I give up.... no more flashing for me - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

*begin rant* I give up. I'm tired of flashing different roms everytime just to have a stable device. I've tried all the ics roms for our device, but all seem to have their different issues to deal with. I'm now going to stick to rooted stock gb, for I feel that it meets my needs ,though its slow as hell. Imma wait for the official ics update, hopefully that is stable enough with no issues. The leaks have terrible battery life.
On another note, pun intended, if the whole T-Mobile modem situation doesnt work out, looks like imma sell this bad boy. I love the size and the screen, but I value stability. Maybe I'll wait for cm9 to come out alongside the official kernel. If that doesn't help, bye bye g note.
Anyone else feel like this? Imma try out saurom in the mean time, tho I'm in love with ics.
Dueces.
*end of rant.

Saurom on dag's kernel is the only rom I will ever flash until we get access to the kernel

I felt the same way until I tried flapjaxx base ics. Its very stable compared to the others I've tried.

I really think it is an app causing your issues, or the way you are restoring them. The latest ICS leak is rock solid for me, not a single FC after weeks of use, and insane battery life. Off the charger for 14 hours and at 68% right now.
Try going to a solid no frill ROM (might I suggest the one by Flappjaxx). Set the CPU to use the FJ settings. Then just try a basic setup for a while. Don't go crazy with the apps, just configure mail and whatnot, see how everything goes for a day or two.

Do yourself a favor and down load this rom, i have been using for about 2weeks and its more stable than GB.

Flashing aint for everyone. So, if you can't take it then leave, I guess. I don't know what you're whining about. I have had several fast, stable ROMs on my Note. I am currently using Flapjaxxx IMM. (By the way, the link above me is for a rip off of Flapjaxxx ROM so yes, it works.) As already stated, your issues may very well be your own cause. Depending on how you flash and restore your data you may be messing it up yourself. One last thing. You have no right to feel so entitled. These ROMs, and XDA as a whole, is experimental and FREE. So stop whining.
Before giving up try FlapJaxx, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664980

I agree with the others. Try flashing Flapjaxx's ROM and installing your apps again manually instead of using Tibu. Most likely something app related, because most of the roms are stable as hell for most people.

My problem isn't exactly the roms; its the idea that I need to flash in order to have a stable/fast device. I've been lurking here since the old winmo days. First device was a T-mobile mda, and now i'm here with the note. I'm very grateful for the community, for obvious reasons. I'm getting old lol, and no time to keep flashing and experimenting. I tried the hyfer, clean install n everything... touchwiz kept crashing. I tried flapp's rom, kept fc'ing whenever i used cut/copy/paste. numerous other small issues. its the little things. I'm not complaining. I'm just deciding to stick to stock lol. So far my flash counter is up to 16. I keep odin'ing back to stock.

Which version of Flap's did you try? It was updated like a week and a half ago, and cut copy and paste work just fine.

It's unfortunate that you are having these issues. I'm running the latest unofficial CM9 and it's solid with everything I use (don't use spen) . I haven't had an fc yet.
I'm at 31% after 15 hours off charger. 2 hours of screen time and 40 minutes of phone time as well as some steaming music through my Bluetooth, headset.
I will say that I'm very anxious for Samsung to release the official ICS so we can get an overclock kernel.

I've tried most of the roms with varying degrees of success....I am currently running the hybrid 6.2 and it had been fast and stable! I was running an earlier version and did an upgrade but ended up doing a full wipe....I reinstalled all of my apps manually and it really works great now.... Just my two cents worth....lol

Thanks guys for the response. Actually, I think something might be wrong with the device. Even after odin'ing back to stock, i'm still greeted by fc's. Perhaps i'm using the wrong odin file? Like i just flashed saurom, and still problems galore. i'll keep you updated.
Thank you all.

Like someone said, flashing isn't for everyone. If you are having problems now you didn't have on stock rom before, obviously the way you flash isn't right. Especially when others are okay on problems you have on the same rom.

I too have decided to stay with Gingrrbread and have not even been tempted to try any of the ICS roms. I am a grown up and I have the patience to wait for the official ICS and the kernel source to be released. I never get caught up in leaks cause they are a hassle. I am on Gingerbread and everything works as it should as opposed to a buggy ICS rom thats been rigged to sorta work. If anyone uses a rom that has more than two things that simply don't work they are wasting their time and I know of at least 10 things that don't work on any of the ICS roms we have available. To each his own though. I am sure the roms will be excellent as soon as the official ICS and source are released so I don't care to wait. I have been using the same rom for three months and I doubt any of the ICS roms can touch it in any way. Try Solaris Prime A New Hope rom you won't be disappointed.

