[Q] Share Image With - HTC One X+

Before buying my One X+, I used to own an HTC Desire HD.
In the Internet app, whenever I wanted to share a picture (say on Whatsapp, GMail, Viber or any other program) I used to long-press on the image, and from the popup menu, I would select "share image with", then from the new popup screen I would choose the program I want to choose said image from.
Now, with Jellybean, my only options are to:
Save image
View image
Set as wallpaper
or
Share link
no "share picture"
And unless I'm mistaken, this should be bugging a whole lot of other people too, as this is not limited to the Internet app, but the same applies to Chrome (where the only 3 options for an image long-press are "save, open or open in new tab"
Because of this, I now have to save the file, go to Whatsapp or to the Gallery app, select the picture, and share the picture, then when i'm done, i have to delete the pic from the gallery, because well... i don't like to pile up stuff i no longer need.
I searched the forum and the web, and couldn't find a fix for it.
Which is worse, either very little people are raising this issue, or I'm unable to find these posts... everybody with Jelly Bean is suffering from this problem, but Googleing for "share image with option directly from browser on Jelly Bean" doesn't really yield that many relevant results! The keywords are just too generic!!!
So my question is: Can this situation be remedied by some sort of add-on to Chrome Mobile, a custom apk that modifies Chrome's sharing options or something???
PS: I know I can share the URL of the picture, but that's not the point now, is it? I want to be able to share the picture, not its URL.
Update: I just installed Firefox Browser for Android, and it has the option to share an image directly from the browser! It's a pity I won't be using Chrome anymore since it's super fast and it allows for bookmarks sharing between my laptop and phone, but well... I guess I'll have to make do with Firefox for now.
I don't get it though... why would Firefox have the option enabled and Chrome be so retarded that way? Pity! Firefox even has an extension that allows for a full-screen experience, like with the Internet app!
Chrome needs to improve on these basic stuff real soon!!! For many, like myself, not being able to directly share images from the browser is a deal-breaker (as soon as I found a browser that could)

[Q] Some Web Sites won't scroll

I'm running my GTab using Vegan-Tab 7. Because of the screen size I decided to use the browser for accessing gmail and the other google web apps. However, I have formatting/scrolling issues with them. I've noticed this on a couple random (non-google) web pages as well though I can't remember them atm.
What happens, say for gmail is if I click on the profile dropdown the page will get too wide and I can't see the entire dropdown. The right side will be cut off until I reload the page. If I attempt to view the calendar I can't scroll down at all. If I use google maps I can't type the address in the field.
I believe this occurred in CM7.1 as well and using any browser (stock, dolphin)
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Were you able to tweak something to fix it?
When I have this problem with gmail, I zoom the page. Then I am able to scroll.
Not a solution, but a work-around.
You need to set your browser to view webpages either as android or custom. Right now, you have it set to viewing webpages as desktop.
@wasserkapf - thanks, that helps a lot for scrolling left and right...unfortunatly you still can't scroll up and down.
@goodintentions - ah, I see what that's doing... forces it to the basic html format. I found you can keep it on desktop and change google to standard html... but that doesn't help out with maps. Excellent web site btw... good background summary and nice list of resources. Really helped me out when I was getting started with this tablet.

[Q] Browser Problem

Hi,
I am trying out the Galaxy Tab and I find it to be rather nice to use. However, I have encountered an issue that I have not been able to resolve. I have a favorite web site that I go to at least once a day. It displays poorly with the text over writing other text, to the point it is almost unreadable. The default browser offers the option of Mobile or Standard. The site opens in mobile mode and so I selected Standard and the page gives we an error 404, if I remember correctly.
The other issue is, I need to open a link on the site page that displays a PDF document and another link that plays a MP3 audio file, while staying on the web page. The Galaxy Tab will not allow me to have both open. If I have the PDF file open, I can't get to the MP3 file. If I have the MP3 open, I can't open the PDF without closing the MP3.
I wonder if the site needs Java or some other software to make it display and function correctly? Any ideas what I could be doing wrong.
Strangely, My wife's iP#d1 handles this site with ease. Also, my Google Cr-48 handles it just fine. I am at a loss to figure this out. If I can't solve this problem, the Galaxy Tab goes back tomorrow as I am tired of messing with it.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
I've noticed a few pages the stock browser renders odd, such as quoted text here on xda. Opera mobile works fine, scrolls smoother, and doesn't have text input lag. I'd recommend it.
Thanks for your reply.
I tried Opera, Dolphin HD and Beta 6, Maxthon and of course the default, Chrome. They all produced the same result. So far, only Safari renders and allow the PDF and the audio file to run concurrently.
care to share the two sites hence we can try a work around. try typing the command about:debug in address and hit go. New options will appear in settings, try changing the uid to desktop and rendering normal and disable wide page display. Just for a try!

Thanks for the good tips. Those changes made the browser's display much better. It got rid of the garbled text. Question, will these changes remain after a re-boot or do I need to reset each time?
The other issue of not being able to have multitasking while on the subject site remains. The site that I am trying to fully access is www.torahclass.com. When I select the link to open the audio file and then open the PDF the audio quits. I cannot get back to the web page. If I am on the web page, I can't get back to the PDF.
I just spent one hour at Best Buy and they had five different phone/tablet knowledgeable staff take a turn a making it work. No luck! I asked if it would work on the HP TouchPad and their response was no. However, they claimed the multitasking could be done on the Playbook. We were not able to test their hypothesis due to the fact that the Playbook did not have access to their wi-fi.
So, I am beginning to think that this is an issue with Android and WebOS that remains to be solved by Google and HP. I like the Playbook, but I am concerned about RIM's future. Owners might end up with no support from the mfg.
Anyways, thank you both for your help.
try xiialive app, when clicking on an audio stream in browser choose to play with xiialive and once started press home and continue browsing with the stream playing in background! Issue resolved.
Works. Thank you.

