headset icon on all the time..no speaker - HTC Rezound

Basically the headset icon at the top is on and the phone thinks I have a headset plugged in so the only way to talk is to put it o n speaker phone.
Anyone eleven have this issue or do I have to get a refurbed replacement?

There's probably crud in your headphone jack. Clean it out with a q-tip that's got a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol on it. Obviously turn your phone off first.

Are you running a custom Rom? Rooted ?
If so, I suggest fist wiping and reflashing a Rom.
If on a new flash u are still having the problem, I would assume hardware problem.
Inspect the Mic jack, look for debris, plug.in a headset, u should be able to tell if there is something inside.
If all of that fails, call 611 and get a replacement.

Not rooted, already tried a wipe, tried inserting headphones and they work but the icon stays on after removal.
Going to take a closer look inside the jack and clean it.

Yeah, this is a pretty common problem. Not with this phone in particular, but phones in general. All that lint'n'stuff in your pockets. You can also use vodka, if you have some of that around.

Cleaned it really well but didn't see anything that would keep it from working right.. still broken so I gotta exchange it.

Compressed air.

Tried everything.. no dice

I had this exact problem. I ended up exchanging under warranty. Odd thing was the day I sent it back it stopped doing it, I sent it in anyway and just told verizon it was intermittent and random. That was a few months ago and my new one works fine.

Dropped my phone into the water and need some help!

Title says it all folks lol. I almost fully submerged my poor Eris, and to my suprise, almost all was well. My only problem is that my Eris thinks that there are headphones plugged into it when there isn't thus rendering my phone silent in everything the speaker would play. Now fortunately for me, under the cyanogenmod settings there was an option in the sound section to always play certain things on the speaker, an override if you will. This fixes my problem for notifications, calls and alarms. Still, I was wondering if there was a way to permanently overide the fooled headphone jack completely so I didn't have to use speaker phone on calls to hear anything and so I can play music and videos again. Any help would be terrific. Thanks in advance!

Pull the battery and bury the phone in a bowl of rice (uncooked) for a couple of days. It should help remove any moisture left.
Sent from my CELB ERIS using XDA App
The rice probably won't do anything at this point. You're screwed. The one thing you don't do when you drop your phone in the water is turn it on. If you ever get your phone that wet you immediately pull the battery and let it dry.
Basically your warranty/ everything is voided so I suggest you try opening the phone out and using compressed air to blow out anything that may be trapped inside.
I didn't use rice although I know you can. I actually did what you said Hungry Man. Pulled the battery and let it sit out in the sun for a couple hours. When I first turned it on after that, I noticed the headphone symbol popping up and disappearing a few times, and then it just stuck. Do either of you know more about what cyanogenmod does to overide the headphones? My guess is that if It can be done with a few sounds, it can be done with all of them.
I do know my warranty is voided. That's fine tho. I have the monthly insurance that covers water damage, but the phone is fine, so I might as well open it up. Ill need to fond a tiny star key though lol.

Simular Issue
I can relate, I recently rooted my Eris and have been toying around with some roms. Somewhere along the way my phone started to think that headphones are constantly plugged in. Extremly frustrating! Have tried new roms, re-flashing, etc. but nothing helps. May need to try that rom you've been using to compensate. Any suggestions would be great!

Call speaker not working?

When I make a call I cant hear anything. They can hear me fine, speaker phone works fine, but the ear speaker nothing. Sometimes it will cut in and out. Ive flashed Alien, pieCrust and still same issue on both ROMS.
If I hit the phone and smack it around it doesnt cut in and out which would usually be a loose cable.
Has anyone had this issue? I hope its not failing. Let me know if anyone can help.

Try flashing a stock 2.3.4 and wiping all data. If that doesn't fix the problem, then unfortunately it's a hardware issue.
If you are under warranty they should replace the phone no probs. If you are not, you can try fixing it yourself as it's either a loose cable or a speaker failing (there should be replacement speakers for sale somewhere).
From what I heard, Atrix is very easy to disassemble, though I personally hope I won't have to do it.

I work on cell phones, mp3 players, tvs, pc's, laptops, pretty much anything electronic for a living so not scared at all to open her up. But I just want to make sure its not software before I do anything.
When I flash a fresh rom it will work for a split second too maybe 10 seconds on the first call then cuts out and wont work at all afterwards, which is wierd. If it was hardware the fresh ROM should not do anything.
I know this is old, but it started to happen to me too. Has anyone managed to find a solution?

Sgs 2 stuck in handsfree mode

Hi all,
I am having the weirdest problem here and need some advice. Tried the search function but came up empty, although it seems by googling that other people have faced it. Problem is that none of the following helped.
Out of the blue my phone thinks that the handsfree jack is used at all times.
So, when i actually use the handsfree all is ok.
When i unplug it i still get the headphones icon on the notification bar and every sound except ringtones is routed to the headphones jack so i have no sound at all.
Tried:
Flashed stock rom, other developers roms, and every piece of kernel i could get my hands on. Of course in the process i did the proper wipes from the cwm menu.
Factory reset.
Sound test through the *#*#0673# menu.
Plugged - unplugged the headphones like 100 times.
Cleaned the headphones hole with cotton bud.
Applied force to the walls of the headphones hole with the jack plugged in.
Took it to a tech friend of mine who took the whole thing apart and tested almost every piece of hardware to his personal handset..everything works as it should.
For now the plan is to keep pluging unplugging the handsfree till it works. I will do that because one time it actually played music from the speaker for a couple of seconds... Unfortunately it then started using the headphones again.
I could really use some help here from the gurus PLEASE.
Thanks in advance
Alex

As for sammys service i cant really go anywhere near them after what i have put my phone through

Speaker noise?

