[Q]Samsung Vibrant T959 problem with recovery mode - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
i have problem with entere my T959 to recovery mode
I read instruction how to enter this set to recovery mode(Volume +, - and power) but it not working to me
When i press - and power the phone enter to:
Android system recovery <2e>
but i dont have install from zip file
i have only:
reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cache data
and that all
When i press + and power i have Download mode
Any idea how to enter to recovery mode to install zip files from the sd card??
Thanks

Download CWR from my signature and put it on your internal SD as update.zip. Make sure it is the only thing on your internal labeled that. Boot into recovery and scroll down to reinstall packages. Hit it. It will cycle through and come back to stock recovery. Hit reinstall packages again and it will cycle through again only this time it will go from stock (blue) to CWR (green). There you will have the option to install from SD, wipes, ....

Thanks
Your solution it is working

[Q] Installing CM7 custom ROM in motorola defy over official 2.2 froyo

Sir I am new to Xda forums , I want to install custom CM7 ROM over my defy 2.2 froyo. As per FAQ guide mention in your portal: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065798 , i want to clear some of my points highlighted below:
7) How to install CM7 and keep downgrade-ability? (Froyo or Eclair)
If you don't flash the full SBF, your downgrade-ablility is fine.
Here's the safe steps to install CM7 to keep your downgrade-ability:
- Copy nandroid backup of 3.4.2-177 to your sdcard. Uncompress it in the folder clockworkmod/backup/ of your sdcard, create this if needed.
- Enable USB Debug
- Root via SuperOneClick
- Disable USB Debugging
- Install Custom Recovery
- Reboot
- Go to app System Recovery then install Recovery and Reboot Recovery
- In Custom Recovery, go to "backup and restore", then "Backup". This will take some time, your backup will be at /clockworkmod/backup. Copy it to a safe place.
- Still in recovery, go to "backup and restore", "restore", and select the nandroid backup of 3.4.2-177-005 (not your backup!) - Should I first complete install this nordic froyo then after got to again boot loader of go directly in same recovery mode.
If you have MD5 mismatch error, try to rename the folder of the nandroid to something simple without spaces, like "nand"
- Reboot your system and immediately press and hold Volume Up to enter Bootloader Mode (if you couldn't enter, remove the battery, wait 10s, put it again with Power and Volume Up pressed)
- Flash Fixed SBF of 3.4.2-177 via RSD Lite
Now go to question 2 and do all the process to install CM7.
If you want to go back to your original ROM
- Disable USB Debuging
- Copy your nandroid backup to your SD Card, put it in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup (must be a folder with simple name inside backup)
- Reboot phone in Bootmenu (Volume Down when the blue led lights at Motorola logo) then go to Custom Recovery - clockworkmod recovery to installed first or there is no need of this in CM7.
- Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache (in advanced) - what is this dalvik cache
- Choose "backup and restore", "restore", and select your eclair nandroid backup. - I am having froyo, If your backup doesn't show in this screen, is most likely you placed it in the wrong folder.
- Reboot your system and immediately press and hold Volume Up to enter Bootloader Mode. - here should I have to install and then reboot or directly from same recovery mode press and hold volume up key.
6. Flash the Fixed SBF of your original ROM. For a list of (fixed) SBF's you can check: - After installing my previous froyo backup, I have to install this fixed SBF using RST lite or in same recovery mode.
SBF - Service Flash - all files + fixed sbf + Bootloaders
[[sbf:defy]] And Developers
I also want to ask if I root my phone then istall 2ndinit then after I install CM7.
If I want to get my Indian official froyo ROM then how to get back ( please give details in simple words).
Because i think it is easy method then mentioned above .
Thanks.
Just flash indian froyo sbf with RSD Lite.

[Q] Stuck on White HTC Loading screen

Stuck on White HTC Loading screen. I was loading CM7 onto my phone for the first time, used Rom manager to load the rom it did the intial restart and went to the white screen. Any help would be awesome.
Pull the battery. Replace the battery. Hold volume down and power untill you see the bootloader screen. Using the volume keys to scroll highlight recovery and then tap the power button to select. Once in recovery (still using volume keys to scroll and tapping power to select) select wipe data/factory reset. Once it does its thing select wipe cache partition. After that is done go to advanced and select wipe dalvik cache. Now choose go back. Once in the main menu select install .zip from sdcard. Then select choose .zip from sdcard. Find the CM7 .zip and select it. ALWAYS flash from recovery NEVER from Rom Manager. It causes issues more.often than not.

