[Q] Browser Long press "Share Image" Option on Sense v3.5 and above - HTC EVO 3D

So I’ve Installed a few of the new ICS Sense based ROMs and I love them but the only issues I have with them is with the new HTC Sense browser. It appears some features were removed. One feature in particular that I use very often is the “long press” share as options. For those of you not familiar with what I’m speaking of, while web browsing and you’ve stumble upon a image that seems super interesting and cool and you want to share it with friends. All you have to do was long press on the image and four options would popup. “Save Image” “View Image” “Set as Wallpaper” & “Share Image”. Once you click on “Share image” you can select your favorite MMS/SMS app and the image instantly shows in the edit text box. Not a link to the image to where its stored online but a actual thumbnail view of the image would be inserted. I really enjoy this feature because sometimes it’s a pain to save file, go into the gallery, search thru the gallery to locate the image, then to pull up the option to share it. It’s super convenient to share the image with 1 or 2 steps vs 4 to 5 steps by selecting the “Save image” option.
So, my question is how can I a. Install a HTC Sense 3.0 browser on one of the new ICS Sense ROMs, I’ve tried to install the browser.apk but no luck. It will not install and run. Or B. How can I implement the long press “Share Image” option into one of the new ICS Sense ROMs.
Thanks A million.

I don't know if you are in love with the sense browser, but there may be another browser (like Dolphin, Boat, etc) that has this feature.

Thanks coal686
I forgot to mention in my original post that I've tried both Opera and Dolphin and neither one of those browsers give the option to "Share Image" or anything of that sort when long pressing on the image.
Unlike Sense 3.0, that option is available. (see attached image)
Is there a way this feature can be implemented into Sense v3.5 and greater?

i heard that they removed the feature with ice cream sandwich. There is no getting it back. Its not on any manufacturer's browser. I missed the feature so much i went back to gingerbread.

from what i read, they removed the option to make sure they are not going to get sued by Apple. Just like they removed the local search from the galaxy nexus.

It's been 5 months since the last reply... any updates on this matter?
has anybody reached a reasonable solution?
I just got my One X+... i used to own a Desire HD before this, and I was perfectly happy with the old browser!!! (if possible, i'd like to install it on the one x+ somehow, if that will solve my "share image" problems... i should google to see if someone has uploaded the old browser apk somewhere and if it's "insatallable" even)
Rooting my phone is out of the question too. It's a brand new phone, and i don't want to risk bricking it, or not getting OTA updates.
I share images a lot, particularly during chat (Whatsapp), and having to download every single image, then go all the way to the gallery to look for the image and share the image is an extreme hassle, not to mention the fact that i later have to clean up the downloaded pix too!
let me go google for that Browser apk now!
Ya'll let us know if u find a solution to the sharing issue.
btw. One X+ came pre-installed with Google Chrome (browser)... that one doesn't have the sharing option either.

OMG! LOL. Great title, etc.
Anyway...this is quite a common issue not really specific to any one phone or rom. Flash has very little to do with whether a site is displayed as a mobile site or not. If you don't like having to to hunt for the "full site" link, here's a some options:
1) For stock browser (the one that's pre-installed), type "about: useragent" into the address bar, tap enter, go or whatever appears on your keyboard to execute it. Then, select "Desktop". Many (but not all) sites will display the non-mobile sites now. However, you may have to repeat this every time you run the browser since the setting doesn't persist across sessions.
2) Install a different browser from the market, run that browser, hit menu -> settings -> Change User Agent -> Desktop. The advantage here is that it will stay this way and not make you set it more than once.
If you want browser recommendations, the android market has reviews and this has been discussed often here so a search would probably yield much.

[Q] Things I would like to see in a browser, any help ?

