Really? What app(s) function the same?

He's talking out of his arse. Poor brain function.
There are no apps like this.
Also, if you feel that $2 is a lot of money you should probably not have a $500 phone. In the list he goes.

@ftgg99 I love your Meta Widget app!
Recently I tried experimenting with 200DPI on AOKP ROM and the widget works fine. To take better advantage of 200DPI, I started using 5x5 grid on Apex Launcher instead of 4x4.
I used to have 2 comic strip Meta Widgets on one homescreen, each 2x4. To give an idea, the homescreen will be split into 2 vertical blocks, each containing 1 comic strip.
Now that I have 5 columns, I can't make that equal split of comics.
Can a feature be added to Meta Widget so that I can instantiate as a huge 5x5 widget with it split equally vertically? .. with each vertical section containing contents from a URL (a comic strip for my case)?
Or is the Widget Maker app of yours be able to do the same?
UPDATE: This is how I had set it up on 240DPI 4x4 grid homescreen: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26669391&postcount=157
Any way to create such equal split widgets on a 5x5 grid?
Thanks!

Widget Maker helps you make panels of widgets to maximise the available space
Just a little something we came up with for ****s and goggles.

@ftgg9
I had one feature request which I believe that the current versions of Meta Widget and Widget Maker don't support.
The vertical partitioning of the screen works fine most of the time for 2 comics, because usually the comics are in form of 4x1 panels. But sometimes, the comics are more rectangular or squarish in shape (about 4x2 panels). So when such comic appear, it is shrunk down to fit in that vertical space and so is unreadable.
So the feature request is: Can one more action be added to the list of on-click actions so that that widget temporarily takes up the full screen estate like a popup? Upon hitting the back button or for that matter anywhere on the screen, the popup can close. Please let me know if that feature is possible and if it can be added.
Thanks.

You mean to open the image in a dialog? Ill think about it... maybe.

Yes, so that the dialog overlays the full screen and shows the image in the biggest size possible.
For now I click on the widget, and select Open in Browser. Then the browser opens and reloads the same comic from the network. It works but it doesn't look seamless. Having a dialog, fetch the same image from cache will be quicker than the current reload from network in browser option.
Thanks for considering it.

Thanks.

Its on the to do list. But its not height priority because similar functionality can already be achieved through opening the relevant web page.

Problem: The widget title alignment doesn't seem to work. Regardless of choosing center or right, it remains aligned on the left.

Any issues?
Hi again i got it to workign using adw
i may be using it wrong but i can only seem to be able to select one element on a wbsite
so on say engadget on the mobile
i can only select one story not the whole colume of them
is there a way to do this cause other wise it doesnt really work for me as a newsfeed.
couple of bugs ive found
when on engadgets desktop site, when i press the slect box thingy the buttons all disappear and come back ever time i click but then go again
works fine on mobile site though
anther is that on facebook on the desktop site, when i click the select box the whole news feed goes blank.
I know the answer to these problems is just "use the mobile site" but i thought id let you know
Cheers for the app though

I mentioned the title alignment does not work. And it seems the content alignment doesn't work either. Regardless of selecting right or center, everything aligns left.
EDIT: Alignment failed to work with m.fark.com however worked with content created from a google feed.
Also, from the video, before adding the widget the user is prompted for widget dimensions. This does not happen. Perhaps it is something to do with Nemus. But, once the widget is added I am able to scale the widget to my desired dimensions.
Device: Korean Tab 10.1WiFi (shw-m380w)
ROM: Stock Honeycomb FD19
Launcher: Nemus Launcher
Very cool app.
Suggestions:
Abiliy to enable a border.
Ability to create a template or set defaults that stores color and font sizes, etc to easily create like widgets without having to adjust new widgets to match existing widgets.
Once the desired content is selected the ui advances to the widget settings where you can select content and then colors, etc. If the user presses the back button, the widget closes and the user has to start all over again. Please change the back function to bring the user back to the content selection page or the browser window. It's really frustrating having to start over!
Ability to set a global update frequency and/or a per widget update frequency.

[Q] How Themer is built?

Hi
I am curious on how a theme is built using Themer, correct me if I am wrong. In a very basic way, here is the way a theme is put together
1 - create wallpapers in Photoshop, at the right size and res, with all the info, icons shapes, you name it. This create a static image.
2 - Using Zooper Pro one places hot spots where we want something to happen,: open mail, show weather, numbers of miss calls, etc......
Is that OK , did I missed something?

Hi, that is more or less correct.
Many new themes use a standard wallpaper so that users will have the option to change it without affecting the theme's appearance (such as text won't disappear).
Any one of Themer's built-in widgets can be used, not just Zooper, but you're correct in saying that hotspots are assigned to specific actions.
Lastly, icons can always be added if the designer wishes

Doesn't really matter, it's all completely up to you. We do recommend using a high-res wallpaper though if other users wanted to apply the theme, and they're using a 1080p resolution device.

