[Q] Overclocking the EVO - HTC EVO 3D

Hi,
I am using the SenseLess 3.1 rom, and just love it.
I would like, however, for the sake of beeing a geek, overclock it past its 1.2GHz mark.
I know the device is capable of it, I just don't know which kernel to use, and since I don't have enough posts yet, I can't ask this question in the rom's thread.
Can anybody help?

I am not gsm, but is that ROM a gingerbread or ics ROM? I ask because as far as I know, the ics ROMs use the stock kernel which is not overclockable.

Hi.
Maybe u can try RCMix Kernel or Silverneedle Kernel.....
I think u can overclock past 1.5ghz with other one kernel but depends on your phone too...

[Q] Fastest Vibrant Kernel/ROM?

Hey guys. I was wondering what kernel and or ROM is the fastest availible at the moment.
I've been following the Android Developement pages here for a while, and I consider myself somewhat proficient at flashing firmware, etc.
I'm running CM7 on my Vibrant right now, and I was wanting to flash a different ROM. I considered going back to stock, but I wanted to get input on what is the fastest availible right now.
Also: what lagfixes and overclocking tools do you use? I am trying to make my Vibrant as fast as possible.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Malice is the fastest. Bullet kernel is the only one which can do 1.4Ghz so i am assuming its the fastest.
Agreed! kernel/ROM (imho) Bullet1.42Ghz/Malice2.3.1.
Another good kernel i like is Tigersbloodv3
Both those kernels OC well if ur phone can handle it.
If your phone doesn't play well with OC my personal favorite is CwK
Also, download Spare Parts from the market and set both animations to "fast"... this makes the ROMs appear much faster.
The real test is going back and forth between apps and the load time.
"fast" is kind of a floating point. As someone already mentioned, fast can sometimes be as easy as speeding up the animations.
I've had great luck with the SimplyGalaxy roms due to their ability to remain fast months after flashing.
Cool! Thanks for all the input, guys!
What about overclocking and lagfix utilities?
I heard there is an app or tool that you can overclock, but set to underclock when the phone is not in use...
Also, I was using one click lag fix on stock, is there anything like that I need for these ROMs, or does it come built in?
For over/under clocking, try setcpu from the market.
OCLF is nowhere near as good as Voodoo. Most ROMs that are available in the dev section come with a voodoo injected kernel.
Try vibrace overclocked. I guerentee you will love it!

Malice or Bi Winning W/ Bullet Kernel.
Then spare parts to adjust animation speeds. <3
I personally found MIUI to be the snappiest at 1.3 ghz.
I've been running custom ROMs on my vibrant since the day it became possible, and every time I install something other than one of Eugene's ROMs I come to regret it.
CM7 with a custom OC/UV kernel gets a 2100 Quadrant that translates to a really snappy UI and 3D faster than any 2.2 ROM.

I reach quadrant scores in the 2700's on 2.2.1 roms....but what does that really matter.

[Q] Overclock - Undervolt 2.3.4?

I'm trying not to sound like a noob unable to use the search button, but I have been looking for the answer to this and can't find a solid result.
Is there any way to overclock / undervolt on 2.3.4? Or has the source kernel not been released yet?
I am currently running Infected Rom 1.4.2 if that makes any difference, i'd really like some way to overclock and/or undervolt when I please
Thank's to whoever responds without a smart ass comment!
(Unlocked through HTC method w/ cwm recovery.)
Still wondering about this honestly, sorry for the random bump here.
I'd really like to know about this, thank you!
It depends on your kernel. If your running Infected I suggest reading through that thread and seeing what, if any, alternate kernels play nice with that rom. I don't know offhand as I haven't used that rom.

[Q] Atrix 4G CM7 Ba2tF-Olympus updating Kernel and suggestions

Hey guys, I've been looking at updating my kernel if it was necessary.
Basically, here's my current information about my phone:
Kernel version: 2.6.32.39-MB860-CM7-g54722f1 [email protected]#4
Mod version: CyanogenMod-7.1.0.Ba2tF-Olympus
I'm would like to update the Kernel on my phone. I wasn't sure if I could just pick up any Kernel out there for the Atrix 4G. I wasn't sure if it was dependent on what Mod version you were running etc.
If someone can let me know it's ok to pick up any kernel that would work for atrix 4g or if it was dependent on the mod version and suggest any kernel that has worked for you and any others that you recommend not using.
I have updated roms but restored back because it once in a while during the day and sometimes in use would reboot...some people that I have read on the forum indicated to update the kernel would/might resolve the issue. So your suggestions and recommendation is highly appreciated. Thank you.
You can flash any of the kernels developed for CM7.
I would recommend any of fauxs kernels depending on whether or not you use OC. He has kernels ranging from 1Ghz to 1.45Ghz. All of the have been stable for me with good battery life.

Honestly ur best bet would be just to update to the newest cm7 nightley your on a really old version and kissing out on some good updates the kernel that vo.es with it is really nice or at least upgrade to the rc1 but i will also agree with the faux kernels i use the 1.45 overclock with out ant issues and live it

Agreed. Get off Ba2tF. It's not any more stable than the release candidates, in fact it is probably significantly less so. Also, tons of important updates have been made to the kernel and just about everything else.

