Accuweather not updating? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anybody else noticed that the Accuweather widget doesn't always update according to what you set it.
Mine is set to 3 hours but I have to tap refresh to get it to refresh. It worked fine until about 2 days ago.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

You must have sync set up to refresh it, eg every hour or two, but the more sync the worse the battery life

It was setup to sync. I resolved it by clearing the weather applications data.

Accuweather widget not updating...
I am also having this problem and have given the Clear Data on "Weather Main" a try. I note that there was no data in just "Weather" to clear.
Hopefully this works...

Just as a suggestion, i changed mine to Beautiful Widgets.
Much much nicer looking, and it updates without fail, and it's also completely customisable

My lockscreen waether nt updating. Whrre is da setting for that ?

Clear data on Weather Main and Weather daemon.

It would appear that the fault is recreated by rebooting the device or switching it on and off.
Clearing the weather main and weather daemon data will solve the problem but it shouldn't have to be this way.
Beautiful widgets it may be until this is sorted one way or another...

hi everyone

[Q] application icons

Hi...I hope you can give me advice how to solve this stupid issue.
After having arranged all the icons in the applications panel and saved the work done, if I switch off the device and switch it on again all the icons are again mixed together. How can I delete panels/pages in the application menu?
so??? no help?
which custom/stock rom are you using ?
Hi I am using a XX KI8..I did some experiments before with other firm and some JIG shots but everything was fine. But I never did clean , deep clean or factory reset...du u have any idea?
Have you tried clearing the data for twlauncher in program manager?. This cleared up some icon glitches I was getting. This will reset the app drawer but will also reset your home screens to default. You will have to reboot the phone after clearing the data.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
I will try and let you know. I know tw launcher is an additional aIpp...am I correct?
Twlauncher is the stock touchwiz launcher

I have seen twlaunchers somewhere. I will search it out.

[Q] menu icons won't stay sorted

On my SGS2 after sorting all my menu icons into groups on different menu screens e.g. one screen for games another for music apps etc, after rebooting for whatever reason the icon are all scrambled randomly around all the menu screens and I have to sort them again, and yes I do save after sorting. Obviously this isn't a major issue but it is annoying, any comments or suggestions (apart from stop being so anal). Thanks.

Be nice if you told us what ROM you are using and what launcher you have installed
You could create individual
folders and put your apps in that
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Well I would've if I'd actually changed the rom or launcher, have root ( used cf-root, kernel DUKJ1) apart from that the phone is unchanged.

Yeah already have some folders but they too get scattered randomly, thanks anyway.
Yeah but could you not use appzorter from the market and that would sort your folders alphabetically?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Had this once with tw 4.5. cant remember how I solved it. Every time I restarted the launcher it just messed up the icons
it happens for me too,i got 400+apps but its sometimes annoying but still iam on stock an the phone dosnt hickup even with full load...
Sounds familiar...

I had a similar problem which I fixed by clearing the TwLauncher data (in Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> All).
Doing this will cause all the current icon positions to be lost, but it should start remembering them going forward.
I think there was something corrupt that prevented the icon positions from being saved.
Hopefully this works for you.

Thanks, i had a look at that but i'd prefer to have these particular icons sorted into groups rather than alphabetically, thanks anyhow for the reply.

[Q] Settings - Weather

In all themes, temperature is in the area of 60 degrees.
I live in melbourne, its currently 25 degrees celsius.
Accuweather is set correctly both in units & current location.
But none of the themes detect the correct weather.
Have i missed a setting somewhere in themer?
NB; the weather setting in themer is set to celsius.
EDIT; i found one theme that displayed weather correctly.
Shortly after when switching back and forth between themes, others that had not displayed correctly now are.

This is a bug we're currently trying to fix, maybe try switching from WiFi to mobile data or visa versa to see if that helps. We are working hard on this though.
same prob
experiencibg the same...
I have the same issue (of course i do its a bug) but to add onto the ordeal my location doesn't display correctly either. I'm assuming its all tied together?
Also what is the likelihood of using other services other than Accuweather?

Have you tried rebooting your device? Let us know if this helps.
Accuweather isn't needed, we just provide that as an example to show what weather apps can be used.

No that didnt help. When I first install it grabs my location correctly but never updates again.
I recently encountered the same issue on my N5. A reboot did work for me either.
@sypherz28 and @SilencioArt the latest update (V1.24) allows you to change your weather provider via the Weather Settings (in Themer Settings). You can now choose either Yahoo or OpenWeatherMap. Hope this helps!

