screen lock on nook tablet with cm7 - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Hello everybody!
Im having a little issue with my NT. I cant activate the screen lock pattern, in fact, my tablet cannot be locked in any way.
I installed ADW launcher, and tried any menu that I have found to activate lock, but no success.
Does anybody have any clue what else can I try?
btw, NT rocks!

With cm7 you can go to settings, then cyogenmod settings. There you will see the lockscreen options. You have a few different choices. I personally use Go Locker and paid for the ICS theme, which when using gives you 3 choices of how to unlock. I like the ics style unlocker. Hope this helps.

thanks for your advice but it didnt work. I will keep trying. But its kinda weird. the first time I tried cm7 from a sd card the screen lock worked fine.

I haven't used cm7 in a while, but try checking under Security settings too. I think there are lock screen settings there.

I got a Samsung Galaxy S, and activating the lock pattern in the same way that I have set in my NT works without issue. I think I will need to reflash my nook, and reinstall all the apps

Have you unchecked "Settings"->"CyanogenMod settings"->"Tablet tweaks"->"Disable lockscreen"?

Yes, I have tested that too, but nothing.... Next week I will reflash the NT this thing isnt a "national security" issue, but to be safe, i dont let my tablet alone LOL

I take the long way, and reflashed all, wiping all the old stuff from the NT. And voila! screen lock is back. I suspect that the last reflash i did, didnt wipe all the memory down, and there were some leftovers of the cm9 test I did.
By the way, I installed this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512373 and It looks amazing, including an ICS theme, and some nice apps preinstalled.

[Q] Touch Screen Keeps Freezing

My Thunderbolt is rooted, and I have tried several different ROMs (some AOSP even) and different kernels, and still I get this strange problem... I use WidgetLocker and fairly often when I go to unlock my phone, the touch screen doesn't work. I have to turn the screen on and off several times and sometimes that works, but it may take up to several minutes for it to finally register my touch. I even sometimes have to pull the battery because after ten minutes, nothing is responding. At first, I thought it the ROM/kernel - I used BAMF in the beginning and that is when I noticed it. Then I switched to ShiftSense, and I barely noticed the touch screen ever failing on me, but the lack of GPS locking and accuracy made me switch to NonSense, which I enjoy but again the touch screen not working at the WidgetLocker lock screen comes up again. My other theory was maybe the HTC Ring Lock Screen gets in the way, so I downloaded NoLock and disabled it, but that didn't work. Then I tried use the WL HomeHelper, but that didn't work... I tried different settings, but no avail. I really enjoy WidgetLocker and I want to try to keep it, but I am not sure what other things I should try to fix this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!
widget locker did that to me several times so I gave up on it. Its definitely a problem with widget locker and not your phone or ROM. It freezes. I even set it to unlock with long press of back button and that would freeze as well.
my phone does the same thing, i think its a problem with our phone and gingerbread. it happens less with froyo. I believe its a radio issue.

I have used widget locker on over 10 different android devices I've own. I've never had a freeze issue with it. Reason I've had freeze issue starting with low RAM device. Then voltage to low or cpu frequency to low.
Is there a good alternative with Widget Locker? I just love the use of my own custom slider/widgets/custom background... Does any other app do that? I sort of want to try another app and test to see if it is in fact my phone/RAM/ROM/whatever or Widget Locker.

take off or freeze widget locker for a few days and see how your phone does. If it doesn't freeze, then you know its the app.
As for the guy that has used widget locker on 10 devices without problems, I call BS, I tried it on stock, and several customs and always had problems.
I sort of like the features of WidgetLocker than my default lock screen doesn't have and the look of it, so if I turn it off, I sort of want to try to find a replacement app in the meantime.
I just wanted to chime in and say I have this issue with my Thunderbolt and Widgetlocker as well. I've found that it usually freezes if I let my screen turn off by timing out. I'll turn it back on and the screen doesn't respond at all. I've found that if I let my screen timeout again while on the Widgetlocker screen, my touch screen will be responsive the next time I turn it on again.