Using ROM manager to load ROMs can be problematic. Install ROMs through Clockwork Recovery Mod. If you have Clockwork Recovery Mod installed then wipe your Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache(in advanced) and format system(in mounts and storage). Then choose install zip from SD card. Find your ROM and select yes. If you don't have clockwork recovery mod I'm attaching a version you can install from hboot. Place the file PG05IMG.zip on your SD card and turn off your phone. Hold the volume down button and turn on your phone. It will ask to install the PG05IMG.zip say yes. You will now have clockwork recovery mod installed. Delete the PG05IMG.zip after you have the clockwork recovery installed or next time you boot into hboot it will try to install it again. To access the recovery turn your phone off and then hold down the volume down button and turn on the phone. It will boot into hboot again and select recovery. Once recovery has loaded follow the above instructions to install your ROM.

I had almost the same problem last night. But dont worry.
- boot into recovery (power on while pressing volume down)
- **If you dont have your rom in the SD: then go to mounts and "storage > mount" and connect your TB to your computer and place the zip.
- wipe cache
- wipe dalvik (advanced > format dalvik)
- format system
- Flash your rom
Thanks! Giving it a go now. Had a strange loop that occured due to an old radio file i still had lingering on my sd got rid of it and it appears that cm should be done installing in a few!
Again Thanks x3

Where to start.. In CWM after save villain on SD, just flash update.zip?
Coming from Another ROM
Ensure CWM recovery is available, do a CWM/nandroid backup and titanium backup, and put the zip onto the root of the internal SD.
Enter CWM, carry out a factory reset, and cache wipe, and flash the ROM via "Install zip from SD" option.
Reboot the phone into VillainROM, bearing in mind the first boot may take some time on the boot animation.

1. download and copy the villian zip file to your sd card after making a back up of your data.
2. go into cwm- boot into recovery, clean cache. Stay in recovery mode.
3. go advanced and clean dalvik cache. Stay in recovery mode
4 select install zip file.
5. choose zip from sd card, scroll down to the zip file you have download.
6. select and agree to install.
7. let it install, scroll back up to reboot system.
8. rom will install it may take up to 5 minutes for the first install.
You can scrool up down in recovery mode by using the volume keys. power button or homke button selects depending on what version of cwm you have.
back button returns you back on screen.

Do not use Rom Manager remove it from your phone .
If you want recovery flash CWM and Root from here .
Root + CWM .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
from the app/
Troubleshooting:
Droid users: Stuck at the "M" logo? Flash an alternate recovery and flash back to ClockworkMod.
HTC Users: Flash recovery not working? Try fastbooting a recovery on.
Droid X/2/Pro Users: You must run the Bootstrap application first to use ROM Manager.
Samsung users: You must flash a Clockwork compatible kernel first (see XDA forums)

Here it is
This method has worked for me numerous of times after coming back from another ROM, or when I just miss using Slimbean....
IF your in stock, and want a clean memory on phone You may use this code to reformat the SDCard *2767*3855# (type on dialer) will delete everything)
phone memory=internal memory
put update.zip http://sourceforge.net/projects/stockodinjfd/files/update.zip/download
on your phone memory.
Download slimbean vibrant 4.2.2 ROM ONLY and put it on your phone memory ***no need to download gapps for 4.2.2 if your not going to use the rom***
put slimbean 4.3.1. official 2.2. on phone memory
put gapps 4.3 also in phone memory if your going to be using gapps...
alright,
1.
Unplug the USB (assuming you are still connected after using ODIN)...
Hold down volume up + volume down + Power for about 9 seconds.
If you prefer, you can power off your phone, then hold in all 3 buttons to boot into recovery, I don't see the point in waiting for the phone to power off.
This will get you to a recovery menu (blue/purple text) after some yellow text.
2.
In this (the stock recovery menu) select 'Reinstall Packages'
Use volume to navigate + power to select.
3.
It will cycle a bit, you will see that yellow text again, then it will return to the stock recovery. Select Reinstall packages again.
You are now in CWR (clockwork recovery).
4. install 4.2.2
during this installation your boot will random boot. If stuck on vibrant logo, remove battery and go to recovery mode. This means Semaphone kernel was installed. semaphore recovery should come up
5. factory wipe/ system clear/ etc, ***wipe how you would wipe everything to go get a clean flash***
6. install slimbean 4.3.1
*Optional, then install gapps 4.3 ***if you dont install gapps you wont have google playstore unless you use apk***
7. wipe cache & dalvik cache
reboot
load time 3-6 mins, let it breath....
Hit thanks if it worked for you
thanks all sloved problem
