[Q] Notification - HTC Amaze 4G

So is there a way to disable the dropdown notification when phone is in the lock screen. Settings, Mod? I know if I set up a screen lock I'll achieve what I want but I don't want that.

I accidentally found that out the other day and didn't like it at all.
I second this, is there a way to turn that off?

I don't think there's a tweaks option.

What's not to love about this feature? Sliding the ring up is the same motion as sliding the menu down. I see absolutely no way that this could cause anyone an issue.... Can someone give me example as to how this is bad?

When in my pocket.
Picture this, I listen to music all day receive a lot of text and emails. The notification bar sometimes slides down and starts either calling or getting into menus, recent apps, etc.. This happens whenever the phone is woken up in my pocket only Sometimes im doing some carrying and or weird body positiones and the phones power button will get pushed waking the phone and down goes the notification bar.
Makes sense? I'm sure I'm not the only one. Besides what's the point of it being a "lock screen" if it doesn't lock??

The screen is capacitive. That means it should not react to your pocket, if I understand capacitive correctly. It's not like a touch sensitive device. It needs an electric charge to activate the touch screen (the charge from your fingers). I've not had mine react in my pocket.

Correct! But Depends which way It's facing in my pocket. If its facing out wards then no problem but if it's facing in towards my legs then problem which is usually the way I like to put my phone away feels safer

I agree too. What's the point of it being a lockscreen if it doesn't lock. Lol.
I'm not dying to find a fix but I am interested in being able to turn that feature off.

Just lock the phone with a pattern or something.

Home Screen Rotation

Some where I read in the reviews that finally Sense 4.0 provides hone screen rotation, but today I check the phone in sprint store and it does not...Now I know that I can use 3rd party launchers but then I will lose sense advantages...What is with android and home screen rotation is it another of of the apple patent thing?

I will do it in Car mode even after you exit car mode if using the HTC Dock. It will also do it when using media link.
I am not sure why they won't allow us to do it at will though. I would like this to happen.

with sense or without sense?
Is there a way to achieve this without flashing a ROM? is there a build.prop setting that could be changed? it does work in car mode after all....
You need a modified rosie.apk. You need to be rooted to change it but don't need to be bootloader unlocked. There are threads about it on here.

With sense. There are a couple of ways to do it.... If you do not want to root, you can get app from the play store that will rotate the home screen..... I forget the name of the app though....
Or you can flash a custom rom... I m using charmeleon rom and there is an option for screen rotation.

If I were you, I would just wait for the sgs3 to come out.... So you can compare the two and make your choice then.
Also you can check out reviews of it and there will be reviews directly comparing both.....

The app is rotation locker from playstore. After installing click on it and longpress auto rotate. Bamm you have landscape rosie

As others have mentioned it does rotate home screen and app screens if you exit car mode with the phone still docked. I have not been able to rotate these screens outside of the dock, however.

I am still not getting the answer...Is it because os some patent infringement or something else?
I have tried a few android phones and none seem to provide it. Now I tried apex launcher, go launcher and others and they can provide it, so I am still not sure why we do not get it in stock launchers?
Rotation locker worked great on my phone but has one maybe unknown side effect. If you have it set to permanently stay on landscape or you have the auto rotation feature enabled and you enter the camera app you will be in for a nice treat.
The camera app focus disorients and everything looks funny and in a strange angle. You have to aet tthe phone to portrait mode so everything could go back to normal.
Other than that, the app works great!

Is there a way to get call controls in notification area on CM9?

I'm using CM9 and during a call, there are no options to mute, hang up, hold, or anything else in notification tray. This is the one thing I loved about the Samsung variant of Android. Do I simply need to install a dialer app from Google Play to get this functionality, or is there a feature in CM9 to enable this?
Can anyone help me get this functionality? Thanks in advance.
What would be the point all those buttons are on the in call screen in ICS?

If you are multitasking outside of the phone app while in speaker phone, isn't it pretty quick to pull down the notification tray and click the phone so the phone app opens (which has all the options), then just switch back to what you were doing? Doesn't even take 5 seconds to go from browser to phone, back to browser...
Although it would be a nice feature, it is not a necessary one.

Screen Wakes for Texts

Anyway to make my phone not wake up when I receive a text? I can't find it in the settings or anything. Im also on Jelly Beans.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
this was the same way on the s3, as well as the note, not sure about other samsung devices. but the answer is no. they made it like an iphone, it will wake up no matter what unless you custom rom it with CM or something pure google like.
Ah, really? Well that sucks lol. Oh well, it's not a guge deal or anything.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
There has to be a setting somewhere in the code that wakes the screen up for these texts. Has to be. It doesn't just do it because it does it.
Someone will find it, and make it bend to their will. Just give it time.

I decompiled it earlier to look at.
There is no bools.xml so its going to be in a method.
I'll know more once I locate it.
The method that ive been using is this:
Disable sms notification on the native app
Install sms popup
Uncheck the popup when recieved option on sms popup
Configure the rest of the settings
(500ms for light, 5000ms for off time)
???
Profit.

The solution I found that worked for me was to disable all the notifications in the stock messaging app and have light flow control the sound and led notification. I've had light flow on my other Samsung phones and it's proved to be a great investment. Now whenever I get a text i get my sound and my led lights up red and stays on. much better on battery.

A big reason I want it to not pop up, cause I feel that's why my light flow isn't working cause I have it set so screen on makes the notification go away. I don't always want to have to open the app, but want the light gone.

I too use this method of preventing screen flash on text. A little bit of screen time adds up when you are trying to milk your battery for all its got. Not much a huge deal on this phone though

transparent lockscreen.

Hello I was hoping someone would be able to make a transparent pattern lockscreen for me. I don't want to be able to see the dots at all I want it completely transparent
also I am using twisedumbrella's aosp rom
Sounds like a terrible idea to me. If you mess up that pattern lock enough times it will completely lock your phone down. At least that's what I thought.

You can download an app in the playstore that removes the the pattern feedback that you're drawing to unlock your phone.
Basically, all it shows is dots.

I prefer the dots so that I don't mess up the pattern. Lol. Mine is kinda complicated, even with the dots.
(Always remember to wipe your screen off so you leave no prints. I enjoy unlocking my friends phones for fun and watch them freak out on how I knew their patterns) Ha.

Disable BlinkFeed in Sense 5?

Is it possible? For me its just a wasted home screen and annoying that the phone likes to default to it as the default home screen. Anyone else feel like Sense 5 would be better without it?

The only way to "disable" blinkfeed currently is to not set anything up and to set another screen as your home screen. It will still be sitting there on the far left, but ignorance is bliss, so you just don't swipe too far left. LOL I'm sure it will come with time, but the developers are still concentrating on getting all the bugs out before they start working on the tweaks.
You can just set a different homescreen as the default one.

On your HTC One Home Screen just swipe to left.
Just tap and hold on any blank area of the screen.
A Panel will appear on the top. From the available panel, you can set one as your alternative to BlinkFeed. Just tap and drag the panel you wish to set it as home screen. Drag the panel to “Set as home”.

Same here. At first I was like "What is this garbage???"
But after using it for some time now, I really like it. It is a great content delivery vehicle, and honestly has made twitter something enjoyable now.
I hated and despised blinkfeed to begin with. Eventually I kinda grew to it. Only have my Twitter feed instead of FB and all that going to it. Quite useful now.
