Pause & resume while video recording? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do you know if GS3 is able to pause a video recording and resume in a second time?
It's a killer feature for me (that even a 5 years old nokia can handle..)

i dont see samsung that much innovative when it comes to their camera app. I think you still need lg camera app to pause/resume recording. Ill be the one among the happy men if this feature comes true

I agree. All these ideas/requests... I hope the OpenDesign team implements them. They are taking suggestions for some kind of feature pack for CM9.

the SGS1 had all of these features, as well as adjusting sharpness and saturation in the camera.. the year before on their Omnia HD, they had all of these and you could take slow motion video, fast video, and had an iso of 1600. every year the camera gets worse.. well be lucky if this new one even has video recording...

Umbeliveable..

The manual did not make mention of pausing while recording, but it did mention that you can change focus while already recording by tapping where you want to focus.
So my question about touch-to-focus while recording is confirmed? I sure hope so.

New Corean JB ROM has got the Pause/Resume during recording video!!!
Now finger crossed for Global JB ROM!!
Any news on Poland Rom version?

there's an application to pause video-recording?

Hello, exist a way to pause the video-recording and then retake to record? I think that can be very usefull in our HD2. i use a lot this phone to take pictures and video and sometimes when i'm recording i want to pause and start recording again later.
Is there some application or some kind of tweak to make it possible?
Many thanks!

Hi
Yeah i think it would be goo idea if we could pause on the htc hd2?
anyway you can tweak that?

I agree that this would be an awesome idea. that way, it will be like a real video camcorder without the manual edits on a computer!
Someone find a way to develop this1

[APP] lgcamera <<discussion>>

lgcamera - Android app that can be installed from Market. It offers the possibility to take video recordings with customized options. This app works on Wildfire (tested on nightly CM7) and if messing around with the app settings a bit, it can take videos of a higher quality then the default camera app.
This thread has the aim to inform you about this wonderful app and to encourage you to test and post here your settings/configurations.
Thank you.
Ok downloaded it now installing...Testing later reply tomorrow
EDIT: Ok well first impressions: yay no border .
For recording...what settings its best? it's record but not playing after...
I use Vignette, it works great, it does photos and video all from a full screen with no borders. I love it. Give it a try lads!

lgcamera surely can take better video recordings than default CM7 Camera app. (i specified it has been tested on CM7 nightly)
I'm aware that you were talking about cm7. Maybe the quality is better, but its still bad enough that I won't use it anyway (my fifth gen ipod nano comes handy here )
So I merely said that its of no use to me. (I find vignette far superior, although it lacks video recording)
this app is great for photo shooting but the zoom don't work on my phone

Auto Focus while recording video

Would it be possible through software update or custom rom / kernel to enable Auto Focus while recording video?
It's not the end of the world if we can't enable it, just curious. makes video of anything close pretty much useless.
I have noticed that autofocus does work when the software supports it.
For instance, Tango (video and voice calls) focuses automatically during a video call.
Also there's this software called lgCamcorder which supports autofocus while recording. But it doesn't work on our phone. Is there a way we can get this to work on our phones?

[Video] How to reduce camera refocusing during video recording

First...
If you already are aware that it's possible to stop the camera from refocusing during recording, then this post isn't for you...
BUT...
If, like me, you initially didn't realize this, or are currently considering Galaxy S III, you should know that you can stop the camera from refocusing during video recording. This has been a big source of complaints on latest smartphones with continuous autofocus that constantly adjust (and sometimes lose focus) during video recording, which can be annoying. Stopping autofocus during recording will give you complete control over what the phone should be focusing on. Check it out...

Question Best GCam port for the Motorola Edge 40 Pro?

Hello guys, what is the best GCam port for the Motorola Edge 40 Pro? If there is one, where can I download it? Thank you in advance
FYI I tested a lot of GCams 8.8.224 (the latest version as of now) and the only cam that doesn't crash is the Shamim SGCAM_8.8.224.10_STABLE_V9FIX. I will keep it becauseyesterday I was at a live concert and the stock camera microphone is a total mess (every video that I made has the audio extremely distorted, while the instagram camera doesn't have this problem, but the video are ****ty).
There are a few problems tho:
1- it is extremely slow when you click every button
2- without touching any settings, pictures and videos are worst than the stock camera
Let me know if that version works for you, and if so, which setting do you use to improve the camera quality!

Tried what you recommended but that gcam had too many problem. 4k 60fps recording just hangs never actually enabling. I'm satisfied with the camera, just wasn't happy with the speed it takes photos.

Have you tried to record a concert with the stock camera? You would get a super distorted audio (with every other camera app i don't have this problem). For now I keep it just to record live concert, but I know it has a lot of problems unfortunately

I don't go to concerts lol. Everything I've filmed has been fine on my end audio wise, I work in a relatively loud environment and the mic holds up about as well as any other phone.
