This is what Sprint LTE will look like on your phone - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

This guy managed to pick up a Sprint LTE tower in Athens GA on his nexus. Granted, he's the only one on the tower, and he's practically right on top of it, but damn.

I thought Sprint had their LTE towers locked down for the moment? Or is that just on the EVOLTE4GSTILLHTCNOT3DBUTGOODFORME?

Given it's going to light up by June, I'm sure Athens is lit for testing.
There are probably other areas as well in testing.

I thought we were going with E4GLE.
You will only see those numbers if you are the only person on your tower.

Where I live was a 4g test market for wimax so I am hoping it is for LTE as well... and now that it is confirmed the bootloader can be unlocked it is twice as hard to wait to get this beauty in my hand.

Well I'll be happy with 5mbps that's what I had on att and is really good as long as you get the same result everywhere that's my problems with sprint right now if I could get 1-2mbps I'll be happy

Lucky to all those who live near those juicy towers... PR hasn't even gotten 4G yet

i would drop comcast and use this phone as my modem.
thats insane.

Don't get your hopes up too much yet, this is their LTE in Texas...
It's still good but it's no 30 Mb/s

That's only cause he is probably the very few connected those are the max speed for 5hz channel. I expect it to be pretty much about the same as wimax speeds with better upload and maybe better latency. Oh and also with the same great battery drain.

Battery drain will not be there long as ur in a city with the sites active....just like Wimax if your connected you are typically fine. The drain comes from having to reconnect so often and search for signal...
Also the SoC will mediate decently the LTE as its built into the die so its not an extra chip sucking the battery like with Wimax...

First day to show off

Well today was the first day back to work after receiving my EVO 3D. Of course everyone knows me and my thing for phones and they wanted to check it out. They wanted to see some YouTube videos they had been hearing about. Boy was that a joke, I couldn't even show this thing off! It won't even make it through a video without it stalling. I'm not sure what to do now, love the phone but with data that barely works, this smartphone is useless to me. I kept my EVO 4G just in case but I really want to be able to use the new phone, not sure what to do...wait on HTC or return. I really hope HTC does something fast!

Oops didn't mean to thank you lol.
Anyway my connection is just fine...I can watch youtube videos on anywhere on 3g with no problem
Are you sure it isn't sprints overloaded network that isn't failing? Mine does fine.
Not having issues but YouTube does prompt you that WiFi will be the best connection since 3D videos use the most data. You can try this alternative.

I have the same issue, I'm hoping I don't have to return it. It really growing on me, but the you tube issue bothers me.

I had the same problem. I was only gettung 25k dL speeds. I tried everything. even returned the phone for another, only to have the same problem. (at least my new one didnt have dirt trapped under the screen). I ran across a way to boost your download speeds by changing the proxy settings. Right after I did this mod it was a little better. Then I rebooted and now im getting consistant 1600k downloads in 3g.

Is possible where I live. there is no 4G. Now, At peak times it probably wont work to well, but I'm not really watching too much 3d content. I've been showing the green hornet to people, that's about it.
I really hope this is a radio issue rather than the network since the Sensation suffers from a similar issue. Speedtest results are pathetic for me (70kbps average and some rare 250kbps... Hurray!!) and coming from TMobile with speeds over 6mbps its just sad. Hope HTC addresees this soon. Glad i have wifi at home

lol, yeah you're right, but even 2d vids stall!
So I just got back from the Sprint store and they had signs up at the repair counter saying there was 3g problems. Kinda weird because the EVO 4G has no issues. Who knows, I'll wait it out longer and see if it improves, annoying though.

