I live in Europe, is it still worth buying the Xperia S? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I live in Europe and the Xperia S has been out for a while but quite a while I've been doubting about the fact if I should get the Xperia S or wait for a new device by Sony. Lots of phones get announced. But a lot of these are not coming to Europe or take way to long to get released.
I currently got a HTC Desire and its becoming really slow and annoying so its really time to upgrades.

If you spend all your life waiting for the next phone you will never buy one, the Xperia S is brilliant.

Go with the XPS. We're not getting the GX (confirmed-ish), and you can maybe hope for the Ion. But not much else from Sony really.

If you want a smartphone that in 10 hours with a medium use drain the battery completely, buy Xperia S.

I understand that. But for example, I wouldn't want to get a Galaxy S II a month ago just to have the S III be released this month. Trying to avoid that happening.

BS!
SXS battery won't be worse than Desire's!
I bought SXS less than a month ago, switched from Galaxy Nexus and I don't regret it. You shouldn't focus only on hardware. User Experience is the most important thing. It's UX what makes you pleased when you use your phone and Sony (SE) knows how to make good UX. Aaaand it will get 4.0.4 soon, so you will have latest and greatest with better copy, cut, paste and way better google apps.
Hardware-wise this phone is gorgeous. It's got that "it", that cool-factor which makes everybody look twice on it and it's transparent bar on he bottom is just wow!
One more thing. It's got one of the best auto brightness I've ever seen on Android device. You don't hear something like this very often, but I think it is a detail which makes using YOUR phone pleasant. You don't have to fight with it. Finally it just works and you can forget about it
Just my 2 cents ^^

The XS is Sony's most powerful phone for this year (at least concerning Europe...)!
If you like it, I can absolutely recommend it.
Coming from a SGSII, there are TONS of reasons why I like Sony a lot more then Samsung... (Including the auto brightness, which IS brilliant!)

The Xperia S is great, and it recently dropped in price too (at least in Belgium). From €499 to €449 RRP. You can find it for around €400 easily. Which is a steal for this phone!

Get the store attendant to open the box and show you the build code before you buy, make sure you dont get an early one that will likely have the tint.

buy it....

well, xperia S is international version of xperia ion ( well not exactly the same but you can say so). so as long as I know there is no ion for europe. and believe me if there is a place that xperia S is worth buying in, is europe. I wish I lived in europe so I could use any phone I liked. right now Im using xperia play r800i and its not working well here since its international version and not U.S version. so yea bro buy it. if u listen to me, dont buy it the same day it comes, let it b for a month then buy it, because at first they boost the price to jump the selling. i did this mistake with tablet s and bought it for 400 and now they sell it for 300 to students.. i bought it the very first day it came out.

Well, I've just been to the store again to check everything there is and still the Xperia S is my most wanted phone. My only thing against it now is the fact that the battery can't be replaced.
Is it really unreplaceable even when voiding warranty?

You can change it, but there arent any available YET. Its not simple either, so its not like you'd carry a spare, but if say in 18 months you wanted to replace the pack it'd be straight forward enough as long as you have the write screw bits for getting into a phone.

I understand that it may be a issue for you, but seriously why would you want to replace it? It's a integral part of the phone so it's covered by the same 2 year warranty. If it will brake you will have it replaced

I have decided. I will be ordering my black Xperia S tomorrow morning.

I'm very happy

Do you regret buying your Xperia P?

If you answered "yes", then which phone do you wish you had bought/waited and bought instead?
Honestly I've never have to mess around/repair a phone so much and still, 4 months after buying, not at all being happy with it. Mostly it's the battery life, but the software support/bugs got me wishing I had bought another phone instead. Maybe an Xperia V w/extended battery or just an HTC.
It's 70% no and 30% yes.
I really dig this design, seriously, it's gorgeous! And the build materials...LOVE IT!
However...the camera isn't as impressive as I was expecting (my Xperia Pro took pretty damn good photos and sometimes, it was even better than my XP), the dual-core processor didn't blew me away and I'm kinda worried that we won't get an update past 4.1 (which kinda sucks, since I bought the phone 3 months ago).
When I bought XP, I was considering LG L9 (which I still kinda want, save for the ugly design of course) or Galaxy Advance (which was uglier and more expensive). If I get the chance I do would trade my XP for an L9.
But still, I love Sony's UI and apps, so I really never get tired of the phone, and the design will never feel old, nor outdated for me. It can be said that I'm quite happy with the phone, but I still would like to try that L9 phone.
Also, I kinda would like to return to a Galaxy Note (1), while the design is kinda bland, I really would like to experience having a big screen with some few tweaks, besides, I can just install Sony's apps on it.
i am using an xperia sola. i dont really bother about the build design and all but having the latest software means the most to me. its not that sola cant run the latest OS but its the bad chipset with virtually no developer support. So yes 80% i regret buying it. Everytime you buy a new gadget you learn something new. So next time i buy a phone ill ensure the chipset is only from qualcomm.