Same problem here, I stopped using widget locker and just use the sense 3 lockscreen now.
I just wanted to put in my two cents - I was have the same problems with WidgetLocker on BAMF Forever (1.0.7 & 1.0.9). I found another thread on here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151269) that someone with a BAMF Sense 3 ROM and a custom kernel was having the same issue. Someone else suggested upping the voltage on the kernel to 368 or changing the kernel. It didn't work for him, but it did for me. I'm not using a custom kernel, but there is an option to change that in BAMF Settings. I've been running it at 368 for several days now and I only had one lockup (but that was shortly after bootup and the phone was probably busy doing other things in the background). HTH

The lock screen...

So I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of my lock screen...I selected the option to have no screen lock in the settings multiple times though it still prompts the lock screen...I use goexplorer...is that making it still lock(The lock screen is the stock version, not golock or anything)?
Yesterday I switched between sense and golauncher and for both selected no lock screen in the settings, though that still didnt work...lock screen still present.
any idears? Also, is there a way to get pandora planted on the lockscreen...I remember when I was testing the beats with the stock music player, you could change the song and so on from the lock screen...that was nice.
Try WidgetLocker.....it's not free, but it's great.
Oh thanks for the recommendation though I'm trying to get avoid any lock screen, so I can check my phone without encountering the lock screen

I don't think it can be done.....good luck though.
Pretty sure you can, maybe you can see if it works on your phone?
Settings>Security>Set up screen lock> Select "None"
I cant remember if it worked when I first got the phone(when I didnt have goexplorer)..the nexus has the same feature and it was great not having to unlock it all the time...I just dont wanna hafta uninstall the goexplorer and loose all my settings :/
Nearly impossible unless you are rooted.

all that does is remove any security from the lockscreen (pin, pattern, etc), not the lockscreen itself.
Hmm I'm waiting to root after the ICS update...did it not work on your phone(going to the settings and changing the security preference)?

That takes away the pin or pattern screen, not the lock screen with the ring.

I use ADW, and when I have my NoLock app widget set to Unlock, I get no lock screen. When I turn the screen on, it goes straight to the last screen I was on.

does No Lock not work on the rezound? (Though I would assume it uses the same logic as the GO widget...)

Changing the lock screen wallpaper

So, I can't seem to be able to use a picture from the gallery as the lock screen wallpaper anymore. I used to be able to do this but it suddenly stopped working today. Any thoughts on what the problem could be?
Using a picture from the wallpaper gallery app still works though. But I can't add the picture I want to that gallery.
What happens exactly? It just doesn't show the gallery option?

So I've tried going through both the settings screen and the gallery. Everything will seem fine, it will even bring up the wallpaper changed notification, but when I go to the lock screen, the old wallpaper is still there. I'm at a loss so any help is appreciated.
Edit: I'm on a P769BK, if that helps.

I have the same model. This happened to me after rooting a few times. You may need to re-run the root and reboot a few times. If that does not work try a factory reset.
Honestly I would do a factory reset

Imma try both methods when I get home. Thanks for the suggestions.
Well it turns out I didn't need to do either of those things. I just used titanium backup to wipe the lock screen settings app's data and it worked like charm. Thanks anyway for your help.

Thanks for the tip, I've struggling with this issue for days I didn't want to do a factory reset it's just to much for a simple wallpaper change.
I did a wipe form titanium... and Voila it worked flawlessly.

[Q] Screen Security keeps defaulting back to Slide

The thread title pretty much says it. I'm running CM10.1 nightlies on a Galaxy S2, and it has happened in several different versions. I used MagicLocker for a bit, using its screen security, but recently switched back to WidgetLocker. I thought this may be caused by MagicLocker somehow, so I uninstalled it. Screen Security is still defaulting back to slide. I really don't know of another app that would be doing this.
Hopefully one of you know what's going on.
Thanks.
Have you tried a hard reset or asking in the GS2 section if anyone else is having similar issues with the ROM you are running?