Alright, so I'm on Notorious ROM right now, but no matter what ROM I try, the thing I'm about to explain stays the same.
You know that tone you hear when you press the volume buttons in the home screen? To change the ringtone volume... It's all clear when that happens. By clear I mean no LOUD noise is coming out of the speaker. Only one thing. When you press the up/down volume buttons in the homescreen, or when "Audible selection" (under Settings -> Sound) is checked and you touch the phone (you know, some tone is being played)... I can hear a background noise like that fuss you hear on a Radio when it's not tuned right. It's not loud, but it's there.
But whenever I play a media (movie, game, I don't know), I hear a constant noise coming through the speaker. You know, like a FM radio isn't tuned right... just WORSE. For example, I play a game with the lowest volume - it sucks.
Can you try this for me, please? Put yourself in a quiet room and start a game or a musical or something, and turn the volume to the lowest. See if you can hear that... If you can't, put the speaker next to your ear.
I really am looking forward to your feedback. I'm starting to believe it's a hardware issue, but a software one, as well (otherwise that noise wouldn't be heard only when media is played). PLEASE !
Many phones will do this when they are plugged in and charging. Is it doing it when your phone is running on battery only? If that is the case you can always buy a filter for your AUX cord.

Thats what I figured...But the Aux cord filter that he was talking about is only for using a cable to connect the phone to the line in of another device. I tried it over and over again and the only thing I hear is my music (very softly because i turned it down as low as I could). My friend has an atrix too and he could not replicate this either.

Breaking the screen
The first one hard bricked, the day I got it when I attempted to unlock the bootloader...It was only an hour after I got it so I took it to AT&T and they replaced it. I guess they figured I couldn't have done that much damage in 45 minutes
The second one slid out of my back pocket as I was getting out of the car without me realizing it. It slid right in the door frame and when I closed the car door, the phone bent and the screen cracked. Since the main board was cracked, it quit booting =P I've had my current one though for 6 months and haven't had an issue. (I do have an otterbox defender on it)

That's exactly what I did with a friend of mine. We went to the shop for him to buy a HTC Desire, then we went to a McDonalds and I tried to unlock it. When the radio was flashing, he mistakenly pulled the cable - brick transformation!!! Then we went back to the store (20 minutes later), told them the phone was not booting anymore.

There's something in that phrase that doesn't make sense there... but yeah, I got the last part of it, so case closed .
Just watch out for the future. No more waving at birds with your phone laced to the small finger... it may slip out and break more than just your finger . Hah, now THAT's stupid.
-----
To protect my ATRIX, I have a MOMAX iCase Pro case on it. It snaps on so fast & easy, that it is just as easy to take off... so if you drop the phone, the case snaps off from the corner it lands. That happened to me. Lucky me, the crappy plastic of the phone barely got scratched on its right "cheek"... Need a new case (this one is rather used) or a tighter / thicker one. Oh well...

Stuck in Headphones

A month ago, my phone hung in the earphone mode. I was temporarily handling this problem until I had enough time to go to the maintenance center through an application called SoundAbout, but this application does not work in Android O (aosp and nos) . Is there a way to make it work? Or other solution without using the application or using another application?
and sorry for bad english.
I also have same problem. My phone also show earphone plugged in all the time. So i have been using these app for my personal use.
You can use this app too it also have widget and quick notification tile which isn't showing in nos oreo yet.
Source code : https://github.com/sajorahasan/AudioRouter
can someone help me optimize the code for oreo?
I also have same problem Nothing helps...Also I use SoundAbout application...
It looks like a hardware problem

It's because of water contact...
You can simply fix this by cleaning head jack part, use some soft tissue and little thinner and a small stick but do it very carefully
I hope it's work...

Try pulling headphones forcefully and pull out with speed do this 2-3 times
I had the same problem after accidental water contact. I simply used a q-tip to remove water inside the jack and then used rubbing alcohol with it to clean it further also opened up the back and air dried the inside using a hairdryer on cold mode. It was a success.
Mind it, the alcohol I used was of high purity, else the water content would have made it worse. So be cautious
I have a redmi note 3 MTK, which happen same things like this. Then i though it spoiled, so i get a new redmi note 3 but is Kate version. Now only realize there is some application can route the audio...LOL
Guys i had this problem too but i have a easy solution..
All you have to do is take your earphone and plug and unplug them quickly 3-4 times. Then the headphone icon should go away and you will be good to go. If that doesnt work try doing it once again. I've done this trick 3-4 times and it worked everytime..hope it helped
I've had the same problem for months now. It sucks, but I can get everything to work with Headset toggle and Soundabout. The jack itself works perfectly though with headphones. I've tried cleaning the jack with condensed air and q-tips, but neither worked, if anyone still has an idea on how to solve it, then I'd be happy to try it.
Use q-tips (cotton swab) and clean headphone jack on your phone. There are many videos on Youtube how to do this.

use agni kernel
There is a fix using Agni and Redon kernal for Headphone jack stuck problem.
Go to Agni Kernal thread from below link
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...2-10-2016-agni-purecm-n-v1-7-t3472640/page476
And download kernal zip file according to your rom. Flash it using TWRP recovery.
Between flashing when you are into aroma installer, there is and option to select headphone jack problem fix, select that option and install it.
Your headphone jack stuck problem will be end.
If it does not work then make sure you are rooted and given root permission to agni control app.
I think the simple solution to this is to go to a repair shop. As this is a common issue and happens when there's a short circuit near those parts. No need to worry, just go to a repair shop, the guy will fix it in a few minutes, depending on how trained/experienced he is.
Also why does these old threads are showing up on front page of RN3 Q&A?