no ! waiting for JB hehe to be honest just dont like the batter 4hours screen on time with wifi, games but not so heavy , overall performance i like the XP but i want to try xperia Z
Absolutly not, it's my first Androdi Phone but when I compare it with my friends phone, I really prefer mine.
Im already satisfied with my device, but im also worried we wont have an update past 4.1,...i guess this will be the last firmware we'll receive.
Sony Xperia P LT22i
Yes and No, its a sweet phone but i'am not happy with the battery life =\ The screen is god but the reception is not as good as on my HTC One V work phone...
I have rooted it to get rid of all the crapy Sony stuff... next time I think I will buy a Nexus device

No 'cause it's better than my former Atrix, it's more smother, more efficient than Moto and is so well build. Imho i will choose once again P. Of course there are better phones but also more expensive than P.

I dont know about you, but about the time I bought my Xperia U, there was no dual core CPU in the market for the price of the xperia U. I was told the battery lasted about 10 hours and as of now, I'm not disappointed with that claim. Sure, as of now, you have plenty of alternatives for a dual core with those mediatek ones even pumping out quad-core ones [which aren't as far off in benchmarks than our novathor chips].
And to be honest, the only problem I have is not having jelly bean. Then again, if we're being realistic, unless someone bought this phone purely for development [which in that case would be pretty damn dumb and they should have done more research] the phone doesn't falter back. My U satisfies whatever I throw at it at a day to basis [Regular Browser use, music, radio when on stock rom, calling and normal moderate-graphic-intensive-games] I don't see why anybody is complaining. considering the GUI is vitrtually the same as ICS save for project butter [which if you've seen on the xperia J is absolute rubbish]
Just my 2 cents.
EDIT:- Oh and like people have already said before at the price of an Xperia P you will not find the class of build quality observed on any other non-Sony device.
totally regret my xperia p, i live in Canada so i cant really get much for the device over here, plus battery sucks, and yeah kind of sick of messing with my device just so that it will work..its laggy and i should have waited for xperia z or nexus 4, which im probably gonna go get one or the other anyway....so sick of it lol
I dont regret...
I have Lumia 820 and Xperia P.
I bought the XP for 280 USD which is by far cheaper to another phones with the same specs.
Clearly i dont like the battery or the camera (is fine, not great as L820 but who cares)
+1 to that mate i have absolutely no regrets over this phone

Could have been better, could have been worse
For almost the same price o could have gotten the S2, so a little regret but not too much... it is a good phone
If nexus 4 was out I would've got that, and if I understood the limitations of Novathor might've looked elsewhere. But this is a decent phone for sure, best mid range imo

Why would you sell your Xperia Device ???