I don't think there's that much broke with the ICS roms. On Flapjaxx's ROM the only thing broke afaik is MHL out, which I don't use, so to me, the ROM is fully functional. Plus, since it's ICS, I also have the premium suite and SVoice, which is even more capability than any GB ROM. Don't get me wrong, I loved Solaris Prime when I used to run it, but once ICS leaked, there was no turning back. I guess the only other thing I can't do is overclock, which doesn't matter to me anyways, as ICS is already smoother than Solaris Prime was overclocked.

Not to be rude but if you can't appreciate the work thats done by the community then you shouldn't be here. Every dev provides disclaimers (which most people don't bother to read I guess), and they do so because they don't want to deal with people whining. I do a lot of free work for people and there is nothing more disheartening than someone moaning and whining that the free help/work I'd done was not enough, when in reality the same amount of effort would've cost them $200+ dollars without the personal touches.
Blame Samsung, they haven't officially released ICS for this device. You come in here and start badmouthing ICS roms, which were produced by the effort of devs, who ask us for our input, then have to wade through the innumerable useless posts and weed out the genuine feedback they need to improve the user experience for us.
/end rant.

I wouldn't really rant about it on XDA, but from what I read in the various ROM threads the OP isn't far off. The ROMs are generally good, EXCEPT for X, Y, Z, oh this doesn't work, and there's a bug there, etc.
I often see a lot of this is due to people trying silly DPI numbers, and that's just self-inflicted problems... Unfortunately a lot of that gets attributed to ROM problems when it should not be, and in fact at least one ROM thread has very clear if you're NOT running 320, don't report bugs.
Personally, stock rooted GB is working great and I'll keep using it until I see an ICS ROM that doesn't have as many caveats as I see in various threads. Some of these might be feature-over-function problems (adding too much random stuff into a ROM) but I'd say a lot of it is due to kernel and ICS Source. Hopefully the latter is less a problem as it was a month ago or so, but the kernel of course is still outstanding.
I do my fair share of tinkering on secondary devices and tablets, but my Note is my primary phone, so I don't mess with it.
Let's face it, there are a lot of people who don't want to tinker, they just want to put a ROM on their phone. That's the XDA atmosphere of today. IMO those people should not flash random ROMs on their phone.

Flapjaxx ICS rom is excellent .
Guaranteed my stock build was worse. And battery was horrible on stock. Rooted or not that bloated 2.3.6 stock rom wasted my time.
If ya don't like bugs ....wipe data /factory reset and put the phone down.
They "all " have bugs.
At least our batteries don't melt like an isheep phone ..LOL ....g

You should try objections ucle2 #2 RC1 its really fast and stable. I know what you mean it gets old having to be flashing every other day but what can you do. Its the only way to keep up with the software.

I think I have flashed practically every ROM that exists from MiUI, ICS, GB
Have loaded on as many launchers as I know
changes things on a weekly, daily even hourly basis
I am constantly wanting to flash a new ROM, never satisfied.
I have swapped my SGS2 three times for Iphones but have always come back
Now I am contemplating swapping for a Sensation
STOP...what the hell am I doing...hardly use my device as a phone, hardly use my device for anything apart from changing it, reloading stuff, backups...I feel lost

Well it depends in what line of work you are involved and how is your phone need to act in that.
I for myself have not tried a single custom ROM (once that CM and I was done) in this 9 months and never will. However that wasn't due to my line of work but it's a sorta an oath that I'll never flash any custom ROM on mine.
Same goes for launcher, using Go for 4 months and never looked to anything else.
Yes I flashed lot of kernels, but not that many until I found the best. Inf act there were several times my device had up time of more than 7/8 days.
Android is for doing things, but the problem is some do it as a freak, and don't worry you ain't the only one out there, in fact you realised that you've done something wrong while others still don't.
I really hate it that way, but glad to see at least one member have finally realised it.
Atleast get a Senstion XE, the oldskool Sensation is so 90's.
Go back to stock. Problem solved.

