Dumping partitions with android terminal or adb shell

You can do it only with root access
Code:

Backup boot.img to sdcard
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p14 of=/sdcard/system.img[/COLOR]
Backup system.img to sdcard

Working with stock recovery
Here is little tut for messing with the stock recovery...
Our recovery works with command file which we have to create manually and write command into it....
You need to enter following in adb shell
Code:
su
You have to execute next commands as root
Code:
echo 'boot-recovery ' > /cache/recovery/command
Make command file
Code:
echo '--update_package=SDCARD:update.zip' >> /cache/recovery/command
Write command for installing update.zip
Code:
reboot recovery
Command for rebooting in recovery mode
Now when phone reboot and try to install update.zip it will give error than press power button for second or two and it will bring up recovery menu

OK! So you can root the V10a but this way doesn't work for the latest update. I believe we must wait until someone can root the v10c... :s
EDIT: Suggestion @ BGDonLINE...Why don't you change the thread name to "LG Optimus L7 (P700) Development" so we can have an official thread for our phone? You can be the Godfather as you are the first to root the phone!!!

[xt10xx][CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch

Main thread + features + install instructions + dev support
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860
PhilZ Touch is a CWM Advanced Edition that adds all the features you could ever miss in CWM
It is a well proven recovery for many phones
It also adds a full touch interface a completely configurable GUI
Please give your feedback, what works, and any bug you could encounter
Read the features, and check if you are missing something
Also, do not forget to read about the powerful aroma file manager integration and double tap shortcut
Here is a note from the original thread's developer about what's coming or happening with this recovery and it's former relationship to CM11:
Originally Posted by Phil3759 View Post

I also appreciate all reports and debug about new versions
It is a huge work I started: moving to AOSP and completely break with CWM
CWM is now poorly supported. I do not want anymore to be relying on average developers pushing random commits at their taste
So, it is better to break and live with an own project
Compatibility: I will try to maintain it with TWRP and CM new recovery at some time
CWM: if a developer decides to revive it will just follow probably. So, we don't really care
I will be monitoring it and try to keep compatibility if it ever has a future

Note from the contributor trying to help keep things up to date (Hachamacha, so you know who to blame):
I've switched to the new and not really debugged GHOST unified build because msm8960dt is no longer in the tree, should cover the Maxx and Ultra and Mini as well. Until then, try these builds if you like. Remember you can always revert to a working image over on goo.im if you need to either by flashing it from the recovery, or by using the .img file provided below, and flashing from either fastboot or flashify.
Just added the 6.58.7 build which is working for me but since it's new you'll need to leave debug logs if needed (see main thread) and has a number of enhancements: You can download from the usual spot in either .img or .zip format. Actually I'm not sure if that's true because the usual spot probably won't be named msm8960dt, rather "ghost" any longer. Just check out my recent (today) post in the main thread and see what the upshot was.

Excellent work! Thanks a lot! Especially for OTG support in recovery!
EDIT: Just made backup and restore from nandroid using OTG (external SD card) - phone works as expected!
Any chance of having a mirror of the downloads?
I have an xt1058 and goo.im gets blocked on my work firewall
Update 6.09.8
- US Cellular (xt1055)
- Sprint (xt1056)
Refresh goo.im in a while
Not seeing the download link for xt1056 on the page.
I believe he said he needs to refresh it first.^^

Thanks to @Matoxxi for the banner
Don't quote the whole post!
Hello XDA,
Our little player didn't got any attention from Samsung, they said it has "too low specs".
They may be right, but that doesn't mean we'll have to throw it away, so
I'm proud to present you: Android 4.4.3 for your Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6!
Official discussion thread (Q&A, News, Tricks,...) -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2769281
Features
- OpenGL Hardware acceleration
- Open GLES 1.1 & 2.0
- Audio effects
- Vibration support
- Access to internal and external storage
- FM Radio support
- All senors working:
- Geomagnetic sensor
- Accelerometer
- Compass
- More battery-saving than stock
- Button Backlight Notifications
All features from AOSP 4.4 (Read here: http://www.android.com/versions/kit-kat-4-4/) and CyanogenMod 11 (Read here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/About)
Note
We're running CM11 on the stock kernel (from opensource.samsung.com), which is able to run CM11 and contains a lot of fixes and improvements.
It won't run as stable as a 3.x kernel, but it's doing what it should be.
Some things (mostly improvements) aren't working correctly (ION, HWC,...) because of missing kernel drivers..
The ROM is actually in a very, very early development state, that means:
- Random crashes
- Some apps may not work correctly (or won't start)
- It's not very smooth
CyanogenMod 11 is still under development and not made for daily use yet.
Not Working
Camera
Internal memory
External memory
zRAM
USB access
WiFi (near to fix)
Bluetooth
Dual boot to recovery

Bugreports
I'm only able to improve this ROM if I get bugreports.
A bugreport must include:
- a logcat (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_debugging_with_logcat)
- Things you were doing
- Version info
A bugreport without a logcat is useless!