Hello,
I sold my Xperia after some time and I can tell you the Bravia Engine and little customisation from Sony is great. The feel of phone in your hand is also good. Also, the xperia U/P/Go/Sola/ other devices are very good gadgets and they have enough support from developers. The LED bar in Xperia U is truely awesome and it could change colours just made it epic. If you are go for looks and beauty, certainly these devices are for you. Performance is good usually but not good enough in some case. (the price is not too high)
What are the factors that disappoint you ?
I will tell you mine what I can think of:
*Usually no expandable memory and in some case, battery is fixed.
*Bugs in ICS with no real support from Sony on these devices
*Bad battery life although I turned off the LED bar and used it with zero brightness. Still couldnot last more than a day on average use.
*My charger started to take long time to charge and it was quicker to charge via USB cable. In the beginning the charge time was epic. Just about an hour to charge it fully.
*NO SUPPORT FROM SONY AND UPDATES COME VERY VERY LATE AND DEVICES ARE ONLY SUPPORTED FOR MONTHS.
*NOT REAL LOUD SOUND
UPDATE :
I bought another Xperia
You forgot Xperia sola
Because of ICS laggy update, no support of Sony, no jelly bean update for Sony xperia u and poor service
im currently using xperia sola for about a year. ive tried a couple other xperia phones '12 like u, p, s, j and sony didnt good that much of a work. this mid price range devices dont have great potential (using sony's stock os). that unfortunate thing is that if you want to make your devices OK you have to do lots of stuff(root unlock bl etc etc you get the idea). but most of the people dont know about xda-flashing rom etc.they just stay at gb or stock ics and complain,or choose to buy a more mainstream devices and this results to not jave that great potential from xperia mid price range device community.
Sorry for my bad english.
No, I have all my phones still
Ericsson T68m
2x Sony Ericsson T68i (one brand new in box)
2x Sony Ericsson T230
Sony Ericsson T610
Sony Ericsson T630
Sony Ericsson K510
2x Sony Ericsson W810 (Black + White)
Sony Ericsson C905
Sony Ericsson Elm (J10i2).
Did have another T230 and two K550's but lost track of them).
I hate my Xperia U, performance sucks (on stock and CM9), if I see a good deal I'll replace it, but still wouldn't sell the U.
I would sell Xperia U because of inadequate RAM and unavailability of separate recovery partition.
I'd be lucky to get anything for an Xperia P, after having this device a year I hate it, looking forward to a new phone at the end of this month, probably won't be a Sony due to my Xperia p experience

I am so regretful for having sold my xperia active. Now I have an Xperia Go, is not as powerful as I wish but it is ok. I change my rom once in a while and I am so happy with it.
I was so scared to unlock the bootloader of my X.Active and never did. I guess if I had, I still would have my old phone and never bought another one. Bricking and unbricking your phone and change roms from XDA devs is so funny that you will forget about all the new phones coming out every day.
as for myself, maybe i'd only sell my X-Sola if it's decommissioned, forced to retire, or got a rival phone in my pocket.. it's quite great actually, after tampering with it a lot of customization..
overall, i'm lucky to choose this one..

In a way I regret selling it as i didnot want to spend too much on a phone now so I bought HTC Incredible S which I changed to HTC chacha. I am not happy with both either but atleast the small screen on my HTC chacha doesnot distract me too much from playing games, reading forums, news etc. The main reason I sold it was that I couldnot concentrate much on anything really. Just me and my phone. I am not sure what will happen when I get the New nexus 7

TRUE, I just hate that they didnot update it to JB when they could. They talked about the hardware support on NovaThor but I guess they could have ported JB easily on all devices which were only few months old.

I agree. Xda is amazing. Really I have found so many helpful developers who are working on it without really getting paid. You should always be thankful to developers and those who are helping you out. Trust me, I find almost everything here. To be honest really, the devices are monsters. Many of the apps that are written wouldnot work with your device in google play, I have managed to play them really smooth. However, I have noticed that some games/apps won't work on ICS latest build but run very smoothly on GB and Custom roms. I guess ICS was complete failure in terms of its potential.

Well, ram is an issue. If Xperia U had 1 Gb ram and Sd card, this device would be epic but manufacturers always keep something to themselves so a person changes his phone often and they get more profit

I agree, I am also thinking of not going for Sony for atleast next 3 to 5 years looking at my experience. I prefer Nexus more with more freedom. HTC on the other hand is more complicated to unlock, Root, Get S off etc before you can flash roms. Plus, it is a pain to flash official Stock Rom for HTC which was much easier with Sony. So for the moment, these both companies are out of my league!

Tell you from experience, for all the years I am doing it, I had so many bricks and every device came back to life in the end. However, I am yet to see a hardware issue!
Yeah definitely thinking of an android vanilla device, HTC comes with way to much crap and is not fun to root.

[Q] Can Sony be trusted?

