow work. I spent a lot of time reading all over the place for a method on how to get it working, but the usual end to it was "It doesn't work!" ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTDKeNOxe4s
I managed to get it working last night on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 using the fixed .apk that's floating around the internet. There seems to be a lot different thoughts about how to make it work. I can say with confidence that to make it run on my tablet I needed to use Chainfire 3D with the nvidia plugin for Tegra support. Seemed that most people who did get it working without Tegra 3 devices had at least Tegra 2. I further verified the need for Chainfire 3D in that when loading Dark Meadow without Chainfire 3D the game quickly exits out after the Unreal Engine screen. When using Chainfire 3D the game continues to load and you will get the Phosphor screen. THIS is where Tegra but non Tegra 3 devices run into a problem. They get a black screen and then it closes out shortly after.
What seems to have gone unnoticed is that when the Phosphor screen loads, the main menu is loaded behind it and is very much touchable. Having gotten into the game a couple of times already by some random chance I started tapping where the START NEW GAME option is. I could hear the sound effect, but usually nothing happened after that. So I tried hitting HOME then using the task manager to return to it. I was greeted with a white screen... The start of a new game! I tried this several times to be sure, and it worked more often than not. You can from there back out to the main menu and load a saved game.
Unsure if this will work for other devices, but that's how I got it working.
Update: Tried doing the exact same thing on my Galaxy SIII phone, but it doesn't work. I did manage to get into the main menu twice out of like 40 attempts, but never got beyond that. The tapping on the lower right doesn't work in this case. When I did start a new game though I got the white screen and then choked.
I think it's worth noting the hardware in the US GS3 and Note 10.1 are different, but I believe the international GS3 has the same CPU/GPU as the Note 10.1, so it may work with that.

Thanks
yes it works perfectly, just install the app, install the driver and let it reboot(the phone will appear to be frozen with a black screen and the capacitive buttons will be on, just let it sit for about 5 minutes then pull the battery) i have been playing a lot of thd games since s-off was achieved

Battery pulls make me nervous. Is it required?
So does this make all the tegra2 games show up in the market or do you have to track them down elsewhere?

Is Riptide in the market typically for tegra based phones? If so then it didn't show up for me after I installed everything and did the market fix.
I had to track it down. It does work flawlessly though after installing the desireHD shaders and the NVIDIA plugin.

Why? Aside from having to remove that goddamned battery cover who cares? Besides, I figure after removing it enough it will wear down the tabs a little and come off a tad easier.

Because He was talking about while installing a driver pulling the battery, That sounds like a recipe for a brick. I know if you do a battery pull while flashing a radio thats one of the things that can happen.
does anyone have links to the drivers that need to be installed?

Has anyone tried playing Dungeon Defenders with it?
I've got Dungeon Defenders using the Nvidia plugin and all the textures are messed up.

yes it is required, if you don't pull it the phone will not turn off until you do. I have tried Galaxy on fire 2 thd, riptide, pinball thd, all of them have worked perfectly. Since these games are blocked on the 3VO market, simply go to 4shared and search for the game(ie: riptide.apk)
I couldnt get bang bang racing to work. Kept saying I didn't meet the minimum requirements. Hmm...

Im here to ask if theres any upscale benefit from the plugins... He [the developer] cannot link the plugins, but i have them...
*libGLEMU_QUALCOMM.zip
*libGLEMU_NVIDIA.zip
*libGLEMU_POWERVR.zip
these each contain a .so file...
I have installed them all, but am wondering which I should default, PowerVR, or Nvidia. As far as I know, PowerVR is something to do with Tegra2, perhaps more efficient than the Nvidia T2.so ? Idk. Someone here knows... Tell us.
here is all 3... Unzip the first file, keep the .so files in the zip, and load them in CF3D (as .zips)

Has anyone else tried Galaxy on Fire 2 THD? I tried to install the SD files via wifi and 3G but kept on receiving read errors so I installed some SD files that I found on a file hosting site that claimed to be for the THD version.
I then ran the app but it's not displaying properly. It's not black and white but it's definitely unplayable with some garbled textures and missing objects like the menu. I'm pretty sure that I installed Chainfire correctly because Riptide works flawlessly with the NVIDIA plugin.

I installed the demo from the marketplace. everything installed fine for me and I was playing as soon as the Game content downloaded. (570mbs worth)
it plays smooth for the most part with all the bells and whistles turned on. chops in some spots, moving the slider down to medium during heavy screen action fixed it though, and still looked damn good.
Tegra2 required my ass! lol

Glad you got it working! I am still having problems... I successfully downloaded the SD files off WIFI and I can't see any asteroids on the first mining mission. I'll play around with the settings a bit and see if I can improve things.
update: Okay, on occasion the asteroids do show up on rare random instances when I start the app. However each time this happens, the game runs like crap and then shuts down with an error and before I can read the problem, my phone reboots.. ARGH!