Att and Samsung no new information on ics

Hello
Ive been fighting for the last 2 months on new firmware for att version of galaxy note ice cream sandwitch.
What Samsung has told me there isn't any date coming out its the same thing over and over.
Im going to contiue to fight this battle until they punch the firmware out in the us
I like note i might as well root the device

You gotta fight!!!!! ....for your righttt!!!!! ......to UPDATEEEEE!!!. . Its cool man just relax, root your phone and flash one of the many amazing ROMs the devs have cooked up for us. Trust me when I tell you... you won't be missing the official update
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
On the rom in my sig and I will NOT be flashing the official POS update. They can keep it. This rom blows the official bloated ICS away. Already have premium suite too.
Quit your fight. You're wasting time.

Uhm. That's not entirely true. The offical ICS isn't useless. If it's release, so will the source. That means better cooked roms as well as OC kernels.

Couldnt of said it better
I'm just waiting for the official release. I think it well be soon enough, don't worry. Like stated above. Once out i would let it settle into the dev section for a week or two to mature, then flash a custom ROM based off the official ics. Of course i would be running the official ics for a little bit until the custom roms mature. Just my own plan.

its true, the official update is useless to me. but when the official one comes out, so does the source. and with it comes better roms from devs but also, and more importantly to me.... OC kernal... i need that, i tried those ics roms that are out now, they're all great, but its too slow... If you ever download torrentz, you know what im talking about. If im running Adownloader to download a torrent, i cant watch a video at the same time at 1.5 ghz. but at 1.83, i can.

Why wait? There are a couple that are remarkably mature and stable now. My daily driver is CM9. I'm tempted to try the Hybrid. Anything made by or if he is involved FJ is a quality product. Screw the official update crap. They can keep it. All I want is the official source released, then, well, the sky is the limit.
ive been waiting for official since i bought this thing..two days ago i said f%$k it...20 minutes later i was rooted and ROMed..i flashed ICS Objection..and i love it ... its so smooth and clean!!!

I don't give a piss about OCing. Anyone calling ics slow hasn't flashed the roms available for the note.
Ocing this phone will not benefit me in ANY way whatsoever. Already score 3800-4200 in quadrant on this rom. Have full premium suite. Run ANY game at a rate that is super smooth. Get enough battery life to have 4.5 h of screen on with 24h unplugged.
Pray tell, how the hell will official ics help me? It won't.
Quit trying to sound cool and say "oh but ocing!" "oh but this or that!"
Fact is, with current roms the note is hitting close to its maximum potential and there isn't much else to improve.
Actually flash what's currently available before you comment on what the note "will be". It's not going to get much better.

There is a lot more you can do with a kernel besides overclocking after the source is released. It will benefit each of us. I say ICS is useless without the kernel source. It may be good now for the people that have updated to the ICS roms but it will be great after the scource is released. You can say what you but there will be no comparison to the roms now and the roms after getting the source even without overclocking. You must have no idea what your talking about or maybe your just not familiar with custom linux based kernels. The custom kernels is where its at.

Not much will.
You have no ****ing clue who my XDA identities are. Ill wager I know a damn lot more than you about Linux kernels.
With the current rom features, things can marginally improve but,for the most part, aren't going to change much.

All I'll say is if you can't watch a video or play games without your phone stuttering, exchange it.
When I was on GB without OC no problems. And now that I'm on ICS, still no problems. My buddy's note is the same way.

will it be possible in the near future to overclock evo 3d on any ics rom?

hello there
my qustion is, if it will be an option to overclock our phones on any ics rom ?
because on gingerbread, with the right kernel, it was possible, so I thought and asked myself why it is not possible to overclock it now on new ics roms....
I dont know much about what you must do and mod to enable overclocking in kernels...so dont be afraid or angry when seeing this..
is this because htc is not offering the source code of the new kernel? (btw is this legal? thought that the linux kernel is on gnu licence...)
anyway, was there ever a source code of the gingerbread kernels ? is this the main problem when devs trying to mod something advanced like overclocking possibility?
I've liked my phone on gingerbread overclocked, it was really fast (not the launcher, now it's rendered on gpu as everybody knows..)
and battery also was no problem.......
it would be nice if someone could write a good statement and a good info of what must be done to enable it, because I want to learn also something new..

It probably will be able to be over clocked. Im not an evo user myself but the same thing almost apllies for all phones. I cant give you a big explanation because im noob still but i can tell you something. Overclocking is going to be different in ics because ics has more features meaning more speed. So kernal makers will have to try to make it more ram efficent. Or stop un needed things when ever your not using them. Then it will stay fast without ics kicking in with its slowness at times. Right now thats all i can say. Its 01:00 here and i cant think so i might edit this some other time.
Sent from the phone of Gamers
Overclocking was made possible on gingerbread roms when HTC released kernel sources and thus the developers was able to edit the kernel sources to allow for higher CPU speeds, then build the kernel and release it to us.
The same thing will happen when they release kernel sources for ICS (Or it might even be Jelly Bean by that time, who knows).
