Meh never mind, went to a cafe with free WiFi and job's a good 'un!
Im unable to install the this update from recovery. Please let me know how to install this.
I tried install update from SD but the phone reboots.
My Phone is unlocked
That's prolly just the ota... Not ready to flash via recovery. Must be taken apart and assembled with slight modifications first. Unless its an update .zip either case I would wait for the go ahead.

Rename to PG86IMG.zip and boot into bootloader and press vol up but I suggest u remove the hboot and recovery signed imgs from the zip first

Sorry for the Wrong Info. Actually my phone is locked with S -on. I'm very eager to update to ICS 4.0. I even tried renaming this file to update.zip and just "update". When I select "install update from SDcard" the phone just reboots.

Finally got the ICS update today here in Dubai. lot of excitement during installation.
Guys if you haven't received the update yet please be patient you will receive it.
ICS looks good especially the Home Screen. No wallpaper Scrollable function present but overall it looks good and nothing great about it. Have to wait and see the performance.
The interface is okay nothing much new.
HTC will soon announce the Phones which can be upgraded to Jelly bean 4.1. it seems they wont delay like they did for ICS. I'm sure EVO 3D will be compatible with Jellybean 4.1. :laugh:

I am also in dubai still didnt recieve my ics update...could you please tell me what Hboot are you running for me my phone is locked and S-ON and my hboot version is 1.49.0018 and which carrier are you using in dubai etisalat or du if possible can you please tell me how can i update my Hboot...Thanks.

It is Elitasat. My Hboot is 1.49.0011. I don't think it has got anything to do with Hboot and if your phone is locked with S-ON surely you will be able to install it. I'm sure you will receive the update if you had purchased it in UAE.

So I downloaded the PH86IMG.zip file from the thread on how you install the current version of clockwork mod back at the developers thread of the amaze 4G forum and when ever i go into Bootloader mode it would "update" but at the end it will say
Main Version is older
Update Fail!
did i do anything wrong? i followed the instructions and everything is there a newer PH86IMG.zip file that will work. BTW i got that OTA update from Tmobile. im not sure how many OTA updates there were im assuming there was only 1.

I don't know exactly the details and versions for our phone, but on the MT4G we had issues if your radio was newer than the ROM or PH15IMG.zip file you were trying to use in bootloader.
For example, if you had a GB radio and tried to flash a Froyo rom through bootloader it wouldn't work. You get the same error that you're getting. I think it was determined you can only do this if your true s-off.
I would check your radio and the stock rom versions available, make sure the rom you want is newer than your radio. So you might have to change your radio to a previous version. This is all based on my experience with the MT4G, so it could be wrong here but it sounds similar. Good luck!

hey thanks alot for hte link im going to try it right now. i read the thread and i agree with you the OP of that thread needs to update that PH86IMG.zip file he has on his instructions its causing alot of confusion for me

it worked i just flashed quicksense. so much better without the bloatware

I'm not worried about credit. If you made it easier for someone to get the job done then good for you. They would have stumbled onto the post eventually. I was just making it even easier so they wouldn't have to dig through a dozen or so pages of information.
So I got bored of waiting for Wind's OTA ICS update and them telling everyone "you get it when we get it" and i sent a ticket into HTC.. got this as the responce today.
I know how important it is to have the latest software available on your Amaze. I’ll be glad to help you. ICS updates for the Amaze are expected to release between June and July this year. Our goal is to give every customer the best possible experience on every phone. Every HTC phone is a combination of a unique HTC hardware and software experience and a core operating system, and thus, it can take some time for updates to be crafted and made available, as we want to make sure it will run as best as possible when released.

ya im waiting on a friends phone to get it will report when he sees it and what version it is.
When you download the OTA, kindly pull the file from /sdcard/download (internal sd) and upload it for us please.
its sense 3.6, HTC wont make it diffrent for another company

Looks like it cleaned itself out of /Download/ - so I'm guessing anyone who hasn't done it yet, to get it BEFORE they start installing it. Otherwise it'll be gone.
For some reason when I try to check for updates - it just gets stuck and only shows the message checking.... but nothing happens.
Is this because I am rooted and/or have my bootloader unlocked? Or is it because I have CWM as my recovery?
I really hope someone can provide the OTA files so I can try and update through recovery.
Please someone save the file before updating and share!

You need to relock the bootloader and flash stock recovery before you can proceed.
Coworker re downloaded it from his download link in his task bar that was still there after his update..

Do I still have to go to stock recovery and relock bootloader to use the zip file?
If not - do I just copy the zip file to the sd card and rename it to update.zip and install it from CWM recovery?
A walkthrough would be greatly appreciated! I don't want to brick my phone!
Lastly - if I want to keep all of my apps/settings - should I do a backup and then apply the update - then reload the backup?

Someone with a stock Springboard has to catch the OTA update URL in order to let us analyze what's in the zip. Depending on which files are full images and which are patch files, that will determine what needs to be done in order to flash a Springboard from the MediaPad ICS firmware.
If it's like other OTA zips for this unit, it will contain a full set of radio files but some of the system files might be present as patches. If someone can post the URL to that zip I will try flashing just the radio part to see if that stabilizes the radio on my tab.
If we're lucky, the ICS upgrade will be such a radical overhaul that it will include full images of everything we need in the zip.

Stay on alert for upcoming announcements as to whether the update has been rescheduled. If you receive an update notification, post in this thread with the details and don't accept the upgrade until you've found the URL (with our help if necessary).

