That's the screen size. The wall paper size is going to be a little bit wider because of how the background moves when you switch home screens.

I guess you feel stupid then? I knew it wasn't that simple, that's why I asked.

That's what I was looking for - way to redeem yourself! Thanks!
I was just thinking about this while finishing off my bottle of Buffalo Trace (Yay, bourbon!). If I'm remembering things correctly from back in the day, the formula for android wallpaper sizes is height by 2*width, so technically the correct size would be 1280x1440. Does that sound right? it matches the size, but I'm not thinking too clearly right now...

Not very many 1440 x1280 wallpapers out there. Majority are just nature.
Hopefully we will get more soon.

[Q] qHD wallpapers?

Anyone know a good source for ready-made qHD wallpapers for the Atrix?
good question, for now i have been playing with the droid x2 wallpapers since it has a qhd screen.
Honestly, I'm not really even sure what qHD means, but the market app HD wallpapers library works perfectly on my Atrix. They all look very clear and are nice and big, etc.
qHD is one quarter HD or 540 x 960, most wall paper is 1080 x 960 so you can scroll left and right, pretty much anything close to a 1.125/1 ratio will work but of course the lower rez ones will not look as good blown up to 1080/960
It will force you to choose(at least I have not found a way around it) a 1.125/1 chunk out of a picture so if you upload something with a more widescreen ratio you will loose some of it.
The rest is mostly ascetics, do you put the object of focus over all the screens, limit it to the center 1/3, have something hiding to the far right or left, a lot of stuff to play around with.
p.s. here are some links most work well for the atrix

Is there a way to copy all the wallpapers from the dropbox link that you posted to my dropbox account? I want all of them and saving each file at a time is driving me crazy.

I am not aware of a way to get them all in one batch, I just came across those links, never used dropbox much so not sure if there is a work around or not to batch download

[Q] can screen resolution be changed to make text and objects larger

There is 1 indisputable fact; the text is significantly smaller when viewing everything. I believe it is not a result of the screen size nor aspect ratio. I think it is screen resolution just like when you change your computer monitor to a higher resolution everything gets smaller.
Fortunately I can easily read everything on my original EVO 4G. For my aging eyes the text size on the EVO 3D is just below my threshold of being able to read.
For me and others over 40 who choose to not wear glasses (to avoid the weakening of eye muscle focusing) the larger text size on the original 4G is pleasant and comfortable to view.
Unfortunately for us unless there is a setting now or in the near future to change the resolution, HTC ... Sense ... and Sprint fans like myself will just have to wait a little longer for a new and equally powerful HTC offering that is as easy to view as our original htc EVO 4G.
Perhaps a Sprint htc Sensation yet I have yet to see the text resolution on the tmo htc Sensation. Now that I think about it, the text resolution on the htc Sensation may very well be the same as the 3D.
You might try LCD Density changer. It's $.99 in the market. There's also a free one, but it requires root. If you buy the first one, please report back. Tia.

[LIVE WALLPAPER] Zombie Pop & Time Flies

Hi,
I have a couple of free wallpapers on the Android Market (please find links in my signature below) and am very curious if and how they behave on the magnificent EVO 3D?
Please could you check them out and let me know if they work, do they give any sense of depth and whether you liked them or not? It'd be really appreciated.
Many thanks,
Paul

Thanks a lot for checking them out. You're a star (have 'thanked'). I was thinking of pushing all of projects into openGL anyway - which should help with the higher number of sprites.
Very happy that you liked Zombie Pop! I've just released the full version freely onto the market as a thanks to the community (with a donation version if you feel generous).
Does anybody else get lag?
Paul
HAHAHAHA : Zombie Pop is awesome. OCD wallpaper for the "Munsters" set.
Nice choice on the "poppy paper" sounds, and the "MOAR Brainzzz" is a very nice touch. Works well on the 3d, and a little better on the Epictouch4g.
+10.
Edit: my best score was 340, but I accidentally pulled up an invisible widget for my contacts right before they "got me", so I'm using my mulligan.
I like the zombie pop, it's cool that you can touch them, that was a nice animation.but add they get closer it shows lower quality and they just disappear when they're bodies are off screen so it looks like they're head just goes away.so I would like to see higher quality images and have them run off screen. good wallpaper.

