[Q] Back-Button Light leakage - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I see on my S3 a bolt of light (2-3 cm), coming from the bottom center of the screen when the screen is black and i hit the back-button.
Is this enough to ask for a new unit? Does someone else experience this behavior?

[Q] Light on the Capacitive button

I have a problem with my Vibrant. The light on capacitive button isn't glowing that bright or has a dim lit compared to other vibrant's button. Any thoughts?
Please guys, did anyone here have the same issue? or know how to fix this.
I have the same problem. I couldn't fix it. I think it saves battery though, so I don't mind.

SERIOUS ISSUE with capacitive buttons...

All of a sudden the two right capacitive buttons are only lit to about 10% brightness, the left 2 buttons are fine.
What the he'll happened?? I didn't do anything! Anyone else had this issue?
Sounds like an LED light burned out and you are seeing the stray light from the remaining bulb?? Just a guess. I don't even know if there is more than one light in the thing...
i haven't had that issue but i have noticed that as of late, when i come back from idle, the right two capacative buttons will light up and then a split second later the left two will light. Its not that big of an issue for me to take it into sprint for, but it can be kind of annoying.
All of my capacitive button lights went out once. Pulling the battery got it working again. Try pulling the battery.

[Q] What is the top left sensor?

So maybe somebody can help me out. I know the top two sensors on top left of the amaze are proximity and light sensor. Which one is the one on the left of those two?
Last question, the top left sensor is flickering a dim red color. Is this normal? It even stays on when I turn off the screen. It's noticeable in the dark. It goes away if I restart the phone. Anyone also have this problem?

It's the light that emmits if the phone is near your face or far to turn off or on the screen.. you supposed to get that effect when your on call mode and when your not it should turn off automatically..
I think why it kepps blinking because the red light if it is near on your face the red light bounce back to the sensor telling that the phone is on your face thus why the screen turn off..
Well It's blinking when I'm not on a call. It's staying on till I notice it and trun off my phone or restart it.
I do notice if I'm on a call for more than 5 mins I have to hit my power button to get the screen to show up to end a call. Shouldn't the screen com back on once its away from my face? Maybe I have a bad sensor.....

its normal all the phones do that, its the proximity sensor, tells your phone when your face is near the phone so the screen goes off to save battery and also prevent accidental pushing of buttons. If you have in pocket mode checked (always checking to see if its in your pocket to increase the ringtone) in the settings it's probably always on which wastes battery, you could turn in off under settings--> sound.
I swear I saw a post just like this like a month ago.

If you're wondering what it is I'll save you the trouble.
Proximity sensor.

Pixel flicker when turning on screen ? Video Below. Return?

Wondering if any of you have a flickering of your screen when you press the power button or turn on the device. I notice in the top left of the device some pixels light up before an image is shown when turning on the screen. I'm still within the return window so I wouldn't want the device to have display issues down the line.

I have the S1 and have never see one part of the display light up before the rest, have you tested the screen,
Download a screen test app and go though the colors in a dark room, you can normally increase/decrease the brightness just by dragging your finger up and down the screen, check for any inconsistencies in the screen, a low brightness light gray shows up a lot of problems.

a short flickering of pixels on the black screen before the startscreen occurs.

I returned that unit to Costco and bought another. Didn't want to risk it going bad later.

Galaxy Note 4 is Working, but the screen is black

My phone was working fine when I went to bed last night. I laid it on my night stand and this morning I noticed I couldn't get the screen to light up. The blue LED was blinking like I had messages. The Menu and Back buttons light up when I press them, and I can even hear when someone is calling me, but because the screen will not light up, I can't answer. The phone screen is in near perfect condition, not a scratch or crack on it and I also have a cheap protective screen over it.
Hoping it was just a glitch, I removed the battery and held the power button for about 45 seconds and powered it back on. Same thing, black screen during the entire boot process, no logos or anything. I also tried to boot it in safe mode with same results. There is only one time that the screen shows any signs of life and it only happens when I first power it on. In the top left corner for a split second, where the usual "Bootloader is unlocked" message appears, it displays a small rectangle of colored artifacts inside that small message area.
I assume the LCD went out, but I'm concerned it could also be related to the GPU or other hardware, and so don't want to spend a lot of money buying a LCD if it's something else. I can still connect it to the PC, so I'm hoping someone knows how I can test the hardware from the PC, or at least recommend something. Right now the phone is ringing and I have no idea who it is...this sucks!