Android Usability Gripes: How Easy are you finding to Share picture files

Talk about hassle, I can't even get the upload attachment to work in forums. The choose file button does not even work on this site. On another forum I get upload error.
I thought Google would at least make it easy to share picture publicly on the web, but i don't see anywhere the URL location of the pictures are at, nor is it easy to grab them from the browser interface. (i.e. 'copy image location' like found in Firefox on Mac/Windows browser)
If anyone could share their success stories, and ways that manage to easily share pictures on their tablet to the web it would be helpful.
easy. just use opera mobile. that's what I always use. like lets say you make a post here. then you want to upload a pic as an attachment. just scroll lil ways down n press manage attachments. then you will go to another screen with blank fields that above them say upload file from computer. Press the "choose" tab next to blank field. once you do a mini file explorer type thing will appear up top. you look through it and click on the one you want. it'll close and take you back to upload your file screen. Now you press upload. it'll upload your pic or file. then scroll down and press close window. it'll take you back to your page where making the post. just finish and press send reply. BAM, now you posted and attached s pic or whatever to it thru the prime. I do it all the time.
I attached a screenshot below of the upload your file screen just in case for reference and a pic of what you should see after you press choose in opera mobile.
This is just one of the many great things about Android. On my Ipad I had to jailbrake. then go to cydia to download a uploader mod for safari and a downloader mod. Stock Ipad n safari don't let you do this simple task that Android does out the box. my Ipad now jailbroken can do all the stuff android does but I had to hack it alot to be possible.

[Q] Browser Long press "Share Image" Option on Sense v3.5 and above

So I’ve Installed a few of the new ICS Sense based ROMs and I love them but the only issues I have with them is with the new HTC Sense browser. It appears some features were removed. One feature in particular that I use very often is the “long press” share as options. For those of you not familiar with what I’m speaking of, while web browsing and you’ve stumble upon a image that seems super interesting and cool and you want to share it with friends. All you have to do was long press on the image and four options would popup. “Save Image” “View Image” “Set as Wallpaper” & “Share Image”. Once you click on “Share image” you can select your favorite MMS/SMS app and the image instantly shows in the edit text box. Not a link to the image to where its stored online but a actual thumbnail view of the image would be inserted. I really enjoy this feature because sometimes it’s a pain to save file, go into the gallery, search thru the gallery to locate the image, then to pull up the option to share it. It’s super convenient to share the image with 1 or 2 steps vs 4 to 5 steps by selecting the “Save image” option.
So, my question is how can I a. Install a HTC Sense 3.0 browser on one of the new ICS Sense ROMs, I’ve tried to install the browser.apk but no luck. It will not install and run. Or B. How can I implement the long press “Share Image” option into one of the new ICS Sense ROMs.
Thanks A million.
I don't know if you are in love with the sense browser, but there may be another browser (like Dolphin, Boat, etc) that has this feature.
Thanks coal686
I forgot to mention in my original post that I've tried both Opera and Dolphin and neither one of those browsers give the option to "Share Image" or anything of that sort when long pressing on the image.
Unlike Sense 3.0, that option is available. (see attached image)
Is there a way this feature can be implemented into Sense v3.5 and greater?
i heard that they removed the feature with ice cream sandwich. There is no getting it back. Its not on any manufacturer's browser. I missed the feature so much i went back to gingerbread.
from what i read, they removed the option to make sure they are not going to get sued by Apple. Just like they removed the local search from the galaxy nexus.
It's been 5 months since the last reply... any updates on this matter?
has anybody reached a reasonable solution?
I just got my One X+... i used to own a Desire HD before this, and I was perfectly happy with the old browser!!! (if possible, i'd like to install it on the one x+ somehow, if that will solve my "share image" problems... i should google to see if someone has uploaded the old browser apk somewhere and if it's "insatallable" even)
Rooting my phone is out of the question too. It's a brand new phone, and i don't want to risk bricking it, or not getting OTA updates.
I share images a lot, particularly during chat (Whatsapp), and having to download every single image, then go all the way to the gallery to look for the image and share the image is an extreme hassle, not to mention the fact that i later have to clean up the downloaded pix too!
let me go google for that Browser apk now!
Ya'll let us know if u find a solution to the sharing issue.
btw. One X+ came pre-installed with Google Chrome (browser)... that one doesn't have the sharing option either.

Instagram multiple photo upload

When selecting the + to upload it doesn't load the instagram gallery viewer like in traditional android. It's like selecting "other" for the source on traditional devices. Therefore there is no option to load the layout editor or boomerang, which I believe can be open separately. However you also cannot do the option to "select multiple" to select multiple images or videos to add to one post. I understand the newer Windows app operates this way as well, and the features aren't there. However this is an Android os. Why doesn't it load normally? Is there a way to send multiple images to instagram to upload into one post?
Is it fixed? I'm in same problem..