Hey mazook98,
Glad you liked it and thanks for the fab feedback! There are about a dozen 'phrases' - I was hoping they'd amuse.
'OCD wallpaper for the "Munsters" set.' nails it completely - thanks for that
Not a shabby score at all - well done on that.

Thanks also to codest17. The app is designed to work on all sorts of screen sizes - I'd made the perspective changeable to fit best with each device - you could try playing around with the settings to get a better effect?
The donation app has higher-res graphics, more zombie types, speeds and lets you put your own heads on zombies.
How did you mean 'have them run off screen'? As in instead of exploding?
Cheers,
Paul

Screen Resolution on ICS and software keys

You know that our (SGSII) screen resolution is 800x480 which gives us 15:9 aspect ratio. New Galaxy Nexus has 1280x720 which has a more movie friendly aspect ratio of 16:9. In ICS' screen it seems that the last 80 (not sure) pixels of the screen (portrait) are used for the menu keys or soft keys (you name it) as our hard/touch keys. I mentioned in the short videos of the new nexus that when in landscape mode, the screen keys follow the bottom of the screen and just rotate their icons. This leaves it with 1200x720 screen res for Android (no matter orientation) which has an aspect ratio of 15:9. This is what we have now! My opinion is that galaxy nexus shows that if manufacturers want no hard keys for ICS devices (mainly smartphones) they should be making 16:9 screens. On smartphones with low res screens, or older devices with harware keys, 15:9 is just fine. It gives the same look and feel and needs no modification. And this is what we are going to get!
On the other hand, tablets like SGT 10.1 with 1280x800 (16:10) or old SGT with 1024x600, do not match with this pattern and need different approach.
What do you think?
I believe that they said that the touch buttons disappear when playing a game or video.

Good point! Also I would think that the default DPI will be changed to 220 or maybe even 200 once ICS hits phones with 800X480 resolution!
Hopefully this means that the Android Market would now work at all densities

Exactly. This is why the new 16:9 screens are more movie(-game) friendly.

then how would you navigate back/home, since there's no physical button?
or you mean just fade out like honeycomb?

So they will always be there if you play a game? And BTW I think ICS will only be Movie friendly! Not Game! I mean that the soft keys will be visible during Games.
tap the bezel around the edges of the screen to bring back soft keys on the galaxy nexus.. sorry.. looking to get a GSII in next few months so checking out the forums and had to correct some people with wrong information..

So the Galaxy Nexus have touch sensitive bezel?
In this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTp363GACjs&feature=youtube_gdata_player
We can see that in the camera app, softkey are not displayed BUT the place where softkey take place normaly is just black and we need to touch this black space to display softkey.
So i'm really not sure that there is fullscreen mode in ICS except for Lockscreen.
seriously people get real please.
ICS is not one device os (like other ishits) this os is made to unify the android experience among mobile tablet devices of different spectrum.
chill ur balls pls

according to the spec sheets, yep
Most people on this forum will root their phone, and the developers will find a way to hide the software keys as they have on my tab 10.1.
That meens you will be able to hide the software keys with just longpressing the powerbutton and show/hide keys as I can now do on my tablet. Then you can watch a movie or play games without having to think about it, and when you need the buttons, you just show them again. Very simple solution
Umm.. Just because it has 720p, doesn't mean it has a 16:9 display
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I was thinking with ICS, how will we use our phones one handed? I mean, I tried using honey comb on a tablet and the "options" key was on the top right corner, and it seems like its the same for ICS. And I don't see the option button in the row of softkeys.
In other words to access the option menu, you need to reach all the way up to the top of the screen. Not user friendly or ergonomic if you ask me.

I was hoping a developer would make it like a tab, and swype the keys off the screen and then pull the keys back out.

Phones with Hardware keys will NOT have the Software buttons. That much is confirmed.
With I HYPOTHESIZE is that since most applications will be updated to include an action/menu bar inside the app like the next Google Maps, the "Menu" key in most phones will be the task/windows switcher key

Thanks, I do have one question, haven't looked yet but thought I would just ask. How do you use the whole picture instead of the phone trying to crop it? I included a pic for reference. It just seems like it cuts the quality of the picture.
The only resolution size that will use the entire picture without the phone cropping parts of it is 2160x1920.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
you could also flip to vertical
I've been mix-matching finds on wallbase
it's not specifically a phone site...
but the selection is hard to beat and it highlights the resolutions before full viewing!
And thanks for listing the 2160x1920 trick!
That's handy to know~