Hey guys. I'm currently using an HTC One and I'm thinking of buying the Xperia Z2 in June. The last Sony phone I used was the X10 Mini and haven't used a Sony since. I wasn't at all impressed by the new HTC One or the Galaxy S5, so basically the only phone left that's even remotely interesting would be the Xperia Z2.
Which brings me to my question: Can Sony be trusted? I have read about several issues with their phones.
Same boat as you. Last sony I had was the standard Sony X10. It was awful. Hated every minute of it. Was not as bad as my nokia 5800 I owned before it though.
Phones since then have been the galaxy S2, galaxy S3, now the LG G2 (best phone so far), and now pre ordered the X2. It looks amazing, and am very excited about it. Might not have it long as im planning (stupidly maybe) to take it to my 3yr old sons swimming lessons and get some underwater video footage of him as he loves swimming underwater! Think the slow motion feature will look amazing. So hoping Sony really is true to their word on it being waterproof

Well, after using some 9 Sony phones I believe this is the only brand which can be trusted so well. In fact I went a step ahead to import their Xperia Ray when it came out some 2 and a half years ago(means no warranty). Not a single issue still, it has fallen face down, been in contact with water, thrown against the wall and it still works with a scratch! Of course, I had to change its battery twice tho, both times after it fell or I threw it in anger, as the battery went a little fluffy and back plate wouldn't completely lock into its place. Recently got the third battery.

Good to know, haha. I'm not really into throwing 100's of euros worth of smartphones into the wall though. Being unemployed really makes you contain your anger and focus it on something else, lol. :silly:
Trusted? not really.
Let say this, the quality of the materials is without questioning but with the Software they screwed us from day one on Z1 and with the release of KitKat 4.4 they compleated the mess, which is the worst OS seen on Z1, with all the restrictions.
I own Z1 and now is not worth to sell it to buy the Z2 but everybody who did not buy Z1 I recommend to get Z2 as it is very well improved.
So I think even is Sony cannot be fully trusted I think you will not have regrets to buy Z2.

I agree with you, at least HTC have tried something different, that vould be classed as usefull, dual camera, its definately, and could be useful. I mean come on, a heartbeat monitor, seriously!! To be fair i though that on release of kit kat on G2, however I have flashed version 20b on it and suffer no problems whatsoever, I know its not officially release in Uk, but hey, thats why im on xda
I have no experience of Sony updates as if yet so cant comment here with an opinion yet. I know im going to love the Z2, the only thing that worries me is battery, but im hoping with a 3200 battery it will last the day as my G2 does with extreme heavy use.
On a side note, i bloody hate pre ordering phones, hate waiting, have zero patience with things like that at least when my phone does come i will have a new shiny sony tv being delivered for free shortly after, nice bonus considering I would have got the Z2 regardless. Samsung, hang your heads in shame :what:

You do know Sony aren't offering a TV, right? It's all on Vodafone UK, mate. Don't wanna defend Samsung, just wanna get the facts out.
Besides, if the battery turns out to be a little on the downside on the stock rom, I'm sure you could flash something that improves the battery. That's why we're on XDA.

Well to be fair its actually Sony doing the promotion, just through Vodafone, which luckily for me I am on.
TV Offer: Promoter, Sony Mobile Communications. First 3000 eligible pre-orders only before 09.04.14. TV can only be redeemed after first bill payment, between 08.05.14 to 08.07.14. Airtime agreement required. Excludes business customers, except small business (1-4 connections). TV offer Ts&Cs at vodafone.co.uk/sonyxperia
Soon as you recieve tv vodafone dont want to know. Hopefully this means that vodafone are one of the 'trusted partners' that will get the phone on release.
And yes your right on the battery side, but always better to get it running good from stock first as a good base to build on. I am hoping to be honest that people really do decide to avoid the Samsung, not because I hate them as I dont, but because I want them to pull something special out of the bag for the S6. The S3 was such a special phone and I loved it, still holds its own now, especially with a custom rom.

[Q] How to check if the Z2 is branded

Hi
I'd like to get a Z2, but I've heard that in most retail shops in my country the phones are sometimes branded, so I'd like to check that before buying. Is there an easy and fast method to do so?
Thanks in advance

%99 of the time if it comes from a network provide its branded
if it comes from a 3rd party provider or directly from Sony usually its unbranded
this varies depending on your country
The problem is, I've heard that some of the 3rd parties in Poland sell branded Play/Orange phones and some people get to know it, when they get an update from either of those. The weirdest thing is, that in Sony Centre they say that Z2 in my other local shop can be branded, when in that shop they say that their Z2's are not branded. I don't know what to think about it at all. The thing is, that in the other shop the phone is 100$ cheaper and I can check it before buying, so I could check if it's branded or not, only I have to know how. Is it somewhat connected with the service menu?