Dead Space

Has anyone gotten dead space to run properly on their nook color? It installed and runs quite well on the nook color, however all i see is white screen. I'm able to move the character around but its difficult due to the graphical issue. Help?
Just tried it out on mine, running cm7 N157, and it's a no go for me. the game crashes right as the movie starts. Any tips for getting past that?

Same problem for me. The game starts up for a second, I see the logo and then it closes itself.
Make sure you already have the downloaded files installed under "ea" folder

I don't even get a movie or white screen... My screen lights up for a few seconds, and then closes the program. No warning or force close, nothing.
This is with multiple settings in Chainfire 3d's newest update. Even if I try to emulate it with the Qualcomm plugin.
Files are on SD card under ea
Edit: Forgot to mention that I tried this on both the .29 kernel and the .32 kernel.
Update: For those who have paid for this game, look for the Hacked Galaxy S apk file and the PowerVR sd card files, works a treat =D. So beautiful! One more reason it's okay I sold my PS3.

Didn't work for me. I launch the game. It checks for updates. I have a black screen, whith what looks like the bottom of a "marker" on the bottom of the screen for a second before it closes. No force close notification or error, the app just isn't on the screen anymore.
Are there any specific CF3D settings you're using? Do you have the EGL driver installed?

Did you make sure to replace the EA sd card data with the PowerVR files? As I made that mistake the first time.
No specific settings in CF3D, in fact, I would venture to say it doesn't need any since my default settings are for tegra, and that's what it's using.
No Idea what the EGL driver is...
Will also mention I am on the .29 kernel right now.
Yeah, I tried the regular SD files as well as the PowerVR files. With both file sets I tried tegra, qualcomm, and PowerVR plugins. No luck. I think I'm just going to give up, maybe I'll play it if I end up getting another tablet or phone down the road. Thanks for your help though!

Why would you use PowerVR data files if you have CF3D set to tegra? I'm not sure how that would work.
Our devices are PowerVR I believe. So it doesn't go through CF3D at all. I was merely mentioning, that I hadn't messed or done anything with CF3D to make it work.
My default settings just happen to be for tegra since I obviously have the tegra games as well.
My only gripe with this game so far... It's almost impossible to play with a touch screen, the controls are just really difficult to grasp. You have to run using your thumb on one side of the screen, while at the same time aiming and shooting with the other thumb. Ammo is even more sparse than the original games, and with how impossible it is to shoot the aliens just right, you never have ammo. Curb stomping requires a swipe, which can lead to a messed up camera and you dead. And the plasma cutter is hit or miss since it's in the corner of the screen, again possibly screwing up the camera.
Got to a point where I just kept running.
Other than that... Impressive graphics that would make any fanboy drool at the chance to play, story line seems pretty eerie and interesting from the first 30mins or so of play. In-ear headphones definitely make it just as traumatizing as the first 2. (Of course, my subwoofer does a much better job at making me jump ;p)
That said, if you still can't get it to work, I would suggest trying on a .29 kernel. Currently using Phiremod 6.2, less of battery, .29 kernel is just a much better kernel for those who aren't looking to not use their nook for long periods of time. N64oid is freakin awesome now ;p. Video is less laggy. So is flash.
Just a thought =D

I don't believe it does, which is unfortunate with the recent release of SixAxis.
So, could you guys that have this up and running give us detailed instructions on how you got it to run? I have generated my imei number, downloaded and installed chainfire 3d, all of its plug ins, and changed my build prop to a couple of different things. tried a hacked version of the game, galaxy apk, sd cache, vr cache, still no dice. Been at it for like 4 hours, my ocd will not let me walk away.

Since you have been at it for like 4hrs, maybe just for the hell of it, you should try the .29kernel instead and see if that's the missing link.
Will take a look at zelda later, beat it so many times I haven't really tried to play it.

