[Q] Can't install Titanium app at all - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, another thread about this glitch.
I am using ordroid 6.1 which has so minor glitches, like for instance the bluetooth will go on whenever i connect the usb cable to my computer! The bluetooth is off all the time but it will go on, does anyone knows about this?
I have been trying for the last 3 hours to install titanium backup to gain my backup apps, but i have no luck so far.
I read in this website that you need to go using apps called root explorer or ES Explorer to find a file titanium.opk and delete it. I have been using booth apps and i cant find tle damm file at all.
The phone is rooted, i checked using root check and the phone is rooted.
I dont know what going on, can someone help me out here?
Thanks a lot!

First you cqn use QtADB on your PC (or just mount your sd) to search for the file.If you cannot find it try installing Titanium Backup as a system app. You can do that by pushing it via adb or just copy/paste in /system/app

Is there a thread where i can see this? I am very new with this kind of stuff.
Thanks either way

The actual file you're looking for is com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup.odex in /data/app
Just delete and you should be fine. You can use Solid Explorer or Root Explorer, bot can be obtained from the market.

[Q] Cleanup

hi there i rooted my fone a couple of mins ago using the exploid method (026), it was a great success.., lemme go back to my question.., how can i clean up the apps that i don't need.,
in bin4ry's method (024) on step2 folder there's a file called cleanup.cmd i just have to edit it and run it.., it will remove all the unnecessary apps like the moxiersh*t on my (024) x10i..,
but when i used bin4ry's cleanup.cmd on my (026) is says "mount: operation not permitted"
i know they have different sources, but can somebody help me cleaning up my 026x10i?
any links?
Use titanium backup
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Did you use the donate or free version of Titanium Backup? I have installed the free version but i still could not figure out how to delete or uninstall unwanted programs. Care to share how you did it? Thanks
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
long press the app u want 2 delete
nooo i dont need titanium backup.., what i said is.., the CMD(command) file in the root that can cleanup the apps using the computer not the phone itself..,
Jus use the cleanup file.. don't mount your usb, make sure usb debugging is on n c what happens!
as for titanium backup, there's nothing wrong with it.. does the job!! plus the full version can b used to freeze apps to c how the rest of your phone would react if u had actually uninstalled it!!
Sent from my rooted 026 X10i using swype via XDA!!
hi i still can't delete from titanium(free version).it doesn't give me an option to delete.
and from the cleanup file it tells me rm failed.red-only file system
yet the apps are still there!!(moxier, quadrapop etc.)
am i doing something wrong?
Download busybox of market and c if that confirms your root privileges..
if so then go into titanium n try your luck again
Sent from my rooted 026 X10i using swype via Xda
use exploid 1.08, once rooted again, open exploid app again, click unsecure shell, rerun the cleanup cmd. u should now be read/write mounted...

Make sure you edit the cleanup.cmd so it doesn't remove stuff you might need or want to keep.

You just tap the app, as long pressing gives you a different menu.

If I remember correctly, what I did was uninstall it with TB, then using roorexplorer navigate to data/app and remove the apk, then went to app-private and removed it from there too.
thanks man, finally got rid of it!

Two questions :)

Hi I was thinking of buying titanium backup pro but I was thinking.. don't you lose it once you flash a new rom?
Also when I want to flash a new rom can I just flashover the other one with clockwork ? Im new
No you just download it again from the market after you log into gmail
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Thanks but how exactly? Because I flashed yesterday, logged back into my gmail. And no apparently were in downloads

Search for Titanium, and redownload. You can always redownload purchased apps after flashing or even uninstalling them, as long as you're signed in with the same Google account. You can also make an update.zip file within Titanium that will let you flash it back in to make restores quicker when you flash a new ROM.
Or you can do what i do which is anything that I purchase, make sure you save the .apk file not only on your phone but back it up to your desktop. That way you can reinstall Titanium immediately after flashing your new rom.
Okay thanks guys, but im kinda a noon soon how might I make the update.zip or save the apk to.my desktop if titanium the app itself is saved to the phone not the sd card?

If you have a rom saved to your desktop that already has Titanium then all you have to do is unzip and find the apk in there. I think its usually under /system/apps and /data/apps. Or...
You can use ADB. If you know the name of your app, this is the command:
adb pull system/app/titanium.apk c:\dir
Or to get a list of apps installed to phone:
adb remount
adb shell
cd system/app
ls
list the apps installed to the sd card:
adb remount
adb shell
su
cd data/app
ls
Titanium is different than any other paid app (at least this is how it used to work when I bought it.)
When I bought it, the author provided a text file that you placed in the root of you SD card that unlocked the pro version. That way, I just have to make sure that file's in my root dir and I can just download the free one from the Market (or install the APK) whenever I change ROMs. I don't have to worry about the potential that the Pro version doesn't show in the Market.
Does it not work like that anymore?
That version still exists, but you can also now buy it in the market.

