i9100 stuck at Samsung Galaxy SII logo - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all

Recovery does not work either
What I have tried
flashing a stock rom
flashing a kernel
flashing bootloader
flashing unbrick file using ASB box
flashing the handset with SPT box
flashing .pit
repartion

My guess is that it is NAND rw problem, and I will have to wait for my riff box service cables to arrive, so I can jtag it back to life (I have the box, they forgot to ship the service cables)
Any ideas is appriciated
Best regards

You actually see the logo? Can you get into Download mode? Not recovery.
If not you either need to Jtag or she has somehow triggered the super brick bug. Then the device can't even be repaired with the RIFF box.

Yup, it is stuck at the Samsung GSII logo...
I can easily get into Download mode... But I have no recovery... Im thinking that it is a eMMC fault, I am trying to find a place to buy the eMMC and get it replaced/reballed

Well if you can get into Download mode, I'd suggest you try flashing the CM9 resurrection edition. It's the only "custom Rom installation package" I know that comes with everything to start from every base.
If it's really a broken emmc chip, you better have the knowledge to replace it yourself (or know someone who has). It's neither an easy nor cheap procedure.

Im at a loss here... Why do you keep on going on about recovery mode," Hmm can you post a link then?? I get a .zip that is CWM flashable ", when you say you have none but can easily get into download mode!!!!.
As Mistahbungle said," CM9 Resurrection is flashed via Odin in download mode ".
Read the Galaxy S2 guide here how to use Odin is also there.
How to fix a soft brick is here
And CM9 Resurrection is here flashable via Odin
Hope you know what your doing.

I apparently only found the CWM files, instead of the tar, that's why I was talking about CWM... but it is still dead...
Okay, you must have misunderstood me... I know how to use Odin, I know how to recover from a Soft brick, I know how to recover from hardbricks using JTAG... I am not a noob
I have all Samsung professional tools, riff, SPT, medusa, asb etc...

Hehe, it is just okay...
When I flashed the CM9 to it, I got the kernel panic uploade mode... So my guess is still NAND/eMMC fault...

Strange one. It seems like a hardware fault. Good luck with repairing that. Usually a motherboard replacement would be the way to go.

Can you check if you're able to get into stock recovery after flashing a stock ROM?
I have had similar problems on both SGS2 and on Gtab 8.9 after performing factory reset in latest CWM. The only solution was flashing a stock ROM and then factory reset from stock recovery (and then flashing whatever ROM I wanted to flash in the first place)
Could be worth trying.

It was a HW failure... I got it fixed under warranty, and they changed the PCB... Way more simple than changing the eMMC...

Had the same problem, stuck in logo. I tried flashing stock ROM, but it didn't save my situation. So I tried flashing CM9 Resurrection and managed to get into recovery mode. Then I reflashed the custom ROM I had earlier on and everything went up again. Thanks a lot.

same issue
I am also stuck at Samsung logo, i9100
I can get into recovery. I installed stock many times - no help. (I9100XWMS1_I9100XXMS4_I9100NEELS1_HOME.tar.md5)
I was missing my IMEI so I guess it is the efs folder fault.
I tried to fix the efs with backups, I have zipped EFS, but I can not go to system and replace the files.
If you have any ideas - please share it with me!
I also had a nandroid backup - no help as well.
my sgs2 is softbricked and I have download AND recovery mode, and still can't fix it ;(

did you try this guide?

Galaxy s2 odin error

I tried to flash a firmware via odin and it stucks to factoryfs.img.now i cant open my phone. When im flashing every firmware va odin it stucks at factoryfs.img.i tried to wipe everything from the stock recovery and retry but i had no success.when im flashing kernels i have no error.so i was wondering if i could flash cf-root and then when i will be into recovery push files via adb to internal sdcard.is this possible?if yes tell me how.If not tell me other ways to unbrick my device
Which firmware did you try? Try to flash a stock firmware. Go here and pick up the latest ROM and follow the instructions it is very well explained

Good luck
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
i flashed a stock firmware.i tried this and i had no result.if you can answer this i told about cwm and adb i would be very happy
try another cable.
I had similar problem because of a poor cable ordered from e-bay.
even if you are using the stock cable, try another one as it might be damaged.
gokhan thanks for your help but it didn't work.if i format the /system partition will i be able to get into download mode?
I don't see how you could get Odin to recognise your phone in order to format the system partition if you weren't able to get into download mode.
So I guess I'll play Captain Obvious...Can you get into download mode ?
If not, does Odin recognise the phone when you hook the phone up to a PC via a USB cable ? (a long shot I know but I'm trying to think of anything that might work here).