[Q] Is there a way to make a stationary widget?

Hi made when I make my wallpapers for my themes I add the icons for the dock apps then using ether the everything widget or themer zooper for hotspots.
To do this add a shape over the top of a icon and set to the same size as the icon and make the shape transparent and add the matching hotspot
All the best

Sent from my RAZR I screen to your screen using a strange thing known as the world wide web
I think he means where the scroll bar at the bottom remains static, here's how to do it
go to browse themes and select settings
in settings click advanced, then click dock
in these settings select show dock
go back to your home screen and drag the icons you want to stay to the dock area and there you have it
your icons now appear to remain
hope this helps
Thanks for the tips guys. going into more detail I was actually going to slightly edit an existing theme and add stationary text near the top of the screen. I think for that dj's method works so thanks for that.
I have never seen those widgets but I want to use them. Can you give me a link to it?

[Q] What is the theme builder application?

How does a person create a theme and then use it? I'd like to have very specific things on my theme but other than adding to an existing theme, i can't seem to take away from an existing theme, how do I create a new one from scratch?
I know they say watch the vid but if you are like me you need to see it in writing,it makes more sense to me that way.Anyway the easiest way is to grab a theme and change it around/edit,get a feel for the program then create your own by changing wallpapers, icons, weather etc.A lot of themes now won't let you edit them I have found, however download any of mine and edit away they are all editable,as are a few more posted here but names don't spring to mind, none in my opinion are any better or worse than each other they just have their own little attributes that makes them unique in their own way.So go on and play around m8,it will be fun.

Thanks, I cannot stand those youtube videos that "show" you how to do things. I find them tedious and unusable. I'd rather just get some instructions, an application and let me do it. Yet, so many seem to post "youtube instructions" i write this stuff for a living and have never found a video more useful than written instructions. However, that's my bias.
I'll go check out some of yours.
I agree with your assessment that NONE of the themes I've downloaded have been editable. I don't want to ADD more widgets and icons to a theme. I just want to start with a blank canvas and let me do it.
Yet, if all these themes exist, HOW were they created? I'm really not going to watch a youtube video. There has to be a building application somewhere. Not re-engineer something already there.
One question, when you say "download mine" where do I find yours. None of the ones I've seen through the application say who created them.
mine and others are in the screenshots and themes forum beneath the general discussion.I agree fully with the video and much prefer to read it as I find it more followable, but again I suppose that is my bias too.You can start almost fresh, grab a theme as posted earlier, then delete everything,if the theme uses everything widget this is simple to do,just press screen and choose remove, then change the wallpaper by selecting your own then simply add you own widgets etc via the inbuilt everything widget (although this isn't as stable as it could be) or download widgets from playstore etc then add them, hope this helps apologies if I seem to waffle on.

Hi sanjsrik,
I'm the one who made the YouTube tutorial videos, so I apologize if they weren't that informative. Those were created in the beginning just to give people a basic understanding of what Themer was about.
Alldroid is correct in saying that starting with a fresh blank theme is the best, then just seeing what works and what doesn't. My advice would be learn more about Zooper Widget, as a lot of the newer themes use it, and it's brilliant. That's all Themer is essentially, a wallpaper, some widgets, and maybe some icons if you're feeling brave. We do recommend making the grid size quite large, in order to make the widget resizing easier. you might also notice that the new themes include incredibly detailed icons, these are in fact Zooper fonts, so as mentioned play around with the Zooper widgets found in the new themes.
If you need help/ideas feel free to ask, I'm always here to help!

Marco,
I would definitely go for it... though I am more of a "hands on" student and for learning I need to hear the stuff (that's how I learned all the stuff during college - my wife reading the material and me laying down and just listening - damn, she was so furious when I got the same grades as she did... ;o]]]), the text might help you gain more audience among those "give-me-a-manual-and-shut-up" types.
You have created a superb product for the tinkerers so a step further in the direction of a superb customer/user support would be a definitive nod in the right direction.
I personally would like more short video tutorials on specific features, how they work, what is their purpose and the mechanics (Yeah, you guessed it, I am not that familiar with design and graphics;o]) and maybe a tut on the 'codes' for custom formats of zooper widget.
well and maybe few more videos with theme designers like the one you guys did with GeriArts would also be inspiring... ;o]]]
another definate yes here too thanks, would make it a more better product in my opinion.

I promise I am NOT complaining. I promise I am NOT criticizing. I am just asking the question, WHAT is Themer?
from everything I understand, it's not a true "application", it's a wallpaper that then people can add widgets that "do" things.
if this is the case, HOW are these widgets "locked" where they can't be changed in a lot of the wallpapers I've downloaded.
THAT is my only question.
Oh, and how come there's not a "builder" application for Themer?