My goodness, you're not the only one feeling like that.
Except for the swapping for iPhones bit, I can see myself in this too, constantly changing things, this and that.
Although I do use my SGS2 as a phone sometimes, I feel I spend more time just trying out new things only to come back to a stock Rom and rooting for Titanium Backup!
Trust me. You will get over it eventually. On my S2, I've only flashed about 5% compared to when I had the S1. I've been on Checkrom v2 for months now, and although I've tried newer roms and leaks I always go back to my nandroid backup.

So what? Some use it for games, some use it just as a phone, some for calendar and business scheduling, some for browsing, some for music listening. You use it for flashing and customizing. That's the beauty of this awesome phone: you can do whatever you want with it. And this is the answer which I give to ignorant people who ask me "Why do you need such a phone, you can't use it 100%". "Well of course I can't, because it can do so much, that it would be impossible to use it for everything. You use your 3310 in 100%, because all it can do is phone, and it does it well. I need more than that."

I'm a flash addict too! Help!!! I've blown away my last backup for HyperDroid. Don't get me wrong its a good and quick rom. I got hooked on Deep-Core v2, a good and almost there ICS rom. I tried DC v2 and I got the ****s because I couldnt restore my apps with Titanium. Soo looking and waiting for another stable ICS rom to use. I don't MIUI, sorry just my preference. I know a lot of people use it.
So anyone who doesn't have the same psychological condition the OP seems to have is a kid by your reckoning, eh ?
Nice logic there Isaac

So Basically no stable JB Rom exists

I have tried all JB roms for the AT&T Samsung Note 1. Now I am currently running Collective. I have over the past 5 months read through all their Forums and troubleshooting and have followed all instructions to the T. I wont be bashed or called a noob because all phones are not alike and some users don't have certain issues from what I read. BUT others have most definitely had my issues lol. I get random reboots, also seems like phone does not update properly like updates for apps through play store. I reboot my phone and all of a sudden i get new emails and there's 5 updates where my phone while on told me nothing about them. The reboots are the bigger issue. Is there no Stable JB rom out there? I keep being told go back to ICS, which I am believing that after JB being out for so long nobody is able to make the roms stable. Never seen such a long period of no stable rom coming out for a phone. Appreciate any advice ty
Hmm, there is two that I know of now. Cyanogen mod 10, and paranoid android which has cm10 as a base

My first experience with CM10 was that it was not stable, especially coming from CM9 which was rock solid but the last week or so of builds have performed very well for me. Within the last week my phone has rebooted 2x's on me. Both were just as I hung up a call the screen froze then the phone rebooted. Otherwise, I have not had any issues. My previous ROM was JellyBeer which as not quite as stable but still pretty good. I did clean wipes, loaded CM10 (latest) then JB GAPPS 20121011. After rebooting the phone I run "fix permissions" from CWM. I go to the play store and download my apps from there and not from a back up. Hope this helps, good luck.

You must be ON CRACK? The PAC MAN rom is the most stable rom i have ever ran.... and i've tried them all. NO random reboots and no issues. give it a shot man
Isn't the cm10 Jellybean kernel for the note just a modified ICS Kernel with bits and pieces from other kernels put in one package in order to run Jellybean. There's the stability issue. There's no source for the GN Jb kernel yet so they'll be issues. In my experience reboots and lost data connection. That's why I went back to ICS. Everything works. But I would like to check out Paranoid Android 3.0 ,4.2 aospa builds coming out soon. Don't know if there using a cm kernel or in-house built.

Nov 8 PA and linero (pacman) kernel and only get a reboot one every 5-7 days . Were on all others was like 3-4 a day . Also I have found (I could be crazy) but when a reboot yellow screen of death occurs power off the phone then restart seems to stop the reboots for much longer ,not that I need to do it anymore.

DING DING DING!!!
No source, mo' problems!
We need source to drop for JB, especially the kernel source...
Until then, we can get "good" builds, but not "Great" builds...
Source is the key, and according to Samsung, the note will get the official upgrade in december...I dont know more than that.....g
so was there ever a great 4.04 aosp or aokp rom for the i717??
by great i mean everything working.. hdmi, usb otg, etc...
on the s2 it seemed that as soon as the source dropped everyone went to jellybean..
so there never was a near flawless build.. and there never were sources for the hdmi and some other drivers..
i dont see it being different on any samsung product..
See this is why I made this thread. Simply put I spend countless hours searching threads and topics and I jsut got 90% of my answers there. I have used cm Roms in the past and I liked them. I am not a expert at rooting but one gets there over time. I really do not think any question is a stupid one but where it posted can be wrong place to post. I do very much appreciate everything everyone has posted. If you have any other imput or great ideas please post. Again ty very much:good:
THE most important thing to remember is that no 2 phones will act the same on every ROM, so, anytime someone says a certain rom is great, or another one sucks, you can only take that with a grain of sand....the ONLY way to know how any rom will run for you is to install it on YOUR phone.
As others have said, until there is source from Samsung, NO JB rom will run perfectly 100% of the time for everyone, so, if you don't want to deal with the possibility of reboots or other weird issues, you are probably best sticking with an ICS rom...
Actually, I have found the JB's to be more stable than the ICS Roms. I have found AOKP Milestone 1 the most stable. No reboots and offers tabletUI if you want it.
Right now, I am running Dman's PACman and find it to be very smooth and stable.