Hey guys, I recently won a T-Mobile SpringBoard, and I quiet like it. When I got the device I went to System - About Tablet - System Updates (Google), and it said there was an update. So I made it download the update and install it. But it was just a newer version of Honeycomb. For a little over a week now I've been trying to get the Ice Cream Sandwich update but the thing just says the tablet is up to date.
Is T-mobile doing a slow roll out of the update or something? I'm not a T-mobile customer, but I don't think that matters since it did do one over the air update already.
Any clue what's the deal?

Are you sure it's for an upgrade to ICS?
Download alogcat and filter for the text: http://
It should show up somewhere in the log once you have received the update notification. Please post a screenshot of the notification too.
Just for comparison this is the URL of the update from "older Honeycomb" to "newer Honeycomb":

- on your external Storage create a folder 'dload' put the downloaded file in this folder and rename the file to 'update.zip'
- power off (completely!) your device, press 'Vol+', hold it, and press power
- hold 'Vol+' until the green Android appears. It should start updating

New to the springboard and glad to have come across a site that has some information on it. I have been waiting for the update for a couple days now, I also downloaded the update zip that was posted a few posts up. When you say "external" storage, are you referring to an SD card? And I am assuming this can be done on a factory springboard? I would rather do this than wait for the OTA to hit my device. Thanks for your help, this is an awesome forum.

From what I've been told and understand, never ever take an update from the carrier. All the good stuff will be extracted and the bad left out with the next update of whatever ROM you are running... usually if not, find another ROM

You will lose root. Never take a firmware update (from what I've read) Only update profile and prl.

Are you able to go s-off? Sounds like you might be since you haven't taken any OTAs of course depending on when your got your phone too. If so then you should do it.
There are ways to upgrade your firmware without taking it via OTAs.
There are several threads in development that address your concerns.

Firmware upgrade a must ?
Hi, I would love to try the MeanBean2.4 ROM, I understand that a firmware upgrade would be a must ? I'm on Viper4G2.0.2 ROM and if I do a firmware update I'm sure my Viper4g rom will not load or run correctly. Is there a way to reverse a firmware update ? Can I do it via my installed TWRP 2.3.3 ? Currently I have S-Off Lazy Panda, Hboot 1.12.111, Radio 1.02.12.0427.
I like the Viper4G ROM, but getting old, has minor issues, got Gogole now working on my Viper rom but can't update via Play Store..no big issues, but I would still like to have the option to go back to this ROM. Thank you for that info, I did find one firm just a bit newer PJ75IMG_3.15.651.6-no-boot-recovery.zip and I do know how to install. I do not expect an answer on my question if I can still run Viper4G2.0.2 after this upgrade (will ask Team Venom), however, would you know if I can revert back to the old Firmware ? Via TWRP or other method ? I hear renamig the old PJ75IMG.old that I left on the phone to PJ75IMG.zip and installing it to try to get old firmware is a bad idea and possible brick road ! lol

Via TWRP or other method ? I hear renamig the old PJ75IMG.old that I left on the phone to PJ75IMG.zip and installing it to try to get old firmware is a bad idea and possible brick road ! lol

Reverting your firmware will indeed brick you AFAIK and you should be able to run Viper4G with the new firmware when I updated my firmware I was running an ICS rom I didn't notice any problems.

Well I think I'm going to try now, I still hope that by saving my original firmware file on my SD and then run TWRP Restore will get me back...or not ! lol Worse case I'll say goodbye to the Viper Rom... God help me, I love my EVO..ha haa

Your first screenie shows you are still on the older radio. You didn't do the update?
Old Radio
It used to be like this before the update. I used the link you gave me and did the PJ75IMG.zip update.

It appears you flashed the older PJ75IMG.zip your baseband should be 1119 as the last 4 numbers

Wrong image
founf a link to Jewel_Radio_1.12.11.1119.zip file. Tried to flash, said wrong image. Am pretty sure was for Evo LTE. Do you have a link by anychance ?

Thanks so much for your quick responses. Your link in my PM worked great ! Very nice of you to take time for us noobs. I've been at it since my original EVO 4G. Trying to learn each day, this stuff just moves pretty fast and hard to weed out the good and the bad posts. Really cool to get a nice direct and good advice.

I have trying to go back to stock JB rom since a month now....all the ruu's i can find doesnt match my region and i havent found any nandroid backup as well ... pls help . the 4.2.2 update will be out in a couple of days now and i cant get the OTA
could any body help me in getting the ruu or the nandroid backup.

rom - android revolution 7
recovery - CWM

region - asia india
baseband - 3.1204.168A.32

There is a nandroid backup available someone in the forum.
But you need to search for it.
Also, without the stock recovery - you can not get OTA.
If you have searched the forum a bit - you might have already discovered there is no RUU available for hboot 1.40.
There is a ruu for 1.17.401.3.

So I read that there's a RUU for 1.17.401.3?
It would be a gift from heaven if i could get it too because after one and a half month it drives me crazy searching for a solution without any success...

I thought you understood. The file is not even at me. But, if someone wants help, he can get it. There are other solutions without having to share it.
If not, at least people know that the file exist.

I was in the same situation but the only difference is that this guy that has the file is living 30km from me. For some people is not an option because they live too far away.
Me myself I understand why his not giving the file: he has a job! and a family to take care of. If sharing something would put his job in danger, than in his situation I would do the same and you also too!
My bad because I wrote in here from the first place.

And for those that they really needing it, why you don't find a stock system backup and restore it in your phone. I've done the same with 4.2.2.

I also find my job importend, and if it can cost myjob i don,t ldo it either.
Its nice that he offers this , and if you don,t like it don,t resonse.