Download speeds

Any one get or find an fix for this issue. I mean this is so horrible. Sitting right next to an 3g att phone same speedtests that phone gets an avg of about 2.5 down. Mine is much worse. And I'm in a 4g area. At this same location my artix got like 6 down most of the time. And I'm lucky to even pull 2 down with this phone.wtf

For whatever reason the Speedtest app dosent seem to go over 2/3MBs. Open up your browser and test your speeds... they will be much higher.
The app only shows me getting about 2.5 down, yet when I open up the browser and go to http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ it shows I get about 7/8 down.
Using http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest, I get about 2-3Mbps in the SF Bay Area.
Yeah my download speeds are horrible too. Every now and then though, I get decent speeds. Just now I got 5-6 mbps down on both the speedtest app and speakeasy.net in the New Brunswick, NJ area. Honestly, this isn't much better than my Captivate.
Sent from my SGS II.
I've never experienced "4g" speeds. And like others have said, captivate was much faster.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Sitting in full H+ I got the following, one with app, one on speakeasy. The app saw higher upload, speakeasy saw higher download.
I definately see at least 50% better speed compared to my captivate. On the same general area I never saw higher than 1.6, and averaged closer to 1.2.

Definitely makes a difference for me when running speed tests through the web browser opposed to using the Speed Test App. Sometimes 10 times faster through the browser.
I just got 8 down and 1.5 up in Cape girardeau missouri and thats about what ive been getting each time i test.

That is what I get at work in North San Diego (Rancho Bernardo). I only get 2.5Mb/s at home on DSL (no cable where I live) so I was happy that I got that on a phone.
I can usually get 5-8 down in Boise, ID, but never more than 1.2 up, I've heard it's throttled and not supposed to exceed 1.5 any truth to that?

Exactly this. I mean, do we really need one of these threads a week now?
I think they are just above boost and metro pcs, but I bet that the same threads exist about every carrier.
Take a look at Sprint's stock. They can promise the moon but not deliver. If it's to good to be true it usually is. Stock symbol is S.
hope it works out for you huskers

After you get your mom to change your diaper, just man up and cancel your service. Yeah, it will cost you a couple hundred...but if they suck so bad then it would be worth it. However, this is the XDA Developer's Forum. Not the "I'm a little ***** that needs to cry about everything cell phone related" forum. Now, don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out.

Ever think it has something to do with the network in your area?
Sent from my HTC Rezound via Tapatalk
I don't think so, but if it was, Well AT&T looks nice. I called tech over and over and they all said network was fine in my "area".
It could be due to useing 20-30GB every time, but I used 22GB on AT&T's unlimited plan and never had this happen.

This month I'll use over 50gb, last month 15gb and averaged about 3gb per month over the last 4 years. I'm unlimited with a hotspot. It almost seems like I'm being throttled. That's BS if that's the case since I pay about $70+ a month for Internet on two phones.
KORM via the beast known as the Rezound.
Forgot to add it usually hit speeds between 8-12gb but this month I'm seeing a lot of 3-5gb and a lot of dropped signal. Haven't had that problem before at least not like this. Curious to see what happens as soon as I start my next pay cycle.

AT&T LTE correct speed?

I just noticed yesterday I am now getting the 4g LTE icon lit up on my phone in my area(very pleasant surprise) and the speeds don't seem that great though. I've traveled through LTE areas before and the speeds were 4x to 8x this fast. Could they still be tweaking it? Thanks for any input.

Yeah that's not fast, but it's not slow either. I get an average of 20mbps download on lte. Bit it varies from time of day, to objects in the way, and take into consideration how many people are using the tower you're on.
That's normal speed when they are first turning up and testing the frequencies give it a week or two and see if it improves

They must be testing it. I go from LTE to 4g to Edge in just a few seconds without even moving. They're definitely doing something because I was getting LTE service inside my workpkace where I previously got no signal at all. Plus, I was showing LTE at times today and couldn't load anything web based:screwy: I hope it does get faster.

The 3 times I have been in an area when they are doing tower upgrades it does exactly what you just described. It will go faster once they finish it.
AT&T turned on LTE here a few months ago and it's no faster than HSPA was, not even per tower... like at work I would see 12mbit down, at home 4mbit.. It hasn't changed. I've been told latency and other things are better but I never paid attention to them in the past.