[Q] Thinking about buying: Questions about this device

Well I'm reading up on different phones and I was almost sold on the LG Nexus 4 until I read further into the no LTE issue and then it clicked that while it can come with 16 gigs of memory, it's internal and therefore if the phone dies violently...or just gets lost, I lost a lot of important pics should i not back up to my comp enough. Which I don't honestly.
So I'm reading up on this phone and it has everything I need except one hitch, it doesn't come stock with Jellybean. LGs site says it come with 4.0 ICS. So I'm wondering if it does get the OS update and if so to what version. That will honestly be the deal breaker on whether I commit to buying this device in the near future.
I know i could just read through this whole forum..but really I just want a simple answer with my making my head explode with all the extra info..cause my ADD hide will sit here and read everything out of boredom. And I'm just not in the mood tonight. Please and thank you!

Well, while there's not an "official" JB update yet, there are a few unofficial ones that are working quite well, as well as CM/AOSP in the making. You can also just convert it to a nexus (basically) if you'd like, so I'd say go for it personally. However I'll probably get flamed for even answering you because you should really search since there are probably about a million threads just like this. Just food for thought...
NEVER buy a phone for what it MIGHT do in the future...
The Optimus G will probably get JB in the future - but there is a slight chance it won't. And who knows when, could be months.
If you don't mind rooting and tinkering, there are a few ports that mostly (but not completely or perfectly) run JB now.
If that works for you, then there you go.
Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk 2
If you need or really want JB, and don't feel like rooting, wait a few months for the next crop of super phones. By the time this gets official JB support, the next batch will already be here with faster processors, etc. However, if you do like to mod and root and tinker, as was mentioned, there are some developers working on AOSP and CM10.1. Hopefully that will be out by the end of this month, but we don't ask for or get ETA's around here...etiquette, and stuff.
Once that door opens, I would imagine the ROM's and custom development will take-off.

I guess I should have worded my question differently. I should have said, has it gotten the update, rather than does it get it. But from the way it sounds, it has not. I like rooting and tinkering. But I really just want a stock JB phone to work with and tinker from there. I appreciate the answers though. Thanks.
Snow released a fully functional JB port based on stock for a different LGOG (not sure which one) which works phenomenally. Though I'm more for ICS instead of JB, I'm giving it a shot. The performance is outrageous.

(I have to have a phone that works, out of beta, without bugs and crashes and spending days on workarounds. I tried AOSP on my Samsung Galacxy SII Skyrocket and it was nothing but problems. Camera crashing, editing configs.... it was a beta at best and unreliable. I don't think I want a custom ROM ever again if that is the experience with it, but I do love JB)

Everything's working fine on my end too. The only other problem i've heard is of some people not having their 32g or 64g external card show up while others have. I just flashed it last night, granted it's still early to know for sure without testing a few more days but I'm really enjoying it and things are flawless right now.

Urgent Recommendation

A friend of mine recently got a Samsung Vibrant from someone in his family. The thing is still on Eclair. He wants a custom rom. Now, i know XDA's policy on "What's the best rom" kinda threads, and i would just tell him to try them all till he finds one that satisfies his needs, but he himself doesn't have a clue about the entire process, and i'm all he's got. He's also not gonna be in town for much longer, so i need to flash him a rom quickly before he leaves. The only requirements are:
1) Should be stable
2) Should have fair battery life.
3) should be atleast ICS. This part is absolutely crucial, as his college WIFI uses a proxy, and there's absolutely no way to access this on pre 4.0 devices (Well, it's also available in 3.0, but that's not applicable here).
Can someone recommend a good rom?