No worries we weren't offended by your comments, we're just trying to make everyone's theming experience as easy possible.
Themer is a launcher. Just like TouchWiz, Nova, Apex, ssLauncher, etc. It's a link between the hardware and software, you could think of it as the body/shell of a car. The car can have a different shell, and with Themer, it's shell can be customized in seconds.
Calling it a wallpaper with widgets doesn't really do it justice, as a launcher incorporates your app drawer as well, and maybe some more features arriving soon.
One thing to remember is that Themer, once stripped to its core, it a launcher, just like the rest. By that we mean you're able to edit/add/remove widgets, change wallpapers, change the icons (icon pack support arriving soon), etc. To unlock widgets, hold down on the homescreen - Advanced - Unlock Widgets. Repeat the process to lock them, or alternatively you can go into the main Themer settings - Advanced - Desktop - enable Lock Desktop Widgets.
Whenever the widgets/icons are unlocked, this can be called the "builder" mode, as you can add/remove/edit widgets and icons.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for the constructive email.
I think the biggest confusion anyone has with your "application" is that it doesn't seem like an application. It really does sound like a wallpaper with widgets. For example:
* Is there the ability to add groups for grouping together like kinds of applications?
* Can I add my own icons for applications?
Think GoLauncher or some other such "launcher" application that exists.

1. With Themer, you can add in Smart Category folders. For example the Games Category, when you install a new game, it will show up in this category and then whichever theme has a games folder, this new game will automatically appear. This saves a lot of time, but you can also manually add in your own categories or manually add in your own apps to a category.
2. Icon pack support is still limited. If you have icons on the homescreen, these can be edited manually. Some icon packs are supported, but you can also set them to other images in your gallery.

YES! I watched many of the videos and I'm still very much confused. I have specific ideas for what I want, and although I can figure some things out on my own by trial and error, reinventing the wheel is both time-intensive and tiresome.
Also, I am glad to hear that icon pack support is on the list. Although my plans include heavy use off the app drawer, I'd like to have the icons in there be pleasing to my eye as well as the ones on my home screen.
It's a great product, one that I've already suggested to several friends. I just am more demanding than the "average bear".

most icon packs by default don't work with themer, but there is a way round this although you will need to manually change the icons you want to use.
Download apk extractor from Playstore
download the icon packs you want to your device
using apk extractor extract the apk of the icon pack you downloaded, this file will be stored on your device main storage in the apk extrat folder.
Attach your device to your laptop etc, then drag the extracted apk icon pack to it
rename the icon.apk and change the apk extension to zip
open with your favourite zip program
then simply extract the icon file images
this thread helped a lot

First impressions and questions

Hi,
I have played with Themer and widgets last few hours, and it looks very nice. I have looked through the introduction videos, and they were informative, but there is always some information missing, and here is what I could not find:
How to lock widgets without right click?
When we unlock the widgets for editing, we need to lock them back. Every tutorial that I looked does this using right click on screen, but what if there is no place on screen available to right click (widget occupies to whole screen)?. I guess we could add one screen temporarily, lock the widgets, and remove the "dummy" screen, but I guess there should be some quicker method?
How to dock particular widget to appear on all screens?
I would like one widget to appear on all screens, something like a Dock on the stock Android. How to mark widget as docked (locked) on all screens?
How to preview a custom (exported) theme?
In the video tutorials it is said to put an image with the same name to thumbs folder (I noticed that it must be png also, not jpeg). However, this only shows the screenshot in the thumbnail preview of exported themes. What about when we select a particular theme, which opens a screen with Delete Apply choices? This preview is still blank screen, which means that it does not use the image from the thumbs. The same behavior is seen in the video tutorials.
How to know if there is an empty widget on screen?
For example, lets say that I have dropped a widget on the screen accidentally, and I did not place any element in it. This widget would be transparent by default. How can I see those widgets, so I can remove them?
Thanks.

Hi Goran,
So sorry for taking an incredibly long time to reply, I'm on a semi-vacation in Thailand at the moment and getting access to internet isn't easy. I'll try help as best I can.
1. Thanks for pointing this one out! The option to do this via the app drawer was removed in the last update, so I'll speak to the team about adding it in again. The only other way would be to enable the Themer notification bar, which has a Themer icon that brings up new themes. From here you can tap the back button to go into the Advanced Settings and then into Desktop.
2. This feature has been requested before, however it will take us a while to add it into Themer, as the resources required are quite vast to say the least. Hopefully in the new year we will have more time to focus on features like this. Right now the team is more focused on fixing bugs and improving the performance.
3. Another requested feature. We still want to improve the front end as much as possible before moving onto the back end. Trust me though we haven't forgotten about the designer side of Themer.
4. I've never heard of this feature before, but it sounds like a good one to have. I think because many users focus on adding widgets that instantly show information, it hasn't been as a priority. I'll speak to the team and see what they think.
I hope this has answered your questions. If you have any more just ask, I have a stable connection now and will be able to reply within the day.
- Marco