Sony said "can be branded" if the shop says it isn't branded and it is, you can legally sue them
and branded deviced are usualy cheaper because they are simlocked and/or non bootloader unlockable
From what I've read I can easily ckeck if the bootloader is locked or not (via the service menu).
And for the discussion, in Sony Center they said that the other shop (one of the biggest retailers in country btw) bought those phones from Orange. In Komputronik they said that guys in Sony who told me that are sick in their minds. And I don't know who to trust XD

i think your best bet is to buy directly from sony or a supported 3rd party supplier that isnt this one
:/ safety is often worth the extra money rather then taking a potential risk
It seems I have to. Anyway, sorry for the offtop but I have a question for you. Do you think that Z2 is a good phone to upgrade from my current iPhone 4S? And do you think it would work good and fast for 3 years like my iPhone? Or would you rather buy something else? (G3, M8, Nexus maybe?)

Yes, especially as the prices have fallen now due to the Z3 release. I guess you'll be happy with the Z2.
Thanks for al your answers! I think I'll get a Z2 from my local Sony Center, but if anyone knows a way how to check the branding, please post it below anyway. It may be useful for some poeple

Definatly!
alot of iphone users who love that minimalist ios look and feel often come to xperia for its UI and looks
however, go and play with the G3, and M8 and then come back to xperia
ive noticed some phones take some tinkering before the user can properly decide weather they like it or not
personaly for me id either have a iphone 5S (6 is terrible compared to 5, felt cheap :{ sme people like it i guess) or a xperia simply because i love both phones
I really like the looks of my 4S and iOS 7. I wanted something with bigger screen than in the 5S anyway, so that's why I waited till the keynote and the only things I can say about 6 and 6 plus's relation between hardware, design and price is just... meh
That's why I think about getting Z2. It looks like a bigger and facelifted 4S + from what I've heard the battery is really good in this one And the microsd port is always a nice thing to have

why i think logically you will love Z2
Great battery - 3300Mah Li-ion
plenty of useful features.. if you use them
nice looks.. to me at least
1080p screen
water resistant IP58 Cert
xperias are tough. i beat a Xperia S up for about 3 years and it still works in my brothers hands
Z2 feels tough
micro Sd slot upto 128gb
many more, just check GSM arena or sony mobile website for phone details

Li-ion wears out over time and incrases due to heating
Li-poly wears out due to use and after a long time it will explode
I've just read (and saw at many Youtube vidoes) that the Z2 likes to overhear, espacially while playing games/watching movies and (most of the time) while taking photos and recording videos. Is it really such a common problem?
I didn't read the whole thread but if you plan to flash CyanogenMod on it, then u will lose the carrierbrand anyway.

looking to buy a xperia z ultra

Hi all, as a picky customer ive been following the z ultra forum as of a week now, i still havent ordered the phone yet but its the prime contender for me as the system specs are similar to the ones on my now broken LG G2 (r.i.p) it seems like a optimal replacement (and a bargain at the price it carries!!)
i have to say that ive never really had a sony handset before so im not that familiar with th UI, its perks and of course its bugs..
just needed you guys to put the final nail in the coffin on the deal for me as i find that its always best to get some info from "professional" users rather than "over the counter".
soooooo...
could you please tell me some of your praises for this device?? is the sony UI as restrictive as ive heard it to be? is the battery really that good?? decent accessories that you feel are worth getting??
cheers in advance!!!

Get the GPE version of the Z Ultra which I believe should be cheaper than the international version and runs stock Android.
However if you prefer to have the Sony suites of software then by all means go for the international version.
For the international version, you can flash a port of the GPE rom but you can't flash a port of stock rom onto a GPE set.
Sent from my C6833_GPe using Tapatalk
If you want to run different ROMs - get the international version. The GPe 4.4.4 and Lollipop is already ported so they are available.
The problem with the GPe is that it uses a different partition scheme making it unable to use ROMs for the rest of the crowd (C6802/6806-nonGPe/6833). I would therefore recommend a C6806 or C6833 depending on what bands (LTE) you want and need.
Because of the superior selection of ROMs including GPe, I would simply go for a C6833 unless you are absolutely sure that everything else than the GPe ROM is of no interest.
With the "Sony Edition" (C6833 et al) you have great options: Sony ROMs, GPe or AOSP/CM based ones in different flavors. I think this selection is reason enough to go for the Xperia rather than the GPe.