Don't go with a nightly rom, they sometimes are not stable. Also avoid ICS roms, they have the EUbug (renders internal sd card useless). Go with a jellybean rom (4.2), my favorite is Avatar rom, very stable and tons of themes.

As much as I love all the available custom roms out there, there is a trade off with memory consumption, gps, Bluetooth, etc. I would have to recommend using a rom made for the phone if you want something stable. I would not use ICS though. I finally made up my mind and will be using a optimized Froyo rom with no bloat, customizations, themes. Just do what a phone was suppose to do.
If wants stability & speed try trigger(froyo 2.2,all works) if wants some modern try slimbean or infamous AOKP,but have GPS issues(4.2.2) this roms works with 170-210 free ram.Vibrant t959 is a good pet for daily work! Good Luck!

The OP said it has to at least be a 4.0 ROM...........
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah guys, i need a minimum of 4.0, there's no way to get proxy working on any of the lower versions.
Also yeah, i don't think i want a nightly, since this is gonna be a one time flash, there's no way he's gonna flash later nightlies or even a later stable. I give him a rom now and that's exactly what he'll be using for the next year.
Tomorrow I'll be updating infamous aokp. Its stable fast and gives me good battery life. You can flash that!

[Q] Good First JB Rom?

I haven't flashed in well over a year, and I'm still running one of the first stable ICS builds. That has to change.
Can anyone recommend a good JB-based ROM for me? My priorities are stability, battery life and features, in roughly that order.
I'm thinking of trying BeanStalk 4.3.05 or ParanoidKANGDroid 2.3.3, but am definitely open to other suggestions
Thanks!

I recommend PACMan Rom 4.2.2. Highly stable, very few problems for my Note

so many people ask this same question and anyone with real experience here is going to tell you..................
every ROM is going to act differently on every phone. it also depends on what kind of user you are.
common rule here (im not being a jerk, you should know this) is read, read, read.
to show you how often someone asks this very question, go back out one screen and down about 5 threads "looking for an excellent ROM"
I have posted my honest opinions and what you can expect from all available firmwares.
good luck my friend

This is why I am trying to describe what kind of user I am. To reiterate, my priorities are stability, battery life, functionality and speed, roughly in that order.
To elaborate, I want:
Something that will run smoothly
Something who's battery will last for a day if I use it with moderation
Something that, while not necessarily on the bleeding edge of development, has lots of new features
Something with a smooth UI and good, modern capabilities
In terms of specific features that I'd like to try or find necessary, I want a ROM that supports the Jelly Bean panoramic picture mode; one that supports Wifi Hotspots; one with a good toggle menu for preserving battery and turning on / off common features, flash, etc.; and one that has a variety of other useful things to explore / try out. Maybe something with good audio capabilities?

again, if you haven't, read the other post.
from the sounds of it, you may want to go with 4.1.2. it is based off of Touchwiz. SUPER solid and great support from the community. not many updates. it is so solid, it does not need them. but others are still there for support.
personal choice.......PADAWAN........others have had some issues with lag (biggest complaint) and I refer them ( an I have the most thanks on thread) to p.355-378. read through those pages. obviously others have not figured it out cause they don't read. those setting had my phone running better than it ever ran, even out of box.
the only way you will know is to try for yourself. but it is lie Trident gum.............4 out of 5 dentist surveyed.........
as always, good luck in your hunt

I want to make sure that I understand this correctly. The latest update pushed out by SAMSUNG for the i717 was 4.1.2, so therefore the roms built off of 4.1 are using SAMSUNG TouchWiz as a base. The one's built off of 4.2 are using some other base, be it AOKP, CM, etc. Is this correct?
I'm not so certain that I want to go to a 4.1 ROM. Looking over the feature-set of Google's 4.2, I'm seeing quite a bit that I want - for instance, I *really* want Photo Sphere.
I think that if there's a stable version of 4.3 that isn't a battery hog, and that has a decent extended feature-set on-top of it, then that's what I want. That said, if 4.3 is very unstable I'm up for trying 4.2. The only way I'd want 4.1 is if there is no 4.2 or above that is good with battery usage and more-or-less stable.
So, any recommendations with that in mind?