That's good. I'd encourage anyone to use that method of purchase, if still possible.
That way, you're automatically upgraded to the Pro version, even if a dev provides the free one in a ROM, by installing from a backup APK, or just downloading the free one from the Market.

DLNA application

I'm currently running Eclipse 0.2.2 and am trying to reinstall the dlna application that came with the phone, but can't (using my titanium backup er... Backup). Are there any alternative apps that do the same thing, or is there a way to reinstall the stock dlna app? Thanks.
(I've tried a couple from the market but none of them can find my Tversity server)

Go here http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x2-hacks/27237-droid-x2-system-dump.html
Download the system dump zip.
Go into zip using root explorer( if I don't have it I recommend buying it its worth it)
go to system folder
go to app folder
Extract all DLNA apks and odex(s)
Go to extracted folder and select the files u just extracted
Move them to your system/app folder after u mount system as r/w using burton on top of root explorer screen.
Remount as r/o then reboot..it should be available now.
good luck
This should also work for other apks. I have been looking for a gingerbread dump if anyone could post that that would be great although I have had no problems installing any of these apks I've tried. Did the music camera toggle widgets etc and all worked no problems.
I will get you guys some of the stock apps and zip them up so they can be flashed.

Your tablet needs to be rooted to remove system apps. After that you should be able to use Titanium backup or any root explorer to remove the app.
Not working

Hi, I have already rooted my tab. When I try to use Titanium backup or Root explorer, it says that I cant remove the app because it's read only.
On a lighter note, I hate how my name has been "censored"

Interesting... Are you running a custom ROM, or stock? Second, when using Root Explorer, did you make sure to hit the itty bitty "Mount R/W" button at the top of the file list? Third, have you tried "freezing" the app with Titanium Backup instead of deleting, sometimes that works. Otherwise, you may have to try ADB to remove or rename the apk, or see if someone has a flashable zip for the custom maps apk you need.

[Q] Pulling an App

Could anyone tell me how I can take an app from my old MT4G and put it on my Amaze?
Apparently the app is no longer available on the Market and I don't like any of the other options.
Thanks for any help.
Can you not back up your app using Titanium Backup, move your backup to your Amaze and use titanium to restore that one app? I'm new to Android but seems like an idea..
Or you can use root explorer, browse to your system/data partition and look for the app_name.apk file if you downloaded it or system/apps if the app came with the phone and look for the same file and copy that file to your memory card and install it on your new device normally or by placing it in the same folder you took it it out from on the old phone, though you'll need root privileges to do that on the new device.

I don't see why that wouldn't work. I should have thought of that before.
Thanks. I'll give it a try now. Lol. I actually paid for TB I might as well use it.

I will try both ways. Would TB need root access on the new phone?

Depending if you're backing up the app+data or just the app, if it's just the app you won't need root access, but app+data will require root.

It's just the app, which if anyone is wondering is "Craigslist Notification".
One of the best free CL apps out there.
And I would know because I downloaded 6 different ones on the Amaze and didn't like ANY of them.
The ones with pictures had no prices, the one with prices had no pictures.
The ones that had both, had no "save" feature...so on and so forth.
So I still have the app on my old MT4G and just wanted to pull it off there and install it on the Amaze.
For some reason the app is no longer on the Market.
Thanks for all the help guys. I'm about to attempt to move the app now.
Will report back.
or if you have adb setup you can use:
Code:
adb pull /system/app/[I][COLOR="Red"]nameofapp[/COLOR][/I].apk
\
then you will find it in your computers user directory

So I'm back from the beach and burnt to a crisp BUT I got the app on my Amaze now!!! WOOT!!!!
Used Root Browser Lite on the MT4G to copy the apk from /data/app to /sdcard.
Then moved that apk on to my desktop.
Plugged in the Amaze and dropped it on the phone then used Astro File Manager to browse to the apk and install it.
Everything is working fine now and I have a copy of the apk on my computer if anything should ever happen.
Thanks a lot for all the help guys. I really really appreciate.
I can't live without this app. I LOVE getting deals on Craigslist.
And Dark, am I allowed to post the apk up?
I have the free version, so it's not a paid app.
Once it's a free app, there's nothing preventing you from posting it bro.