Downloaded the update, seems to be fixed.
I have however only changed between 2 themes I've been modifying myself.
Also fixed is the all widgets lost crash bug.
Cant thank you enough for that one.
The updates to the drawer are great.
Two things missing I thought would have made it in;
- Icon pack support.
- Resizable icons for homescreen.
Resizing would be good 0% - 200% scalable as opposed to small medium large.
But otherwise awesome update.

I couldnt get it to work with old themes either, but some newer ones use the zooper wodget integration. You can set the location manually for every zooper widget. So I unlocked all widgets(menu button -> advanced -> unlock widgets), then I longpressed on a widget and then chose configure. In the zooper widget config I could set the location. This way it worked for me.

[Q] Weather updating

Hi all,
I use the "weather clock" with 1 hour automatic updating interval using actual location, but the weather does not update never (only if I do manually). Do you know if it is necessary turn on the GPS for this functionality?

Do not believe so, but I am not sure because I count steps do not use the weather clock.
I know on the Gear it was not great, it be say 7 degrees in morning and about 23 at lunch but I be lucky to see 23.
I glace at the watch it is great day warm, I am not wearing a jacket and it says 7.
Use my phone for weather.
I understand that weather data comes from the mobile, not an internal sensor, I use same provider (accuweather) in Fit and mobile. Well, today it seems to work properly, GPS is turn off...
Enviado desde mi GT-I9195 mediante Tapatalk
I too have had the temperature "stick". After going to Gear Fit manager and changing the clock to something else drained and then back it is working again. Not sure why it sticks. I'd welcome any tips people come up with.
From my Galaxy Note 2
I have been doing some test and I think I understand now how works the weather function: you must define a location through de Gear Fit Manager option (with GPS activated) and it will keep the current location till you change to another one through the Gear Fit Manager app, the location doesn't change automatically.
I was using the weather watch face with the old Gear Fit Manager, but with the update yesterday, the Weather watch face no longer works for me:
- First, the time uses a smaller font which I don't link
- The weather area remains a box with text to 'Tap here to use location info on mobile device'. Clicking on it brings up the weather widget settings on the phone where nothing seems to make a difference. I can't get the actual weather to appear on the watch.

I have the same issue and using the Accuweather premium app will not work, even though it the gear fit uses the basic version of Accuweather, which requires GPS on... It kills the battery...
Here is what you need, put both files in system/app PUT right permissions rw-rw-r or 0664 and weather on gear fit will work.

Gmail label colors not syncing properly

I make extensive use of colored labels to organize my Gmail account inbox and that has always worked well on my previous phones, the latest being a HTC One M8 running CM13. Unfortunately it no longer seems to sync the label colors properly on my new Nexus 6P (also running CM13). Only 3 out of 28 labels have their proper color, the rest are just gray (like labels where you don't set a color). Interestingly, the same three labels always work properly if I clear the app data and set it up again. I also looked at the app data stored under /data/data/com.google.android.gm but saw nothing that looked related but I was unable to open one of the databases.
I have seen one or two other references to people having this problem but unfortunately nobody mentioned a solution. Has anyone had this problem before and if so, how did you fix it?
TL;DR: My gmail app doesn't sync label colors properly. Any solution?
I just did a factory reset on my phone last night and now I'm encountering the same issue. Did anything resolve this for you?

I've had this problem for a week or so. Yours seems to have solved itself much quicker than that.
Hi there,
It worked for me (2 of 3 accounts were grey). Hope it will work for you. What I did (after tried all suggested method like untick sync, clear cache, blablabla ...):
1) back to gmail interface with my computer and change one label color to another color
2) wait a bit (~30s to 1 minute)
3) back to android gmail app, and select "all messages" folder to see all of them.
Et voilà ! I recover all label colors.
Hope that helps.

Thanks! I'll try that out. I did try changing the color of one label before but I might have changed it back too fast.
EDIT: That did it! I think the key difference was that I didn't open All mail before. Now it properly synced them all and picked up the change when I switched the label I modifed back to its regular color.

In case this helps anyone: I just had the same issue, also on CM13, fresh install. The above trick didn't work for me. What solved it was changing the permissions for the app: when I looked in Settings -> Apps -> GMail -> Permissions, the Storage permission was off. Issue fixed as soon as I turned that on...
For me it was a combination of clearing cache, force stopping the app and then reloading it. Labels had proper colours after that.
Edit: I forgot to say that gmail app had also access to storage.
Not working for me ..

I've had this problem for a couple weeks now, ever since I got my new phone. Unfortunately I can't get any of the suggestions here to work for me. I tried the change-color steps, with and without opening All Mail beforehand, turned on the Storage permission, and cleared cache/force stop/reloaded the app. So far none of this has restored the label colors.
The only thing that worked for me was disabling 2 factor authentication, sync and enable 2 factor authentication again.
Thank you