OnLive released for Andrdoid

OnLive's gaming app was released today for Android... you can find it on the market at
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.onlive.client
I don't have my NC with me, but I tried it out on my phone. It works at least! I didn't really get to play much but hey, it's there
FYI, there is a special controller that is coming later this month too (tomorrow?), although it's supposed to be $50. Hopefully it at least comes with a free game.
PS. if you sign into onlive through the app, you can get Lego Batman for free.
Anyone have the .apk file so we can try it out? It doesn't show up in the market for my T-mobile Samsung galaxy s 2
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
People in the article on engadget mentioned it was posted at http://onlivefans.com. I didn't find it just by looking quickly, but maybe try a search
I got it, ill post it soon. It's running laggy on my NC but I bet its my crappy 3mb internet connection, since i keep getting a message that my connection dropped lower than the minimum
Here is the apk hope it works
Ok, cool. I'm interested in the new controller they have coming out. I did not find much information on if you could use other controllers, but it sounded like "no" for Android: http://onlivefans.com/showthread.php?14160-The-Controller-FAQ
I haven't been able to try it on my NC yet, but on my phone the graphics were fairly blurry but it was mostly pretty responsive (just navigating the UI and playing the first couple seconds of Lego Batman). I was on 3G because Verizon's having another 4G outage apparently, so I'll have to see how it goes on my home wifi or 4g when it comes back.
Anyone having issues with not finding in Market or the apk not side loading likely can go to onlive.com/hardware_mobile and click the Market link that shows there. Had to change my dpi to 160 to install but worked great after that. I had to go this route on my 2 bionics and the NC.
It runs great on CM 7.1.0.1 (Stable)
I tried playing games on my Nook Color like N.O.V.A. 2 HD and after getting my @$$ handed to me in the game because the NC wasn't fast enough to respond to my controls I tried the OnLive game service and I have to say it's pretty sweet.
I didn't notice any lag whatsoever when I played a few minutes of LEGO: Batman and I was using the on-screen touch controls the whole time since I don't have their universal game controller.
I'm not a serious gamer but my 5 year old is really getting into it. He already is monopolizing time on my other android devices playing games. Since LEGO: Batman is his favorite at the moment I've been forced to drag out the old Playstation 2 console out of the closet. Now that I've got this to work on my NC I can get rid of the PS2 finally and contain all of his gaming on the NC.

Is the 8.9 Tab a POS?

Sorry for my title in this thread, but I am just a little upset right now. Whatever 3d game I download, either does not work, is not compatible with the tab, and if it does install crashes in 30 mins. If it does not crash, the ap acts crazy. I am talking about game apps btw. Skies of glory, my plane just keeps spinning around non stop. About 10 games I tried downloading are not compatible. Hawx crashes 15 mins into the game. I see alot of apps are compatible with the 10.1 inch model. When I go to gameloft, they don't even have the 8.9 model as one of the selection on their site. Is it just my tab or no one offers support for this thing?
Does anyone have any 3d games that work with this tab? So I can at least get some more? (I do have shadowgun, Hot Pursuit, and dead space were the only ones I see that work really well. Thanks
This is because Galaxy Tab 8.9 defaults to "landscape" in build.prop whereas all the other tabs including the 10.1 defaults to "portrait". That means any game that uses the accelerometer will not function for 8.9 (unless you hold it in landscape mode!) until the developers start to cater specifically for 8.9.
you're going to want to install a custom ROM and you'll like it much better.
I don't know why samsung made some of the decisions they did, but overcome fixes everything that you're talking about.
I play GTA, osmos, world of goo, wreckless racing, wreckless getaway, etc. all work great.
Is it a POS? stock software, yes. hardware, absolutely not.
Thanks for the replies guys, what custom rom do you recommend for it? I guess I will google it if a link cannot be posted. Thanks.

The only question to ask yourself is, do you want honeycomb or try out the ics alphas. I would go with ics but keep in mind it's alpha so some stuff might not work

At the moment there is no one Gameloft game in the market for 8.9 Galaxy tab.

Problem with game in Yuandao N90S - Screen bug

Hello everyone. I'm having a problem with a game (Final Fantasy VI) in my tablet, which doesn't display the game correctly during the combat part. I'm thinking that maybe is related with the rom I'm using (RilleyRom 1.5) but I'm not sure. So if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.
Attached are some screenshots I took. The first one is normal display during gameplay out of combat. The other two are the bug in his full glory.
Thank you.

The graphics in the device maybe not that much efficient to run.
Or maybe the game is missing some frames :silly:
Download the game and try again.
If your tablet is rooted, then install ChainFire3D and install drivers in it. Also reduce texture quality to run game.
If your device is not rooted, then try someother game.

Thanks for posting this because all i can ever find on this game is that major glitch from v1.0. I must have spent about 4 hours yesterday uninstalling, reinstalling, redownloading the game. I get the same results. The game seems to work fine on my Galaxy S3. I have some cheapo android tablet (Sweet brand...got it for free) running some boring version of 4.1.1. Totally stock. I've tried everything, including playing to where Terra goes into the caves on her own (figuring it was some glitch with the mechs). Anytime and every time a member of the hero's party does any action (even switching rows), the screen blacks out like your screen shot. Does not happen with enemies. I thought it was my cheap tablet not being good enough, but the game should just slow down, not black out. Other effects from cutscenes (as far as I was willing to play) seemed to work fine.
I am just tempted to play this just on my phone, but it is so much more enjoyable on the slightly larger screen. I haven't really played this game since i had it on SNES. I bought the WII version the day it came out, and then never touched it, realizing that I didn't want to dedicate 50+ hours in front of my tv to this game. Playing on the go is so much more enjoyable because I can play 20 minutes in bed. play 15 minutes on the john. Play 15 minutes during lunch, etc. The updated sprites look like cheap stickers but everything else in this game looks great and I like how they set it up for the touch screen.
Let's hope this gets figured out.

I have a Moto G and the game is perfect on it so it must be something related with our tablets. My only hope is that an update fixes it, because, like you, I would rather play the game in my tablet with a bigger screen.