first part..................correct.
that is the good thing about 4.2, highly customizable, but you sacrifice stability. lots of updates, but I am afraid that is because there is mainly one thing that is trying t be fixed, RANDOM REBOOTS. some have success controlling them with an alternate KERNAL which provides the ability to OC/UV, but it can be a constant maintinence on your part. honestly, there is never a good time for a reboot. 4.2 is a much bigger battery hog and a reboot is only going to suck more of it.
second part.................. that's what APK's are for. if it is one simple app ( for whatever personal reason) someone is stuck on, any times you can install it that way. just download it through browser on phone and install with file manager of choice.
third part.................. not that 4.3 is more unstable or battery hog. (I have better battery on 4.3) not necessarily unstable. I just think it is still very early in the game and trying to get some kinks worked out. 4.1.2 was the same way. everybody is impatient, just the nature of the beast. give the amazing and talented developers time. I find 4.3 very smoooooooth, but I have been getting bootloops and I am thinking it is most likely my APP2ZIPP file (which has my apps) I am flashing. so I don't have to keep installing all my same apps one at a time. don't think it is working with 4.3 transition.
the rest is up to you my friend. its all about what YOU want and what you are willing to tolerate as far as constant maintinence.
oh and by the way I am NOT running PADAWAN right now...........its been to solid. I was getting bored. I am addicted to flashing maybe. I ran it for months, flawlessly. since coming off, the longest I have been on any ROM is MAYBE 3 days before changing whether it be the reboots, battery or bootloop issues.
I am not bored though, it definitely give me troubleshooting experience and enables me to help others which I am enjoying

Do all of the 4.2 ROMs suffer random reboots? I see you mention that an alternate kernel may help, but are there any ROMs that have either incorporated in said kernel or that have found another fix of some kind for stability?
Also, with 4.3: are the random reboots an issue there as well? What kinds of kinks are current issues?

On 4.2 they have option to OC/UV with stock kernels. It can just be a constant adjustment in those values to minimalize the reboots. With 4.3 I guess you can say I had reboots, my problem was the reboot would never complete and would just bootloop.
I am just being patient and giving it some time. I know many are working on it cause there is so little action in development thread. Many impatient members have driven developers away by constant pestering. I think many have learned that lesson. That why it is so quiet.
Trust me, it is the calm before the storm

Hmmm... what 4.3 were you using that gave you boot-loops? I'm thinking of trying PAC-Man, and I'm debating between the 4.2.2 and the 4.3 - as it seems that the latter is fairly stable from what I've surmised.

anything 4.3 was doing it. again I am thinking it may have been my APP2ZIPP file.
here is a tip as to what I do when contemplating new ROM...............
obviously I am looking at original OP post for features to what I want. then I go to last page of thread and read backwards. this gives me the most recent problem ROM is having and hint as to whether there is a fix. if it is something I can deal with, then I go for it. if its too much hassle, then I don't.
I thought I was the only one... I I do the exact same thing capt.

Since you, captemo try a lot of ROMs, which 4.2.2 ROM, that you have tried, has lasted the longest without a reboot (how many days)?
Carbon 1.8 was the longest for me thus far, 4 days but after that it went into a reboot frenzy and would reboot 2-3 times a day. Now I'm on CM 10.1 8/23 nightly and it has lasted 2.5 days before reboot. Let's see if it will last longer than that.
Since it's become clear to me that the main issue here is finding something both modern and stable, I've started a different thread that makes that clear in the title. It can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425090

again, everybody's phone is different. I am not sure why, but my phone cant run CARBON, any version. which kind of bums be out cause of all the options available. many of the 4.2's would do exactly that for me, I get a couple of days out of them, then reboots galore. Carbon, (4.2, 4.3, alternate kernels) is just a no go for me. it's like my phone has an allergy.
it was always suggested to me to try stock KERNEL and let it settle for couple days and hell if I had to flash something, might as well flash a new ROM. then I ran out of ROM's. that's when I started trying KERNELS.
most recently, I have had success with BLOWNFUZE's AOKP and compatible UBER (I think it in OP) and also ROOTBOX w/ UBER. ROOTBOX has some pretty cool features. different sounds and statusbar changing colors in different menus. pretty neat. AOKP, just a bit more stable maybe. I am not sure I had the OC/UV settings dialed in just right though. battery wasn't quite lasting me. want to go back and tweak those some more.
in the meantime, and I don't know why I haven't tried in the past, I have been running SONS of ANDROID. 6 days, stock kernel, NO REBOOTS
in between, I am trying to keep my eyes open for some breakthrough's on 4.3. of course I am also trying work out my options for getting the MEGA 6.3.
again, good luck, read, and remember all phones are just a smidge different. that's smidge can be ALL the difference
