[Q] Long press browser history gone? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greets,
Just flashed aokp_p4wifi_build-37 on my GT-P7510 (awesome, btw), but it seems that the ability to long press on back button in the browser has disappeared. In the stock ROM, long pressing on the browser back button and/or the navigation bar back button (while browser is open) would bring up a list of previous pages in the stock browser. I don't see this option via the "quick controls" either. I'm getting the sense I'm missing something obvious, and am looking for clues.
Thanks...

it works on cm9 but not AOKP. I think this is because the long back press is intercepted by ROM Control(ROM Control>Navigation bar>Navigation Bar Buttons).

Thanks f2. That explains perfectly. Perhaps there will be a workaround at some point; I've become too dependent on that feature...

FBreader on CM7 ?

I am running CM7 (Android 2.3) and I installed FBreader.
Unlike other apps, it overlaps the notification bar on the top which has the soft Menu and Back buttons.
So I cannot do anything other than the default.
Am I missing something, or is FBreader not workable for 2.3 on Nook Color ?
I also use the FBreader on CM7 and the only way i got it to work is to download Soft Keys to be able to have the full menu/home/back buttons on the homescreen no matter what. Then i set the settings to always show the title bar inside FBreader. After that i uninstalled soft keys cause i didnt need it anymore
I am trying Moon+ instead - but with that app, I cannot find any settings at all ! ?
Aha, an errant tap on the screen brought up the settings.
So far, so good with Moon+
Hi,
I use Button Savior from the market for my buttons. FBReader works well with it.
You can minimize button savior to a little icon that doesn't block text significantly.
If you are just getting started with FBReader on NC, I have also found
"FBSync", "Dropbox" and "Calibre library" (from market) useful.
Also use with Calibre on the PC to organize/convert ebook formats:

Hope this Helps,
Peter
In FBreader, if you press on the bottom 1/4 of the screen right in the middle of the page it will make the notification bar and the menu bar pop up. (this is also true for Aldiko)
It's still a good idea to use button savior or softkeys though.

Click to collapse
Aha ! Just what I was looking for - thanks !
I use FBReader all the time too, but I have the Phiremod and it came with the option to change the volume keys. I use the default setting with the UP volume the menu key and the DOWN volume the back key. Very useful.
I also have Button Savior

How to use back button as home button.

Hello everyone have completely altered the post as I now seem to know what am talking about am after a mod, that will enable the back button to be long pressed, to close the currently opened app, this is a feature found on the miui roms.

Home icon on toolbar - Possible?

Is it possible to create a "Home" icon on the toolbar next to, say, back icon? Only reason I am seeking that is then I won't have to physically hit the Nook button every time.
P.S.: It is a fully rooted Nook tablet.
How about Button Savior?
I cannot specifically answer your question, but I would recommend Button Savior for the time being. I used it while rooted with NT and still use it with CM7. I prefer not to use the physical buttons unless I have to.

If you install CM7, you can customize the menu bar to include your choice of home, back, notifications, search and settings buttons.
Yes, you can add a home icon to the toolbar by modifying the systemui.apk. Here is a link to the thread in the app section.

Attached is a screen capture showing my home screen with the home icon on the status bar.
If you are just using a rooted nook, the home manager app can provide similar funtionality (albeit with a couple more clicks.)

How will Samsung implement the JB voice action?

Since its a...hold the home button, then Swype up to the virtual icon that pops up to activate Google Now.
Any ideas as to what they will do? I knew this button thing was a bad idea. :cyclops:
I think (though I may be mistaken) you can also access Google Now the same way you access voice search (the mike icon on the search bar on the home screen). This would obviously be much less convenient, though.
In my opinion they should kick s-voice to the curb! but thats just me
That's right...double tap brings up Voice. Maybe that's what they will do. Sucks that because of S Voice...there is a slight pause after pressing the button once to get back Home.
simple, replace long-press menu.
They might implement re-assigning the home button function, JB Voice looks pretty sweet.

Long Press Home Button for Google Now Search

Im really loving the new goolge now search feature. I use it for lots lof things like texts, directions, timers, alarms and the sort. I was wondering if anyone was able to make the default long press of the home button linked to the search function. I was even hoping to have this available from a locked device, not password protected of course.
It most be a difficult mod since I've tried a lot of the roms, even those with hardware button options, and non are able to do it.
I'm not sure if you are using any rom like Stock ROM, but if you use any custom ROM based on Cyanogenmod ROM, then this should work.
Goto--> Settings-->Cyanogenmod Settings--> Hardware Keys --> Home button (Long press) ---> change the option to Search Assistant.
This Search Assistant, by default connects to Google Now (Its getting connected to Google Now in my device).
Regards,
Hereticnine.