Even 2 weeks with SGS2 I have troubles to get internet experience as I would like it (and as I expected it to be). Can anyone help me to answer at least one of these questions ?
1.) Are there some other browsers besides Opera Mobile that can do pinch zoom
with text reflow (and I mean exactly how it works in Opera Mobile) ? For
some reasons which go totally beyond me this feature seems to be
"uninteresting" for Android developers
2.) Are there some browsers where you can do fast switching between two
modes of opening links ? (like left click vs. mid click on desktop browsers)
mode 1: click on link = open in active window
mode 2: click on link = open on background in new tab
I need to be able to execute those opens in both modes very quickly which
means by single fast click, otherwise (e.g.: pressing link until popup is
shown) browsing feels terribly sluggish. For example good way of switching
between two modes could be by gestures ?
3.) Alternatively to second question - is there some other good way how to be
able to open fast in active window and also in background new tab (without
switching modes) ? E.g. double clicking on link = open in new tab... ?
4.) Currently I have about 11 web browsers installed and when I click on some
URLs in default browser (Miren browser as well) it will ask me
"Complete action using" with list of all installed browsers. Set default works
only for session its self at best. How do I get rid of it once and for all ?
How can I make it open in the browser from which it was clicked on ? (which
is like the only possible action which I think could ever make sense - so
again - this annoying "feature" of letting you choose which browser to use
goes totally beyond me Anyone can explain to me why someone
would like to have it like that ?)
5.) How can Samsung release default browser which seems to have major flaws
- like impossible to permanently set desktop mode without hacks ? (For a
supposedly best browser phone on the market - moreover the UA string for
desktop is actually not recognized as desktop on ALL web sites)
Checkerboards while scrolling ? No pinch zoom with text reflow (opera style)
? Most likely impossible to permanently set default action (see. 4.) with
multiple browsers installed (without hacks).
Does this mean Samsung doesn't care about the most important
application in the entire phone ? Does it mean it will stay like this also in
official future updates ?
6.) Is it possible to ask for some of this features "somewhere" with chances of
"someone" listening and implementing them ?

That's because the browser that came with the phone is still set as default. From your home screen, go to Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All (tab at the top) then find "Internet" on the list, click on it and in the bit that says "Launch by default" click on "Clear defaults". After that, whichever browser you select with the "complete action using" and provided you tick the set as default box underneath before clicking on it, will then stick as the default browser

Or I can do it myself, right ? Excellent. The thing is I am quite sure there are many more people that would appreciate e.g. "text reflow with pinch zoom" so I don't exactly understand why I should pay for development of overall useful feature like that - similarly if you had a web browser that doesn't have any way to input URL you could hardly say that if I want to enter URL I should pay for developing this feature. I consider pinch zoom text reflow to be essential on any mobile browser. Maybe not all people consider it essential but lot's of do. (and those who don't consider it essential would probably used it as well if it was an option in their browser)
Also - why do we have well defined actions on desktop browsers like left clicks and mid clicks (all major desktop browser have it like that) and on the other hand they don't have long press link popup menu with options "open in new tab" (no major desktop browser has it like that - because it would be slow and tedious) So if it makes sense to have those actions on desktop I don't see why it wouldn't make sense on mobile as well. Or why this should be a feature that I would need to pay for. (I don't need to pay for it on any desktop browser where it is a common standard for many years as tabbed browsing is etc.) If this feature is not viewed by majority as essential then I think either majority of users don't realize they would benefit from it or they genuinely don't need it (in which case that would be quite surprising to me - due to fact it is so common on desktops)
At last: regarding Samsung - I have already payed for the phone for which I expect the stock browser to work and I don't think that impossibility to permanently set desktop mode or checkerboards when scrolling qualifies as an OK working product. In this case I am quite sure it is not up to me to pay more money to get right what should have already worked at the moment I purchased the phone. Btw if the stock browser would work OK I wouldn't need any other browser to replace it. (nor to pay for the development process as you suggest)