You really need to start giving more information.
Excactly what rom did you tried to flash? And yes, you can just flash CF-Root and start flashing from recovery. If it is possible to push the files true adb, I don't know. But you will have adb for sure in recovery.
And why are you flashing? It looks like you have really no idea what you are doing.
the problem is solved.i flashed a cwm 9 rom via odin and now im ok.now im flashing chechrom.i had checkrom and i undervolted too much.the phone closed but accidenatly i had ticked the set on bot button.my external sd is broken and i didnt have a checkrom backp into my internal sdcard.so i decided to flash an official firmware and then flash again checkrom.this is the story but now my problem is solved so you can lock the thread.thank you all

JTAG Repair, but recover data

Unfortunately I bricked my S2 by flashing a bad zip so I sent it off to cell-dr.com. Randy, at cell-dr told me that after the JTAG repair the device will be in Download mode and that he can flash a stock ROM. However, flashing a stock ROM would overwrite some of the data I would like to recover such as text history and photos.
I can ask him to unbrick the phone and leave it in Download mode. My idea is to
Use Odin to flash CWM. By doing this I should be able to mount USB storage and have an ADB, correct?
or
Use Odin to flash Siyah and a Modem, which should hopefully allow me to boot into the already installed CM10?
What do you guys think? Any other suggestions?

i don't think you can recover your data back.
You definitely have to lose something here.
Personally, if I were you, I'll be happy my phone is back.

Theoretically it should work if I use Odin to flash a kernel with CWM. Even if I can't boot into Android itself, ADB from CWM is sufficient to pull the texts db and photos. That's all I need. Then I can Odin everything and start fresh.
Any problems with this?

Galaxy s2 Stuck at Boot

i had the baseband version XXKPA and i needed to switch to a more stable ICS so i flashed XXLPQ without doing a factory reset, now my phone is stuck at the boot screen. it can enter into download mode, but not recovery mode. I need to fix this asap. Anybody help?
read through this thread and follow instructions. You may have a soft brick.

Becarefull if you **** up your bootloader you're bricked on another level. If you need any help using a pitfile PM me. Don't use pitfile's that comes from other roms. You're about to wipe every single item except EFS folder on your device with pitfile
The best way to use a pitfile IMO is using heimdall to make a pitfile of your device only. Connect to your PC in download mode. then you can make a pitfile of it.
Then flash in odin the cm9 resurruction edition http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419102 with the pitfile u made of your device. Repartition enabled. Then u can safely full wipe from CWM recovery.
This is the safest way I know of if anyone knows better than me feel free to correct
thanks guys, the thread you sent me really helped.
And yeah, i might need some help with the .pit file. what precautions do i exactly have to take before attempting to do the repartitioning along with the .pit file?

[Q] Help me please.. Galaxy s2 stuck on boot logo...

I am a newbie from Nepal. I dont have much knowledge of flashing. A week ago i tried to flash CMW recover while i was in resurrection remix JB rom. Till then i am not able to start my phone because it freezes at "Samsung Galaxy S2" logo... Now i dont know the CSC, PDA and kernel version of my mobile. So please help me solve my problem, how can i make it work?
Boot into recovery (Turn phone off. Then hold home/power/volume up) & do a wipe/factory reset. Or if you have a recent backup (or any backup) restore that from recovery. I've done this a couple of times over the past few mths when my phone has spontaneously bootlooped.
didnt help

In that case flash any stock rom you like. I gather you'll be going back to a custom rom pretty quickly in any case (?) so it doesn't matter. Whatever you do tho, do not flash a PIT.

All I can do is download a rom which is in zip format, but i know odin does not support .zip but it supports .tar, so how can i download rom in .tar, also does it matter if I flashed the rom which is not meant for my region?(I mean I dont know my phone's PDA and I am not able to decide which firmware to download since every firmware has its own specific PDA)... Yes, I'll be going back again to custom rom after I make it work...haha
AFAIK a rom for another country wont break your phone, but be careful with 4.0.4 roms because of the brickbug

go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3 and choose the stock or even another stock rom you wish, download it.
Boot into download mode and flash the single .tar file through odin, flashing instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
PD: if the downloaded file is .zip and not .tar, just extract the zip and u'll get the .tar

He means don't do a wipe/factory reset from recovery while you're running that kernel. Once you switch to a custom kernel you can relax tho.

Parameter is incorrect error can be caused by either of two reasons
1 . something is wrong with the file you downloaded try re downloading
2.Kies is interfering with Odin, terminate Kies from the background by using the task manager.

Hi tallman just got my SIII back from samsung service center, they said ther is an I C not working, but now justried to flash philz recover Odin failed to ans it says something non Pit file something like that.
If an IC isn't working then pay for the repair or buy a new phone, flashing won't fix a dead chip.
