Wrong, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867051

I dont think that this is what he is looking for, you can get CM7 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2209254
It still have some Bugs, but its nice to see 2.3.7 on Flipout!
0. Reflash your Flipout with RSD Lite (If you dont know what this is, do some research!)
1. Download Rom to SD Card (Download)
1.5 Root your Device
2. Download this sort-of Recovery and install on Device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14796425&postcount=412
3. Use this App to boot into cwm-recovery
4. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
5. Install Rom from .zip
6. Wait
7. Reboot Device
8. ...
9. CyanogenMod 7 on Motorola Flipout
For ICS Design, look at this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zb25ueS50aGVtZS5pY3MiXQ..
I recommend using ADB over WiFi, cuz USB on PC isn't currently working. (Use a SD Card Reader for File Transfers!)

[Q] How To Unroot?

I unrooted my friends Vibrant using the SuperOneClick and it still has the Quick Boot on it. How do I remove it and does this still mean his device is rooted? He has the official 2.2 update if that makes a differnce I tried using this tutorial to do it
http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Samsung-Vibrant/How-Do-i-Root-my-2-2-Vibrant/m-p/710539
but I couldnt get step 9 to work nor could I properly find his internal sd card. so we decided to just unroot it now

How much easier is using odin vs One Click Root/UnRoot (Mac and PC)?
With One Click, simply download, make sure your phone is in USB Debug mode, click Root, which puts you into recovery, install update zip, install RM/CWR,flash custom rom and reboot, done.
Just sayin.
ODIN:
download files and ODIN to pc
Load odin
Put phone in download mode (both volume buttons)
Run the files via odin
Bam, phone is stock
Root:
download file
Place in sdcard/
Phone into recovery (both volume and power)
Select to install update.zip
Reboot
Bam, rooted
Recovery:
Download rom manager in market
Flash cwr in rom manager
Reboot into recovery from rom manager app
Select reinstall packages
Select to backup
bam, custom recovery and a system backup
Install custom rom:
Download rom
place in sdcard/
Reboot into recovery
Select install from sdcard
Flash rom
Reboot phone
Bam, custom rom
I think I'm going to use the one click since I have a Mac and I'm more comfortable using it over my folks PC . The One Click will work even though he had the Kies 2.2 update. If so then I'm ready to root it. He was wondering how to overclock it and get wireless tether. I have a Droid X so its way Easy for me but I know his phone is tricky

can you boot to the xrecovery?
if not
go then to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 and try to fash one of the orginal rom
rooted then there you go
use this website as a reference for the downloading source
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209749
--------------------------------------------------------------------
if yes
go to the xrec
1 download clean fresh soft from how ever you want
2 move to the memory card
- partition tool
-amount usb
----------------- in case any problem
3 boot to the xrec by pressing back button
4 go to advance option
5 wipe dalvik cache, battery, fix perm
6 go back to main menu
7 factory reset
8 reboot try whether work
-----------------------
if yes great
if not lets continue
extreme option do not turn off phone in steps below other way use Sony ericsson update service or flash tool use the instruction include in the flash toll website.
9 go to partition tools
10 format system, data, cache extremely carefull
11 install custom rom
12 factory reset now you can reboot
13 reboot system
This only my suggestion
discharge
i am not responsible for any damage of phone which can be done by the step above.
edit: if you install many application some of them may have file on the sd so copy your file - your akp, music photo, music, video on your hard drive and format sd card and tried boot up again
because even if you delete data using xrec there will be still some of the rubbish on your sd that may cause the problem on you X10
GOOD LUCK

Whats ur baseband?
Are you on any custom kernels?
Bootloops happens mostly when u mess up these two things.
My suggestion is to start it from scratch (means installing 2.1 and then rooting and flashing 2.3).
Good luck.
Actually that's a problem with that specific rom, flash back a stock rom via flash tool and do another custom rom.
Ok so yeah i can access xrecovery whitout any problem im on z 2.3.3 freex10 baseband 71 using the kernel that comes whit the rom i can restore roms but not flash a rom and make it work damn back to 2.1 --

Which ROM are you trying to flash really? ROMs aren't exactly "flashable" as in via flash tool, flashing a custom rom is actually wiping and installing the files via xrecovery, which xrecovery does both but doesn't say so directing, it just says copying, formatting etc, since no custom rom is made in ftf flash file format but in zip format instead.

CWM recovery and ROM manager official support!

Yep I just said what the hell I'll try to flash cwm through ROM manager and what do you know it downloaded and installed recovery.. I'm guessing we can use the ROM manager in app now also! Feedback!

Did you flash the nightly too?
I haven't unlocked but I'm thinking about it. So, let me get this straight:
1. Unlock
2. Flash CWM via ROM Manager
3. Flash the nightly
4. Profit?