Thanks - I wanted to be able to always open link in whatever browser I clicked on it - not just to set default browser. (because e.g. Miren browser also shows this pop-up menu and also uses application set in there). Something like that should be possible right ? However now (following your advice) I was at least able to set Internet as "default" and for reasons unknown to me now it will stick as default even after reboot). Yet to make all "Internet" links open in "Internet" and all "Miren" links to open in "Miren" somehow doesn't seem possible (without pop-ups). For now it's quite OK to have at least "Internet" links open by "Internet".
However here is again my favorite desktop analogy:
If on desktop PC I couldn't make open links in the same browser they were clicked on - the PC would probably very soon ended up being thrown over the window. So either I am stupid and there exists some easy and totally obvious solution how to do it on Android or otherwise the whole thing is just absurd.
Hello, does the absence of answers mean that 1.) indeed can not be enabled on any other browser besides Opera Mobile and 2.) can not be done on any Android browser ? And so on...
Or does it mean that none knows / doesn't care ?

Probably no one thinks it is that important. Since you have 11 browsers installed i think you are probably the best qualified person to tell others which browser supports what. If i make a poll, i doubt more than 1 % of the galaxy s 2 users have more than 4 browsers installed. You might get a place in Guinness Book World Records with 11

Interestingly I thought the most important feature on the phone was the ability to make a receive calls...

[Q] Look familiar? You decide.

So I've watched the ICS Motorola Webtop Beta 3.0 video and it may be me but it looks very similar to the Evo Desktop PC in concept and function. Considering that ICS wasn't even available this time last year this would have been the logical progression of the project. I'm not asking for Moto to send me a check but I'm waiting to see how the credits roll out. If the Sun here on Mars has baked my brain then feel free to say so.

So are you going to send it on their behalf?
Actually I've been in contact with Moto since the videos surfaced and am getting the "hot potato" treatment. All I'm looking for is to have a civil dialog with them about it. All I'm getting is being told I need to contact Department A by Department B after just being directly referred to Department B by Department A. I have even gone so far as to include the direct referral and names in my communications. You probably have a good idea as to how well that's working.
The odd thing is that with 200+ views nobody has said I should have my head checked. Is everybody on XDA being nice?
Interesting question, locki. Definitely a fair one. If I understand correctly, from watching the video (I had the volume down - A cold and a headache coming down so I'm trying to minimize the noises). In any case, your version looks to me like phone mirroring with a keyboard and a mouse. Not sure how it's set up (you probably said it in the video). But I don't think the ICS demo is a complete demo. This looks like he just reviewed the phone mirroring version, but didn't do a complete webtop review. Also, webtop on the current system is also pretty limited. From that video, I don't see much difference between the ICS and what we have on our phone, except that this is a proof of concept. In any case, you could say the same thing about a comparable presentation from the webtop experience on the mopho if you only show the the phone window usage. could also say the same thing about your ubuntop if you only show a limited version of the capabilities. I guess my point is I don't think you have a fair comparison at this point. But my head is stuffy and I am on my way to an early bedtime, so maybe I'm missing something...
I replaced the video of webtop 3.0 with one that shows webtop3.0 in use. I also have a copy of the ICS RAZR leak and osh (or anything related to that partition) is nowhere to be found. Neflix is obviously Netflix for tablets. The desktop look of Chrome appears to be a ui switch for the mobile chrome browser. If the ICS leak is anywhere near what the official release is, then the tech/android reports are correct that the new webtop is nothing more than modified tablet mode mirroring.
I'm not saying it's not good work. Had HCL Launcher, Chrome mobile browser and Netflix for tablets been out when I released Evo Desktop you would be hard pressed to tell the difference.
My other concern is if the leak I have and the videos are correct this does not bode well for Webtop becoming a true desktop with ICS like many had hoped.
So If I am understanding things correctly, the new webtop is just tweaked phone mirroring, as opposed to now where there are 2 operating systems running side by side. I guess ubuntop won't work on that system then. very disappointing.
As nice as Evo Desktop was there were tons of drawbacks. So I can tell you from experience that this is going to be a serious step backwards for "Webtop". Open up a mobile browser and visit a page that has flash based chat embedded. You cannot leave that page (view another page in another tab) because as soon as you leave the chat page tab everything gets suspended. When you go back to the chat page tab you have to log back in and start over.
Document editing will also be an issue as you have to use cloud based editors like Google Docs because to my knowledge none of the current office apps have that tablet switch needed change how the ui is rendered. When you combine this with the browser tabs issue and that Google Docs puts a fairly heavy load on the browser, you can say goodbye to any real doc editing.
What it comes down to is that many app devs are going to have to add the needed ui switch and changes to keep the new webtop from being trash. This will not be easy. I fought for months to just get a browser with a "desktop ui" look with no success. Even with thousands of users on the Evo project nobody would touch it. I ended up having to modify an existing browser to give my users a desktop look. Multiply that by how many commonly used apps that would need a ui switch and Moto is just asking for failure.
My other concern is what happens to the, now wasted, 1.3GB osh partition? The leak has no mention of it in the install script. It looks like it will still present but only accessible via vnc which has it's own issues and drawbacks.

