Hey all. There is a super slim crack across the center of my screen (probably from dropping it). Some time after this happened, parts of the screen became unresponsive (i.e. the middle portion of the keyboard wont respond). Will restoring the phone or updating the rom do anything to fix this? it is challenging because 9 out of 10 times i cant even slide the lock to unlock the lock screen. Thoughts? Thanks much.
EDIT: It may still be under warranty, but I'm assuming the crack on the screen has voided it?

So i just changed my screen (LCD + digitizer) and for some reason it's really off.. When texting or typing anything it wont respond to some letter.. When i unlock it's not smooth and sometimes take me several tries to unlock.. It's almost feels like there's a whole row on the screen that isn't responsive.. I can't delete any letters either as the backspace doesn't seem to register. What could be wrong? Any solutions, please and thank you!
Also i used a little electrical tape to cover some light that was bleeding through, you think this can cause issues? Other than that i cannot think of anything that will cause this to happen. I need to fixed asap and really don't want to take it apart again and put back the old screen.
To be more specific when i try to unlock and slide it to unlock it will only go halfway and it'll bounce back and won't allow me to unlock, i do this a few times until it unlocks.. It's really annoying.

My SGS2's screen suddenly had this problem, where the screen will flash randomly even though i locked it. To make matters worse, my home button not working now. I suspect it could be water got into the phone, when i tried to apply the screen protector the night before? What you guys reckon i should do? It's unfortunately out of warranty now.
Have you rooted flashed custom rom if so re-do it with full wipe
see if problem remains.because your out of warranty look for disassemble video
tutorial check all contacts and ribbons/possible water damage might need new screen this can be expensive if you don't do it yourself
i'm using non-rooted official rom XXPLX ICS, so i don't believe the problem is with the rom since it was ok for the past month. Must be been water that got into it...guess i'll just have to soak it in rice bag for a week like some advised and see how it goes...finger crossed...
ok just to update..now my screen seems to be ok now (no more flashing)..but seems like my home button is dead. Any way i can get around it? I find it hard to justify paying $200+ to fix a home button XD
I saw on the net there's some self repair tool for home screen but it just look too complicated...
having a problem with my touch screen. i've factory reset, wiped, and have even flashed a few different roms, i'm convinced the problem is with my phone and i'm hoping it's not broken. i turned on the touch indicator option and can see that sometimes when i wake my phone there is already input on the very center of my screen, almost where the Sense unlock ring would be. if i'm touching the edge of my screen and wake it happens a lot more often, and i was just playing with it and i'm able to make this occur by touching where the screen meets the bezel. anyone have any suggestions? it's really annoying, it'll open apps, unlock my phone, hang up calls, ect. thanks for any time in reading this and any suggestions you may have!

I had the same issue with my Samsung Gal ( the org) and ended up having to get it replaced at Verizon. But again i also had the issue on my DINC and that was just some dirt after taking it apart and cleaning everything was good to go...other then that it very well could be the screen
So, this thing drives me crazy...I've tried everything I knew and still nothing solved this problem.
I'm using HTC One. About 10 days ago weird things with touch started to happen. It seems that touch is partly unavailable/unresponsible on touch in one or two small areas. It seems to me like theres an empty place on my touch. Visualy is everything fine. Screen is crystal clear and has no damages or scratches. But I can't slide icons without troubles. Somwhere on 1/4 of screen, touch brakes briefly and I need another try to slide the icon. The same thing happens with status bar on the top of screen - I can slide it until that 1/4 part and it stops there and goes back. If I slide it quick with short move, it works fine, just slide alone over problematic area.
Also, few times I had that problem where screen works things on itself will. Makes pictures, or adds filters on Instagram, or, I don't know, just jumps around for few secons. Then, I lock the screen, then unlock it and usually that calm down the screen.
Also weird thing is that, when I want to send message, I can't reach "send" button in first try. I have to drop down writing sheet, than to touch the letters to put it in writing mode again, and then I can click the "send" button. On the same place where it was previously!
At first, I thought that plastic case or PVC protection is the problem, so I took off the protector from the screen. That solved problem for a bit. Then, I put back screen guard, and problem came back. After I totally rejected screen guard, problem is still here. I've tried to reset phone on factory, but that wasn't helpfull...
I forgot to state that I'm using Android 4.2.2 and this started to happen after that version update. I had no problem before.
So, now I'm here, as I don't know what else to do before I take this beauty to service. I just hope that this happens because of software bugs :crying:
Is there anyone who could help me? Have similar problem or know how to fix this?
In the meantime, I'll just hope that 4.3 will fix it themself... :fingers-crossed:

I've got some issue with my desire x touch screen. It is becoming unresponsive.
The whole thing started like 1 month ago. I've noticed that as my phone gets hotter (playing games, using internet) my touchscreen was slowly becoming unresponsive. Firstly I was unable to scroll down my notifications (only the narrow bar at the top was not working) and then it came to a random places of screen, so I couldn't even write sms message. The thing is that it is not unresponsive at all. When I press certain unresponsive area it finally detects the touch. I tried everything, from wiping my screen with a soft tissue through removing battery and sim and sd card to wiping dalvik and cache. I've noticed, that after night the problem was almost gone. And again, after using phone for some time issue occured again. I figured that flashing a new kernel might be a good solution. And it helped and I was happy.
Unfortunatelly, yesterday problem returned. But as you probably suppose - flashing kernel ain't helping. I've also tried other methods mentioned above, but the only thing what helps a bit is leaving the phone unused for like 1 hour or so.
Do u guys have any ideas, what can I do to repair it or to fix it? Any help will be strongly appreciated

I have a similar problem after replacing touch screen. I have found the source of the issue, it could be similar to yours.
My touch screen at the bottom was glued to the LCD in a short line and the adhesive was probably touching part of the LCD cable that goes underneath. I used a hair drier to warm it up and lift off the touch screen. That way there is no bad interaction between the touch screen and the LCD. Haven't had this problem since but my touch screen is unfortunately a bit lose this way. Even now, whenever I push the navigation part of the touch screen too hard, the problem comes back. I will need something to isolate the bottom part of the touch screen from touching the LCD. I will keep you updated if I find a final solution. In the meantime, it could be worth trying it on your phone too.
I think I will just get S-OFF, revert my phone to stock and give it back for warranty repair Anyone of you guys did this? Did 7 vibrations at boot void your warranty?
I'm thinking about warranty repair, cause my bro has the same phone, but full stock, not even rooted. And he got simmilar problem to me, but with less intensivity (it just comes and goes once in a while). Also recently I got this phantom touch problem (after enabling show touch in options I saw my phone is detecting some touches in specific areas) So I think warranty will be the only option :/