FAQ
Check out this comprehensive HELP INDEX which will help answer your questions.
Got "No SDCard" error?
This is because 4.4.x seems to point to: storage/emulated/0 & L points to: data/media/0
Solution:
- Mount system in TWRP/CWM
- Wipe system, dalvik, data, cache
- Unmount system
- Install ROM
- Factory reset
- Reboot
- Go back to recovery & flash SuperSU (link above).
- Reboot
Still not resolved? try:
Open terminal and type
su
restorecon -FR /data/media/0
or type
su
restorecon -r /data/media/0/*
Still not resolved? back everything up and flash the userdata.img (erases your SD card)
Does Titanium Backup work?
Titanium backup and other similar apps do not work 100% on L... as expected.
How do I restore my user apps?
You can restore your apps using this method:
- While on a 4.4.x rom, go into TB > batch actions > recovery > 'create update.zip...' > select user apps
- Install L > flash the update.zip
- Done!
I get a "failed" error when flashing ROM
You did not unmount system or it got re-mounted automatically. Reboot your recovery > unmount system > flash ROM
SMS/MMS not working?
SMS & MMS is related to your APN and not the ROM. Check that.
Can I flash this over my 4.4.x rom?
Yes, but do a clean install
OMG x app is not working?
That's expected - a lot of apps need to be updated to be compatible with L
OMG xPosed is not working?
No, it's not compatible with ART which is the default runtime on L
Can I flash a custom kernel?
Yes, thanks to @eng.stk

But installing L version i can flash a kernel? Root is possible?

Root E2306 M4 aqua Guide

So I've been working on trying to get my phone rooted for a while and finally got it working after a few threads and trial and error so i thought i'd share my findings.
So to root your E2306 (Xperia m4 aqua) you will need:
Stock rom: https://userscloud.com/vaqpt1y0xdnu
Rootkit: https://www.dropbox.com/s/edse0h6b02odzn1/rootkitXperia_E23xx.zip?dl=0
Adb: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0MKgCbUM0itNVB1elljU2NPR0k
Flashtool: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
And Finally Twrp installer (If you want a custom bootloader): https://www.dropbox.com/s/yomdwq3p2le9hvi/M4Aqua-lockedTWRP-0.1-installer.zip?dl=0
1. Go download all of the items listed.
2. Install ADB using Installer.
3. Install Flashtool.
4. Run flashtool and click devices then check drivers and make sure your phone shows up.
5. You will need to install phone drivers using flashtool, go to C:\Flashtool\drivers and run Flashtool-drivers.exe
6. Check "Flashmode Drivers" and "Fastboot Drivers" then click install. If a red warning or something shows up saying drivers not safe click install anyway.
7. Now check drivers again and your device should show up.
8. Next copy E2306_26.1.A.1.112_Latin America Generic[WwW.SonyROMS.iR].FTF to C:\Users\(YourUsername)\.flashTool\firmwares
9. Now go to flashtool and click the lightning strike called "Flash Device".
10. Chose "Flashmode" and click "OK".
11. Setup as shown and click flash.

(APPS_LOG and USERDATA)
12. The log will say preparing files for a bit then a window will open up saying to turn off device and plug it back in. Turn off your phone then hold the volume down while plugging the micro usb back in.
13. The LED will go green showing that its in flashmode, the device should then flash the new rom.
14. Once done disconnect usb and reboot, the boot may take a while 5-10 min.
15. Once booted go to Settings -> About Phone -> then click the build number until you unlock developer mode.
16. Go into developer options and enable "USB Debugging".
17. Plug the phone back in and extract "rootkitXperia_E23xx".
18. Now Copy "files", "src" and "install.bat" into C:\adb.
19. Run install.bat as normal (Not admin) and a box will pop up on your phone asking to trust pc. Do trust pc and let the install.bat continue.
20. The install will say invalid socket, rebooting to avoid crash. Let the phone reboot while staying connected to pc.
21. The phone should boot and the install will finish.
22. You should now have root.
Guide for Custom Recovery (DO ROOT FIRST)
1. Remove "files", "src" and "install.bat" from the ADB folder.
2. Copy the "files", "src" and "install.bat from "M4Aqua-lockedTWRP-0.1-installer" into C:\adb
3. Run install.bat and it will ask for root on phone, grant it root and it should install.
4. To boot into recovery shut down phone and power it on. The phone will show a blue LED at the sony logo. Click volume down and it will show a Purple LED and boot into TWRP.

The root disables updates. If you update it removes root.

But I downgraded from E2363 to E2333 can't I get back???
Those are two different models of phone. If you are rooting a E2363 then you need a Rom for that. Check your about phone. Does it say what model you have?
I used to have E2363 but I downgraded to E2333 and rooted using roottoolkit
That's the actual phone model? There's a piece of paper in the sdcard spot. Pull it out and look for the model number there.
the image is not showing in the tutorial
Thanks mate!
Everyone who has another type of M4 Aqua can do this too!
Just use an old firmware for your device (in my case E2303).
I used 26.A.2.128 and followed every step.
Thanks @boho555 !!! :good:

Tick only the two(?) wipe options. Don't pick others or it will result in a bootloop.

Try this firmware https://userscloud.com/p4m0v8k4czmf
Also "ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device" this means you don't have the drivers installed. Check C:\Flashtool\drivers and run flashtool drivers.exe
Then choose "Flashmode" and "Fastboot" drivers then install.

Alright, the firmware your downloading is the only one that will work for your device. However that error seems driver related. Try installing drivers off your phone. (Settings->XperiaConectivity->UsbSettings then switch on "Install software". Then plug the phone in and check the notification bar for a notification to install software.)
Firmware link?
I've been tring to get this to work on my E2306 with no joy for several days now. I'm getting bootloops after flashing the firmware from original post.
I have also downloaded it from two other sources and would always get to the same result.
By the way, it would show in Flashtool when you select the file as being buit for the D2306 (not E2306) !!
So would anyone have another link for the firmware *A.1.112 for E2306 ???