Considering your rooted yes it works.
Just flashed CWM with ROM Manager no problem.
Nightly? There are a few things that doesn't work I think like dock keyboard. You won't have Asus apps so backup them with Titanium.
You'll have to flash Google Apps also. Latest are gapps-ics-20120224-signed you find them here:
http://goo-inside.me/gapps/
BACK UP FIRST IN CWM!!
Probably necessary to wipe all partitions before flashing (Factory reset + in mount menu, format partitions).
Can you install this with Prime running Honeycomb 3.2.1 ? As I know the bootloader from Asus is only for ICS OS.

You need to be unlocked in order to use CMW. We had someone who wasnt unlocked and tried and bricked his prime. So upgrade to ICS. Then unlock. Then install rom manager. Then flash CMW from in there. Then flash new rom.
Technically you can install rom manager now but its useless without root n being unlocked.

Root from sd?

hi there
my USB port is broken
i want to root my phone via sd card, it is possible ?
iam on orange UK 2.3.3 BVKG3
i just need to root it
cheers
If you first update to ICS somehow (OTA?), yes.
Although i seen something similar to that (flash a .zip file using stock recovery to gain root) i haven't seen someone around s2 forum make a .zip like that. I have seen low end devices gain root by flashing .zip files through stock recovery like Galaxy Ace, Optimus Me and Galaxy Y.

Yes it can be done. I've done it myself on SGSII and it works fine. See this thread for details:

Doesn't Mobile Odin require root in the first place to run? His phone is currently unrooted, unless that status has changed.

I do have a theory... but it will involve you upgrading to ICS while you're at it. You'll also have to wipe your device, which will remove all your apps/contacts/etc, but should leave all your pictures/movies/music/etc. I am not sure if it will work or not, as I haven't actually tried it myself.
You'll need an external SD card for this.
- Download CWM Recovery for the Galaxy S2 from the ClockworkMod website and put in on your external SD card.
- Download one of wanam's stock ICS ROMs that are CWM flashable from his thread and put it on your external SD card.
- reboot to recovery
- do a full wipe (data/factory reset)
- choose "apply update from external storage"
- find and select the recovery image downloaded in the first step, and wait for CWM recovery to appear
- choose "install from sdcard"
- find and select the ROM you downloaded in the second step
Once this last step is done, I believe you'll need to reboot. The advantage of this is though all the ROMs in wanam's thread are all stock, they are ALSO rooted. So you'll both upgrade to ICS and root your device simultaneously.
Again, this is a theory, but I don't see why this wouldn't work. (of course, someone please point out anything I didn't think of that would prevent this from working the way I envisioned it)
not working for me nothing, as CWM zip file cannot be instaled from stock recovery
there is signature problem
i already downloaded touch version too without luck

[Q] help with flashing cyanogenmod

hi folks!
i need help flashing cyanogenmod 9.1.0 that i found here
i've looked for instructions here but they still sound hard to follow. another confusing part is the kernel..one guide says flash kernel first the other said do that last, heck were like fishing here mate..if someone can give me a more detailed step on how to do it that would really be great., as you can see im virtualy a noob.. only got as far as rooting my phone, even that i'm not sure if i did it right but it works anyway lol
thanks!
Device: LT26i
Android version: 2.3.7
Build: 6.0.A.3.7.6
What i've always done:
(0). If you want, you should make a backup of your apps.
1. Download the CyanogenMod file and if you want the latest gapps (Google apps) for ICS (when using CM9). These can be found here.
2. Make sure the (both) zip file(s) are on your phone.
3. Extract the boot.img file from the zip you've downloaded.
4. Flash this file using fastboot: fastboot flash boot boot.img
5. Reboot you device, and go into recovery by pressing the volume-up button when the LED goes on.
6. In recovery, do a factory reset and wipe data, cache and dalvik cache. Also format system.
7. Now, still in recovery, go into "install zip from sdcard" and install the CyanogenMod zip.
8. If you want them, now install the gapps.
9. Reboot and enjoy
@TiesB
now thats somethng different again, or maybe you've just missed out the kernel part.,you also didnt mention downloading a recovery, is that because your method requires connection to a computer..not really sure what recoveries are for ie cw, doom, etc..
another one i want to verify, does installing this rom actually make my android version ICS or it just makes it look like one.,
Thats because when you fastboot it will get you in a recovery of cm9.1 then when you have fully installed the cyanmod you will have the recovery installed or you can go to xperia s dev in the menu and go to advance stock kernel 15 and set the zip and elf file in the sd card flash the ics 15 elf with fastboot and in the recovery install the ics 15zip file and you have a recovery
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
Yeah, what he says.
In the cm 9.1.0 zip there is a file called "boot.img". This is the file you'll want to flash using fastboot.
And yes, it actually makes your phone running ICS
Sent from my Xperia S using xda app-developers app
ok, now how about flashing a custom kernel..
found that step on doomlord's post and another one, but they are in a different order..note that what ive done so far is to root my phone by flashing pre rooted img.,
