[Q] App/Tool to detect "silent sms" existing or possible? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I've read quite a bit about the so called silent sms or stealth sms which can be send to your phone to track you down and which do not show up as actual sms received.
I already did an intensive search for an app or something to detect those sms - they have to be recognized by the phone somehow, so there must be a way to get this information and display it to the user doesnt it?
I'm pretty sure there would be plenty of interest for an app like that, but since I have no clue where to start I'm askin here for help.
Is there any tool out there that could achieve this? Are silent sms registered in the Android System at all so that they could be detected?
Hope someone can enlighten me a bit.

discussed this topic with some people in the past. I think you need a baseband change to detect, and most basebands are proprietary

[Q] Stopping GoSMS update checks

Hoping somebody else here uses GoSMS. I am getting irritated at the weekly theme and update checks that the application pops up in front of your face, and there seems to be no way of disabling it. I like the version I am using (and the newer versions have changes I dislike). Multiple questions sent to the developer via their contact page go unanswered.
Does anyone know of a way to disable the updates? Possible hostname blocks I can put on the phone to prevent the app from checking?

[Q] Phone remote control

Hello,
Just wondering whether anyone had any ideas on this.
I use a PC at work all day but quite often want to use GTalk to chat to people. Unfortunately my company blocks it so I can't use a browser to chat but obviously I can through my phone.
I used to have an HTC Desire that was rooted so that allowed me to use droidvnc to connect to my phone from my PC via vncviewer using USB(There's no wifi here).
It then meant I could type on my keyboard which makes things a whole lot easier when you're in the middle of something.
Basically now I've gone to an HTC One X I'm just wondering whether there's any app or anything that would let me do the same thing but without rooting the device as I don't want to invalidate any warranties just yet.
So in summary I'm really after a bit of software to let me remote control my phone via USB for the purpose of using GTalk or any other ideas anyone might have to get round it
Thanks

[Q] Smartphone that allows to manage the use of chips so automatically?

friends

I need some information. I am needing to buy an android phone that performs the automatic management of the use of chips (peradoras). I need to know if I can set the system every time you need to use the data network (3G) over to a particular chip and when to make calls using normal use another chip. I wonder if this administration can be done automatically by the system or phone. Someone tell me?

[Q] Android "Dumb Phone"

Is anyone aware of a mod, ROM, app or other that would turn an older model (or even a newer) android "Smart Phone" into a "Dumb Phone"?
I'm looking for something that would be suitable for geriatric or developmentally disabled persons to use. One single home screen with 4 or 6 BIG icons. Scrolling pictures for contacts, tap to dial.
I have parents in their mid-eighties who are technology challenged, and a son with fairly severe cerebral palsy. All of them could use something like this.
I hope you can see where I'm going with this, just wondering if there's anything already out there, or, if not, if there's any interest in something like this.
BIG Launcher seems to fit the bill for what you're asking for, six buttons and no scrolling home screens.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.kunes.android.launcher.activity&hl=en The full version is a Paid app but there's also a free one.
Just get them a Nokia 3310,3210 or 5110

pointless post, fair enough he could search but also you couldve explained more about the rule/guidelines.also its said that if you have not anything useful to post then dont
- to the O.P i think you need to look in your messages folder and its somewhere along the lines of service messages that will need disabling
Was not talking about the first rule. People should not post before reading the rules, there's nothing pointless about that
pointless as in meaning your not helping anyone in any way,let the moderators do there job and if you get the urge to help them then rightfully press the report button and report it,
Thanks to the person that actually helped. Looking into it that way. The other guy, don't mini-mod.. He's right, if you want to report the post, go for it - otherwise don't try bump your post count up here.
Cheers
I'm also getting this. turned off all mobile broadcast options in settings and still getting them. they are only area codes like 020 or 0170 etc. or strings of area codes like that. quite annoying
Suggest one of the CM discussion threads .

Turn alert notification ON in mobile broadcast but untick everything else.
I have no idea why it's backwards, it just is.
Had the same problem (in UK too). Quick googling suggested to delete "Mobile Broadcast Receiver" application. Since then no broadcasts anymore!