As they are in Italy I would not recommend the c6806 in either the Sony version or the GPe, get the c6833 (international). Sony's UI is very 'stock' android with very little bloat and packaged apps. As for battery life, expect 4 to 8 hours of screen on time depending on what you are doing. My GPe version on Lollipop has 5 days uptime, ~20% battery used and it says 13 days remaining on standby with the wifi on - no real use this week as I'm using my other phone.
thanks to all of you for your input.. its really apreciated!!!i think i'll go for the international variant as it seems i have a bit more to play with modding wise... now all i need to do is reach payday and order it!!!

Just looking at your sig, I think we could be the same boat.
I had 4 years all with HTC phones ( HD2, Ruby, One) and I recently made a first move to Sony phone, this Z Ultra C6833 and have no regret, even one bit. I personally think Sony phone has great battery, very responsive touchscreen, premium quality hardware built etc...which on par with HTC at least, or better.
Sony brand is somehow underestimated on smartphone markets. I didn't think about buying one, until I had one in my hands to try, and I was sold in 3 minutes. With the heavy dropped price on this Z Ultra these days, it's a steal, you'll be more than happy.

In Australasia, Asia and western Europe Sony has very good market penetration. Other than work phones I know more people that have an Xperia than have an ifone here in NZ
Here in italy its not as highly regarded as samsung or LG neither is HTC but i look at specs affidability and price over the usual consumer jargon.. im sure ill be pleased with this device!!!

I agree that Sony is still a big name of the game, what I mean was Sony deserves more than that. It could be one of top 3 players. Here in Canada Sony doesn't seem to do much comparing to other brands name. I wished I'd knew how good Sony phones was sooner. It's great to know that Sony phones are doing well in other countries.
I dont know if there is amazon in italy, but I bought mine for €260.- on amazon.
The alternative was the LG G2 for €300.-
If you really like to use big phones, go for it. I actually wanted a big phone and really like sony Z line design of phones, not to mention the extremely appealing price. Snapdragon 800 and a huge phone for €260? It was a no brainer for me.
Not to mention the advantage of having a GPe Version, portable lolipop roms. Just in case you miss it, this phone has an IPS display, unlike the Z and Z1 of sony.
There are complaints though, so for those, you can find enough information. Personally, I am very satisfied.
just as an update i ordered the C6833 variant just now at 239 euro (im still rubbing my hands like monty burns!!) thanks to all for your input!!!
i'll look forward to sharing the z ultra sub section with you guys!!

I don't think I would be able to enjoy an iPhone 6 Plus in comparison with my 240 DPI phablet mode Ultra with MultiWindow and floating apps.
Edit: It seems like Sony start to list the Ultra as being "discontinued" so I think every interested buyer should pull the trigger soon. It gives me an indication that they finally stopped the production and that the stock isn't going to be replenished anymore.

I want the existing users who have used it to suggest whether its worth buying or not

I have recently purchased Z Ultra after having a lot of comparison with other devices and I have no regret that I have bought this device. The price was a major factor.
The screen size is something It would take time for to adjust with(First time using a phone with such a form factor, all previous devices were around 4.5 inches)
The phone is butter smooth and no lag at all. Battery lasts around 2-2.5 days with moderate usage(Have stamina mode ON for the full time).
I will surely recommend to get a ZU.
Just got mine
As a long time android user, recent windows phone user, I am glad I got this device. Was on winphone with tether to nexus 7, and figured I would stop messing around and start carrying a tablet (phablet) with the phone. I have always wanted a Sony device but couldnt justify the price. With an unlocked device at around $300 I figured it was a no lose situation.
I love it. The screen is magnificent. And there really isnt too much bloatware from Sony. Such great build quality so far, Ive been using it for about 3 weeks. (early Christmas present to myself)
I would say go for it.
Its great to be back to Android full time, I like MS, I really liked Nokia...but it just didnt do it for me.
Thanks so that should be my next device, I have been waiting for a pass for One Plus, actualy was the very first one to get it when it was launched in India but didnt have the money to buy it now I tired waiting endlessly for it and have decided to go for ZU