If by hard reset you mean restart the phone, yes. Have I wiped and started fresh? No. I'd like to see if there's something I can just toggle or if I'm overlooking something stupid first.
My next stop was the GS2 forum if it didn't get solved here.
edit:
Something more specific to add is that it only defaults to slide after my first unlock with protection on. I can even restart the phone right after setting up the lockscreen protection, but, as soon as I unlock the phone, we're right back to it being set to slide. It's really odd.
Well I figured out what it was.
PhoneLocator Pro was set to "Lock automatically OFF" in the "Screen timeout & Lock" and lock settings menu. I guess I didn't set that properly after changing roms.
Derp. :silly:

[Q] Wallpaper stuck on landscape after unplugging from Lapdock

...yes I STILL use the Lapdock
Anyway, after I remove my phone from the Lapdock it freezes and goes crazy for a few seconds as usual, but this time as well as others it seems to have left the wallpaper in a landscape orientation, even when I turn my phone upright for protrait orientation.
Have a look:
http://i.imgur.com/nbCcBtA.png
http://i.imgur.com/RjZsXsk.png
What is especially wierd is what you see on the second .png when I try to change the wallpaper to see if that does anything, the selector square has turned into a rectangle as if the phone was still on landscape. The icons, widgets and all else do rotate, just not the wallpaper. I am left with no other options as the settings for wallpaper on stock 2.3.6 leaves me only the option to change the backgroind image and it seems that I am the only one on the interwebs that is posting this issue.
The ROM and kernel is stock, I am using ADW Launcher but I am certain that that is not the culprit, I removed it but the problem persisted. I am also using Ubuntop 1.1 something or other but I doubt that is a culprit either.
Any ideas? Thanks so much in advance.

What happens after a battery pull?
Are you able to access recovery with the stock rom? just thinking about a dalvik wipe or a data wipe/factory reset? (maybe some bits of software not acting properly and a reset might help)
I don't have any experience with the Lapdock but maybe it is a software glitch?

The problem persists after a battery pull and re-insertion. Since it wasn't the VERY first thing I did, recovering the img of the current rom didn't work as the problem occurred BEFORE I saved a backup, although the problem DOES go away when do a from-scratch recovery using a fruitcake system/kernel/webtop img.
So would wiping the Dalvik cache not mess up my setup or anything? I may consider doing that as I'm not looking forward to doing a clean wipe every time this problem happens, and it happens VERY easily.
Thanks
Wiping Dalvik won't change any settings or cause any problems and it might help.
I am still thinking that your problem is a software glitch - one workaround might be to fix the wallpaper in the 'horizontal' position by unticking the 'auto-rotate' setting (not sure if this would effect your lapdock experience though )
One last workaround would be to reinstall your Rom without a data wipe (so all your settings/apps are still there) and see if that helps.

Dalvik cache is wiped and the wallpaper orientation option was ticked and un ticked but the problem STILL remains. I suppose my next step is to re-flash the ROM, but I'm hoping that doing so won't wipe and restore webtop to stock (it's on Ubuntop instead).
Here's another kicker! I don't have this problem on LIVE wallpapers, orientation works just fine there, only on static wallpapers am I seeing this issue.
Anyway, I've looked into debugging the display on the native OS to try to a fix together, I'll see how that goes...
How do other apps behave? Also stuck on landscape or not?
I'm thinking it could be a launcher issue after all if that's the only place where this is happening.

Thanks for the feedback,
The behavior of the other apps are good, no issue with them whatsoever.
I have already uninstalled ADW launcher and stayed stock for a few hours and that didn't resolve the issue. I shall do it agin but this time reman in stock for longer.
I got the launcher BECAUSE the stock home screen doesn't rotate and I prefer to mount my phone sideways in my car. What is baffling is that it DOES go to landscape orientation when I plug the phone onto the Lapdock. Weird.
I was wondering if anybody else had this problem but the more I search the more I find that I may be the only one with the isssue, thus I'm thinking it can be due to my personal phone setup rather than a glitch. If I DO find a fix, I'll put it up nonetheless...
I have the exact same issue with Atrix 4G and ADW launcher
I have the exact issue you described and I did the same but ni good results so far. The only difference is that i was using the multimedia dock instead of the laptop dock (which I was thinking to buy). I just got the phone yesterday and the dock today and when testing for the 1st time i got the wallpaper wrongly oriented.. any help?
I installed after that the wallpaper wizardii app to see if it could fix it but no luck..
Thanks a lot.

Buggy wallpaper configuration. Try this, it might help.
- Install GO Launcher EX and set your wallpaper.
- Every time after undock the phone, press menu > wallpaper > press lock and and unlock for few times.
It work for me.
Just to chip in that I had the same (or very similar) problem: Nottachtrix ROM, ADW Launcher, multimedia dock. Swapping out the launcher to GO Launcher EX per AeroMiku's suggestion has worked for me ... for the moment!