[Q] Share Image With

Before buying my One X+, I used to own an HTC Desire HD.
In the Internet app, whenever I wanted to share a picture (say on Whatsapp, GMail, Viber or any other program) I used to long-press on the image, and from the popup menu, I would select "share image with", then from the new popup screen I would choose the program I want to choose said image from.
Now, with Jellybean, my only options are to:
Save image
View image
Set as wallpaper
or
Share link
no "share picture"
And unless I'm mistaken, this should be bugging a whole lot of other people too, as this is not limited to the Internet app, but the same applies to Chrome (where the only 3 options for an image long-press are "save, open or open in new tab"
Because of this, I now have to save the file, go to Whatsapp or to the Gallery app, select the picture, and share the picture, then when i'm done, i have to delete the pic from the gallery, because well... i don't like to pile up stuff i no longer need.
I searched the forum and the web, and couldn't find a fix for it.
Which is worse, either very little people are raising this issue, or I'm unable to find these posts... everybody with Jelly Bean is suffering from this problem, but Googleing for "share image with option directly from browser on Jelly Bean" doesn't really yield that many relevant results! The keywords are just too generic!!!
So my question is: Can this situation be remedied by some sort of add-on to Chrome Mobile, a custom apk that modifies Chrome's sharing options or something???
PS: I know I can share the URL of the picture, but that's not the point now, is it? I want to be able to share the picture, not its URL.
Update: I just installed Firefox Browser for Android, and it has the option to share an image directly from the browser! It's a pity I won't be using Chrome anymore since it's super fast and it allows for bookmarks sharing between my laptop and phone, but well... I guess I'll have to make do with Firefox for now.
I don't get it though... why would Firefox have the option enabled and Chrome be so retarded that way? Pity! Firefox even has an extension that allows for a full-screen experience, like with the Internet app!
Chrome needs to improve on these basic stuff real soon!!! For many, like myself, not being able to directly share images from the browser is a deal-breaker (as soon as I found a browser that could)

[VIDEO] Enabling Adobe Flash Player on the Browser (All HTC One Versions)

Sorry for the piss poor video. I was setting up the device and realized I didn't have flash enabled. That was too late to see if it was available from the overflow menu.
This video should help you get flash running if you didn't know how to already either way.
If this has been covered... oops. I did a search.
I've had this APK at flash.cricketusers.com for a little while. Ever since Adobe stopped supporting Android devices officially. Been away from the game for a little while so if anyone wants to chime in. Please do so.
NOTE: I'm pretty sure IIRC this is the same process that was used on the HTC Droid DNA.
EDIT: After unlocking the bootloader (essentially wiping the device), it appears that the option is available from the overflow menu on the stock browser already. No need to download additional apps.
