Back to GB - HTC Rezound

Just a quick question, can't seem to find a definite answer when searching..
I am on the 3.14 leak, can I run the ph98img.zip back to the 2.11 official release?
I am on the 2.21 hboot and have s-off
Thanks,
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium

yes

Thanks for the quick reply, however I just checked and I am on the 2.25 hboot with the 3.14 leak. Can I still ph98img.zip back to latest GB OTA?

Yes. S-off means you can flash anything/everything.

Find a froyo build for the rezound, and flash that.

Just run the RUU of whatever firmware you want to be on. That should fix it

[Q] flashing new hboot

Just S-Off'd my friends rezound and the process didn't give us an option to flash the new hboot after s-off was achieved. What's the safest/proper way to flash the jb_hboot?
Also he has the leaked firmware, but is running a GB rom...does this mean we use the ICS hboot?

Same happened to me. I flashed mine in hboot when I did it. If he's on the leaked firmware, he can use the ICS hboot.

S-OFF and the 3.14.605.12 OTA

Hi guys.
So I am getting a Rezound on Monday and I plan on doing S-OFF overtop the official ICS OTA.
But I don't want to mess up the phone. Has anybody tried S-OFF with the 3.14.605.12 OTA?
Any replies are appreciated.
Best regards,
Sam

JuopunutBear s off is for the 3.14.605.5 leak, but that leak has the same radios as the ota.
I personally used the s off method while running 3.14.605.10 firmware with no problems so I don't see why the ota version wouldn't work

You truly don't NEED s-off to get most of the roms to work while on the OTA firmware. Although, the phone will come with gingerbread. I say keep s-on/no root for like a week or 2 just so you can work out any kinks if you get a bad one. Also yes at this point, our current s-off procedure cannot really be patched up.
I think it should work with 3.14.605.12 also. I performed s-off being on 3.14.605.10

Do you mean you can't go back S-On? Because yes you can. There's a thread in the dev section about it; it's just a fastboot command ("fastboot writesecureflag 3" or something like that).
Like the others have said, you should be able to S-Off when on the OTA since it has the same radios as the .5 and .10.
Thank you for your replies guys. I appreciate it. Do any of you recommend stock or an ICS rom to flash? I haven't had a HTC since I had a OG Droid Incredible (awesome device) so Ive been out of the loop for a while now. Lol.

No. You misread, It will be Verizon's failure if they attempt to patch up the s-off wire trick. Sorry I give more info than what's needed. For the OTA & S-off is concerned. Yes the current procedures work with the OTA's firmware.

Oh, I get what you mean now. You mean the vulnerability used to gain S-Off cannot be patched, at the moment. Yeah, misread that initially, my bad.

[Q]Can you flash a stock RUU if you are running the latest leak?

Im running Nils ICS Sense using the latest leak. I am S-On and obviously rooted/unlocked. Can i relock bootloader, and then flash the official stock RUU? I thought i heard you cant go back to stock from a leak, just curious. Thanks
Relock bootloader and you should have no trouble.
Stick on your SD and flash in bootloader.

That will bring you to stock, you don't have to be stock to flash it. Just re lock your bootloader to run it.
And that is the global Leak, the latest and greatest.

Here's a link to the last RUU that was what the official OTA was, if you are not wanting to use anything that is a leak:

No. Roms don't include radios or any other firmware. You'd have to relock and RUU to get the radios. And if you want the 3.16 radio you'd have to take the OTA.

Since you relocked, I'm assuming you know how to use fastboot. Go to here and download the RUU 3.15.651.16 - HBOOT 2.09 from the right. This will give you an RUU.zip. Throw that in your fastboot folder on the pc and follow step 8 and 9. This will run the RUU and put you in 3.15 Stock.

If you take the 3.16 OTA, only the newest version of TWRP (2.4.1.0) will work. And the only roms you'll be able to use are those that use 3.16 as a base. Any other base and the touchscreen might not work.

That's the radio for 3.16. It's the latest.
I am have to laugh at the original poster now. I don't want to go through the hassle of getting s-off! But now look at all the hassles you have. S-off is an easier and less hassle procedure!
